XXXEonaria woke up in painfully bright sunlight. She immediately squeezed her eyes shut, but it didn't help that much. What? It's too early! Why does it feel like there's a giant Lumos in my room?? With a groan, she squinted her eyes back open and let them adjust. No, they didn't adjust. Sighing, Eonaria rolled out of bed and peeked past the curtain. Her gaze was met with the most blindingly bright expanse of snow she had ever seen, the tiny glittering ice crystals in layers and layers reflecting the sunlight back at her. She gasped, all grogginess instantly vanishing with excitement.
XXXShe ran to her closet and began layering her clothes before throwing on a winter cloak to finish it off. Snow!! It's here!! Eonaria was practically squealing in excitement- mentally, of course. Even though her family woke up early, at the same time as her, they would not appreciate a rendition of a horror movie at 7 in the morning. She rushed down the staircase, dug out her winter boots from the closet, and immediately went outside.
XXXBright white snow blanketed the grass, stretching as far as she could see. The forest in the distance was a similar blob of snow, though the bare trunks were visible. The pond was frozen over and the roof was completely encased. The world was perfect, and Eonaria loved it.
XXXShe pursued her lips and whistled into the freezing wind, which felt like icy pins pricking her cheeks, over and over- but Eonaria didn't mind. It was all part of the experience, after all. The sound rang out and disappeared almost immediately, whisked away into the frosty landscape. Eonaria beamed, dashing into the snow. Her legs sunk down until she couldn't see her knees, but as she jumped out, the powdery snow was easily flung away. She giggled, picking up a handful of powder.
XXXThis kind of snow didn't mold easily, but she yanked off her gloves and used the warmth from her hands to melt the outer layers, compressing the snow into a little ice ball. Eonaria threw it as hard as she could, and quickly lost sight of it. A tiny dent formed in the snow drifts, signalling where it had fallen. She tried to put her gloves back on, but touching the snow had made her fingers too numb to maneuver back in, so Eonaria discarded them on the doorstep to retrieve later. After all, who cared? Not her, that's who.
XXXShe scampered around in the snow, leaping over clumps she had made by sitting in it. Eonaria crafted tiny snowmen with no accessories, lining them up on the nearest patch of snow that remained undisturbed. She laughed her joy and tried to lick the snow, shoving her hands into her hair whenever they grew too cold. At last, she came to a stop, breathing heavily and sitting down. The wind whistled back at her, blowing some of the looser powder into the air. The chilly air caught up to her, and her feet felt numb. Eonaria stared into the hazy distance, the snow in the air clouding her view.
XXXSuddenly, she didn't feel so good anymore. Her adrenaline died out and reality struck her. She was sitting alone in a giant field of snow, the only disturbances made by her. She looked back at her home, the manor sitting tall, imposing, and boring. Eonaria felt very, very small. She dragged herself to her feet and began forging her way back, stumbling occasionally when her feet decided to not work anymore. She retrieved her gloves when she passed them, and she stepped inside. Snow was all over her, spilling gently onto the parlor floor. Regret swelled, and she sat down right there, hoping to limit the mess. Where is everyone?
