Quentin Gagné
Name: Quentin Gagné
School: Beauxbatons
Year: Fourth
Status: Half-Blood
Appearance: Quentin has scruffled, short brown hair and sharp blue eyes. He usually has some sort of dopey grin on his face and an air of unearned confidence. He's tall and brawny.

Personality: Quentin can be a bit of an airhead—he's not the brightest wand in the bunch. But he makes up for that in heart and enthusiasm. He's a thrill-seeker, but he would never hurt a fly. When he becomes friends with someone, their happiness is of the utmost importance.
History: Quentin only knows his father. His father, Eloi, is from Louisiana, and he speaks French with a Cajun drawl, often hard to understand by French people in France. Quentin's mother, Caroline, was visiting the United States, when she met Eloi, and against all odds, they fell in love. Eloi was a muggle from the bayou, and the European wizarding world that Caroline came from intrigued him. They moved to Paris to be closer to Caroline's parents, since Eloi's parents had long been gone. Caroline died in childbirth. Then it was just Quentin and his eccentric father, and Caroline's demanding parents, in a small suburb of Saint Cloud outside of Paris. His father was firmly in the muggle world, where he was an outsider. He enrolled Quentin in a muggle school much to his mother-in-law's chagrin. His grandparents were able to educate him on the workings of the wizarding world after school.
Quentin spent most of his childhood shrugging off bullies, who made fun of his strange father. Sometimes it seemed that he didn't understand people were making fun of him, other times he was able to laugh it off and defuse the situation.
Quentin's first instance of magic: Caroline's mother, Grand-Maman Audrey, often took Quentin to Paris. She is a big socialite in the Parisian wizarding community. In addition to his education on the ins and outs of the wizarding world, she wanted to educate him on the arts and culture of the city. Usually, her teachings didn't stick—Quentin loved American pro wrestling, Quidditch, and alligators, and those were all he wanted to talk about. As they were walking along the Seine, Audrey was trying to explain the paintings they had just viewed at the Louvre. As she was talking about the symbolism of rivers, Quentin started ecstatically talking about catfish. Eloi had loved catfishing and he wanted to take Quentin to the states, against Audrey's stern wishes, to go on a father-son fishing trip. Quentin asked if there were any catfish in the Seine. "Of course not!" But as soon as Audrey said, a large catfish plopped out of the Seine onto the bank in front of them. Well, at least he does have some magical talent, she couldn't help thinking.
