Money had been tight these past few months. What little she had earned throughout her time at hogwarts was now being spent wisely. She had never been much of a cheapskate, or a tight-arse when it came to money but rather sensible in how she spent it— ignoring the part where she often splashed an unnecessarily large amount on clothes. Her father, however, was a tight-arse, and gave her knuts— sickles at a push, and that was on those rare occasions he was feeling generous.
It never stopped her visiting a variety of clothing shops, like today. Today she revisited Madam Malkin, a shop she often came to alone during her time at hogwarts. She adored viewing all the new pieces and playing around with different materials.
Her fingers brushed lightly over the selection that hung on hangers, and at times pulling at a few to get a better look. She had always been a sucker for wearing black, no matter the occasion, no matter the season. Black. Always black.
Pulling out a leather jacket much similar to the one she was already wearing, minus being shorter in length, Falentra’s ears perked up. Her eyes soon followed over her shoulder and to the direction of a young Scottish girl who was seemingly standing her ground about something relating to money. She couldn’t quite hear, but she took note of the pile of money on the counter.
For the time being, Falentra returned her gaze to the piece in her hand, admiring with a faint smile. Her ears at the same time were now listening intently on the discussing that was slowly starting to heat from the change in tone.
The shop keeper seemed adamant, and was being quite stern with the girl. With a kid. Falentra was never one for being polite herself, but she didn’t like what she was hearing and if it meant her being able to be a bit of a arse with someone, that was just a bonus. For a moment, her eyes closed and a small huff would leave her lips before she tossed the hanger back onto the rail and turned on her heels into the direction of the young girl.
“Oi.” She interrupted, or more specifically, the shop owner. It only took Falentra a few strides with her long legs to arrive beside the student. Her eyes focused on the pile of money before they lowered to the girl.
She was… small. Or maybe it was Falentra that was just overly tall for a girl. The chunky boots didn’t help neither.
The silence would brew for a few seconds longer before Falentra’s sucked the air through her teeth and tutted. Her eyes that naturally bored into whoever looked now had a glimpse of darkness and anger. They were peering right into the shop keepers.
“Right. Not only are you bullying a student here who, from what I’ve seen over my visits here, is a student who’s offered you more money that most can afford, but you are also ruining my time.” The shop owners mouth opened as if to respond but Falentra raised a boney finger and placed it in from of their mouth. “I’m not finished.”
She inhaled sharped then let out a long sigh. “I’m just.. I’m really upset and offended by how you’ve treated this.. poor.. poor girl.” Falentra shook her head. Of course, this was all an act, but you had to play the part to get what you want, right? “I’m just going to have to tell my father to get in touch with a close friend- who bare in mind is a well known publisher for the daily prophet.” Another lie. But who were they to know. “I can just see it now. Madam Malkin in bold writing. Bullies children.” She paused and raised one hand out in the air, waving it slightly whilst the other rested on the young girls shoulder. “Madman Misrable Malkin—”
Another pause followed, long enough to let it sink in. “—I mean. Unless you let the girl off a few galleons? We can let this slide.”
