𝐋𝐄 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐁𝐀𝐃𝐃𝐈𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐍  valentine's day cabin 2025
Image

This final cabin design would clearly be recognised as having been designed by Headmaster Albrecht. Students from a certain school would recognise the landscape they would see out of the window. The snowy landscape would be cold and austere yet beautiful in a way that space was. The cold and danger of an icy landscape, majestic beyond measure. Out of the window, the inhabitants of the cabin would see a icy lake with snow falling gently at times, hard at times. On the lake, a wooden ship would float near the coast, sailing away at times, and coming back at regular intervals. The trees would shake with the cold winter wind and an icy mountain could be seen in the distance. The living room was simple and modern, but practical. There would be two light grey couches for the students to sit in and a couple footrests. The students would find a black metal dining table as well as a coffee table made with the same material. The coffee table, however would have a layer of glass on it while the dining table would be used directly on the metal. There would be a fireplace with a pine needle wreath upon it as well as a dark grey rug on the ground. The pillows on the couch would be dark red and the blankets were the same colour as well. The bedroom would be beautiful as well, facing a different view of the cold landscape. The curtains on the window would be dark red and made of velvet, tied. The window in the bedroom would face a small cottage in the distance, roof covered in snow. The mountains would be in the center of the view rather than the lake. The trees would be clearer through this window and the evergreen trees would shimmer in the moonlight at night because of the snow on their branches. The candle holder that resembled models of logs and small lamps. The bunk beds would have a view of the window and at night the glow of the sunset and the moon would fill the room with golden warmth.

Ula stepped off the carriage and onto the snowy ground with a grimace tugging at the corners of her lips as the freezing wind slapped her face. She adjusted the collar of her coat, pulling it tighter around her neck. Beauxbatons had seemed like a great idea when she signed up for this trip—what better way to celebrate her birthday than in France (or rather a French school—undoubtedly much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye than Hogwarts)? But this? Snow? Cold? It felt like summer camp all over again—the same ridiculous, inconvenient snow. The last thing she wanted.

Her eyes side-glanced the other students filing off in the distance, heading toward the beachside cabins, no doubt already gloating over their luck. Of course, she was the one who'd been assigned the cabin at the opposite end of the grounds. With the icy mountains looming overhead and the snow falling in thick, heavy flakes, it felt like she was walking straight into some isolated prison. Not the romantic Valentine' Day trip she had hoped for.

Her boots crunched loudly against the snow as she moved forward, still irritated by the sheer absurdity of it all. The last thing she needed was a repeat of last summer—walking into her tent only to find that some idiot girl had decided to infest some of the beds with bugs. This time, she wasn't taking any chances. Ula quickened her pace, her boots sinking slightly into the snow. It better be empty, she thought to herself.

Finally reaching the cabin, she pressed her gloved hand against the handle, pushing it open with a creak. She stepped inside, her sharp gaze sweeping over the interior.

Empty.

A slow smirk pulled at the corner of her lips. Finally, some luck.

The interior was modern, practical, almost sterile in its simplicity. Catching sight of the bedroom—bunk beds, she could already guess the best spot: top bunk by the window. No one could mess with her things from up there, and she'd have a view, even if it was just the bleak, icy landscape.

With a satisfied nod, she strode over to claim it, tossing her bag onto the mattress with an air of finality. For the first time since arriving, her shoulders relaxed just a fraction.

Then, as her eyes drifted over the rest of the room, something caught her attention.

A game box sat on the coffee table, its worn edges and familiar logo almost taunting.

Monopoly.

There was a small part of Jamie which questioned his own decisions, turning them over and re-examining them depending on the severity. And this one in particular? It made sure to cling onto the corners of his mind, leaving behind scars should he tear it away.

A whole week spent in a foreign country, with little to no one around him that he recognized, all for a romantic holiday he had no business participating in. Regarding himself, the boy did not have much he was sure about, but he knew from his very core that socializing often left him feeling drained. Why was he doing this again? At that moment, he was provided an answer in the form of another person flashing across his mind. Of course.

