Bludgers and Bravery

One hour before Quidditch Practice. 6 pm.
Kavi dragged the trunk full of Quidditch supplies to the center of the pitch nestled in the mountains of Elang Jawa, broom in the other hand. It was a beautiful night- with the sun going down, the heat was lifting, making it a perfect night for their first practice. Kavi really wanted to hit the ground running this year, tryouts being held late last week. He had lofty goals to play one of the local recreational Quidditch teams at the end of the month, but he knew they'd need plenty of practice in order to get there. He had a decently young team, but it meant they had more time to be molded into star players. Even Kavi was at the pitch early, going to run through his own drills before running them for the team, and filling out some strategies.
He set his broom down and leaned against the trunk, pulling out a clipboard and marker. He left the cap between his teeth as he thought, frantically scribbling plays that only he could understand as he nodded his head. "That should do it," he said to himself once he was happy with the shapes and scribbles that claimed to be a strategy. Only the boy's racing mind knew what he expected from the swirls.
While Quidditch was usually something he excelled at, cleared his mind even, tonight it was doing anything but. The beginning of the year always led to new scenarios, new people, new problems, and thus, new nerves. He could feel the nerves, the excitement reverberating through his fingertips as he opened the trunk, pulling out his familiarly-worn beater's bat and woven Ratan ball. Kavi tossed it around a few times, shifting the bat from palm to palm, getting a feel for it again, the excitement of the new year settling in him again.
He was excited to see what adventures the year would hold.
ReducioUp in the heights of the mountains the quidditch and broom racing course can be found. Weaving in between the peaks, through thick rainforest patches and into tumultuous stormy weathers summoned from the Islands protection spells broom racers will find no easy route through the course that inspires them to work with nature and find its flow. While the quidditch pitch follows the traditional western design, Tenūsians are familiar with a few changes. Firstly quidditch balls were more commonly woven out of ratan and a gamelan ball was used for a snitch, techniques used in sports such as sepak takraw were often implemented and as such you would see athletes from Tenūsa using every part of their body in play not just their hands and arms. Local and school games held here brought people from all across the island supporting and encouraging those young and old to soar the skies. Sport in Tenūsa was just another artform of expression and many interested in pursuing it as a career would find a dukun from Elang Jawa fitted them perfectly, acting as both a coach and educator.
