@Violeta RouxOf course he wasn't here.
Her mother would assure her it was only a matter of duty. Victor after all did tend to wrap himself tightly in his work, perhaps forgotten the day altogether. The image of him slouched grouchily in his study, he'd began to evolve into their father with each day's passing. Fortunately the picture of Violet and Henry's beaming faces as Ames flashed her final smile was just enough to soothe whatever nerves fogged her mind.
"You will visit, right?" The voice of her youngest sister spoke out softly, a flash of bittersweetness in her eyes that Amelie so easily detected. The trip to Hogwarts was to be grand indeed, but the idea of no longer hearing their laughs was enough to leave her heart feeling weary at best. "That's if she doesn't get taken by a ghost before then." The jestful remark from Henry coerced yet another smile, their playful banter fading out softly after hugging her parents a final time.
The sight of the express was one she was no stranger to, after years of watching Victor board it only felt natural navigating her way through the waning corridors. There was hope to be found, laughter radiating from compartments that appeared to be filled with buzzing faces. She could be sure that he'd advise seeking out a quiet place, keeping to herself as he did. The eldest was always reserved, preferring the company of his books to people, and it was as if she could already hear his voice in her head: “Be careful who you trust, Ames.”
A cynic, really. But Amelie wasn’t Victor, nor was she not content to watch the world pass by from the shadows. She wanted to experience, and those efforts surely weren't ones to be wasted. The concept of engaging in conversation was hardly foreign, though much less a skill. It seemed personality just poured from Amelie, similar to a faucet that had been turned on and thus forgotten.
The only question that remained now was who would encounter that faucet. With compartments filling by the minute, the luxury of selection grew less the more she stood contemplating. Jumping into a car full of strangers couldn't be too difficult, though a face particularly stood out to her across the glass.
With a gentle breath, Amelie slid the door open. “Violeta?” Her voice came out lighter than intended, laced with a mixture of surprise and hope. She hesitated for a moment, then straightened herself with a smile. Manners still mattered. "Could I join you?"
