One piece of advise—and it will do one good if one listens to Aurelia Valentine and what she has to say—if Ruth Fairchild has cornered you in order to inform that she has procured a brilliant idea ever, do not ever listen to it. The young badger advises the victim to scream loudly, if in an open area one should cast the Red Sparks Charm and fervently hope a trusted adult will catch a glimpse of the help signal and drag one away from the perceivable location. The raven-haired badger had fallen to such trap, of course, and perhaps would not live for another day. Once Ruth whispered her greatest idea known to man, sardonically speaking, in her ear, her face immediately crumpled to express her disapproval. The wretched girl stood in front of her, unmoved, her face is quite bright which constrasted the fact on how dim-witted her idea really is. The girl even refused to claim that it, indeed, is too. The wretched girl suggested they should build a campfire outside, roast marshmallows, and talk about life while munching some stupid s'mores. Such a cringe-worthy take, if one thinks about it. A horrifying thought, of course. For Aurelia, it is such a fire hazard. They are kids—and the probability of accidentally burning the cottage cabin and the entirety of the forest is high. They could be expelled, be thrown into wizarding prison for a horrendous, accidental crime. This is not something she considered in her prospects. So the young badger immediately declined, already listing the consequences of a campfire. But of course, Ruth relenting could also be considered very not-Ruth at all, and so the girl pushed on the idea, eventually forcing the idea down Aurelia's throat. The conversation probably went on for hours before Aurelia gave up, palming her face in evident frustration as she shook her head in defeat. It did not stop there, if one expected it to be. Ruth tasked her to announce the idea to others, order them to prepare everything in order so they could start that fateful night. She believed this request would be stretching it things in her boundary, as she initially planned not to be associated with people unfamiliar to her, especially those outside of the Hufflepuff House. The girl argued there is something important she needs to do and would not be available to execute the idea. Inherently pondering the fact that everything works in Ruth's favour and none for her, she decided that she needed to unwind. Her muggle ballpoint pen in one hand and her small notebook in another, she scribbled furiously as she sat on the wooden front porch, her curls styled into a messy bun pinned by her black walnut wand, her rebellious curls sticking everywhere as golden-tinted bubbles surrounds and floated about her, reflecting the light of the sun, specifically as it sets to the East. Casting a Bubble Producing Charm ought to cheer one up. Once she's done, she pushed the wooden, rickety door open in order to announce herself. Ambulating towards the center table, she cleared her throat, her heart thumping in her chest as though hooves of running horses. Oh, how she despised attention to the moon and back. "Ruth thought it will be such a nice idea to build a campfire outside—which is quite illogical if you think about it as Beauxbâtons provided a cabin for us to temporarily stay for the holidays—you know, roast marshmallows, make s'mores, and all that dangerous activities that requires an adult to supervise us. If you are very much against this, it will do us good to raise your hand," she started, her deep brown eyes shifting from familiar faces to unfamiliar ones before proceeding. "In order for this stupid idea—which I very much disapprove—to commence, it is necessary for all of us to work together." Checking her small notebook again, she spoke. "Fairchild and Anezaki will be tasked to prepare the food, like marshmallows, chocolates, and crackers. Feel free to add more to that. Graham, Thornfield, and me will be tasked to prepare blankets and pillows outside. Lastly, Napier, Dehoff, and Minatozaki will be tasked to search for twigs, sticks, and short stumps—wood," the young Hufflepuff witch turned to the last three, her expression crumpled to a frown, a warning in her gaze. "Once I'm done helping my partners I will follow suit; out of all of us I might be the only one who knows how to cast the Four-Point spell and I can't risk for you three to get lost in the heart of the forest. I suggest casting a Red Sparks Charm in order to get help—for emergency purposes only. I will hex anyone who would attempt to cast it for a laugh, as I will not be the only one who would be able to see the signal. Adults too. Professors. Worse, the Headmistress of Beauxbâtons herself, Mrs. Célestine de la Croix-Valmer. We are here to set an example; we are representing Hogwarts. We cannot afford to be perceived as the laughingstock of other foreign schools." With purposeful strides, Aurelia walked towards the girls' room, intending to start collecting pillows. But first, she stopped in the doorway before whirling around to face them all. "I'm open to suggestions. And of course, if, for instance, a professor or a groundskeeper caught us out of our cabin even after curfew, point fingers to Ruth as it is her idea, after all." |

Speech -- Thoughts
One of these days, Pam was going to end up confessing her undying love for Mamori Anezaki.
