Painting Memories Pv

Damien was entering inside of the study room as he held in his hand some paint brushes he brought from his collection as he looked for a simple place to sit down to practice his paintings, he hadn't painted in awhile and decided why not paint at Hogwarts, plus it gave him an excuse to paint the beautiful scenery that is Hogwarts. He looked out the window noticing how the sun was rising which gave off one of the most beautiful views in his opinion as he took out a canvas and put it on a easel before he began to paint.

he continued to paint as he hummed quietly to himself staying concentrated as he continued painting the outside landscape of Hogwarts. He had to admit Hogwarts was quite pretty when it came to seeing beautiful sites as well as the most gorgeous view he ever seen, he finally took a step back before looking at his painting admiring his handy work.

"Huh...this might be one of the best ones I've ever painted"

He smirked as he began to add the water colors to it making sure to go into detail on the canvas, every gently stroke adding a touch of life to this once simple painting making it more extravagant than before, he smiled softly to himself happy with his progress.

Oliver's footsteps pattered through the odd quite hall's of Hogwarts, It was one of those rare days. Were the weather was perfect, And everything was going right. No fights at breakfast, from the looks on peoples faces there at least, no one looked to be in a bad mood. Well of course Oliver Armani was somehow in a bad mood. When wasn't he really? He had spent to much time on his homework and had gotten out of the stupid common room much later then he had wanted. So now he was rushing though the hall way's. Not running of course, he had learned not to run indoors when he fell down the stairs as a young boy. Lucky that time his first instance of magic had kicked in. Oliver was not stupid enough to test his luck twice.

He wanted to get to the study hall 'early', stupid boy should have started there in the first place. But alas here he was. Going up there to paint, the lighting was better then in the caves that could be called the Slytherin common room. An issue that would have never come up if he had just been placed in Gryffindor instead of the mistake that happened. Whatever. Not thinking about that. Oliver to could try to have a good day like his peers. And to do that, he would paint.

Nothing more had brought him more joy then painting. Entering the study room, it was.. rather full. Fuck. Oliver sighed. Was it even full? No not really, but each of the tables had at least one person at them. And one person was enough for Oliver to want to leave right out the room and try again another day. For the better or worse the Armani's had an 'If I'm already here, Might as well.' mentality. And Oliver was already here. May as well find someone worthy of him sitting by them.

He walked a little around the room, sneering at the work other students were doing. One- Oliver presumed Hufflepuff. -was making friendship bracelets. No chance in hell freezing over would he sit there, less they tired to make him one. Of course, you did have those studying. By the looks on there faces, a small group of students was not having fun with it. Pass. Incase they dared ask for his help. Other people studying solo, and what not other activities. All of them ignored.

Then, a boy taller then himself, with mousy brown hair, sat alone. Painting. Not just any type of painting. Watercolor. The clear superior means to put color on canvases. Sure Oliver wasn't so closed minded to not use other styles, but no mater what he did. Watercolor was always the best one. Because he was here, and now he had found a boy that may have been worth his time. Oliver went over to the otherwise empty table, and took a seat across from him. Taking out his supplies. Not saying a word just yet. Not until his brush was wetted. And he started to work. "I'm sitting here." If it wasn't clear already.

Not looking up from his painting, the painting it's self being one of a garden. Not a plain muggle one with just daffodils and roses. This one was far more interesting, filled with more wizarding plants. Those they learned about in herbology. "My name is Oliver," He said to him, adding the brown to the boxes holding the plants. "I respect your use of watercolor." Finally looking up at him, Oliver's bright blue eyes meeting the other boy's grey-blue. "What's your name?"

Damien continued to paint the landscape of Hogwarts making sure he invested his time in every gentle stroke with his brush, adding details that people would normally over look. Like the way the water of the great lake shimmered against the sunlight as it was setting, or like the humming of the fire flies as they began to come out during the night. Damien enjoyed painting scenes like this as it gave him great pride in knowing small little details about every little thing he saw. He dipped his paint brush into the water before dipping it onto the dark green palate before adding the finishing details on the landscape of the painting really catching the beauty of it. He slowly began to hum to himself softly humming a simple melody noting too extravagant but just the right tune of elegant as he finished the details of his painting.

