Closed talking to the moon, and.. you? PV Violeta

It was late, and she knew it.

The stars were already high overhead, signaling the dark hours that approached. In fact, they were already here. She should have been back inside by now, back where the warmth of the common room called to those mindful enough to heed curfew. But she had wandered out here, somehow losing track of time.

The strange thing was that she didn’t care.

Normally, Iris have been the first to notice such matters, her internal clock ticking as it always did. Yet tonight, the hand had ceased to move at all. Because for the first time in as long as she could remember, she wasn’t thinking about being late or getting in trouble. She wasn’t thinking about anything, really.

The wind had been her biggest rival now, its chill enough to paint glass over her eyes. Even so, it couldn't stop them from drifting toward the pale light above. She'd often looked to it for answers, though like so many nights before, it offered none. The moon didn’t care; it simply watched, silent and possibly a little judgmental. Still, she couldn’t help herself.

“Is this it?” Her question was soft, voice barely above a whisper.

The words felt heavy on her tongue, as if it had been buried inside for far too long. She wasn’t sure if she was asking the moon, the stars, or some part of herself she rarely acknowledged. Maybe it didn’t matter who heard. The night was finite, leaving her voice to feel smaller than ever.

Of course, there was no answer. Only the breeze, practically alive as it pulled at the hem of her robe. Was it possible it was mocking her? A reminder that the world would keep turning, whether she stood still or not. And yet in this moment, she'd felt more alive than she had in weeks. No expectations. No deadlines. Nothing to prove.

Her fingers brushed against the earth beneath her, cool and damp from the night's touch. Maybe it was foolish. Maybe she'd regret it in the morning when the weight of responsibility settled back over her shoulders like an iron cloak. But for now, Iris let herself remain.

“I don’t know what I’m doing.” The confession startled even herself. How long had it been since she voiced that fear aloud?

It was night. It was late. That meant peace and quiet. Something she deserved. Well, maybe not deserve, she really wanted some peace and quiet for once. The whole day. Chatter. One thing she hated about Hogwarts was the fact that it was never silent. Except at night.

Obviously she didn't want to get in any trouble. Not now, not ever, and she typically wasn't the kind of girl to get in trouble. But sometimes, she liked to go outside, she had a spot there, where she sat sometimes at night, where she journaled, planned her inventions, or just sat there quietly. She had a way of going outside and in again, no one even noticing she had been missing.

She wasn't noticed much, until the start of her second year, that's when people started noticing her, looking at her. It was weird at first, but she did like the attention. Kind of. Some parts were good and some bad.

When she was younger, no one payed much attention to her, mostly to her siblings. Obviously. Her oldest sister was like a princess, her twin sisters were another sort of princess and fairy, and her brother was a charming little prince. She was just a witch. They were also witches and a wizard of course, but they seemed like other things. She was just a typical little witch, who knew how to make things her way.

As she quietly walked to her spot, in a place where most people didn't think she'd be, the grounds, she noticed someone else had taken her spot. She was mad, but she disguised her anger and walked closer and closer. And closer.

She heard the girl speak, must've been around her age, she couldn't see her face, it was too dark. "If you don't know, maybe you shouldn't be here." she said, not expecting an answer. "You're in my spot." she spoke, again.

If not for the sound of another's voice, maybe Iris' would have stayed out there forever. Her head turned, dark eyes sizing up the figure in front of her.

“Well.” Iris began, not sure what business this girl had either. A prefect? The word lumped in her throat, a horrifying, though perhaps deserved one. She couldn't afford to be getting into trouble, not with her reputation on the line. Speaking terms or not, her mother would easily find out of a stain on her record.

The longer she thought about it, the more the likelihood didn't add up. No, a prefect wouldn't sound so.. casual. So unbothered. Much less caring about a 'spot'. No way she was serious, given every single other patch of grass appeared nearly identical to the one she sat on.

An acknowledgment wasn't offered to her first statement, at least not immediately. Of course she knew, even a witless bloke could tell you when the clock struck eight. She allowed the girl's words linger for a moment, finding herself for the first time without anything to say. "Hadn't realized you needed to make a reservation." There it was, the sharp flick of her tongue. Hardly a jab, half amused at best. She stood up slowly, turning to face her partner rule breaker.

"Does that mean you should be?" If the Slytherin really did possess authority, this would be the marking of her grave. Yet as it stood, the only thing with power out here appeared to be the wind that pushed against her fringe. "What's your name? You know, so I can remember who's spot it is next time."

She could feel the person, most likely a girl, from their voice, turn their head and look at her. She stared at them, her ocean blue eyes not so bright in the moonlight. She did love the moonlight, she preferred the night from the day.

It was a girl. She could tell from her hair once she slowly stood up. How is was she? A third year? She seemed tall, like a thirteen year old, but maybe she was a second year. Most likely. Maybe Violeta knew her or had seen her around the castle. If she really was a second year, they most likely had a class or two in common.

She liked her. Feisty. Just like Violeta. “Feisty, huh?” she said, it wasn’t a question. “Nah, I shouldn’t be here. But here I am. You know what? I kind of like you, and my name is right behind you.” the girl would probably be confused, but right behind where she was, was a tree where Violeta had carved out the words ‘V. Roux’, or Violeta Roux, her name. “The ‘V’ is for Violeta, though most people can’t pronounce Violeta the correct way just call me Vi.” said the girl.
