Applying for Quidditch co-captain after Cecily graduated had been an impulse decision; she certainly hadn't thought she'd actually get the position, let alone that the first match she'd be commentating on wouldn't even be one between Hogwarts students. Despite the summer sun that was very clearly visible up in the sky, the weather charms in place for summer camp ensured that a gentle, disconcerting snowfall was slowly covering the pitch in a shimmering blanket of malicious evil. Today one of the most important Quidditch questions of all time would finally be answered: was it possible to effectively commentate on a match from underneath five blankets?

She'd gone to quite a few Quidditch matches here with her dad growing up, but there was something exciting about being a part of the game this time, even if it was just from an administrative level. This was a professional stadium and it put the Hogwarts stadium to shame (though she'd never say that to its face.) "Welcome everyone to the Summer 2024 match between, uh-" A perplexed look would come over her face as she read out the lineup. "Uagadou and Koldovstoretz and Mahoutokoro. Wow, did I say any of those right?" She did not. Their players would make their way onto the pitch all the same, to a backdrop of cheers and raucous applause. "All of them versus Beauxbatons. All by themselves, which sounds rather lonely." Beauxbatons, too, would make their way onto pitch. Scrutinizing the the teams, she realized that neither of them appeared to have any reserve players, which was absolutely wild but also one hundred percent not her problem. Throwing up her hands, she signaled the start of the game before yelling out to the players, "May the odds be ever in your favor!"

You must include in your first post (and preferably all posts) any active abilities, your character's stats (without broom, you can also include the stats with broom but they must be clearly separated), and your character's chosen broom and its effects.

Chiaki felt out of place as she stepped onto the pitch with her new 'team'. She'd been on the fence about joining quidditch, but decided to do so for her friends, for her school. Now, she wasn't even playing with them, she'd been moved to a team with nobody she knew. And, even worse for her, she was going to be forced to play in a position that meant she had knock people off of their brooms. This was sounding more and more like a nightmare.

Nervously, she surveyed the other team, her eyes landing on River Fayre. When she was in her first and second year at Mahou, she and River used to keep in touch through owls, but over time, they had drifted apart. It had been a long time since she had last seen her, and this wasn't exactly how she'd imagined it. But nonetheless, she knew that she had to keep her wits about her. Even if she didn't know her team that well, or even care that much about the sport, she was still going to do her best for her team. With that, she mounted her broom and mentally prepared herself for the game to come.

- In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

Yasha rubbed the back of his short, black hair and then moved his hand to the front to shove his long bangs back from his forehead, only to smooth them back down over his unseeing right eye as always. As he stepped out onto the snowy field, he was more than a little irritated about this match because, although Koldovstoretz was pretty much always paired with another school to fill out each of their rosters, some of Koldovs members had abandoned them for other sports or had left entirely, making their already small team even smaller. At least Sokolov was still faithful.

Otherwise, Yasha didn't mind the thrown-together team. It reminded him of playing with his cousins at the Dacha, who created their own swirling teams according to their whims and who generally fought to play either with the oldest Volkov or against him. Yasha chuckled a little at the memory and ran his hand once more over his bangs, smoothing them down over the cloudy, useless eye, with less of a temper before looking up into the crowd.

While he was looking for one specific pile of brown hair (Kaya Rose), who, Yasha had figured out over the summer, could be easily spotted most of the time with a certain pile of white hair (EmmaLee), he couldn't deny that he was hoping that more of Cygnus tent had come to watch him. He had certainly gone to see their matches. While he couldn't quite see them in the large stadium, he was sure that at least Kaya Rose and EmmaLee were there, mmmmm, somewhere.

Well, aside from the Zophyr personage, who had been placed on his team, and therefore would not be in the stands, hopefully. Yasha gave a two-fingered salute to his tentmate and teammate with a wide smile.

Once he had thoroughly scoped the stands, Yasha mounted his broom and turned to his teammates as a whole. "Tovarishes comrades/partners, don't worry, we will crush these second-rate ballerinas. Three schools have got to be better than one, yeah?" He said with a small chuckle and a mischievous smile.

