Azkasplash!  Booth   OPEN
Image
19 August 2025- Booth Day Event

Prominently stationed in the middle of what Stephen had come to think of as Midway Mayhem stood his booth, Azkasplash!. He was guaranteed a phenomenal amount of foot traffic; that would not be a problem. Heavy foot traffic was only half of the equation though. He wanted this idea to make a big splash, literally and figuratively, so it needed to attract attention. Dunking booths were nothing original, but he had what he thought was an inspired idea when he and Miles had set off to really explore the stadium a couple of days earlier. His booth would be based on the infamous Azkaban prison, and fair goers could put out bounties on those whom they wished to bring to justice.

He and Miles had come across an old storage room, and though they probably should not have, they ventured inside and discovered the most incredible wrought iron cage that had hints of medieval inquisition written all over it. As soon as his baby blues saw it, he knew he had found his booth. There had been a tattered tag dangling from a filthy, nearly threadbare bit of string, attached to the door. The tag, what was left of it anyway, was water stained (God, he hoped that was what caused the stains), and the only part he could read, because some of it disintegrated into a disgustingly wet, squelching mound of pulp when he touched it, said ‘Dragon’.

His mind raced to why a dragon would be crated at a Quidditch stadium, but he honestly didn’t care. Wizards be weird, and for all he knew, it could have been a visiting team’s mascot. In any event, he told Miles his plans for his booth and they both agreed this would be perfect. They then left to find a janitor or anyone who could direct them to the person to get permission from to use the cage. An hour and a half later, after chasing down one lead and then another, and making one, non-negotiable stop so that Miles could dress down some poor woman – whom he later referred to as a barbarian – for making the unenviable mistake of wearing a corsage whose petals were a little crispy along the edges -- they finally found the man they had been seeking.

“Quigley Wimpole, the Underwizard of Upkeep,” and he chuckled as he offered his hand to both boys for a shake, something Stephen knew Miles frowned upon. “Officially known, however, as the Director of Magical Infrastructure and Broom Traffic here at the stadium. How may I help you young chaps?” Being called a young chap made Stephen smile, especially since Quigley Wimpole looked like he might be only 12-15 years older than them, at most.

Stephen explained why they were there, and within half an hour, he had been granted permission to use the cage. Of course, he had to drink a nasty-tasting truth serum and swear he would not harm the cage and would return it in as good, if not better, condition upon the ending of the Booth day event. Mr. Wimpole even offered, well, insisted was more like it, that he would have some of his crew deliver it onto the field at the designated spot the morning of the event.

Stephen was all smiles until he heard that last bit. “Mr. Wimpole, that will not give me the time I'll need to retrofit it for the dunking booth. It will need a drop-seat, and signage, and a very sturdy target attached to the side. I will not be able to do all of that the morning of,” Stephen shared with some degree of sad resignation.

“Worry not, lad. I will have my crew get the target and the seat installed, but you’re on your own for making the sign. I have some scrap metal that I can let you have that might work if you’d like to take it with you now.” His spirits perked up immediately. “Yes, please. That would be fantastic.”

So, good to his word, Mr. Wimpole’s crew had the cage delivered to the designated spot on the designated morning, even before Stephen had arrived with his sign. He easily climbed to the top and wired his sign in place and climbed back down. The bounty Booth was in place as well and had been easy enough to make; it was just wood after all. It all looked fine as a mismatched unit. Medieval stone would have worked better, instead of the American west look going on now, but all in all, he was happy with it.

It was not nearly as spectacular to look at as Miles’ booth was though. That was a pure work of art, as was everything he had worked so hard to create within it. If there was a lull on this side of the midway, Stephen was heading straight for Miles Thatcher’s Curious Cultivars in no time flat. But right now, he had to make a quick visit down to The Chilluminati, a snow cone booth where he was going to be supplied with his snowball needs throughout the day. He picked up his first order of red, blue, and green snow cones, sans the cones, which he quickly enchanted and then stocked in his milk pails with a Glacius spell.

He looked around and it all looked ready to go. The two, first-year witches he had hired to be his muscle, his toughs, his tenaciously cherubic bounty hunters, were both present and fidgeting, anxious to go on their first hunt. They had agreed to help him out for the bargain basement price of 50 chocolate frogs each, but he had already determined that was not going to be enough. He hoped he’d be making bank on tickets at the booth, and so he had decided he would take half and they could split the other half, each getting 25% of the proceeds.

Fair was only fair, at the fair.

