As her interest in magical plants was growing, Kaitlyn had taken time over the summer to paint. Nothing giant and fantastic, but she nevertheless enjoyed them. Honestly, most of her artwork consisted of sketches. Not like that was a bad thing, but she didn’t paint as much as she’d like. So, having the time over the summer meant that she’d dedicate part of her day to painting.
When she received the post detailing the Summer Camp as similar to a carnival, and the further announcement of there being art booths, Kaitlyn knew she had a good opportunity there. What better spot to show off her artwork than in an art exhibition? As much as she’d love to distribute her artwork, letting the other people view it would be just as good … at least in her opinion.
So, the day of the Arts and Booths Expo, Kaitlyn strode up to her booth in a white floral dress with tan low-heeled sandals. She even wore a sunflower in her hair. Her tent was white with pastel dots throughout. At the top of her tent sat a sign, ‘Artistic Endeavors.’
Decorating the inside was easy enough for the young Slytherin. Kaitlyn set up a small stool for her to sit on. Then, her artwork was framed and hung throughout the text. There were abstract depictions of daffodils, roses, tulips, carnations, mistletoe, and peonies.
She even hung two summery poems in frames.
Garden
I feel so alive,
Surrounded by shoots erupting from the ground,
Full of color and life,
Bringing joy to my face,
Lifting my mood,
Giving an aroma of a budding garden.Perched on her stool, Kaitlyn smiled, awaiting to see anyone who wanted to venture inside.Summertime Haze
The world erupts around me,
In blazes of colors,
Bright and Shiny,
Full of life!
The rays of sunlight brighten up the world,
Filling every spot with joy,
Turning up the temperature,
Ushering in fun to the day.
As I lay in the sun,
The first thought that comes to me,
This is life. This is happiness.

arts & booths expo • threadOphelia arrived at the scene of the Art Expo and the Fair Booths with quite some excitement. She hadn’t had any ideas to create her own little booth or expo, but she had been waiting to see the others’ ideas and creativity. As she’d thought, the whole scene was full of buzzing activity with students going around to the different booths and checking out all that they had to offer.
She ducked into one of the first booths that she saw, a pretty one with a simple design. White with pastel dots covering it. Outside she'd seen a sign with the words "Artistic Endeavors" displayed proudly, but she hadn't a clue who the booth belonged to until she stepped in.
Ophelia grinned. She'd had a stroke of luck, definitely, because the first one she'd entered was operated by someone she knew! It was Kaitlyn, the Slytherin girl who she'd seen around Hogwarts plenty of times over and had interacted with many times too. "Hello Kaitlyn!" She looked around the tent, observing the pieces that had been hung up by the Slytherin girl.
Most of them were paintings. Each of them were similar in theory, portraying an artistically rendered flowering plant in front of an abstract background. While the backgrounds followed a similar pattern, none of them were quite the same, and each of the flowers were painted beautifully, with a skill that Ophelia knew she could never possess. Moving to the next section of the small tent, the Ravenclaw girl found poetry. Both were positive in theme and truly descriptive of their muse, fitting for a fun-filled summer camp. Now, this was something that they could connect over!
Ophelia looked over at Kaitlyn, a little surprised. True, she hadn't interacted with the girl enough to have known whether or not she was a poet, but the Ravenclaw hadn't realised how many literature enthusiasts she would meet during her time at Hogwarts.
"You write poems? That's so cool! I'm a writer too, I actually wanted to be an author really badly when I was little. I'm not a poet though, more of a novelist."

