Astra let out a huff of frustration. "Bloody hell," she muttered, scanning the shelves. "All these books and I can't find a good jinx." Shouldn't have said that aloud, you idiot. Cassi's going to bloody kill you if the staff makes us quit the prank war.
She sighed and walked out of the section she was in. Where am I? She didn't really recognize this part of the library. She would normally explore, but she had Transfiguration coming up in twenty minutes and she probably needed to at least look over the spells they were learning.
Ah, who am I kidding? I'm gonna explore even if I end up late. Astra's mouth turned in a half smile. Her mother would not be proud of this decision. But, then again, Morella wasn't there to stop her, was she?
As Astra started down the shelves, reading each title with care, she seemed to lose herself to the world of books. It was wonderful, the occasional creaking of the floorboards, the faint rustling as her fingertips danced along the spines, the slide of a book making its way off the shelf.
She found a work of fiction, and realized she was in an aisle full of fantasy... written by wizards who could use magic. Would that make these history books, but more fun to read? Astra thought, laughing a little. Why don't we give it a try? Can't be that bad. She sat on the floor with her back against the shelf, delving into the pages of her newfound interest with expectations of grandeur.
She was only a chapter in when she remembered she had class. Oh dear. Normally, she'd continue reading, but this was her first Transfiguration class ever! The first time she'd be meeting the teacher. And if she wanted to skip class in the future (which she definitely did) she didn't want a reputation as a troublemaker yet. Too many eyes. She shot to her feet and shelved the book hurriedly, taking note of the title. As she was speeding out of the aisle, she bumped into someone.
They were roughly a half foot taller than her, meaning she slammed straight into their chest. Astra let out a muffled sound of surprise as her vision suddenly filled with the sight of a blue tie. Then she was falling backwards. Wonderful. She stepped back and her arm flew forward, latching onto the person in front of her.
As soon as she was upright, though, she stepped back from the boy, completely detaching herself. "Sorry about that," she said with an apologetic smile, trying to hide her blush. The boy looked surprised. "Um, I know I've just bumped into you and everything, but I'm a little lost and really need to get to class. I'm not one to ask, but can you please direct me to the Library doors?" At least you didn't botch your words this time, but it's not exactly the best first impression.

That day, August had about a half an hour gap between his History of Magic class and Charms. He had first thought of either going back to the Ravenclaw dorms or the Study Room to knock out some of the homework that was quickly piling up, but ended up deciding to head down to the library and find a book to help him go more in depth on his History of Magic essay. He hoped to get the best grades possible his first year, and he wouldn't accomplish that unless he went above and beyond on all his homework assignments.
Now in the library, he was carefully going through each shelf and scanning the titles on the spine of each book. He didn't see anything that would help him get an Outstanding on his essay however. Perhaps he was searching in the wrong area of the library and simply needed to expand his search further out. Turning a corner, a girl with red hair came shooting out of the next aisle and ran right into him. At first he was slightly annoyed, but quickly resumed a neutral expression and took the arm latched onto his own arm to steady the girl before she fell.
"Careful, or you might hurt yourself," he cautioned her, not really paying attention to her, his mind still focused on his essay. She apologized hurriedly and asked if he would show her to the library doors. Getting lost he could understand, but if he took her to the doors, he would have to start all over again in his search. How very irritating. However, he nodded, "Of course. Come on, follow me, the doors are that way." August pointed in the direction of the doors. He set off walking, not bothering to check and make sure the girl was following him.

Astra speaking: #136323
Thoughts: Italics
Others speaking: Bold"Of course. Come on, follow me," the boy said. He had a nice voice, even if it did sound a bit jaded.
Astra was scolding herself relentlessly as she followed him. He looks irritated, why so irritated? I didn't expect him to lead me out, she thought as she struggled to keep up. Bloody long-legged people. The boy didn't look back at her at all. She could tell from his uniform that he was a Ravenclaw. He was probably in here to study or something.
"Thanks," she said as she finally caught up to him. She ran a hand through her tangled hair, turned light and reddish from the sun. It was usually more brown-ish, but red tint seemed to be a Norrick thing.
She didn't know the kid, but she felt kind of bad for bumping into him and apparently disrupted something very important. He seemed to be tense, focused on things elsewhere. "Sorry, again, for inconveniencing you like this. Is there anything I can do to make it up? Maybe I could help you find a book?" Having been in the library nearly all day, she could vaguely remember what most of the shelves held. But of course you couldn't remember the direction of the door. Honestly, Astra!
She peered at the brown haired boy. She vaguely recognized him from... Potions, maybe? But then again, he could've been a second or third year for all she knew. "May I ask your name?" She was curious now, and she had no self control when it came to curiosity as she was finding out with every moment spent at Hogwarts. "I'm Astra, by the way."Interacting with @August Turner