As they waited for their first customer, he laughed as the two decided they should have a magical enforcement name and came up with Elphaba’s Enforcers. Neither one of them knew any magic, they both looked as sweet as spun sugar tasted, and they were the perfect, ironic, soft-touch to get even the most reluctant witch or wizard to comply with the warrant for their arrest when presented to them by these two little darlings. They eagerly wanted to know if they could go to the booth down the way and get their faces painted green. He thought about it, loving the commitment to their roles, but he ultimately asked them not to since he needed them to look sweet and non-threatening. A green face, on a witch, would leave the exact opposite impression he was looking for them to make.

When Miles opened his doors, Stephen waved and smiled widely. He then rubbed his hands together, ramping up his carnival barker energy, and told the girls to get ready. Things were about to start rocking! Or so he hoped.

“Ladies and gentlemen and magical mischief-makers of all ages — step right up! You’ve just stumbled upon the most satisfying splash of justice this side of the Spellbound Sea (a totally made up geographical location as far as he knew). Yes, indeed you have. I present Azkasplash! Where grudges get submerged and payback is positively dripping with satisfaction."

"Got a friend who “accidentally” hexed your hair before the Harvest Ball? A crush who forgot your name again? A frenemy who borrowed your broom and returned it with suspicious scorch marks on the brush? Well, fret and fume no longer my fellow justice league members — here at Azkasplash!, you can place a bounty on their head and let my sweet-faced enforcers do the rest.

"Here’s how it works: For the low, low, lowwwwwwwwww price of five prize tickets,”
and Stephen lowered his voice and shook his jowls for emphasis, not that he really had any jowls to shake, “… you submit a grievance. Said grievance can be real, petty, or poetically exaggerated. Each submission triggers a bounty on the head of your chosen fugitive. Then sit back and enjoy the show as our sweet-faced, utterly harmless-looking bounty hunters track them down."

Image

"That’s right — no wands, no spells, just charm, cupcakes, and an uncanny ability to track down even the slipperiest of spell-dodgers. They may look like they belong in a Charm Your Toad workshop, but don’t be fooled — they’ll have your fugitive pouting in public faster than you can say splash zone."

"Once captured, your fugitive now becomes a prisoner, and is brought right here to face judgment. It is then up to you (the judge, jury, AND executioner), to hold them accountable for the grievous wrongs they have committed against you, or society, or some made up goblin they insulted in a dream you had three weeks ago last Saturday. It matters not! What does matter is that with a few well-aimed throws by you, justice, as they say, will be that dish that is best served cold – not to mention wet.”

And with that, Stephen went full bore into his The Greatest Showman, carnival barker-like closing, ramping up his energy while also channeling Professor Harold Hill from The Music Man. He began to mill around in the crowd himself, placing his arm around some shoulders as his other arm swept out in front of them, urging them in tone and presence to trust him.

“So come on ladies and gentlemen— settle that score (ya know ya want to!), soak that scoundrel (ya know they deserve it!), and remember (and if ya can’t remember, there are potions for that!): at Azkasplash!, revenge is not only sweet, it’s where all wix, come to get their kicks!”

“And when all is said and done, if you’re thrilled with the results that I, and my decidedly pale, little Elphaba Enforcers delivered, tell your friends! Make them as green with envy as my little enforcers wish they themselves were. Hell, tell your enemies! Tell your History of Magic professor if you must! But!”
and he momentarily stopped and gazed at the crowd while lifting an index finger, pointing it straight up to the sky. The sudden change of energy caught the crowd off guard and he could feel them all reflexively lean in towards him. He leaned in as well, and spoke in a more quiet, reserved tone.

“If, by some wild twist and turn of fate, you have decided that satisfaction here at Azkasplash! was not your destiny (and he grinned and winked at the crowd after delivering those possibly obscure Easter eggs), well then, do what any mature, emotionally stable wix would do: bottle it up, repress it deeply, and write a strongly worded letter to your diary. We’ll all sleep better for it,” and then he raised his head, laughing good naturedly.

With his dazzling grin working overtime, Stephen spun on his heel, plucked three enchanted snowballs from a nearby milk pail, one of each color, and began to juggle them effortlessly, each one sparkling as sunbeams glinted off of their crystalline structures.

“Justice, my friends,” he called over his shoulder, “is a delicate art and occasionally, a contact sport.” Spinning back around to face the crowd and catching all three enchanted snowballs, he grinned winningly.