Anogg—the girl he spent most of his clan days with that practically demanded his presence at the event. The same one who learned about the location last minute... and immediately backed out.

Yes, Jamie discovered early on in their "friendship" that it was easier to play along to her whims than offer any resistance, not that he made much to begin with. This, though? This was utterly ridiculous. Why would she rope him in, just to claim France was "shitty" and that she was changing her mind to visit Italy instead? What was even going on in Italy?

A bone-deep sigh had left Jamie then as he made his trek towards the designated cabin. Oh well. The brunette had already resigned himself to his fate, an occurrence he was more than accustomed to, and begun to fortify his mind for the days ahead. It would be tiring, smiling when he didn't wish to smile and laughing at potentially unfunny jokes, but it was fine. Things would be fine, because he had it all under control and his family would expect to hear nothing less.

Though, he certainly faltered upon taking his first step into a pile of... snow? The islander could barely withhold his discomfort, his nose scrunching up in displeasure even when twisting the door handle. Goodness. What had Anogg gotten him into?

Initially, he pushed the door with a gentleness characteristic of someone half his height and double the shyness, his dark brown eyes peeking through the small opening. He couldn't spot anyone yet. Was the universe taking pity on him for getting abandoned?

With a wave of relief washing over him, Jamie proceeded to let himself inside, figuring that it was best to get situated before others could ruin the peaceful atmosphere. He took a moment to absorb the cozy space, one in stark contrast with the frigid view of the windows. Well—it was nice enough. Not something he was accustomed to, considering his inclination for tropical environments, but yes. Nice enough.

That was, until he shifted and laid his eyes on what he assumed to be the bedroom, cracked wide open with someone already inside.

The boy could feel his stomach outright flip and his eyes widen, his body not taking well to getting caught so off guard. Crap, what would his sister do in this situation? Act bubbly, right? Friendly, right?

"Uh, hey! Sorry, didn't really notice you there," he said with a sheepish look coloring his expression. As Jamie spoke, he also moved closer towards the bedroom door, eventually leaning against the frame. Perhaps if one looked closely, it was evident that he was trying to overcome his nerves with nonchalance. That is, if the death grip on his backpack strap was anything to go by.

"Are you the only one here so far? My name is Jamie, by the way." He paused for a second to look her up and down, or rather pretend to do so. He wasn't particularly interested in anything the girl was wearing, but he knew people liked compliments, and his sister would definitely try making others happy. "Oh, and nice coat. It looks cute on you."

Cirrus rubbed his eyes, catching a glimpse of himself in the carriage window's reflection... What was happening to him... His eyes were puffy and red due to just having rubbed them harshly, but there was something else about them, the bright honey color was now replaced with a dark mustard yellow, the whites of his eyes duller than before. It wasn't that much different His face seemed more gaunt, and whenever he walked he felt as if one poke was enough to send him flying in the wind. He was eating still, of course, he was... Just not as much as he usually would due to the only thing he craved being quite out of reach. There wasn't enough good, and too much demand, the claws in his stomach were proof of this.

Cirrus had been so caught up in his reflection he had almost completely forgotten what was going on in the first place as the carriage came to a stop. That's when he remembered, the coffee-haired boy had found himself in France ready to spend his Valentine's week in a cabin... An ice-cold cabin, winter had just ended and here they were in an Artic terrain, but Cirrus didn't mind, winter was one of his favourite seasons... Well, every season was his favourite season if he was honest with himself. When the Hufflepuff exited out of the carriage he was met with a fresh gust of cold air, Cirrus pulled down his ski goggles over his eyes which smacked against his glasses in a very uncomfortable way. The boy silently cursed under his breath as he removed his goggles, took off his glasses, and put the goggles back on. His vision now was incredibly obscured, but it was good enough for him to see the slightly blurred figures and colors around him, clarified enough to be able to differentiate a tree from a mountain.