Reduciowhite floral dress with tan low-heeled sandals and pigtail braidsA bright smile bloomed on Kaitlyn’s cheeks once she saw a familiar face enter her tent. “Hi, Ophelia!” She greeted her happily. Despite her shyness, she saw and talked to the Ravenclaw around Hogwarts. They even shared the same tent for this camp. It was as good a time as ever to get to know each other better! At least, that was her opinion.
“Let me know if you have any questions.” While Kaitlyn could certainly follow the other girl around, she wasn’t a fan of it. Her opinion was the same as it was back in her youth. Art was meant to be an experience, not something that needed to be explained. Each person should have their own opinions of the art, all of which were completely valid. To Kaitlyn, there was no such thing as just one meaning, which was why she loved abstract art the most. Consequently, it was also the hardest to produce. Besides, her tent wasn’t exactly big. As it was just her artwork on display, she didn’t need anything extravagant. She could still comfortably perch on the stool and be able to assist … at least when she didn’t have too many guests in her lair.
An even brighter smile formed on her lips when Kaitlyn spotted Ophelia checking out her poems. It was an important decision; just two poems were hung there in the tent. Both of which followed the theme of summer and flowers, which was why she chose them. What better way to honor summer than to have her tent filled with so many homages!
Hopping off the stool, Kaitlyn approached her Ravenclaw classmate slowly as Ophelia began to talk. To find others who were also into literature was few and far between, unfortunately. Even at St. Ann’s, poetry wasn’t a required class … or even a class at all. It was grouped with their English lessons and touched on in a few others, like etiquette. “Thank you! Yes, I do. Nothing too fancy, but they get the job done,” she chuckled. “I wrote those specifically for this exhibit. I think it’s cool that you’re a novelist! Do you have a genre you like writing?”Word Count:

arts & booths expo • threadOphelia continued her perusal of Kaitlyn's little showcase, though only with her eyes. She stayed put physically, her ears doing the work of listening to the Slytherin girl speak.
The arts had always interested Ophelia. She'd never been too into them herself, considering she'd always considered herself to be more full of reason and logic than creativity. Plus, her drawing skills, her acting skills, and pretty much everything else skills that had to do with art weren't the best, and as everyone knew, the Ravenclaw truly did want to be as perfect as possible at everything she did. The only skills that she even remotely possessed was her love of sewing and fashion, gifted to her by her mother, and the baking that she could sometimes perform, when the ingredients cooperated.
Still, the Ravenclaw had always enjoyed the time she'd spent with her family in art museums or shows, because she admired the works of art, even if she couldn't do something so spectacular herself. It was the same with all of these art expo booths that she was planning to visit, she couldn't wait to see all the creativity!
"Well, you've got to start somewhere!" Ophelia tilted her head a bit in thought at the genre question that Kaitlyn posed. She hadn't really thought about it before. She'd had manuscripts of all sorts of genres, romance and mystery and horror and paranormal. It had all sort of blended together in her head at some point, producing something that was wholly Ophelia. "Fantasy," she stated simply. "I think it was my best genre until, you know, magic happened to be real and all my fantasy novels didn't feel very fantasy anymore." She laughed a little, hoping Kaitlyn would laugh along with her.
Ophelia looked up at the art around her once more, then turned back to Kaitlyn. "Well then, I'd better get going, this was my first booth and I've got quite a few to visit after this! Bye!"

The next booth that caught her attention on her walk around was easy to spot due to the bright colors of the artwork that hung inside. They were simple paintings of plants in bold, modern colors. And as Maisie walked closer, she realized that wasn't all that was there: poems also ran across the walls, hung similarly in frames. She stepped inside to give them a read. Both seemed like free verse with a summer theme, appropriate for the event.
Nearby was an older girl, who must have been the artist. She looked older, but not by much. And just off a conversation, she seemed free so Maisie introduced herself, "Hi there. I'm a few booths down from you. My name's Maisie. This is great work you have!" After extending a hand, she gestured at the poems, which she knew were likely far better than whatever she could do herself.
"Have you had much traffic?" she asked, curiously. Maisie knew her sewing and craftwork might be an acquired taste for some. Poetry and painting, on the other hand, seemed very accessible. Surely, she had people coming by for that beyond just her friends.
"If you need—well, maybe not sugar—scissors or anything, just come knock," she explained in a neighborly way. After all, they had to band together, shopkeeper to shopkeeper.

