WINTER GAMES 2024: GAME 1

Today was a big day, it was the day that the first winter games began! The first game would be one of my personal favorites: capture the flag. Teams would be separated into four different starting sections of the grounds. I had a section closed off for us, it couldn't really stop anyone, but it would tell them that the games were going on in here, so hopefully people would just stay out. Each team would be given on flag, to place anywhere they wanted in their own section, not hidden away, but somewhere not too obvious, for the other teams to find. When the game started, teams could then enter any area of the little arena in search for a flag, belonging to any team. If someone from one team managed to find a flag and run it back to their section of the arena, back to their own team, that team would win, as soon as that person with a flag from any opposing team crossed the line. Things aren't as easy as a little game of hide and seek though, as soon as you step foot into another team's section, anyone from that team could hit you with a snowball! With all the snow on the ground there would be an unlimited supply of snowballs to be thrown at enemies trying to capture your flag! One thing though, there would be no puppy-guarding, let the games be fun for everyone please.
I gathered all of the team members participating in the games, and gave each team captain a bright flag. The "Icebreakers" got a green flag, the "Peppermint Twists" got a yellow one, the "Frosty Flakes" an orange one, and finally, the "Snowy Girls" received a red flag. "Okay everyone, now that you all have your flags, go to your section and you may place your flag... now!" I shouted.

Marcie was very excited! She added a skip to her step as she made it out of the school. She imagind all the fun she would have! She made it over to the are and listened carfully. She loved capture the flag, she loved the feeling of suspense in a snowball fight and the way anything can happen in a game of capture the flag! She was super excited to work with her teamates. She looked around at the group of people she had met some of the other players, but some of them she had never seen before. This would be an oppurtunity for her to meet new people, wich wasn't her favorite thing to do... She also really liked there team name, pepermint twists! "so... um" she said, piking up there yellow flag. She held it in her hands wondering where they should put this flag. "uh, where d'you guys want to hide it?" She asked.
She didn't know much of the area but maybe somone else on her team would know a place to hide it?She looked around the snowy lawns, trying to divise a plan. "w-we should think of a plan before we start... does anyone have any ideas?" She wasn't the best at coming up with plans, others would like to face obstacles when they came to it, Marcie on the other hand, liked to think up every posible way somthing could go wrong, wich greatly botherd her. She would try her best this time and hopefully have some fun!

cold and bold • threadWinter was definitely not one of Ophelia's favorite seasons. It was cold, with wet, crunchy snow that always got in one's boots, no matter how hard they tried to stop it, and an unshakeable, bone-deep cold that one could always count on to ruin one's mood. The only good part of winter, in Ophelia's opinion, was the holiday spirit it brought forth and the wondrous hot chocolate that was consumed in large amounts.
To increase her enjoyment of the winter season, Ophelia had signed herself up for the Winter Games. Not something she'd normally participate in, but it was the holiday season and that meant it was her time to try something new.
Ophelia made her way to the grounds with as much enthusiasm as she could muster. She wasn't fond of the cold that had already started creeping into her skin, though she wore a jacket. Once she was there, she found her teammates, Ravenclaws Renelle and Marcie as well as Gryffindor James, and walked up to them.
"Where do you guys want to hide it?" Marcie asked. She seemed unsure and Ophelia guessed that she was uncomfortable to be the first one speaking. "W-we should think of a plan before we start... does anyone have any ideas?"
Having played the game of tag more than capture the flag while growing up, Ophelia didn't have much idea on strategy. "Um, we need to keep the flag hidden, right?" She racked her brain for something else to say. "And I think we need people both in the action, and guarding. If that makes sense."
Maybe Ophelia hadn't been much of a capture the flag player, but she was a decision maker, though she wasn't good at being decisive. She looked to their team captain, Renelle, to comment on her approach idea.
