| ?????? | Clutching the large board of Wizard's Chess against her chest, Aurelia entered the Hogwarts Library with a purposeful stride, a rare, small smile decorating her face as her wiry curls bounced with her every step. After finishing all of her homework for the week—scrolls of parchments crammed neatly in her leather satchel that she couldn't get it to close—the young badger posted a small notice in the Entrance Hall to invite one person to play Wizard's Chess with her. Her game with Pamela Graham and Mamori Anezaki had been very much enjoyable, which made her feel confident about her skills in chess. No one can spoil her day, as almost immediately, a Slytherin that goes by the name of Alyss Gilmour owled her that day that she is up for a game. Choosing her favourite spot in the Library as a meeting point, beside a large window that overlooked the expanse of the wintry grounds outside the castle, Aurelia settled down almost immediately to set up her chessboard. She had been a little early, as they agreed to meet at 15:00; however, when did she ever go to a place right on time? She's always the early one, and besides, the board has to be set up already once the Slytherin witch came up. If she ever comes up. It's okay if she backed out from the game; of course, she remembered her name and will list her off as №. 1 public enemy. Opening the board with a key, Aurelia started setting up the board, forcing herself to restrain her excitement that threatens to spill from within.  ————————————————— ཐི༏ཋྀ ————————————————— OOC:I apologise as it is a little too short; I don't normally write like this! Chess. Classical and yet severely underrated, it involved a game of the white pieces against the black, with each piece moving in different directions, leading to many different combinations that could be reached. That is what made chess such an interesting game: it was a game of opportunity and adventure. You never knew what your opponent would play, if you would get caught in their trap or they in yours.
The last time Alyss had played chess was on a particularly rainy day, in which she had been left with her grandparents yet again, and they were not going to let her go outside and get soaked for a third time that week. So instead, her grandfather sat her down and taught her chess. It was complicated, and a game of reason and strategy. One in which you must consider your moves and think ahead methodically to win.
Alyss had only ever played chess with her muggle grandparents though, and hadn’t even known that wizards had their own chess until she had seen a notice in the hall, asking for a partner in a game of wizards chess. Before even really considering it, Alyss sent off a reply, requesting to play. Since then, she had been excited to see what magic brought to the table in terms of chess.
Upon entering the library, she spotted another girl who seemed about her own age, with dark curly hair and a chessboard. “Hello! I’m Alyss, I’m going to make the assumption that you’re Aurelia?” Alyss accompanied this with a small smile and began to sit while directing her gaze to the chessboard. The board itself looked the same as the muggle set her grandfather used, but the pieces seemed to be filled with magic. Perhaps it was simply her own excitement, but Alyss swore she saw something magical about those chess pieces.