The boy walked up the cabin in his full ski attire, opening the door to reveal two other people his age. A girl with ebony hair and ivory skin, who he knew as Ula Takahashi, the daughter of Kian Takahashi. As well as a boy he didn't recognize, the boy in question wore a navy blue jacket with light blue jeans, all tied together white a white tee. Cirrus just gave a small awkward wave, and a friendly smile which they probably didn't see until he removed the head gear of his ski attire. His dimples poking out as he did so, they seemed deeper than usual. Cirrus walked over to the couch sitting on the opposite side as Ula observing the two as the interacted. The Hufflepuff took a deep inhale and exhale, he knew sooner or later he would have to face Gekko, his best friend... He had a hard time being around her let alone look at her after all the things he did, but Cirrus knew he couldn't let anyone know, instead he played himself well, politely introducing himself to the boy and greeting Ula. He placed his hand on top his other to hide the small tremble.

The journey to Beauxbatons was beyond dull, cramped with fellow first years in a carriage who spoke louder than the girls in the dormitory, only provided Meiyu with a headache sore enough to prompt her to frequently massage her temples every few minutes. Fortunately, the serene landscape as the students travelled from the Highlands to graciously carved stone hidden away in the middle of nowhere, France. Nothing would warrant Meiyu to travel to such a place without her parents, even if it included the possibilities of finally meeting her only friend, Hans. Equipped with pastries tucked away neatly in her trunk, the trip would ideally serve the young girl with relaxing getaway from the horrors of Hogwarts.

Departing from the carriage, Meiyu was instantaneously met with harsh cold air almost comparable to the Highlands during the cold seasons, something she had only experienced during her short time at the castle during her countless escapades to the Great Lake. Wasting no moment with the mongrels from her own school, she immediately rushed to gather her belongings, trudging her trunk along the snow as she made her way towards her cabin for the next few days; breathing in the clean fresh air which aided in easing the tension she carried along with her.

Freed from the turmoil that was her mind playing devious tricks against her, she almost skipped joyfully away from the carriage, as though metaphorically referencing her brief departure from the events that occurred almost two months ago on that fateful evening, the horrid reminder doing enough to sour her mood instantaneously. As though her feet moved on their own, reaching the cabin in no time, Meiyu was almost dumbfounded by the sight of the people she saw. Two boys and a girl. Upon further inspection, she noted her beautiful dorm-mate, Ula, the Scottish cutie who appeared to have underlying issues, Cirrus and another man? With a big nose? Was this Pinocchio reincarnated? Perhaps it was given his nose prolonged so much she could see it from her perspective, even if he was not directly looking at her. Immediately scowling at the foreign presence in the room, she removed her grip from the trunk she trudged with her the moment she entered the tent, fixated on the figures in the room.

Though, her mood lightened as Meiyu skipped happily towards Ula, wrapping her arms around her as though their journey had forced the two to be apart for days on end, despite their proximity within their own dormitory. "Ula! The journey was horrible, people would not shut up." Meiyu whined with agony at the memory, one she hoped to quickly forget. Yet, her body language would almost mistaken for rudeness, her back faced towards the two boys as she fixated on the pride of Gryffindor, Ula. Immediately reminded of the etiquette she was encouraged to follow, she hesitantly turned to face the two, noting Cirrus supporting a ski outfit, equipped for an avalanche, his eyes dilated and almost bloodshot as though he too, had experienced a similar plague.

"No need to cry, I have pastries with me, it will cheer you up Cirrus!" Meiyu chimed with jest, unsure as to why the trip would even prompt sadness, even if the underlying message behind the entire ordeal was related to the season of love. As her gaze moved from the Scottish-Korean, she noted the other boy, supporting attire suitable for warmer weather, no doubt a foreigner to her and evidently from another school; being good with faces and having adequate memory provided Meiyu with the ability to immediately deduce whom a stranger was. "Has anybody told you that you look like Pinocchio?" She piqued, inching closer to the boy to inspect him, her index finger poking his nose intrusively, smiling ever so slightly in the process.

