The summer camp duels had a different energy. It had to do with the unfamiliarity, probably; these weren't the normal stages, these weren't the duellists she was normally around. They were outside, throwing the weather into the mix. Bridget was excited to see what the international students had to offer, duelling was of course one of the things she was most interested in and different places had different ways of duelling. What did they have to offer today?
She had a slip of paper with their names, since she couldn't pin them to faces like when she moderated duels at Hogwarts. Taking center of what would be their duelling stage, she magically amplified her voice for the crowd gathered. "Please welcome Akira Shimizu, Manuela Macedo, Enzo Delcroix, and Tina Parker to the stage!" Each duellists was from a different school, which would make this interesting, especially in the realm of teamwork. They hadn't had as much time to learn each other's duelling styles as they were used to. "Akira and Manuela will be facing Enzo and Tina."
Dropping the amplification spell, she turned to the four duellists. "Standard rules: no physical attacks, you can't target anyone petrified, mind the time limit. Ready?" If there were no questions, she'd allow them a minute to prepare while she took her place just outside of the duel's bounds. Then, with just a second for dramatic effect--she'd learned that from Galton--she called, "Begin!"

Summer Duels: Match 4
Another summer, another challenge. He smoothed his newly golden robes as he ascended the piste, bowing politely to his partner and then each of his opponents. During each of the past two summers, he had been matched with multiple upperclassmen as the youngest duelist. While it had irritated him last year, he found that he didn't quite mind this year. He saw it as a testament to his talent; only those who were more senior could be considered his peers on the piste.
Akira nodded at the moderator's instructions to show that he understood and would adhere to them, as he had done hundreds of times before. His dark eyes regarded his opponents carefully. Enzo Delcroix's mop of blonde hair, though likely fashionable, simply made him look unkempt to our boy who always tried to keep his appearance immaculate. Tina Parker's blue eyes had a streak of rebelliousness within them. They seemed like a pair who would be unpredictable.
He turned to Manuela Macedo before getting into position. "Let's do our best," he said briefly and encouragingly, knowing full well that he would fight to the best of his ability. He was not familiar with his partner at all, but he was determined to collaborate for the win. He had a feeling she had also done this many times before.

Hher third camp. Her third duel. What was that phrase again? Ah, yes: à terceira é de vez, a rough translation of "the third time is the last time", similar to that English phrase she'd heard every now and again. Third time's the charm. Or, in this case, the third time would be the hex with which Manu would crush her duelling opponents.
It was fewer than it had been in the past: just her and one younger boy against a pair the Castelobruxo girl didn't recognise. Two on two, more like what she was used to. Manu pulled her wand and approached the duelling piste, stepping up; her partner was already there, offering her encouragement. In return, Manu only gave him a tight-lipped smile before saying, "We will do our best."
She turned back to the task at hand.
"And that best is to win."

Usually the start of a duel meant the quick snap of everyone into action, but one of the teams seemed to be-- taking a defensive approach? Maybe they'd realized their opponents were whipping up a storm of split spells and it would be better to wait it out. Maybe their reactions were just a little delayed. Whatever was going on, it would be Akira and Manuela providing the show in those initial moments.
Manuela had a neatly spread Impediment Jinx, a slowing spell that would create serious problems for Enzo and Tina, but neither fork found their marks. At the very least, she contributed to the sheer difficulty that was dodging three spells coming your way. It was Akira's spell that was truly impressive, his already spread Ventus seeing an extra branching into four total gusts of wind. Only half of them hit, but that was still enough to leave both opponents trapped in an off-balancing vortex that would make their next moves more difficult.

Manu's spell tore from the edge of her wandtip like a bat out of hell, a turquoise light arcing towards her opponents, splitting in two in midair... only to miss the both of them, despite the fact that they just stood there and did not even dare to cast anything in return. Manu snarled in frustration, but it was still tinged with pride - at least she'd managed to split the spell, even if her accuracy had been... less than ideal.
"Let's go, participate," the Brazilian snapped at the two who opposed her. In her mind, she was thinking, It's no fun if I just beat them because they do nothing. She glanced at her duelling partner. At least I have a competent spellcaster by my side this time. I suppose it could be much worse...

Summer Duels: Match 4
He watched in satisfaction as his spell split not into two, but four. It was unfortunate that not all four of his split spells had landed. That was the only sour point to an otherwise successful round for him.
Were their opponents distracted, or scared out of their minds by what he and Ms. Macedo could do?
He watched in amusement as his partner snapped at the other team, as if reading his mind. Perhaps her...encouragement would get them back into the zone.
He didn't quite mind ending the duel with his robes still crisp and clean, but he didn't come to Hogwarts just to devastate upperclassmen without a sense of true accomplishment.

Enzo shook himself back into focus angrily. He had already let himself get hit by a spell. He was already rather annoyed that he was partnered with someone he did not know, who mind you was not even from his school, which had distracted him and now he was left with the repercussions. Enzo took a deep breath to try and quiet his mind before the next inevitable spells came flying his way.

Despite the off start, Enzo was quick to make up for what had been lost; between the starting Ventus and the Cracker Jinx that would hit him moments later, he found it necessary to shower himself in a fairly powerful Healing Spell. It was a reasonable move considering his partner still made no move, no show of wand work.
The other team was presenting an effective offense, although Akira's success in the duel's opening moments would be tempered by this performance; he couldn't quite string two spell spreads back to back, his wand providing only a small, disappointing puff of wind. Where he struggled, Manuela summoned the concentration and willpower perfectly, filling the air with crackers. She successfully hit both opponents, and though one caught a little too close to her face, it was still a net positive.

Summer Duels: Match 4
Perhaps the split spell spread had tired him more than he thought it would. He grit his teeth in frustration and narrowed his eyes at the sight of his failed spell spread.
The fire crackers igniting from Ms. Macedo’s wand came a little too close, as they tended to do. “I hope you’re alright,” he said politely, in order to check on his teammate. He quite admired her gutsy choice of spell.
