Summer Camp - Sugar Fair
Sugar was such a lovable subject among Hogwarts students.
In fact, it should have been a lovable subject among all reasonable people. Amaris Knight and her partner, Lizzi Silver was lucky (and hardworking, let's not forget that) enough to be chosen by the headmaster Solomon Lear and his league of Head-of-Houses to be a summer planner. Like all reasonable people, she could not bear to not include sugar in the activities. It was a beautiful summer day, the sky free of clouds, the grounds filled with blooming summer flowers. All was perfect.
Amaris had spent most of the morning setting up the campgrounds with Lizzi Silver. Together, they had put up stalls. They were yet to be decorated, for the Gryffindor wanted the students themselves to customise their stands. She had placed bowls and plates on the stands as well, in case students forgot to bring them. Little magical lights decorated the paths, just so Hogwarts could feel a little bit more 'magic-y'. Imagine the deliciousness! Hopefully as the moderators, Amaris and Lizzi could have their free share of sweets. Hopefully.
Still, whether they were allowed a taste of their hard work or not, Amaris was still happy nonetheless. Imagine the smiles on the students faces as they share their sweets around! Amaris could not help but realise some young wizards, witches, and wixes, even the first years, were starting to lose their twinge of childish wonder and joy. What had life placed upon them that was such a burden? Amaris could not help but wonder.
Yet it was perfect- but oh wait it was not. It was still missing something- two things in fact- students and sweets! With a smile that spread ear to ear, Amaris welcomed the students into the little patch of land that belonged to the Sugar Fair. When everyone seemed to have come, Amaris stepped out to greet them cheerfully. It would be such an afternoon of joy- that was if no one threw up from their large intake of sugar. Still, the school nurse should be there to help in such a situation.
'Welcome, my fellow students, to the Sugar Fair!' Amaris began. Instead of confetti, she threw a hand of sweet wrappers onto the ground. She knew it was littering, but she'll pick them up after the activity was over. 'Each student will begin with fifty (50) tokens, and you can collect them from Lizzi over there,' the Cuban said, pointing to a stand the Ravenclaw was occupying. 'You may sell or buy sweets, or if you're feeling particularly generous, even share sweets. Eat all you want- just don't throw up! Even if you do,' she said with a wink, 'That's all part of the fun.' Amaris turned and gestured for them to go collect their tokens.

Lizzi was stood at the stall she had been showed, panting and breathing and generally attempting to assure herself that she'd be fine. All you have to do is give a bag to each student. You can do it.
She had already counted out 50 tokens into each bag, so it was true that she was simply required to hand over one bag to each student.
Then she heard Amaris saying, "collect them from Lizzi over there." The mass of students began pushing and shoving to try and get their tokens.
"Hey, hey! Line up, you all get the same amount of tokens anyway, it doesn't matter, chill!"
Once they had formed some sort of a line, Lizzi began handing out bags to the students, with the occasional "There you go," or "Have fun!"
After the first few, Lizzi fell into a steady rhythm, and became quite content with her role.
When the students began to teeter out, and she was getting down to the last few, Lizzi noted that there would be one bag left. Scanning the crowds for Amaris, Lizzi yelled, frightening the small Hufflepuff girl in front of her.
"Hey, Amaris! There's one bag left! 25 each, yeah?" She winked, and waited to see what Amaris would say.

Summer Camp - Sugar Fair
Lily stood in line for the sugar fair waiting to get her tokens. She was very excited seeing as this was her first summer camp and to be honest she couldn't wait. Unfortunately, Colin was not going but Simon Kincaid, prefect of hufflepuff, writer, and broom racer as well as a 4th year, was here and so was Colin's best friend AngelFyre McCubbin, who is a prefect and third year. She also happened to be Simon's amazing girlfriend. She couldn't wait to see them and also couldn't help but wonder if Maverick Castle was going to be there. Maverick was Lily's crush and they got along quite good. They both loved books and were great together. Right now they were just friends. But Lily hoped that one day they would go farther to maybe girlfriend and boyfriend and maybe one day get married. But that's a long way away. Her 11 year old self is definitely not thinking clearly but hey she wanted to enjoy her childhood. She had never told Colin she liked Maverick but she knew he would never let her forget it ever.
Lily took her bag to tokens with a smile and went to go spend them.