Inching her hand away, she turned on her heel, walking away from the group to discard her faux fur coat and toss it onto the light grey sofa decorating the center of the tent. The warm atmosphere combined with the number of people providing enough heat to free her from the condiments of her coat she wore, turning around once more to rub her reddened palms together, deviously eyeing the attendees.

As a small child, Hana was initially led to believe Valentine's Day was meant to celebrate the saint himself, causing a great deal of confusion for the wide-eyed girl. What purpose does it serve dedicating an entire day to a plump infant with less-than-appropriate attire? She held a unique detestment for infants, thus it proved impossible to fathom that anyone could hold such deep affection for one—especially one of the fat, blubbery sort. However, she never questioned the seemingly abstruse origins of the holiday—humans were peculiar creatures with enigmatic natures, so this was nothing out of the ordinary.

It was only when her brother revealed his deceptive intentions did Hana learn of the true nature of the holiday, and even then it continued to confuse her. Didn't couples celebrate the eternity of their love every day? Her parents certainly did. It's quite a disgusting sight to behold.

As she grew with the passing years, transforming from a naive 5-year-old to a matured 12 year old, Hana begun to learn what it meant to be loved and to love in return. The meaning of the holiday expanded from simply romantic love to encompassing love in all its different expressions—and soon the eldest Bakir daughter was happily celebrating it in her own strange fashion. Quietly in her room, Hana would happily make all sorts of trinkets for the people that comprised her small world in preparation for the holiday.

However, the idea of a romantic getaway in presumably one of the most idyllic countries in the world was less than enticing. She lacked a lover nor could her family accompany her to Beauxbaton, so what purpose would embarking on this journey serve? Not to mention the amount of stress the trip would bring about. Hana simply saw no purpose in such an excursion. She relayed as much in her letters home, prompting uproar from her eldest brother. Soon letters arriving from home were comprised solely of pathetic begging from the Youngest—imploring her to reconsider her decision. Unfortunately, as idiotic as the Youngest could be, she still held a dear fondness for him; and after the third mention, she reluctantly agreed to go on the trip.

"It'll be good for you, eldest," He reassured after she'd resigned herself to his incessant demands, "It's always fun to meet exchange students! Maybe you could find a little special someone there? Hah! Just kidding. If I find out you're in kahoots with anyone I'm gonna find them and use them in my experiments, kay? You're just my wee-little baby ♡ "

The Bakir daughter laid restless in her bed, quietly tossing and turning amidst her torn bedsheets. Her nights transformed from the horrors she happily welcomed in her sleep, to a silent, dreamless wasteland—the ground unstable as she transversed the desolate planes of her dreams. Every night the girl would blink her eyes open, a wave of tiredness hitting her. And every night, she'd get up and mindlessly rearrange the belongings in her trunk.

This cycle would continue in the nights leading up to the trip.

Now, with a small mechanical rabbit gifted by her father settled in her lap, wide eyes watched as the snow-covered Highlands slowly disappeared from view. Mercifully, the girls occupying the carriage with her were more than happy to included Hana in their chatter; the mindless conversation seemed to slowly soothe her, quieting her nerves for the journey ahead. In the blink of an eye, Hana found herself wishing the pair a good time as they parted ways, heading towards the snowy tundra she would be residing in for the next week.

Her fur-clad hands clenched into a fist, rapping on the door exactly six times before entering. Upon entry, Hana noticed a majority of her cabin mates had arrived and already begun to settle in. "Hello all," her monotonous voice greeted the collective, "It appears we will be residing with one another this coming week." Her trunk landed onto the wood floor as Hana swatted away at the snowfall—even on vacation, she'd never be free of the torturous winter weather.