“Which one of you is it going to be, hmmm? Who is going to be the first to see justice done at Azkasplash!?”

The Rules and Mechanics

Reducio

Thank you for Participating! I hope you will find this to be a fun experience!

1. There first sign up sheet will be posted on Tuesday, July 8th. It requires that both parties sign their names, meaning both agree to the interaction. The person who is putting out the bounty must list a grievance as to why they are placing the bounty. It will be read aloud (or assumed to be read aloud), verbatim in the public square of opinion at the time of the dunking.

2. This is a first come, first served booth. Please do not take a spot on the sign up sheet unless you already have a firm yes to participate in this with the second party. That means no placeholder TBAs or TBDs or coming soons should appear on the sign up form. I know it can take a few days for someone to get the form signed, but there will be 5 days between moderations, so bear that in mind if you want to sign up. Any slot with only one name will just be skipped over at the time I do rolls. That will not prevent you from eligibility to sign up at another time, but if the same thing happens 2x, that will be the last time you can sign up (unless the booth is not popular, in which case, knock yourself out). I simply want to make sure everyone who wants to play can play.

3. You may only place one bounty**. That may change later depending on how the traffic moves with this idea. You can be dunked any number of times, however, so long as you have agreed to participate. Please do not sign up to be dunked more than 1x per moderation cycle (a week). Again, trying to make sure everyone who wishes to gets to play.

4. Feel free to lightly godmod Stephen, but do not put words in his mouth or thoughts in his head beyond simple greetings and small talk. You can mention speaking to him when putting out the bounty, etc., but it should all be light and non-committal interactions. Also feel free to describe the interactions one might have with the Elphaba Enforcers if you wish, but bear in mind they are first years who know no magic – they have not stepped foot into a magic classroom yet. Their innocence and ignorance is part of the irony behind their effectiveness at bringing in even the most jaded, surly, and rude folk. Even though they are dNPCs, please be kind.

5. All posts must follow site guidelines and are expected to be a minimum of 200 words.

6. When this thread is tagged as OPEN on July 8, you will have 5 days to get your name(s) on the roster. At the end of that time, I will close the roster and I will take the next 2 days to do the rolls. Once your results are posted, you are free to post at your convenience. When results are posted, the roster will open back up again and the system repeats itself.

**7. There will be “volunteer” dunkees from week to week, but not necessarily every week. These volunteers will be Headmasters/Headmistresses and Professors from Hogwarts and many of the international schools. They have all agreed to sit for three (3) interactions. If you have dunked someone else, you may still sign up to try to dunk one adult volunteer, but not in the same week, please. Again, this is a first come and first served basis. I will try to vary the time on the 7th day when rosters open up so that as many people as possible get the opportunity to try and sign up.

The Mechanics: The Dunker (Acc rolls).

1. Neither participant is allowed to use magic at any point in the interactions.

2. Pay 5 prize tickets (IC for flavor) to place a bounty. State your grievance.

3. You will have 3 chances to hit the target on the side of the cage. It is set to be hard to move. Just hitting the target is not enough. You will need to hit it precisely in the middle to dunk your prisoner.

4. You will throw 3 snowballs, red, blue, and green, in that order. This will be important for rolls, so you may wish to note that in your post, but it is not necessary.

5. If you dunk your prisoner on the first throw, great for you and not so great for them. You still have two more chances to drop them into the drink.

6. If you drop them on the third throw, with a Critical Success roll, you get a free throw to try once more.

7. Abilities do not matter here. It is strictly an Accuracy (Acc) vs. Evasion (Ev) roll every time.

8. A 20 sided die will be used for rolls.

9. The Dunkee has (-5) Ev points at the get go. It is possible that the Dunker or Dunkee can have “0” Acc or Ev points at some point, but rolls will be made as they still get points from the 20 sided die.

The Snowballs – They are enchanted.

1. The colors only come into play only with Critical Success rolls [20], or Critical Failure rolls [1].

2. Red – Dunker loses (-5) Acc if they roll a Crit Fail; Crit Success is an automatic dunk of the prisoner and Dunker gains (+2) ACC (for this game only).

3. Blue – Dunker is jinxed on Crit Fail; Dunkee is jinxed on Crit Success roll, in addition to being dunked. [NOTE: Stephen will be the one casting the jinxes and it will be assumed he successfully casts.]

4. Green – Dunker loses(-2) Acc on Crit Fail; Crit Success means automatic dunking of the prisoner; Dunker Gains (+5) ACC, and gets only (1) additional free throw, even if it is another Crit Success.

