This was honestly what Aurélie had been waiting for the entirety of summer camp. The chance where she'd finally get to duel. She entered the area with all the energy and excitement of a first time duellist. As far as she'd been told, her team wasn't just made up of other Beauxbatons students. Her team consisted of Phelan, a soon to be second year, just like her, Nikolai, a Durmstrang student that she'd never met before, and, of course, herself.

She didn't know either of her teammates well, but hopefully, they shared her love of winning and competition. This was her first duel, and Aurélie hoped that it would be one to remember. She loved quick thinking and spellcasting, and she'd done pretty well in practise, for a first-timer. Maybe that, with the help of her teammates, would be enough to secure them a win.

perfectionist Reducio Critical failure range is reduced by 1. When you cast a spell, you take your time doing so. You enunciate your words with care and you do not recklessly swish your wand about. Your spells don't backfire, they don't fail. You're too much of a Perfectionist to let that happen.

Phelan stepped into the dueling area, the almost ever-present frown on his face deeper than usual. He could not believe his father was making him do this.

The boy surveyed his team mates. Another girl from his school, who he vaguely recognized, and a boy from Durmstrang he had never met.

He glanced up at the audience in the stands. Without much effort, he located Matilde’s head of strawberry hair in the crowd. She grinned at him, giving him a thumbs up. He attempted to smile at her, then turned back to the task that was about to start. Let’s get this over with.

Zyair would not say he was getting cocky- but he was feeling rather confident this day. He had practiced instinctive dueling with Ariam, and now his friend was one of the partners he would be casting spells with. Hm, shouldn't it be that because they were once on opposite ends of the match, they'd do better? He hoped. A win would be nice, especially after the chaos that was only a few nights ago with Scout. Luckily for the past few days he had been able to sleep pretty well, dueling with a headache from a lack of sleep must be miserable.

He'll be on his a-game today.

Nikolai Volka | Durmstrang Third Year Duellist

Summer camp had truly proven to be as much of a handful as the rumours foretold but every second had been nothing short of beautiful to Nikolai. The boy had lost so much last year but now here he stood wand in hand preparing to duel his first professional match and he felt entirely whole. The world was now bursting with colour and laced with joy and hope.

Glancing up into the stands he caught the many eyes of his true family staring down on him. The support they had fulfilled him with was nothing short of a miracle and he felt their pride as equally as his own. Whatever happened today Nikolai was the happiest he had been in his entire life and so with a hand held on his chest where a snowdrop was pinned by a draconic broach he gave a small nod to his family and steeled the icy glare he possessed towards his targets.

Durmstrang was known for its lethality and he had no qualms with living up to the imagery. Wand readied he turned to his teammates and flaring the devilish sparkle in his eyes he smirked and said "Lets give them hell!"

It was time for another duel, only a few days ago they were duelling Zyair but now they are on the same team, working together for victory. Along with their friend there was also another Uagadou student on the team. Ariam said "Greetings, I hope both of you had enough rest last night." to their team. They were feeling, well surprisingly mundane? The excitement that comes with duelling was definitely there but there was no nervousness or strong sense of confidence. Just determination to win. "Victory will be ours!"

The time that Reuben had been looking forward to most this summer had finally come - the interschool duel. After last year's tie, he was determined to win this time. He had practiced at Uagadou with utmost dedication, and he hoped this practice paid off. Reuben looked at his team members. He did not know either of the two other people, eventhough he was pretty sure he had seen one at Uagadou, but that did not mean he could not become friends with these two. He started off by introducing himself. "Hi! I'm Reuben from Uagadou!"

In the typical fashion of duels, the event was off to an invigorating start. Many things went right for the Beauxbatons & Durmstrang team as all three of their duellists hit their mark. Phelan took aim at Ariam with an old fashioned Tickling Charm that nailed them in the belly. After the dull ache from the blast subsided, Ariam felt it travel upwards to their ribcage and the characteristic tickling feeling made its appearance, causing the wix to double over in laughter. The effects of this spell came after Ariam’s own cast. It was a marvelous Knockback Jinx and Pyxis squinted through his sunglasses as even he felt the force Ariam produced. Unfortunately, they missed their target entirely and the spell went rogue, hurtling towards their teammate instead. Thankfully, Reuben was able to step out of the way in time, preventing a team hit.

Nikolai picked the same spell and target as Ariam it seemed, as Reuben avoided one Knockback Jinx only for another to hit him in the shoulder. To add to Reubeun’s no good, very bad day, the Uagadou student botched his own spell. The green sparks meant for Nikolai flashed brightly before it ever left Reuben’s wand, blinding him briefly. Pyxis winced, knowing how difficult it would be to nail his next target.

The last member of the Beauxbatons & Durmstrang team cast a spell that Pyxis didn’t have much experience with yet. Her aim was almost off, but she managed to just clip Zyair on his side. For a moment, the wizard would not feel a thing. Then, the faintest gurgle could be heard from his throat. Seconds later, Zyair found himself doubled over like Ariam, but instead of laughter, a slug escaped his mouth. Pyxis watched him continue to hack up slime with wide eyes. This was beginning to be too hardcore for the Slytherin. At least Zyair was able to be the sole damage dealer of his team before becoming one with the slugs. He sent a fiery spell Phelan’s way which caught the Irish-French wizard on his sleeve and didn’t go out. He’d have to contend with the intensified flames for a little while longer.

Aurélie had never really understood just how gross the Slug-Vomiting Charm could be until she practiced it on an actual human being. She didn't know the Uagadou student that she'd aimed, but she felt bad for the poor fellow as slugs and their slime came out of his mouth. True to its name, she thought, then felt bad for himself some more.

But this was a duel, it wasn't for the weak. Maybe she'd go and apologise to him later, hoping there were no hard feelings. But for now, she was proud of her team, which had landed all of their spells right on target.

"Great job!" She called to Phelan and Nikolai, then got back into her ready stance.