He began to do more gentler strokes with his paint brush making the flicker of the fire flies look almost as if they were alive. He smiled softly at his painting as he quite enjoyed how it turned out. He was starting to add the final touches on his painting before he heard the sound of shoes stomping before he heard someone take the chair next to him. He didn't pay it much mind as only thing he really noticed about them was that they were using water colors as well. he hadn't really looked up to see how they look yet.

it wasn't until Damien heard them say they were sitting here with him, that he gave them a small nod before going back to his painting, Damien thought that would be the end of their interaction before he heard him say that his name was Oliver and Damien had to admit Oliver was a pretty nice name had what was the word he was thinking of... a nice ring to it that was the word!

He then heard him say that he respected Damien's use of watercolor and asked what Damien name was. Damien just smiled slightly before he turned around and looked up and saw Oliver face. Oliver had bright blue eyes that were very beautiful if Damien said so himself and had blond curly locks of hair which Damien had to admit added into his physical appearance a lot. "Thank you very much for the compliment Oliver was it ? He asked with a soft smile as he continued talking. I'm Damien, Damien Dragonclaw and its a pleasure to meet you" He said before finally adding the last minute touches to his painting before he set his paint brush down gently and held out his hand for Oliver to shake. Even if he didn't shake his hand it was still the polite thing to do when meeting someone or so Damien parents told him.

Oliver rolled his eyes, Appearances could be deceiving so it seamed. Sure the boy used watercolor, but pointed out the obvious. He had said his name was Oliver, so him asking if it was right seamed redundant to the boy. He forced a smile this time, "Yes, It was Oliver. Wouldn't have said it otherwise." His brow raised as well, had anything that he said been a complement? He didn't think so, complements were rare from him, he merely said it was a small respect. Something that was quickly being lost.

"Dragonclaw..." Oliver said, feeling the name in his words. Dipping his brush and starting to paint, he would normally start with a sketch, but today he was daring. Was 'winging it' if you will. He let out a small hum. "That's in interesting last name." He commented, not bothering to hide the slightly judgmental tone. He didn't care if someone's feelings got hurt, over simple words. If they did, then that was on them. Not Oliver. They could suck it up or cry, he didn't care.

He looked at Damian's extended hand, and then back at him, and then his canvas. And got back to work. Ignoring the invitation to shake it. Pleasure to meet him, of course. If only Oliver could say the same to him. He didn't know enough about him to say much, only so far that he painted, and pointed out what was clear. He let out a small sigh as he continued to paint. Switching colors, giving a little time for the first one to dry, the slight blending would add a nice background.

He paused only to glance up at Damian, Oliver was never one to be a conversation starter, never once. He kept painting. Thinking that Damian would perhaps say something, yet he didn't. He let out a small huff, and fully put the brush down. He guessed there was a first for everything, even if he didn't like it much at all. "Not much of a conversationist are you?" He asked shaking his head, looking him up and down. It was a little hard to tell with them sitting. But he was sure the boy in front of him was taller then him. Again, he let out a huff at this.

Why? Because Oliver was annoyed by everything. Even small things like making sure the name was right. Or someone being taller then him. He rolled his eyes, did he have to start everything? He may have been better off heading back to the common room. But he was here now, so he should at least try to make the best. "So Damian," He said, almost using the name like a curse. Almost. "What house are you in? If I may ask?" He had already asked, he didn't care if it bothered Damian, pure hypocrisy on his part. Oliver cared what house he was in, and if someone asked. But he would pretend not to care. Like he did a lot.

Damien picked up on the hint of annoyance almost in Oliver voice and figured it was something he had probably said. “Apologize I just didn’t wanna be seen as rude as i sometimes forget names so I wanted to remember it. He said as he spoke in an elegant and calm tone, he only spoke like this around other purebloods mainly when he was with his father at fancy events but he could easily tell Oliver had to be a pureblood so he figured maybe speaking in this tone would keep himself from slipping up and upsetting or angering the boy.

He heard how the boy said his last name and how it was a interesting name but it wasn’t in like a impressed or fascinated tone more so in a judgmental one which he quickly made note of before responding to him. “Yes the noble house of Dragonclaw has been a powerful pureblood family for generations so I guess it could be seen as interesting” He said calmly as he continued his painting deciding the more detail the better as he was lost in the moment like he, himself was the painting.