A critical success on an attempt to block a goal not only means that the Keeper caught the quaffle but they have also successfully passed the quaffle (without a chance of interception) to an allied target of their choice.
A critical failure in this case cannot happen for a Keeper, they get to re-roll the attempt to block.

Rosella was nervous about this quidditch game for a variety of reasons, the major one being that their team consisted of only one other Koldovstoretz student. It made her nervous not knowing anything about any of the other players on the team or how they played. Did they like to cheat or play by the rules, were they aiming to win or just playing for fun? She was not sure.

Slowly, the Russian girl made her way over to the only other Koldovstoretz student. "Good luck, Yasha," she spoke as clearly as possible, her broom gripped tightly in her left hand. Maybe this game wasn't going to be too bad, although she could not be certain. Quickly the girl got onto her broom, and lifted off into the air slightly. "Good luck everyone." Rosella called out to the rest of the team.

	----- An athletic youth ran onto the playing field, drawing several eyes as he beamed his bright smile at people he'd met the year prior. He thrust his fist into the air as he took off on his broom, and began to feel the wind between his tight curls. Mkhaku enjoyed the cheers of some of the spectators, playing to the crowd with some amount of likeable charisma. He skipped the pre-kickoff huddle, confident in his own abilities and instincts and instead choosing to come face to face with their opponents. “Hey colonizers! No surrendering this time, nyeh?” He goaded the French, playfully.

Kit smiled as she glanced out among the pitch, reaching a hand out to watch the snow disappear on her hand. It was still warm though, a strange mix of sensations- both in weather and in her heart. It would be the first year that the Beauxbatons would be grouped with all other Beauxbatons students, able to finally have their own small team compete against others. They would have to give up any second strings to help fill out other teams, but it was an accomplishment to finally have a whole group of familiar faces. Not that the other team wasn't familiar as well, remembering them from past summers and events. How much they had changed since last year though, that would soon be seen.

With a grin, Kit launched herself up and into the skies on her broom, offering a nod to anyone who glanced in her direction and a wave to those on her team. This would be a fun challenge, having no other people to rely on once the first line fell. That had only been half true the year before. "Noo," she laughed though, "you'll have to knock us out of the air first." Kit was sure they'd be more than willing to fulfill her request, but that was all part of the fun, no? Dodging high speed bludgers while trying to move a ball around the pitch on a broom- how else would someone spend their Sunday mornings?

It had been quite the summer camp so far—but this was the moment Quentin had been waiting for (well apart from the moment when he found a certain redhead, but that wasn't sports-related). Last year, his team had taken home the summer prize, but Beauxbatons hadn't brought enough players for a full team. And it wasn't his best personal showing. His skills on his team while in France had been growing, and now on this international stage, he wanted to show them off. Quidditch wasn't wrestling or martial arts, but he was beginning to appreciate the magical world of sports and how his physical prowess could give him an advantage.

Before getting on his broom, he did some quick arm stretches—making sure his arms were bludger ready. To his team, he plastered on a large goofy smile and yelled, "We've got this! Don't forget our practice." And to the opposing team, "Don't go easy on us, and we'll return the favor!"

The excitement of playing quidditch again in England was enough to help Izzi forget all about the things she disliked about the place. She still found (most) of its inhabitants to be insufferable, the weather intolerable and the whole place uninhabitable. Why the planning committee had chosen to make the already inhumane weather of Britain even worse by dumping snow all over the place was beyond comprehension!

Nevertheless, regardless of the conditions, she would give someone's right arm to play in such a stadium! Izzi smiled faintly as her gaze passed over the French team. It certainly wouldn't be her own right arm that she's be giving!

It was a lovely morning for a Quidditch Game, the sun shining bright, yet the enchanted snow lightly falling from the sky, the whole staple of the Summer Camp theme. Élodie smiled as she arrived at the pitch, offering waves and greetings in French to her team, her broom in hand. Was she excited? Absolutely. Was she a tad bit nervous? Also yes.

She shook away her nerves as she mounted her broom watching the other team, composed of three different schools. She glanced at each of their players before the game started, before kicking off the ground as the game was set to begin, ready to lock her blue-grey eyes on the small and speedy golden ball she had to catch.