| ─── | It was Saturday, July 1st, 2023.
After having a very interesting first time within the Thestral Cabin earlier that morning, Tone was pumped. He couldn't wait to see what awaited them at this year's summer camp at Hogwarts. Surely there were some fun things to do and Hogwarts students usually put their all into piecing things together. Maybe he'd even reunite with some old friends while making some new ones! Tone headed down to the first part of the camp, something the itinerary listed as the Sugar Fair. It was already something he knew he'd be into. After all, he loved to bake and sweets were something he could eat all the time. What would it be like at the Sugar Fair??? Would there be a variety of things to choose from? Would it be buffet style or restaurant style? Or something completely different than those two? The pink haired teen licked his lips just thinking about what was to come. The first thing he saw were a bunch of stalls set up at the area. There were quite a few of them. As one of the organizers spoke, welcoming them to the Sugar Fair, Tone listened to her words. He was somewhat confused by them, did she mean they could set up a stall of their own selling sweets if they wanted to do so? That sounded like fun! Or were they supposed to buy sweets with the tokens they would give them? Tone wasn't sure. When he was given his starting 50 tokens, Tone decided to ask the two girls in charge. "Hey, so do we use these tokens to buy sweets from the stalls? Or do we use them to set up a stall of our own to sell sweets? Can you do either or both?" He asked, wondering whether either of them could enlighten him as to what was supposed to happen. The best option was to do both because then you could see happy smiles on customers and also get to enjoy sweets too. But he wouldn't mind if he was only allowed to sample. After all, he hadn't planned on making and selling sweets in the first place. |

Lizzi watched as the smiling students walked between stalls, chattering and laughing.
Suddenly, Lizzi was approached by a tall student. Lizzi found this rather intimidating, until she realised that everyone was here to embrace their inner child today, and Lizzi was there to help them achieve that. She smiled at the student, who had come to ask whether they should be buying or selling sweets.
"Either, my friend! Either! If you can find a spare stall, and have brought some sweets, go for it! Sell some sugar! If not, just take your time sampling the wonderful array brought along by others! Have fun!"
And she waved him off with a smile.
Did Amaris say we can take free sweets? Lizzi thought to herself. I'm not fully sure, so I'll spend these 25 tokens, and try and find her after that. Lizzi wandered off, smiling like the rest of the students, unable to contain her excitement at the prospect of "free" sweets.
The first thing Lizzi purchased was a handful of Fizzing Whizbees. I just have to try these!
Thanking the stall owner, and popping the sugary treat into her mouth, Lizzi wandered away to see what other delights awaited her.

The event was called a sugar fair. They weren't completely sure what that meant, but two Hogwarts girls were hosting it and they quickly explained how everyone would have tokens to trade for sweets. Zophyr was feeling rather excited. They'd always had something of a sweet tooth (I mean, who doesn't?), but here the sweets were going to be very different from the ones back at home.
They acquired their tokens and started checking out the stalls. There weren't very many students here yet, but one of them, an older one, was asking one of the hosts a few more questions about how everything worked. Zophyr decided to go over and listen, just in case there was anything interesting they could find out about. There wasn't really, but listening in on conversations had become a habit. Besides, the accents here were awesome. Zophyr was already used to accents from all over Africa, but all over the world? That was something else entirely. It was amazing.
Zophyr took their tokens and started walking around, looking for a stall that had something that looked good. Nothing was familiar, but that didn't mean it was harmful. They finally decided on a ginger newt, and after biting into it, they were glad they had. Glancing down at their bag that still had 49 tokens in it, they couldn't help but grin. They'd be using every single one.

