They still had... two days of class. Which honestly, Dori thought they should get a longer break but whatever. This time Dori was headed to class early, one that they shared together so that the gift could be set up in advance. They really had to make up missing break for some grand gesture to their parents later, especially since they had shipped so many of the supplies it was ridiculous. This time there was just one decent sized box. A few inches by a few inches Please don't come at me, I'm still American. at most. Still, wrapped nicely in brown paper with twine neatly tied around it. A little You know who this is for. tag on top as a cheeky nod to Elsi.

This one held... rocks. But they were very shiny, very pretty rocks. With a purpose. Depending on if Elsi was actually on time to class or early would determine whether or not he got to open it now or later. Within the box was eight carefully wrapped crystals. Elsi knew that Dori went crazy for crystals, and part of these gifts was Dori sharing those interests and parts of themselves with Elsi. Those parts that he knew intimately well over the years. Some parts being the start to their friendship, crystals being part of it. The reminder of jade and citrine wrapped within the friendship bracelet that they wore.

The crystals were as follows: a rose quartz heart (for unconditional love), yellow topaz (for the joy of friendship), a black tourmaline pyramid (for protection), blue lace agate (for communication and calm), a carnelian heart (for absorbing negative energy), labradorite (for self-discovery), lapis lazuli (being authentic to you), rhodochrosite (for sorting through emotions). Hopefully- internally, Elsi was starting to figure out what this was for. But Dori had no way of knowing and they had set this torture up for themselves.

A note? Yes, of course there was:

On the eighth day of Christmas my best friend gave to me: eight shiny crystals! Let's make some music tomorrow after dinner in the rehearsal room!

On the Eighth Day of Christmas PV Elsian Closed

Two more days.

2 more days, only 1 if you didn’t count today, and he’d be free. Free from homework. Free from studying. Free from practice and waking up early and classes. Free from school!...well…sort of.

At the very least he’d be free from most of his responsibilities and that was enough for him.

He was honestly just thankful no of the professors has seen fit to hand out last minute homework to turn in tomorrow. That would’ve been downright evil and the boy was holding out hope that that luck would hold up for the last few classes because if not? Well if he had more energy he’d riot. As it stood now, he’d likely just cry until he dragged up the will to work.

Entering the classroom, he was bordering that fine line between on time and just barely early. Feet dragging, bag slung over his shoulder he practically melted into the seat next to Dori. Bag slipping to floor. Head held in hands like a defeated 32 year old trying to make sense of taxes he began, “if there's even a single worksheet for homework I’m going to burst into tears.” It was less a warning than a threat to the greater universe. Because Elsian wasn’t playing. Nor was he above making the professor simply take back their words out of pure pity or discomfort.

I swear to Merlin's sparkly blue robes I’ll do it.

No, he wasn’t being over dramatic.

No he wasn’t trying to be funny.

This was serious business!

He sighed, dragging his head out from his hands to aim a tired but sincere smile at Dori. “Sorry. I just really don’t want surprise assignments.” He huffed. Slowly he straightened, eyes finally catching sight of the box. “What’s that?” He pointedly stared at the box, brow raised and a small silly smirk on his face as he leaned over to read the tag if the other wasn’t fast enough to hand it over or take it away from his grubby hands.

You know who this is for.

...hmm…” He made a show of thinking. Chin in hand as he leaned against the desk, free hand tapping at the desk. “It’s for George isn’t it. I can’t believe you’ve replaced me.” He sniffed dramatically, leaning against their shoulder and faking despair, “it’s because I tried keeping the blanket isn’t it. I thought we both agreed it was your fault for leaving it with me!

Jokes aside, he was happy to sit with Dori during class.

After a bit of dramatics, perhaps some fashionable witty banter back and forth he made grabby hands for the box, hands snatching the sides as he slowly dragged it closer to him, because there was no way he was gonna waste more time before class started and be forced to wait until the end. “Gimme George's gift. It’s mine now.

As if it hadn’t been already.

As usual, the box was carefully unwrapped. Though this time mixed with side glances and dramatic timing as Dorion was, for once, there to witness his reaction and he was being a little dramatic shit about it.

He pulled at the top, peeking in to reveal…!

Rocks.

Different, pretty, shiny rocks-

They were crystals!

Elsian wasted very little time in promptly pouring the different crystals onto the desk to sort and question and admire his newest addition to his present hoard. The note was quickly read, and though it got a raised brow at Dorion, because he couldn’t remember a time either of them had shown signs of being musically inclined, he didn’t ask questions. Because it was quickly becoming the 1 unspoken rule.

He’d never been the best at remembering all the different crystals and their meanings, usually only remembering certain bits of info Dorion themselves had taught him. But that didn’t mean he was any less thankful or interested in the crystals he’d received. It was part of Dorion and their family, and he’d always be interested in learning more simply based on how much they seemed to care about it.

Some he knew. Or at least, thought he kinda remembered. Like yellow topaz, that was something to do with friendship. Lapis lazuli was something like truth to yourself right? He was quick to ask Dorion, pointing out the different ones until they got about halfway through to black tourmaline pyramid. Protection.

There wasn’t a second to waste. Elsian grabbed it after a quick point to the carnelian heart (for absorbing negative energy) and the words, “and you said that one’s for negative energy right?

He hardly gave Dori a moment to reply before he was holding both in his hand, and then rubbing them against the desk as if to ward away something as more students trickled in, signaling the beginning of class. “These 2 better work against pop quizzes."