5. Any ties will break in favor of the Dunkee because everything has been skewed in Dunkers' favor.

The Dunkee – (Ev) rolls

1. Basically, just sit there.

2. You must relinquish your wand upon approach to the cage. There is a platform inside the cage, reached by way of a slot, where you shall place your wand before entering. It was once used to feed a dragon, so there is more than enough room for your wand to rest safely in the cage with you, but somewhat out of reach. No one will ever make contact with it but you.

3. After you are released, you are free to retrieve it the same way you put it in. DO NOT FORGET to RP picking your wand back up on your way out!

4. Turning over your wand is a matter of security. This is so you are not tempted to use it during the course of events. After all, prisoners are never allowed to have weapons in a courtroom, and the cage will be your courtroom now. If you know wandless or non-verbal magic, I have no control over that. The seat is enchanted, however, to keep you in place unless you are dunked. Feel free to rage against the machine, smack talk your accuser or the crowd, and ultimately take your punishment like a big boy or girl if such is doled out. Or not if that would be more entertaining for all of us!

5. As you approach the cage, you will note the signage below the target. It will say, “Will you Prove Worthy?” This is being asked of both the Dunker and Dunkee, actually. The Dunker has a case to prove – and they may fall short themself, but this is about your “alleged” shortcomings, not theirs. If the Dunkee is dunked even once, they have been proven unworthy, and the sign changes to read, “Sentenced to Soak!” If the prisoner, or Dunkee, is not dunked, the signage will read “Unsoaked and Unrepentant!”

6. As you leave the booth area, your Bounty poster will be hung on the wall. An “X” through it signals your “Guilt”. A check mark indicates your “Acquittal”.

The Sign up Form can be found here.

One of the reasons Ginyami signed up was because he was almost certain that the student running this stall was the boyfriend of the EmmaLee he had attended the ball of and gone into business with. That in itself had been amusing, since he hadn't really gotten the chance to talk to Stephan even if he'd recognized and noted his presence. But when Ginyami had seen that Aoki Mori had volunteered herself to be dunked, he knew he couldn't pass up the opportunity. He'd been wishing for a chance like this ever since he'd first met her and seen her ridiculously unnatural hair color.

Once he paid his five tickets, he cleared his throat and stood tall, determined that everyone within earshot - especially Aoki herself - hear him state his grievance against her.

"I have attempted time and time again for years, now, to instill in my precious kohai (underclassmen) the values of tradition and our culture. Then this woman comes along with her silly unnaturally-colored hair like some delinquent and sends the message to those same kohai - first as a professor, then as the headmistress - that it's perfectly fine to ignore thousands of years worth of all those traditions and culture! It's about time I take my revenge for her transgressions, leading my poor underclassmen so far astray after I've worked so hard to teach them what has been sacred and valued for ages."

He had been told he had three chances to hit the target and that he had to hit precisely in the middle or Aoki would not fall. Still, Ginyami was not particularly worried. He was his school's Quidditch Keeper, after all. Accuracy was something he tended to pride himself on.

He eyed and picked up the red snowball. Then the green. Then the blue. Each was supposed to be magical in some way, but to find out in what way, Ginyami knew he would just have to wait and see.

He made his throws, one after the other.

19 August 2025- Booth Day Event

Stephen and the Elphaba Enforcers

Disappointing is how Stephen would have to describe the turnout so far, though he did acknowledge that it was still early in the morning so maybe folks didn't want to get wet and catch a chill. Maybe they wanted to look around and strategically plan out their day first. He would definitely fall into the latter category if he wasn't here manning this booth. People were curious, that was for certain but he was beginning to despair there would be no takers. It wasn't like him to get down in the dumps about things like this, but he knew this idea would have killed it back home.

His eyes were drawn to the enormous amount of foot traffic Miles' shop was getting. It was beautiful on the outside and Miles had been very secretive about his offerings, so Stephen knew he was going to be making a trip over there soon if things didn't pick up. The bright spot to his day so far had definitely been his Elphaba Enforcers. They were bored. Very bored. They had just returned from The Chilluminati, each licking and sucking on their snow cones. Elphaba 1 had a blue, coconut-flavored cone, and Elphaba 2 had a red, bloodroot-flavored one. It looked beautiful, but the name? Not so much.