Wide saucers dragging upward to inspect her cabin mates more closely, Hana found herself recognizing one person: the girl with the dyed hair. Though not quite able to recall her face, it were almost impossible to forget the color of her hair. Meiyu. Swiftly making a beeline for the girl, Hana flitted at the ends of her hair with her hand. "You're hair remains unchanged, that's good. Hello Meiyu, it's nice to see you again," she dryly greeted with a nod before moving back in front of the doorway to retrieve her trunk. After taking a moment to swat away at the snow as well, she turned towards the others once more.

"As a majority of us haven't been acquainted before, I presume, it would do some good to introduce ourselves," she blinked.

The words of her brother’s most recent letter echoed through her mind:"The best way to get people to fall in love with this cute face is to try divulging in the most curious tidbits about yourself! I assure you, dearest sister, nobody likes a lame-o loser."

"My name's Hana, and I've killed approximately 4 living creatures by shooting them through the heart using a bow and arrow. Hopefully, 5 by the end of this journey. Would you like to see?" It were the perfect introduction to keep in theme with Valentine's Day.

More snow.

Gekko would be lying if she said the chance to go to France overshadowed the bright hellscape that greeted her from the carriage. Rightfully so, her mood was a bit dampened despite her initial excitement. She had enough "fun" with snow recently, and of course it all ended up with her being freezing cold. Of course, a majority of it was spent with her best friend Cirrus Nam, and that alone made the snowy escapes a little more enjoyable. The thought of the boy made something of a smile tug at her lips, only for it to be wiped away when the carriage jostled to a harsh stop. It made her head jerk forward and nearly made the small girl crash into the door trying to escape. Horses, cars, brooms, and now even carriages. The young Phillips truly did hate all forms of transportation that wasn't her own two trusty feet, at least her feet hadn't tried to kill her, much.

Gekko gave the driver a dirty glance as she stumbled out of the carriage, her knees hitting the snow and making her cringe. Great, wet knees while she meets her cabin mates for the first time. It made the girl sigh as she stood up and dusted off the excess snow, the tiniest of frowns on her lips. That was another thing she wasn't sure about, sharing a cabin full of people she didn't know. Sure, Gekko was more than happy to make friends and meet new people, that wasn't the issue. The issue, was that she was worried they wouldn't like her specifically. She got a little lucky with her few friends she has currently, very lucky with Cirrus, and extremely lucky with turning her dorm mate Oliver around in becoming somewhat friends. Cirrus practically ran after her like a puppy and Oliver was just a secret softy behind his surly expressions, those two were nothing. And Aodhan, well...he was funny.

But now the girl was losing focus, and she quickly snapped herself out of it with a quick shake of her head, even giving her cheeks little pats to stop the silly thoughts. That combined with the freezing cold air made Gekko's cheeks redden along with her fingertips, but that wasn't important. No, now was the time to put on her big girl pants and be like her momma, who made friends everywhere she went. She was going to go into this cabin and make besties with whoever was in there, even if she had to tie them down and make them read jokes with her to achieve it.

Determination now flooding her system, the raven haired girl stood up straight and marched to the cabin, swinging open the door loudly without an inch of shame on her blank face. The first sight that greeted her was a darkly dressed girl that looked straight out of a Tim Burton's film, and could faintly see the outline of a few other people behind her. Gekko paused slightly as the girl's introduction rang out into the air, causing a snort to leave her lips. Was that a joke? It was a good one, did she mean like killing creatures like butterflies through the heart? That was amazing, actually. She did a little dramatic stomp further into the room and turned first to the gloomy looking girl. "My name is Gekko Phillips, and I haven't killed any living creatures, but I have managed to flick a carrot into five different directions. It's nice to meet you." Her voice was monotone, per usual, but the faint glimmer of amusement shone just barely in her gaze. She clearly didn't take the ending threat seriously, focusing more so on trying to become friends with every person she saw, just plainly refusing to fail her task.
