Amaris woke up this morning and didn't feel like waking up. Well, this wasn't particularly unusual - but there was one thing that stood out to her. Her hair! She would have to sort it out in a bathroom somewhere. Luckily she had her comb of vanity too. That thing works miracles.
Upon wondering the corridors (whist covering her head with a cloak hood and hat) and ending up in a bathroom somewhere, she removed the beloved comb out of her pocket and took the first swipe. Amaris's hair was very knotty and scruffy, but that was nothing compared to what this comb has dealt with before.
Thank you, Madam Malkins.
In no time, Amaris's hair was looking stunning in an effortless beach-wave look. She rocked her new hairstyle!
Imagine if I were to lose this, huh? Deep trouble I would be in for sure with my hair! - Amaris thought to herself.
But just at that moment of thought and whilst Amaris was posing and being goofy alone in front of the bathroom mirror, some other girl walked into the bathroom too. Oops. This was embarrassing. The girl gave her a weird look and walked in to the first available toilet-cubicle stall.

Astra was just sick of it. Sick to her stomach, that is, after reading a particularly gory horror piece her aunt had recommended. She ran to the lavatory as fast as possible so she wouldn't heave her meager breakfast in the middle of the hall.

As she walked into the mostly empty restroom, she noticed a Gryffindor girl with very pretty hair posing in front of a mirror. Astra tried to smile, but.. it didn't exactly look like one. She dashed into the nearest stall. "Dear Merlin, Aunt Asa," she mutters as her stomach turns. Some books just aren't suitable for eleven year olds.

Moments pass, and Astra's stomach thankfully retains all of its food. The nausea leaves as quickly as it came. Astra exists the stall and washes her hands for good measure, splashing some cold water on her face. The Gryffindor is still there, giving her hair one last toss. "Your hair is very pretty," Astra remarks, smiling for real this time.

Amaris felt really awkward whilst that girl was in the toilet cubicle - it was a big shock. Should she have already left by now? Should she have explained something to the girl? Amaris decided to stay a few minutes. She had heard the other girl mutter something, but didn't quite properly hear it straight, so ignored it.
Once the girl had exited the toilet stall, Amaris was surprised as to why she even went in to the bathroom. She hadn't heard the toilet flush -or even a sound of urine or toilet paper- so why was this person using the bathroom? It seemed like quite a weird thing to ask, so Amaris didn't bother.
When the girl had left the toilet cubicle, she went straight to the sink and splashed some cold water on to her face. Amaris tossed her hair behind her shoulder and the girl smiled at her. It was an actual genuine smile!
"Your hair is very pretty," said the girl.
Was joking or taking the mickey? Amaris wasn't sure if she was being nice, so just flashed a smile back at the girl and walked out of the bathroom. Not many people wanted to get to know Amaris, so it wasn't like this girl could be any different.

Astra tilted her head in confusion. I mean, I'm not one for complements either, but... not even a word? she thought. She turned the water off and made her own way out. She seemed to be heading the same way as the other girl, which made her groan inwardly. She's going to think I'm a stalker or something now.

Astra would've been content to stay behind her if she wasn't cursed with a fast walk. Within a few turns, she had caught up to the girl and was beside her. Stupid, stupid, stupid fast walk. She glanced over at the girl. She was very pretty in general, not just the hair. She had the Gryffindor crest on her robes.

Astra felt extremely awkward just walking in silence beside a girl she didn't know at all, who had just brushed off a sincere compliment (those were quite hard to come by from Astra), and was now probably thinking that this Slytherin is the weirdest person in the world. I mean, I went into the bathroom and nothing happened. Made me look like a wackjob, I'm positive.

She soon pulled out ahead of the Gryffindor, a blush of embarrassment on her face as she ran the events over in her head. Should I apologize? No, that'll make it weirder. Not watching where she was going, she tripped over an uneven tile, her foot catching by the toe of her sneakers.

Astra winced as her knee made contact with the stone floor, every pound of her skinny body slamming into the contact point. A hiss of pain escaped her as she sat up and moved her leg. For Merlin's sake! "Bloody hell," she muttered, her knee throbbing under her denim pant leg.

Astra would usually get right up, as she had a high pain tolerance, but her leg simply wouldn't let her. This was going to be bad.