Elphaba 1 had been distracted by a starling that was dive-bombing her for whatever reason, and in a quick, evasive turn of her head, the bird flew right by with no contact. She lost track of where her hand was holding the snow cone in space, and whined after the blue, syrupy ball of crushed ice rolled onto her lap and then bounced onto the ground before shortly rolling to a stop.

"Ah, Glimmersticks!" she yelped in what sounded like equal parts frustration and disappointment. He chuckled to himself, never having heard that term before. Must be the royal cousin to 'Fiddlesticks'.

"Don't worry. You can come get another blue, or any color you want, from the stock behind the counter. Your cone is still in your hand so all should be well. She got up and trudged over, shoulders slumping, and sighed dramatically. He knew she was strategizing her next move in their joint request to go visit the face painting booth down the way. They had asked him earlier if they could go since no one had shown up, and he seriously considered it, but he asked them to hold off a bit longer.

"I promise you both. If things don't pick up in the next half hour, you're free to go paint those cherubic faces as green as you wish." Then a thought struck him. "What would you rather do -- go on a bounty hunt or get your faces painted?" Then he hurriedly followed up with, "And you may only choose one."

If they chose the green faces, he was going to let them go for the day, with their promised chocolate frogs and 25 tickets each. Those he would have to owe them. They didn't know he had already decided to pay them in tickets as a bonus, so they wouldn't be missing them as he white-knuckled it out here, hoping to get at least 10 people to enter into his little flight of fancy.

They both looked at him and then looked at each other before turning their backs to him to huddle. Seriously? They were huddling like he was on the opposing team? He shook his head and grinned, respecting their earnestness. He could hear muffled whispers, but nothing registered as words -- only noise. When they turned back around, one moving in a clockwise direction and the other counter to that, he straightened up and crossed his arms in front of himself, giving them the attention and solemnity he felt their moment deserved.

In an eerie bit of unpracticed synchronicity, they both spoke only one word. "Bounty!" The prospect of going on one clearly animated them as the mere sound of hearing it voiced had them vibrating and giggling like little schoolgirls, which of course, they were. Providence was shining down on all three of them in those moments because it was less than a minute later the first bona fide customer approached the booth.

@Ginyami Midorimori, much to Stephen's surprise, walked straight over to him. Stephen smiled at him, knowing his name having spent some bit of time with him in the world's ugliest cabin ever a couple of summers prior, and by some bit of time, he meant passing him in the hallways. The fellow always seemed polite, gracious, and not unfriendly, but he knew there were some real life business deals being navigated between the LeDames and the Midorimori families, and he really didn't want to screw any of that up right now. He remembered EmmaLee telling him about bowing as a courtesy and sign of respect, so he figured to give it a go rather than his standard handshake.

"Midorimori-san -- hello," and Stephen kept his eyes forward while bending slightly from the waist for a second or so before raising back up to his proper, straight posture. He immediately assumed the upperclassman must be looking for EmmaLee, and was about to say he had not seen her yet that morning, but was astonished to find out he was actually speaking to his first customer. Stephen could feel the silly grin dance across his lips as his Elphaba Enforcers literally were jumping up and down in anticipation behind Ginyami.

"Certainly. I will need you to please fill out a form at the counter, and once I have that, and 5 Prize tickets, I will send my bounty hunters off to collect the fugitive. May I ask upon whose head this bounty is being placed?" He wanted to know because he had multiple WANTED posters of everyone in camp already made up, and he would be locating the proper poster while Midorimori-san filled out the blanks. Another seismic shift took place when he heard this student would be seeking to dunk his own Headmistress.

Stephen couldn't help it. That made him chuckle. Quickly handing the WANTED poster to the eager Enforcers, Elphaba 1 and Elaphaba 2, he cautioned them to be careful, implored them to have fun, and warned them not to come back empty-handed. It was an idle threat and they knew it, but it fell in line with the ambience.

He would have liked to have been able to speak a little more in depth with Midorimori-san, but another customer approached, paying his 5 Prize tickets before picking up the quill. This student Stephen did not know, but he, too, wished to put a bounty on the head of someone. Stephen was in the midst of explaining that his hunters were on the hunt right now and should be back shortly. Then he looked down at the name on the form and felt like his eyes must have bugged out 2 feet away from their sockets before snapping back, perfectly in place, much like they do in cartoons.

"You two have much in common in this moment," he said to both of his customers. "It would seem that Headmistress Aiko Mori has managed to stir up wrath in more than one school's student body. This is going to be fun.

