Aurélie was quite impulsive sometimes. It was like something came over her and she just acted instead of thinking it through. Perhaps signing up for being a part of the blind date night activity was an example of that, perhaps it wasn't. Whatever this was, she was now stuck completing it because it wasn't just her that she'd be ruining the experience for if she skipped out, it was her mysterious blind date too, and she would never do that to someone. Plus, this might be fun, a little awkward, yes, but fun. And it would be a great memory for her and her date, they could laugh about it together years from now.
Aurélie made her way to the Amortunnel. This ride was open every day during camp, but tonight was special, because it was supposed to be "romantic." The whole thing would've made the French girl roll her eyes had she not seen the large hedges of roses and the pretty loveseat on the luxurious gondola. Because after that, even she had to admit, they'd tried pretty hard to make this romantic.
She walked through the rosebush lined pathways, her eyes taking in the beautiful sights. It was like being in Beauxbatons' school gardens again, except with only couples walking down the pathways. She was glad that she'd brought a dress for this event, even if it wasn't anything special. Just a little white floral thing that she'd found at the back of her closet.
When Aurélie made it to the gondola, her eyes widened at who waited for her. It was Peter! Had he too foolishly signed up for this activity? Or perhaps, he'd signed up hoping he would get paired up with a special someone? She ran up to him, even in her dress, for she was quite excited to see him, no matter the fact that he was in her tent and she pretty much saw him every day.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice was light, filled with whimsy, just a step away from laughter as it always was around Peter. Aurélie's eyes widened. "Wait, oh my gosh, are you my blind date?"

𝓟eter scuffed his shoe against the dusty ground. He was started to heavily regret this. The Beauxbâtons boy had been walking around with Minnie and Marie, Brookline's first year sisters, when, the two girls, those ding dang troublemakers, dared him to sign up. He had told the twins, he would only sign up if one of the twins beat him in a fair game of cards.
Minnie won, of course, her quick, and witty mind, caused him to sit here, looking stupid, waiting for his blind date. In one hand, the Welsh boy held one single deep-red rose, and in the other he held a crumpled letter. It was from Lizy, Brookline's older sister. He was quite surprised when he had received a old parchment with Lizy's small neat handwriting, when Lizy was his friend's sister, not his.
Please keep an eye open for my sister, The letter had said, She's fragile, like my mother, and who knows what would happened if she broke? Also, if you would, keep your eyes open for Minnie and Marie.
He had stared at curiously, his eyes gazed on the words.
Broke.
Brookline had already broke. He had seen when he visited the sad, Welsh girl in early summer. The Welsh Ravenclaw simply broke when he had asked a simple question. It hurt his heart.
Peter, then, lifted his dark emerald eyes to the horizon, and he saw her. His eyes bugged out, and nearly fell out of their sockets. His lips twisted into a huge grin, and every regret of this blind date activity, every thought about anything and everything, flapped out, flew, popped, disappeared from his mind.
Aurélie Nathalie Duval, His whisper didn't reach his mouth and stayed in his mind, as he watched, the girl race over to him.
This girl, this incredible girl, was talking to him, when she didn't have too. His heart started to hammer, in pure glee, as he listened to his friend, could he even call her that, asking him what he was doing there. Classic Aurélie. Stating the obvious, in her beautiful clothing, her voice a laugh, the sweetest laugh.
Then Aurélie's blue-grey eyes opened, a realization dawning on her. Peter wasn't sure whether Aurélie was annoyed or gleeful when she asked another question, "Wait, oh my gosh, are you my blind date?" Peter wanted to say yes yes yes yes yes! but he wasn't sure if she really was. But if anything, he really hoped so. He crossed his fingers double time.
His mouth went dry at that exact moment. He cursed himself, mentally, and then after a moment or two of quite awkward silence, words, thank goodness, words practically tumbled out of his lips. "Hi Aurélie! Yes, I believe so."
Peter glanced over to his shoes, and caught glimpse of his hands. The letter and rose were still in his palms, and blushing, he held out the forgotten rose to Aurélie. It was a lot less than what he had given her at the arrivl tea party way back on Valentines day. "Er, here's a rose. I didn't know you would be my blind date, however, if I knew, I would of brought a bunch more."
He would of. Aurélie is an incredible girl who deserves a lot more than a single flower, he thought as he grinned at the girl, feeling slightly bad that he had given his friend just one rose. But he would rather drown in Aurélie's smile, waiting for her laugh that would make him laugh.

