"I'm going to straight-up ditch you here." Galadriel's father said sheepishly as they stood in front of the robe shop.
Galadriel turned her glare on him. After her disastrous interaction in Flourish and Blotts, she wasn't feeling good. Instead, her mind kept turning to dark thoughts. "Fine. You weren't in Ollivanders or Flourish and Blotts. I can get my stuff without you." Galadriel snapped back, irritated that her father always seemed to leave right in front of the stores Galadriel needed to go to.
Galadriel's father looked slightly stunned for a moment. "Come on Aerobook," He pleaded, using a pet name for Galadriel. "It's just, you need to get fitted with robes, and..." He trailed off awkwardly.
Oh. Was Galadriel's first thought. Ohh.
They stood there awkwardly, Galadriel's hot temper dampening as time went past.
"Um... Can I have some galleons?" Galadriel finally broke the silence.
As if he had been saving his energy reserves for just this moment, Galadriel's father snapped back into action, reaching a hand into his robe to pull out a small leather pouch.
"Here. I'll come with you afterwards, to get your cauldron. I promise, Aerobook." Galadriel's father handed the pouch gently to Galadriel and stepped away, leaning against the front of the building.
Galadriel hesitated. But not for long. "Thanks." She said sharply, before whirling around and walking into the shop, her footsteps heavier than usual.
Inside, the shop was basically a giant closet, in Galadriel's opinion. She huffed, the air inside notably warmer, probably due to all the thick material everywhere.
A lady near the front noticed her. "Hello! You must be here for a fitting!" She assumed.
"Yep." Galadriel answered shortly.
The lady took her to a small raised pedestal, where she had Galadriel stand as she took Galadriel's measurements.
"Hmm..." The lady began. "Alright! I've got your measurements. What do you need to buy?" The lady looked at Galadriel expectantly.
Galadriel rummaged through her pocket, pulling out the supply list that had come attached with her acceptance letter. "Three plain black work robes, one black pointed hat, protective gloves, and a black winter cloak with silver fastenings." She listed monotonously. Then, she looked up at the lady.
The lady seemed to think for a moment, scrutinizing Galadriel and tapping her tape measure against her cheek, kind of like a classic thinking pose or something.
"Yeah... I think you're that size... Mhm, winter cloak... silver fastenings?" The lady was mumbling.
Galadriel waited, attempting to stand still and look regal while not fidgeting impatiently. Finally, the lady seemed to come out of her haze.
"Oh, I'm sorry dear. Let me grab those robes for you!" The lady whisked off, returning a few short minutes later with three sets of basic black robes. She handed the robes off to Galadriel while she dashed off again, returning with the black hat and black winter coat.
Galadriel's hands were full with the robes and cloak, so the lady ended up awkwardly putting the hat on Galadriel's head.
"Let me see, what did I miss? Oh, gloves! One more moment, dear!" The lady retrieved a pair of gloves, putting it on the stack of robes in satisfaction.
Galadriel could barely peek over the top of the pile of clothes in her arms. "Err... you don't have anything to carry this stuff in, do you?" Galadriel asked around the pile of clothing.
"I might have a bag around here..." The lady rummaged around and pulled out a large tote bag. She took the robes and cloak from Galadriel, stuffing them into the bag. "Here you go!" She handed off the bag towards Galadriel.
"Thank you." Galadriel quickly adjusted the hat on her head before grabbing the bag. Might as well wear the hat out, yeah? She held the bag in her left hand while searching for her money pouch with her right hand. She pulled it out, looking through the pouch and pulling out a few galleons.
The lady accepted the galleons with a large smile, then waved Galadriel off with her new purchases.