Little over 10 minutes later, his Elphabas were bookending a confused looking Headmistress as she approached the dunking booth and her accusers. Stephen grabbed the handbell he had stashed beneath the counter and rang it out loudly so it could be heard over the growing din in the Midway.

"Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! Gather 'round all you seekers of dew drops and due process! Behold as the arc of justice is set to bend towards Headmistress Aiko Mori, of Mahoutokoro. As it bends towards her, will it bend away from the natural arc of rainbow colors she uses to color her hair at one time? She shall sit in the Seat of Inquisition as her accuser, Ginyami Midorimori, airs his grievance against her publicly," and then Stephen stepped aside so Midorimori-san could speak.

‘I have attempted time and time again for years, now, to instill in my precious kohai (underclassmen) the values of tradition and our culture. Then this woman comes along with her silly unnaturally-colored hair like some delinquent and sends the message to those same kohai - first as a professor, then as the headmistress - that it's perfectly fine to ignore thousands of year’s worth of all those traditions and culture! It's about time I take my revenge for her transgressions, leading my poor underclassmen so far astray after I've worked so hard to teach them what has been sacred and valued for ages.’

@Arno Dorian

Hearken still, you wondering, wandering wix, to yet another accuser who fairly did admit no true transgression exists betwixt him and Headmistress Mori, but did truthfully attest to possibly being a little 'delulu' in their own right," and Stephen raised one hand and circled his index finger a number of times near his temple while intoning "Cuckoo! Cuckoo! It's clocking with me that evidence may be frog's hair thin on this one, but he paid his 5 tickets, and she will be on the Seat of Inquisition anyway, so why not? Here are her further charges as filed by Mr. Arno Dorian," and Stephen stepped aside once again to let the accuser air his grievance.

'I have no Grievances, but I can be delulu and she probably wronged me at some point in between Hogwarts ball and the Beaux Baton trip by just existing. Or Maybe she's the reason Maria refused to have dessert with me. Perhaps it's the headmistress in Mahou, imparting bad romance habits on the students which in turn stopped @Maria Leung de Almeida as she got influenced with her lies. Her life could've been actively better if we had that dessert.'

@Aiko Mori

Stephen then collected and ceremoniously rolled up the listed grievances into a neat, open-ended cylinder and occasionally raised them over his head or thwacked them in his palm as he continued. "My little enforcers, Elphaba 1 and Elphaba 2, the tiniest of witches, armed only with cupcake frosted lips and sugar-spun smiles, shall escort Headmistress Aiko Mori to the Azkasplash! Seat of Inquisition. As you prepare to disarm your own self by leaving your wand on the tray on this side of the cauldron, Headmistress, ruminate on the sign you shall pass by, asking ' Will You will Prove Worthy?'

After Headmistress Mori was seated above her Cauldron of Chromatic and Culinary Contrition, Stephen motioned for Midorimori-san to stand wherever he was comfortable behind the red chalk line. He was handed a little bucket just large enough to hold three enchanted snowballs, and they were placed so that he would grab the red, blue, and green one in that order.

He nodded respectfully and said simply, "Court is now in session."

The Rolls
Reducio

Ginymi base (Acc) = 20

Aiko Mori base Eva = 15 (-5) --> 10 (Eva) .
The Seat of Inquisition is enchanted and you are unable to move unless or until you are dunked, then you will fall freely.
Because you cannot move, you lose 5 points on your Evasion.

Red (1st throw) Dunked
Ginyami: [1d20]=20 Critical Success. --> Automatic Dunking of the Headmistress;
(+2) added to (Acc) on future rolls.

Aiko: [1d20]= 18 --> Roll does not count because automatically dunked.
Would have been dunked anyway.
The Will you Prove Worthy? signage has magically changed to “Sentenced to Soak!”

Blue (second throw) Not Dunked
Ginyami: [1d20] = 5+ 20(+2) = 27

Aiko: [1d20] = 20 Critical Success --> (not throwing, so no added benefit of Crit Success)
[1d20] = 20 + 10 = 30

27(Acc) < 30 (Eva)
Headmistress is NOT Dunked.

Green
(3rd Throw) Dunked
Ginyami: [1d20] =10 +20(+2) = 32

Aiko: [1d20] =18 + 10= 28

32(Acc) > 28 (Eva)
Headmistress is Dunked

Arno base ACC = 15
Aiko Mori base Eva = 15 (-5) -->10 (Eva) .