Sometimes Aurélie wondered whether this feeling in her chest was hers alone, or if Peter shared it too. Did he feel like running around barefoot in the grass, chasing fireflies and blowing on wish stalks, with her? Did he see her and want to light up the room just for her? Or was it all just in her head? Maybe she was going insane, maybe Peter saw her as a friend. Not even a best friend.
Oh, her mind was going in circles again. She just needed a break, needed to get out of there. And here was her perfect distraction. Peter Smith in the flesh, and a night spent together in this whole blind date activity. It would be fun, and she would enjoy it, and they would not, at any cost, make this weird.
"If you're my date, I think this will be plenty fun." She teased, with a little grin. But she felt bad when Peter offered her the single rose that he'd been holding. Obviously, he'd thought about this in a romantic perspective, at least, a lot more than Aurélie herself had.
She accepted the rose, sniffing it and smiling at its scent. She'd always been a wildflower girlie, one who'd preferred something that didn't take the typical beautiful title, but it was the thought that counted. Plus, if the rose was from Peter, she would accept the rose wholeheartedly.
"That's so sweet, Peter. I... wish I had something for you." She hadn't thought to bring anything. But she should have, whether her date had been Peter or someone else entirely. Chocolates, maybe? Or flowers collected from around the camp? That's what she would've brought.
Maybe if she was that sort of girl, she would've risen up on her tippy toes and given Peter a quick kiss on the cheek in appreciation. But while Aurélie had always been bold, she was afraid of getting too close to people. Of needing their presence, their love.
"How about we get on that boat and start this ride?" She gestured to the gondolas awaiting them and all the other couples with a tip of her head. "Let's go!" She attempted to say that last part in Welsh, but it came out as a big mess, mixing her French and English accents together to create something that she hoped was even mildly Welsh. She squeezed her eyes shut in embarrassment. She truly didn't want to make Peter more self-conscious about his culture and his identity, not when it had taken him so much courage to tell her in the first place.

The letter and rose were still in his Peter's head was a-spinning and he could swear that there were hearts in his vision, his chest flaring with intense anxiety, and embrassment.
Aurélie looked so pretty, in front of him, that he wouldn't dare speak in her unworldly presence. It was a quick second but to him, it could have been hours and days for him. Her brown hair hung lightly down her shoulders, the white dress hugging her frame perfectly, and she looked like a sparkling gem. He could have stepped forward, reached out, took the leap and hug her. But he didn't, too startled in her presence.
Aurélie gave a little beaming smile, teasing him just a bit. She accepted the rose, which made Peter smile wholeheartedly, and she gave the flower a little sniff.
"That's so sweet, Peter. I... wish I had something for you."
Peter shook his head lightly. "No need. I'm just glad you're here." His smile was so large now, that a strange thought came to him: Why doesn't it hurt? Most of the time whenever Peter smiled, it hurt after a while. Yet, he dismissed it, knowing that he didn't have to know the answers all the time.
Soon, Aurélie had expressed she wanted to start the rides with a tiny tilt of her head. Then her words twisted into Welsh. Or somewhat? The French girl's accents had smushed together and yet, Peter still understood her, the words still recognizable, still eligible, although it definitely needed work. The sounds of let's go needed work but other than that, Aurélie did okay for a beginner.
A small laugh had escaped Peter's voice before he could stop it. At first, he decided to tease her. "Ahh, the French girl has decided to say some Welsh! Finally! Someone who understands the need of the increase of the old Welsh language! We need more Welsh speakers, even if they need some work!"
He laughed again, that second to last statement wasn't all that true as there was a lot more speakers than there was a while back. However, still. More people needed to understand that there should be a increase of the Welsh language. At least, that is what Peter thought, in his own mind. However, he could see what would happened next...
Peter could practically see, in his head, how angry this'll make Aurélie. Merlin, the firy girl was quite defensive sometimes, which she should be, she can be quite fierce sometimes. "Ack, sorry about that, got too much tease. Pay no mind to my words. Your Welsh was good. You do need some work with the sounds, other than that, quite good for a beginner! We can work on that on the ride."
In his mother tongue, he would add, "Off we go, embarking on a journey!" Once those words left his lips, not even knowing if Aurélie even understood his words, with a surprising shot of courage, he grabbed her hand, and gently, pulled her along. To the boats.
Oh, Merlin's hat, this was scary.