He put his hand away as he realized it was pointless as Oliver clearly didn’t wanna shake his hand at all, he was just about to go back to his painting when he heard Oliver let out a huff and look over at him asking Damien if he wasn’t much of a conversationalist. “Apologies I was under the impression that you seem uninterested in a conversation with me so was just doing what my father told me.” He said as he mumbled that last part, his father had always taught him that if someone seem uninterested in a conversation with you don’t say a word at all and mind your business. Damien never fully understood that lesson until he learnt it himself at a party where he attempted to speak to a pureblood woman who didn’t even spare him a second glance and as a eager boy would do he attempted to do so again but his father stepped in and reminded him of this lessons so he’d never forget it.

Damien went back to his painting adding some final details like ducks in the lake as he continued the gentle but precise technique he did whenever he painted, he quite enjoyed this sure Oliver seemed extremely rude but noting Damien hasn’t dealt with before and painting keeps him calm or from lashing out so he’d be alright. He set his paint brush down to let this part dry first before turning towards Oliver as he listened to him ask him a question.

“Oh, I’m um.. I’m sadly in Ravenclaw He said as he didn’t really think being in Ravenclaw was sad or even pathetic but it was a constant reminder and would continue to be for the next six years how he was a dissapointment, a disappointment to his father, to his grandmother and the rest of the Dragonclaw family who was all in Gryffindor. He could even imagine all the comments and words he’ll get back home at the Dragonclaw manor with the family portraits or even worse his father. That’s what scares Damien the most as he didn’t care what the portraits or his grandmother said sure granted it would hurt and wouldn’t feel good but if their was one thing he couldn’t bare was to look his father in the face and hear him say “You’re a complete and utter failure, sometimes I wish you wasn’t my son.” That was one of Damien’s biggest fears as he tried so hard to please his father and make him proud but the more he tried the more he realized he would never be good enough to gain his fathers approval.

What am I doing…don’t be a idiot if you show weakness infront of him he may take it as you're a weakling He looked away from Oliver for a moment to look at his Painting as he didn’t want to be called weak or pathetic incase his face showed his true emotion, he slowly put his walls back up before picking up his paint brush dipping it into the red paint and began to paint out what was the outline and base for a picnic blanket next to the lake. “What about you, what house are you in ?” He asked Oliver softly as his tone of voice was back to being in that calm state he spoke in when he had to put his walls up and be on guard at all times.

He slowly waited for Oliver reply as he continued to paint the picnic blanket now using white paint to make the red and white checkered pattern on the blanket, his idea for this part of the painting was that maybe a group of students were outside near the lake hanging out having a picnic and just laughing and overall having a good time like they all were best friends. This painting was more than just a prettt painting it was a reflection of Damien a reflection of how he wanted his father’s approval more than anything, a reflection of how he yearned to find friends and just overall support while he was at Hogwarts as he didn’t really know anyone yet and felt alone, more alone than how he was at home when it was just him, his thoughts and his books to keep him company. That was why Damien tried to be so out going and approachable maybe a little two hard as deep down there was this feeling of longing something he needed. Because deep down what he really wanted and really needed was a “Friend Just even one friend would do as he wanted to get the feeling of find a place where he belonged with someone.

He let out a silent sigh as he began painting the the students at this picnic basket making sure to pay extra attention to the detail of their expressions as they had a pleasant smile on their face almost like they were laughing and just genuinely enjoying themselves and the company that they were in before he began to paint another person this time a boy who sat underneath a tree with a book in his lap looking over at the group, almost like he was yearning for that, yearning to be apart of their group yearning to be included, yearning to just have a few friends. That boy represented Damien as he felt Excatly like that he even made sure to make his hair the same shade of brown as his while also giving it the same curly length his had. His mother always said that he had a talent when it comes to painting as she always thought he could make a regular painting he did have layers upon layers of meanings so many in fact that she’d learn something new every time she looked at it and try to grasp a good understanding of it.

While his father would say his art was pointless his mother saw the potential he had in him and supported every single paining he did as well as learning what it meant and why he interpreted the world like this. His answer was always you can always see people in many different ways so why wouldn’t you see the world in multiple different ways. That was the thing about Damien some people may see him one way while others may see him another way so he’s always viewed the world like that as it helped him interpret things much better as well as interpret himself and his feelings like never before.