Or his brain. Ideas. Whatever.
Had Pam mentioned how big her sweet tooth was? Anyone who knew her for a while knew her love for all kinds of sweets, especially chocolates. So, when the pink haired cosplayer of Anya Forger (Pam had no clue since when her brain had taken to calling him that, all she knew was that she was keeping it) had shown up with the huge bag of marshmallows, she had probably been the happiest of the whole lot. Besides, considering that her occasional longing for the green potion had not fully died (or come even close really) all kinds of sweets had proven to be a pretty good replacement.
Downside of such sweets loving? She had practically squeaked like an idiot in her attempt to not scream out of joy and had probably, probably ruined whatever little public image that had come into existence with the presence of three new people.
Not that that bothered her much.
Aurelia Valentine was the opposite of her in this situation. The girl had been unhappy at the thought of the activity and even more at the fact that Ruth had put her in charge of the situation. So she had taken a quick leave after threatening to hex them into oblivion. Had she been scary? Yes. Did Pam had a habit of laughing when she was scared? Also, yes.
In her opinion, she had probably been given the easiest of jobs. Collecting blankets and pillows? She was all for it. Besides, most of the boys, besides Mamori had been tasked with collecting wood and the last time she had tried that while camping with her father......well, she would prefer to not have that happen again. It's a good day to be a female.
So she followed Aurelia into the girls' room, not bothering to try to keep the skip out of her movements. Of course, she did not forget to grab her best friend along the way, "Let's go." She sang to Ira, adding under her voice, "Should we try annoying Auri some more?"

| For someone who radiated pure innocence at first glance, Ruth had a surprisingly devious side that Mamori was becoming increasingly aware of. Exhibit A: her bizarre ninja-like tendency to lurk in the common room with minimal presence, only to materialize behind someone's back and nearly trigger a cardiac arrest. Exhibit B was that recent Quidditch match where she'd started blatching opponents barely five minutes into her first ever game, treating it like some textbook-approved move rather than the obvious foul it was (and no, he absolutely wasn't bitter about her stealing his blatching role). Now, Exhibit C: this entire marshmallow roasting fiasco. The event was her brainchild, and she'd probably had a hand in the task assignments too, yet somehow Aurelia — who'd rather eat dirt than organize social events — was now front and center, playing dictator and barking orders while Ruth maintained her carefully crafted image of angelic neutrality in the background. No doubt she was waiting for the perfect moment to step in as the voice of reason, further cementing her reputation as everyone's favorite mediator.
Mamori was seriously starting to wonder if Ruth had blackmail material on Aurelia. It was the only logical explanation for why the usually stubborn girl had shown such sudden compliance. And this, folks, is why we don't share potentially incriminating information with Ruth Fairchild. Not even under torture. Not even as a deathbed confession.
As for Aurelia's endless spiel about Four-Point spells and red sparks and how they'd somehow manage to embarrass the entire school by getting lost in the woods — Mamori had learned to tune out these parts. Classic Aurelia and her worst-case scenarios, where apparently a simple firewood collection could spiral into the apocalypse — never mind that 99% of her doomsday predictions existed purely in her imagination. The way she was going, combining her love of hearing herself talk, walking dictionary syndrome, and chronic overthinking, she'd be sporting wrinkles and grey hair before their final exams even started.
Before the girls could vanish into the distance, Mamori quickly dumped his oversized bag of marshmallows and shot his hand up. "Point of order," he started, keeping the tone as non-confrontational as possible, "While I wholeheartedly support this wonderful initiative, I do have some thoughts about the task distribution process. Perhaps we could explore a more democratic approach? Maybe let people choose their roles, or better yet, let Lady Luck decide through the time-honored tradition of drawing lots?" Prep work suited him fine, especially since he'd contributed a third of the ingredients, but boys help boys. These poor homies being sentenced to manual labor would never forgive him if they came back covered in soot only to find him lounging around stuffing his face with marshmallows & chocolates. That was a one-way ticket to social exile in the boys' dorm — best case scenario would be cold shoulders for a week, worst case they'd hex his blankets to feel perpetually damp. And Mamori rather liked his blankets dry and his roommates speaking to him.
Turning to Ruth, he added, "Ruth, since this was your idea, don't you think the task assignments could use a touch more... fairness?" Which was his polite way of saying 'stop lurking in the shadows and take some responsibility for this mess, girl.'| ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Banner done by lovely @Aurelia Valentine
CAT'S GRACE IS IN EFFECT.
