The Most Cliché of Encounters
XXXThe hallways were growing suffocating, the crowds forging through the corridors like every person was the most important and they all had to get to their destination first. Eonaria slipped out from the mob to escape into the courtyard for some fresh air.
XXXThe weather was quite mild for January, though clouds covered the sky. A breeze drifted through the courtyard, the fountain's streams bubbling and splashing into the water below. The mossy growth underfoot was of a comfortable texture, padding the cobblestones yet not annoyingly soft.
XXXThere were a few other students sitting by the fountain or hanging out in the corner, but Eonaria ignored them, opting to just rest against the nearest wall with a heavy sigh. A few months ago, she might have been worried about the thin layer of dust that covered the stones, but she honestly could not care less now about the leaves that might be getting caught in her hair. She could just brush them out later. Getting caught up in the busy throng of Hogwarts was a more pressing matter.
XXXEonaria watched the crowd pass by through the arches of the courtyard walls, her gaze getting caught randomly on things that stood out to her: red scarves, blue hair ornaments, purple book covers. The world was incredibly busy all the time, but right now, she just needed a moment to cool down. She closed her eyes, squeezing the handles of her bookbag.
XXXThe sun was beginning to set, sinking down past the rooftops. While the sky around it was painted in swatches of gold and violet, the expanse to the west was rapidly darkening to reveal the stars. Eonaria took another deep breath before finally turning around to rejoin the crowd of students, only to walk right into one of them with a harsh thump, sending her reeling back in surprise.