Red (1st Throw) Dunked
Arno: [1d20] = 12 + 15 = 27
Aiko: [1d20] = 3+10 = 13

27(Acc) > 13 (Eva)
Headmistress is Dunked

Blue (2nd throw) Dunked

Arno: [1d20] = 3+15 = 18
Aiko: [1d20] =1 Crit Fail +10 = 11 --> (not throwing so no penalty for Crit Fail)
18 (Acc) > 11 (Eva)
Headmistress Dunked

Green (Third Throw) Dunked

Arno: [1d20] = 5 + 15 = 20
Aiko: [1d20] = 5 + 10 = 15
20 (Acc) > 15 (Eva)
Headmistress Dunked

The next few minutes were brutal to watch. If Headmistress Mori was not a Pisces, or born in the year of the fish, or even a fan of the Little Mermaid, she must have been wishing she was. Two accusers approached her, and 5 out of the 6 six throws dropped her into the drink. Little could have made it worse for her except one or both of the two accusers hitting a bull’s-eye on their final throw, giving them yet more chances to try and drop her. To her credit, she pulled herself out each time and climbed back up onto the Seat of Inquisition, but the precision with which each of the students threw their snowballs was impressive, no matter who had been sitting up there.

When Midorimori-san had dunked her for the second and last time and was stepping away, triumphant, he was handed one of the WANTED posters by Elphaba 1. This one was now marked with a big “X” through it and the word Guilty appeared at the bottom. “You have proven worthy. If you would like to say any last words to the prisoner, now would be that time.”

Stephen then rushed about quickly to cast the hot air charm on the Headmistress. Not so much, sad to say, to make her more comfortable, but to give a fresh, dry canvas to her next accuser. “Aer Calidus!’

As Midorimori-san had now stepped aside, Mr. Dorian approached and the signage changed back to “Will You Prove Worthy?” “I don’t think there is much need to say anything. We’ve all been given a masterclass in snowball throwing, so here is your bucket of snowballs, and aim true.’

Stephen quickly lunged back and barked out that court was back in session, and the crowd held its breath as the first throw was made. They did not have to hold it long as down she went. Again. One of them had proven worthy, and it was not the accused. In fact, as successful as the first accuser had been, the second one was even more so. Mr. Dorian accomplished nothing less than a trifecta of torrential trauma. After the last snowball had hit its mark and the Headmistress had barely had time to stand back up, the crowd erupted into chants of “Let them have cake!"

Stephen approached the accuser, smiling wide, and pointed him to the sign that showed the Headmistress had been Sentenced to Soak!, and he had been found worthy. He, like Midorimori-san before him, was given the WANTED poster with an “X” through it and the word Guilty printed on it. He thanked him for his participation and wished him many happy desserts in the future.

To Mahoutokoro’s Headmistress, as he dried her off for the final time, Stephen quipped, "You have Not Proven Worthy. In fact, your Sentenced to Soak! punishments have felt like Aggravating Factors were added into the mix. You’ve gone from damp to downright drenched — waterlogged even. Those who accused you embrace your sodden splendor!” Then he leaned over to her and told her privately that he hoped she had even a little fun and thanked her for being a good sport. And with that, Stephen hurried to get everything set back up in case more splashy fun was to be had.

Aiko had been pleasantly engaged in paperwork that had been left over from the school year in her tent, simply attired in a long tank top, and shorts to keep cool in the shadowed tent. She was getting tired of it though, and the laughs and chatter going on outside tempted her to give it up for the day and go explore. There were infinite ways to enjoy the day, and she could think of nothing better than wondering around, enjoying the sunshine rather than working on this dreaded paperwork. There was plenty of time still, though the new school year was hiding just around the corner. Aiko wondered of she was foolish to hope that the former headmistress was still alive and would return. But then again, she found that by the end of the year she had somewhat found a groove, and she hoped that this upcoming year, the role would feel more comfortable. But then again, it would likely depend on what occurred how comfortable it was. After the events of Pyre, there had been enormous fallout from the parents of students, and it had seemed like she had been managing that for most of the last year. Even now she still occasionally got letters. She hoped that this summer camp would put to rest the remaining worried parents’ mind so the letters would fully come to a stop. But she was sure that something would come up.

Hearing a sound behind her, Aiko smiled and went to greet the two young students that had entered her trunk, inquiring about what they wished, only to be pulled to her feet and pulled out of her tent. “Please remove your hands from me and tell me where you’re taking me. I’m happy to help you but I’m uncertain of what is going on.” She told them in no uncertain terms, a frown on her face. The two students marched on with nary a word and directed her towards the area where student’s booths were set up. It seemed her exploration would start earlier than she had thought.