𝕽uth let out puffs of breath, her coat heavier than it had been when she had left. As she jogged back to the cabin under the darkening sky, the heavyweight thudded against her thigh, making her wince every few seconds. Yet, she made no move to remove it. Ruth felt it to be too rude to squeeze it between her palm should pet rocks actually have sentient feelings, and the coats pockets were probably warm enough for it. It, because Ruth had yet to decide its gender, or name. As far as Ruth knew, the little one may just as well be a starter template, innocent googly eyes untrained to follow her as @Joseph Sims handed it over. That was a reason as to why she had no choice but to place Aurelia under the reign of separating people into duties, no matter how much she could see it within her eyes how reluctant the Hufflepuff had looked. Should she have really put her friend up to the task? A slight pang of guilt stung her chest as she grew closer to the door. Peeking in Ruth realised that Aurelia had already begun her long-winded but completely necessary speech of handing out tasks and then going about with an endless review on warnings, which Ruth hadn't essentially thought of pre-plan.
She slipped in quietly. Nobody was bound to notice her, having been facing away from the door. And so she was quick to position herself not far from Anezaki and at the very back of the room, where she lounged, arms crossed and waiting for Aurelia to finish. Ruth cast a lingering stare across the room towards the bedroom, a slight conflict of whether to sneak in or not sizzling up. The rock was starting to grow heavy, and she needed to pick up the essential-- Wizard Crackers.
Still shuffling in her dilemma, Ruth hadn't noticed that Aurelia had finished off her speech (meaning she missed the last bit in the process) and had begun to leave, and so had Pam, who was surprisingly quick to action. Mamori, on the other hand, had blatantly shot an arm into the air.
Oh no no no, Ruth reached forward to tug at Mamori's collar lightly, placing a finger on her lips. "Drawing lots won't do," she told him and the others still around. "These tasks have been distributed by Aurelia based on the person's potential around the duty. Not saying you're weak, of course," she dropped her voice down, her fingers now gripping the edge of his sleeve as she gently led him away from the living room to the kitchen counter, which was bare. She allowed him to place the marshemllows on top or beside the counter, before crouching down to open up cabinets and make a grab for bowls.
"Look, I chose you to work with me because you're the only one I trusted with this," she murmured low to him, her eyes flitting up to gauge his expression every so often. "How fond are you of pranks?" She asked him, louder now since the two were gradually the only ones left in the cabin. "And math. Math would be good."
That was, if he knew what Math is. Ruth wasn't entirely sure of how Magical Education Systems worked, seeing as though Hogwarts lacked in the Sciences and Mathematics, even English. Whatever it was that she was taught in the school, Ruth would have trouble finding a muggle job to do.
Opening up another cupboard, she heaved out the package of chocolates, amusingly containing bars within. Convinient. Ruth began to peel open the wrapper of one, then proceed to break them into pips, small enough to be sandwiched between two Crackers.
And one may just be Wizard.

Jan wasn’t fond of going outside at night, especially in a forestry environment. The air was quite chilly in Beauxbatons', wildlife animals might appeared, and worst of all, it cut into his beauty sleep. He much preferred to be tucked under a warm blanket, waking up refreshed instead of groggy and itchy. But, of course, that wasn’t an option tonight.
When he was assigned to gather firewood, he had sighed—long and heavy, as if it would somehow lighten the burden. He didn’t bother arguing; collecting wood wasn’t difficult, just tedious. Like picking up trash and tossing it into the right bins. Very simple, indeed.
Still, he took his time getting up. The wooden floor of the cabin creaked as he dusted himself off, brushing stray wood shavings from his robes. His limbs felt heavy, not from exhaustion but from sheer reluctance. He rolled his shoulders, casting a glance toward Saunders and Ameko before speaking.
“C’mon, you two,” he said to them, voice flat with resignation. His sandy brown hair fell into his eyes, and he raked a hand through it before reaching for his lantern. “Grab a lantern as well.”
Jan lifted his own, its warm candlelight flickering behind the glass. The flame wavered slightly as he moved, casting shifting shadows along the wooden walls of the cabin.
The night air greeted him the moment he stepped outside, cool against his skin. It smelled of damp earth and pine, a scent he usually found pleasant—except when it meant being outside this late. He exhaled, watching his breath curl in the air before fading into the darkness.
This shouldn't take that long, right?.. Right?