The young Slytherin stopped approaching a distance away from Ophelia. Kaitlyn didn’t want to crowd the Ravenclaw. The whole point of having a booth like this was to invite other Hogwarts students, and students from many other magical schools, to showcase their wares and talents. If only she had enough time to craft some jewelry. Ah, no matter. Art like this was enough for her … at least in her opinion.
“Thank you,” Kaitlyn smiled at Ophelia’s remark. She nodded her head in agreement about the Fantasy genre. “Oh, yes, I love fantasy, too. I do agree, though, they got the magic wrong. I don’t find many whimsical anymore,” she laughed, as well. Interestingly, the fantasy books she still enjoyed were ones with little to no magic involved for that very reason. Not to say she couldn’t handle seeing a different take about magic … it just hit differently now that she could perform magic.
“Thank you for coming. I hope you enjoy the other booths,” Kaitlyn beamed, waving at Ophelia. ‘I’m way too polite to ask, but I’d love to read some of her work one day … if she trusts me enough, that is. Or, maybe we could even write together. It could be fun to bounce ideas off each other. Maybe. Ah, if I could ever get the courage to ask. I’d love to get to know her better, regardless.’ Her mind rambled on.
Turning on her heels, Kaitlyn skipped back to her stool. Before she could take a seat again, another girl entered her tent. This one was younger … not by much, though, to look at her art. It was always great to see interest in what she made, even if it wasn’t too much yet. The fact that two people have come over was always beneficial. She smiled when the girl came over to introduce herself.
“Yes, yes. Your booth is the sewing one, I think, right? It’s a pleasure to meet you, Maisie. I’m Kaitlyn. Thank you, I’m glad you like them!” Kailtyn beamed. Her art … and now her poems … were never sources of contention in her heart. She routinely lacked confidence, but not with her artwork. It was probably a little strange … not that she minded being strange. In her opinion, her weirdness was what defined her, so why not embrace it?
Reclaiming her seat on her stool, Kaitlyn shook her head. “Not too many yet, no. I’m just glad to have any,” she chuckled. “How about you? I should step away for a moment to visit yours,” she smiled. At Maisie’s sentiment, Kaitlyn nodded. She was unlikely to need scissors, but she enjoyed the neighborly connotation. “Thank you, I’ll keep it in mind if I realize I need something … especially if traffic ever does pick up. The same goes for you, too. Feel free to let me know if you need anything,” she returned the hospitality.

Date : August 19th, 2025 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Sere's outfit was clearly too bright today. She was wearing a yellow dress with a pair of pale yellow boots. Don't ask how all of this out-of-the character burst could happen. She was also surprised to see this outfit when she unpacked on the first day of Summer Camp. This was clearly her grandma's doing, and Sere had no choice but to wear it. At least once, just once. After this I'll stuff this dress in the deepest corner of my closet.
Today was the Art & Booth Expo day. Sere, who had spent most of her time in the tent reading non-fiction books about the history of ethnic motifs and patches, finally decided to break out from her cozy session and check on this event. The first booth that caught her attention was a simple white-with-dotted-motives tent. Sere peeked inside before entering and found her acquaintance inside this art booth.
"Kaitlyn! Hi!" Sere walked into the tent. "Whoa, are you the one that running this booth?" Sere could see abstract paintings of flowers hung everywhere. "This booth is amazing! And, nice outfit, by the way." Kaitlyn's dress matched her booth so well.
Sere came closer to read the poems written and presented with frames. She had no idea a Slytherin could be so... artistic. "These poems were written by someone who sharpened their senses and transformed what they felt into string of words," The Gryffindor turned to Kaitlyn, "Did you write this yourself as well?"ReducioSere's outfit.