She had given up on finding out what was going on when they arrived at a booth that looked jail-like with a tank full of water. Aiko was starting to get an inkling of what was happening, and she wished she would have had some heads-up if only to wear clothes that would be more suitable for being dunked. Looking at who she assumed was the owner, she said “This is quite imaginative and well set-up, but I would have appreciated some warning.” Unfortunately the last of her words was drowned out by a bell being rung quite loudly. She cringed slightly, the sound being quite jarring.

Sighing, Aiko pasted a smile on her face and allowed the power of positivity to take over. After all, this seemed like fun, and hopefully none of the students would hit and she could avoid the dunking.

Aiko was shocked to see that one of her students was the first up. Though admittedly she shouldn’t have been. After all, what students from other schools would even really recognize her much less wish her to be on the hot seat.

She listened carefully to Midorimori-san and began to think of a response. Though she didn’t have as much as she would like. “Well this is quite a nice surprise.” Though she may have spoke too soon as they spoke about her supposed delinquency. It was only through the power of many years of brushing her mother’s words off that she was able to do the same to these words. After all, hadn’t she just been saying how out of place she had felt as headmistress, only feeling more comfortable towards the end of the last school year. “I will take your words under consideration. However, I give you this to think on, tradition does not mean it is the best way.” Admittedly it wasn’t that great of a thought, she had only had it half-formed before she started to speak, but she figured it would be good to respond.

Tilting her head to the side, Aiko had no clue who the second accuser was and honestly wasn’t quite sure what they were talking about. “I’m unsure why Ms. Leung de Almedia refused, but I can confess I had nothing to do with it. I’m sorry, but I don’t even recognize you.” Again, the answer was probably not what they wanted to hear but it was something at least.

It seemed like this person had been talking to her mother as the constant refrain on her singleness was only slightly modified. Her mother always chose that to complain about first, then her hair and then her job. Though admittedly she was sure that becoming Headmistress of Mahoutokoro was something she would celebrate. But only for a short time before her mother linked being headmistress to being forever single. There truly was no winning with her mother.

Getting a poke from the first years, she shuffled towards the tank, spotting somewhere she was pretty sure was for her wand, if only because it was the perfect size for a wand-shaped object. Reluctantly, Aiko put her wand in the space, closing it and ensuring it was secure. She knew that cursing or jinxing a student was not what she should do, but she wished for just the moment she could have done something.

Climbing up onto the seat, there was nothing to do but watch as Midorimori-san stepped up to take their best shot. Smiling peacefully, Aiko prepared herself for anything though of course the best case scenario would be to remain on the platform until the end. Realizing she hadn’t asked about how many chances there would be, Aiko asked the owner, “Excuse me, but could you tell me how many chances there are? I don’t recall that being mentioned.”

Just after she asked the question, she was dropped into the water, spluttering as she hadn’t had time to do anything more than close her mouth. The water rushed up her nose and she mentally cursed the burning feeling. Rising to the top, she grimly pulled herself back up, only settling herself for a moment before once more falling below. This time she had at least been smart about it and plugged her nose, the burning feeling having gone down quite a bit. “I think you should switch from Keeper to Chaser Midorimori-san. Your throwing skills would be of benefit in that position.”

Climbing back up, she figured she would just keep doing this until someone told her she could leave. Thankfully it seemed like her turn might be at an end, though she didn’t recall the second student getting their chance. Stephen stepped up to dry her, and she smiled happily, gripping the side of the seat to start climbing off. But within moments she realized that it was not over, and she was indeed going to need to sit a bit longer. Admittedly now that she had gotten over a bit of the shock, she was enjoying it. “Well, this doesn’t seem too bad.” She said as she prepared to once more face the water below.

And then, three times she went under, barely having time to climb back up and seat herself before she was once more plunged in. By the end, she gave up even trying to shake her soaking hair out of her face. “Well, I hope you feel that you’ve got your money’s worth, and enjoyed your time here. Like Midorimori-san I think you would make an excellent chaser if you’re not already on the quidditch team.”

She waited patiently to be dried once more, and then waited for some indication of whether she had finished her turn or not. Responding to the private words, she quietly told them “Thank you, once I got over the shock it was a nice little break. And I commend you on the idea, it’s quite imaginative. Good luck with the rest of your day.”
