Wintery Wonderland
Snow was gently falling from the heavens blanketing the grounds of the FairBairn residence. The icey powder blanket covered the once flourishing garden bed covering the garden walls with a soft blanket. The gentle breeze of the wintery air brushed up a few pieces of the dusty snow from the grounds. The chirp of the morning birds sang their wintery song. The FairBairn residence was calm and quiet; the snow rested against the shambles of the roof; a few pieces of icicles hung lowly like little decorations. The dark red brick walls of the cottage style ranch home looked bright compared to the snow's presence.
Inside the FairBairn residence it was serene and quiet. Normally the holidays were spent with Sloan, Victoria and Aleksandra, but this year Aleksandra asked to bring along a companion, a young first year boy that she ran into one day. Though the boy was a first year he was a bit taller than Aleksandra. Along with the fact that they were slightly similar but different at the same time. Normally Aleksandra would not think about allowing another classmate to visit or even come to her home period but Aleksandra recalled the boy mentioning prior about staying at Hogwarts during the Holiday and that did not seem to settle well with her. Being alone during the holidays seemed like an awful time. Not that she cared for the holidays, she loathed anything cheery and full of joy, but the girl knew her family would welcome the boy with open arms and that was exactly what happened. Sloan was fully shocked that Aleksandra asked to bring home another student and readily accepted her letter giving the girl permission for the younger student to join their family.
Unfortunately for the young first year he would end up getting an earful from Sloan. As the doting father would ask the boy questions and see how his dear daughter was treating the boy. Trying to know and understand the boy more, after all Sloan was pleased to find out that Aleksandra in his eyes had a friend even though that was far from it.
Yagmur Harrow was just a companion for Aleksandra, someone who she could have a conversation with and not feel like she’s talking to a complete idiot. Though their backgrounds are different Aleksandra nerve once showed any dislike to the boy she was more disinterested most days. Not to mention the boy was in Gryffindor while the girl was in Slytherin one would think they would not get along due to the division between those houses.
As the morning was quiet Aleksandra was slowly awakening from her dreamworld. Groggily the young girl gazed softly up at her ceiling, her gray eyes dull and void of emotion staring up at the ceiling of her room that had some vines from plants dangling downwards. The young girl laid in bed, her mind lost in thought. The past couple night’s the girl continued to have dreams about a certain person she wished to have forgotten. The image of that woman's warm brown hair seemed to burn in her brain along with that dreaded look that seemed loving but full of secrets. Sighing deeply Aleksandra raised her right hand upwards at the ceiling her gray eyes seemed sullen and dull as a scowl formed on the girl's fair skin.
Life was tricky. The past always comes back to haunt you when you wish for the past to stay in the past. The past, her past was something she wished to forget to bury deeper inside her heart to hide away.
Hearing a creak of the floorboards Aleksandrar set up grabbing her face scowling deeper. Grumbling under her breath as the young girl listened carefully to the stillness of the house. The frigid breeze outside could be heard whispering to the cottage home while the crackling of the fireplace could be heard with a low hissing sound. The sound of her father’s owl Apollo’s could be heard shuffling his feathers.
Sighing once again Aleksandra threw her feet over her bed clambering out of bed, her platinum blonde hair was a skewed atop of the girl’s head. Slowly the young girl began to prepare for the day. Brushing her hair and getting dressed in a comfortable obsidian black turtleneck and black jeans the young girl made her way to the living room.
Gray eyes meeting the colorful tree filled with presents underneath. The decorations seemed to glitter in the glowing flames of the fireplace. Soft shuffling could be heard behind the girl from the kitchen area.
Looking over her shoulder the young girl locked eyes with her Aunt who in turn smiled fondly towards Aleksandra waving a soft morning. As the older woman began to slowly begin cooking breakfast. Glancing around Aleksandra closed her eyes thinking carefully before making her way towards the guest bedroom where a certain white haired gryffindor child was sleeping.
As Aleksandra approached the closed door she knocked softly but loud enough to hopefully awaken the child. Taking in a deep breath.
“Wake up Breakfast is being cooked and there's presents for ya to open.”
Aleksandra bellowed softly in her Scottish accent waiting quietly to see if she heard any sign of life on the other side of the door.![]()
