[quote]She didn't even say anything to her teammates. When the race was finished, another loss for the only team in all of Hogwarts to never win a game, June just left. She couldn't even muster an acknowledgement to her teammates.
And so she walked.
Past the benches, past the amphitheatre, past her old reading tree from first year. Actually, no, not past that. June lingered there for a moment, her hand resting on the rough bark. It felt so long ago that June had opened her first book of broom racing matches here, the day she signed up for the team. The race proper was ages away, but she was convinced that enough strategy and research would be the key to a victory for the serpentine racers. That was two years ago, now.
Two. Years.
Two years of losses, one year under her own captaincy. None of it mattered, not a single bit.
For a moment, June let go. She didn't even realize it, but The Box couldn't fit anything else in it today, and emotions had to be released. And so June absentmindedly punched her reading tree. Hard.
"Raaaah!" Thump. "ow..."
June shook out her hand her knuckles began to bleed, the tree remaining as in tact as whatever curse had been put on the Brisk Basilisks. What a wonderful time for a liar to enter the scene.

@June Selwyn
Tommy messed up, and he knew it. The broom racing match ended in a failure. The events of the match and in the stands during the match were not what Tommy had wanted. However, this was NOT about him anymore. Tommy understood the risk he took in lying to an upper year, but he did not know at the time that Slytherin had NEVER won a broom race or he NEVER would have made such an idiotic prediction. Too late now, no changing the past, but he could change the future to one where June wouldn't hate.... hopefully.
Tommy would not run from his problems. After the match, he searched all over for June. He found her by the Great Lake. He had been in such a rush to find her he didn't know what to say. When he saw her and how angry she was, he knew lying had gotten him into this mess and he would not even think to use it to get out of the mess. Was her hand bleeding?
At the sight of her, how crushed she was, Tommy felt tears come to his eyes. Frustration, sadness, disappointment, a tidal was of emotions. If he felt this way, he could never understand how much worse June felt. Tommy had maybe his first good idea since joining Hogwarts.
Tommy called out to June, "Look June, I know you're mad. I know you don't want to listen to me. Take ALL your frustration out on me. Pull my hair, break my arm, whatever you need to do, I can take it. You name it and I'll be your certified punching bag until you're no longer mad. When you've calmed down and are willing to talk to me, I'll offer you a better apology and explanation."
Was the girl even listening to him? "Want to fling me into the lake? Would that help?" Not waiting for a reply, Tommy moved to where June would have a crystal clear view of him before he began to sprint as fast as he could towards the lake. He didn't bother taking off any of his clothing or emptying his pockets, he wanted to show how truly sorry he was. His heart was racing. It felt like his chest would explode. Tommy tried with all his mental might to focus on running. A blast could come from behind at any moment, but if he tensed up, June could think this was all an act. Tommy had to show whole heartedly he was sorry for the result of the match. Even if it meant being flung into the lake. If she was still angry after he would do it again or any other task the girl thought of. After she calmed down, he promised himself, swearing on his prized stuffed animals, that he would try to have an HONEST heart-to-heart with June. All he could do for now was put one foot in front of the other as fast as he could. The edge of the Great Lake never felt so far away.