As the time passed, with many students coming to look at the different booths, Kaitlyn smiled happily at the students milling around. Frankly, she was just glad to have anyone stop at her booth. The young snake was not exactly a social butterfly, even with the thought that she was a prefect of Slytherin, since near the end of her second year. Regardless, she tried her best … er, at least what she considered to be her best.
As the minutes ticked by, Kaitlyn recognized a certain Gryffindor girl in a bright yellow dress with bright yellow boots approaching her booth. While Sere was an acquaintance at the moment, Kaitlyn hoped that she could eventually call Sere her friend. She genuinely enjoyed the time she spent with her at the Twisted Tavern during last year's Spring Ball. It was very helpful that they were able to work well together and with the other girls in their group!
When Sere decided to enter her tent, Kaitlyn beamed. “Hi, Sere!” She greeted her warmly. A quick nod confirmed Sere’s question. “Yes, I am. Thank you! I tried my best.” She beamed at the compliment, glancing at her dress and sandals. “Thank you, Sere. I like your outfit, too,” she replied.
The young Slytherin hopped off her stool as Sere came closer to read her small selection of poetry. Kaitlyn tried her best to showcase relevant poetry for her booth. She had plenty more poems that didn’t match the aesthetic she was trying to convey. She nodded at Sere’s question about the poems. “Yes, I did. Those ones were the most thematically consistent with the booth. I hope you like them,” she replied quietly.

Date : August 19th, 2025 Color code : Written|Thought|Said "I love the one titled Summertime Haze the most," Sere expressed her opinion. "How do I say it? Umm... It's like seeing summer with our own eyes, then describing every beautiful part of it. After that we close our eyes, sharpen our other senses, and put every feeling into another beautiful words. The difference between our vision and another sense without our vision, I can feel it in this poem." The girl cleared her throat, "Ugh, sounds like a poetry expert right now." She was lack some knowledge in arts, but for real, you didn't need to be an expert to try interpreting Kaitlyn's work. Her lines could magically define themselves.
Sere let out a dry laugh as Kaitlyn complimented her appearance. "Thank you, but... Err..." Sere exhaled, rubbing the back of her neck, grimacing as she suddenly shared a random TMI, "actually, my grandma put this dress in my luggage without my permission. And I feel this whole thing..." She pointed to her own dress and the boots up and down twice before continuing, "is too yellow for me. Super yellow. I'm closer to banana than sunflower." She pointed to the flower on Kaitlyn's head.
She folded her arms and asked, "We have a spell related to clothing color-changing, aren't we? Because if not, today will be my first and last time wearing this outfit." She took another look at the abstract floral paintings displayed inside the tent, "At least the color of my dress seems to match the aesthetic of the abstract paintings." It was a good coincidence and the urge to take a picture or two in front of the paintings arose suddenly inside herself. "Do you make those paintings yourself?" If so, well, apparently she herself was the least talented-in-art she had ever known in Hogwarts. She'd never met anybody with zero talent in art in the school!ReducioSere's outfit.

As Sere talked about her poem, Summertime Haze, Kaitlyn stayed quiet and attentive. While she was well aware that she was no expert or prodigy in anything artistic or creative, she enjoyed seeing the conclusions her classmates drew about her work. In her opinion, some of the best creative pieces didn’t give you straight answers. They made you think and wrestle with what was on the author’s mind. While she could say what was on her mind, that would take away from the interpretation. If she could help it, she tried her best to avoid it. The creative interpretation was exactly what she liked to see, hence why she decided to stay quiet.
At Sere’s mention of sounding poetic, Kaitlyn smiled. “That was a beautiful interpretation. I’m glad you liked it. It was fun to write,” she spoke quietly. She tilted her head to the side and smiled at Sere’s comments about her yellow outfit, and shrugged. “I think yellow looks good on you. Banana or sunflower, or not. But you wear what you’re comfortable with. Yes, we do have a spell to change the color of clothing and style of clothing … Multicorfors. What color would you prefer?” She asked, curiously. To be fair, she wasn’t the type of girl who analyzed other people’s outfits.
Kaitlyn glanced at her toes and gently moved her feet around in her sandals. She looked back at Sere and nodded. “Yes, I did. I love flowers! While I love learning about magical flowers, too, I sadly couldn’t attempt to draw them at home … other than the honking daffodils that I have.” That was one of the downsides to being a muggleborn. She stepped closer to her art and gestured to the pieces she assembled for her booth. “Do you like any of these? I have more in my sketchpad … these were the ones that matched the summer aesthetic.”