But he did end up making a decision. Tone decided to simply sample the sweets being offered by others. Rather than claim a stall of his own to sell sweets to others. Mostly because he didn't want to get stuck in one place for too long since he wanted to explore what the camp had to offer. Not to mention make as many new friends as possible this time. He also wanted to reunite with his old friends too. The last thing he wanted was for them to think he was ditching them. "Okay, thanks!" Tone said in response to Lizzi's words. The pink haired teen would have decided to pursue Lizzi as a friend if someone else hadn't come up to him soon after. By the time he'd looked back, she was gone. Well, that made his mind up right then and there! Tone would go after the newcomer first and he let his eyes flicker over the boy who had just arrived. He didn't recognize him but if he were to make a guess, he might be from Uagadou? After the stranger received their tokens, they moved towards the stalls, eventually purchasing a ginger newt. Tone smiled as he came over to him. "Hey! You like sweets a lot? If so, you should totally check out the pastries here." He told the other boy. "They taste delicious!" He said, nodding towards one of the pastry stalls. "I'm Tone! You are?" Tone asked the boy, giving out his quidditch nickname, as it was his preferred one. People did that all the time, they always tended to use nicknames they liked over their real names. That is, unless they liked and felt comfortable with their real names all the time. What would this boy be like? |

He asked Zophyr whether they liked sweets a lot, to which they nodded, a small smile on their face. It wasn't like they couldn't live without them, but they didn't say no when a sweet was offered. And these were all free! The pink-haired boy then recommended some pastries, saying they tasted delicious. "I will try them out," Zophyr said simply, making their way to the stall the older boy had pointed out.
As they walked, he introduced himself as Tone. It was a peculiar name that Zophyr had never heard of before. Was it like a tone of voice? Or some sort of musical tone? They weren't sure. "I am Zophyr." The boy seemed to want to stick to them and get to know them more, and Zophyr wasn't sure what to think of that just yet. They didn't usually like company too much, but at the moment they didn't mind it too much, and this boy wasn't proving to be anything but kind. So... "Nice to meet you."
Using a second token, Zophyr bought themselves a pastry like Tone had suggested. The boy was right. It did taste delicious. They ended up getting a second one. "Thank you for the recommendation," they told their newfound acquaintance with another smile. It seemed Tone knew his sweets.

Sugar. Of course Kit was interested. Not that Kit wouldn't be interested if it was a different activity, but sweets had a certain draw that the Beauxbatons girl couldn't deny. It was also the perfect way to end off the day by getting hyper with her recently acquainted cabinmates. At least there had been a chance to meet the saner version of Kit before they grew annoyed by whomever she turned into after sampling various candy stalls. First impressions were important after all and she didn't want to completely ruin her chances of getting along with them.
Kit would arrive a little before the Sugar Fair actually opened, taking the time to readjust and twist her hair into two loose buns where she wouldn't have to worry about it getting into her sweets. A few fly strands were far less worrying than the messy waves it had been before. Soon enough as more people showed up, there would be a little announcement for how the event was supposed to run with its token system as well as the option to both buy and sell with stands set up to better present the treats. She nodded along, getting in line to get her bag of tokens with a chirpy, "thank you!" before proceeding into the actual fairgrounds, a slight skip in her step as she wandered along.
Kit did actually have candies to sell, her own small assortment that joined her on the portkey trip from Beauxbatons to the Hogwarts campground. While she was happy to sell some of it in exchange for more tokens, standing behind the stall sounded kind of miserable when she could be out and about buying her own candy from the other vendors. The girl still set up her stand though, putting out some pepper imps, licorice wands, jelly slugs, sherbet lemons, caramels, and acid pops. She would take a step back to appreciate the varied selection even if small in portion, but grabbed one of the acid pops for herself and popped it into her mouth. Almost immediately her face scrunched up at its sourness, but she grinned despite the burning sensation. The extra fair supplies lost a bowl as Kit took it back to her booth along with the materials to make a small sign. It stated, "Honor Code! 1 candy for 1 token!" There, now her little area was done and she wouldn't have to keep an eye on it!
With that, she smiled and took some coins out of her token bag in preparation as she headed off to look at the other confections around. Perhaps there would be something to neutralize the acidity of her lollipop before it burned a hole in her now-green-pigmented tongue.

Of course they would like sweets, they were at the Sugar Fair, right? It would be strange if they didn't! "Mm!" Tone nodded energetically as Zophyr agreed to try the pastries. He also took one, using a token to purchase said sweet, choosing an apple one. Munching down on it, flakes of pastry covered his lips and dropped onto the ground before him. It was unavoidable, that was what happened when you ate a pastry, no matter who you were. Tone nodded again when Zophyr gave his name. As Zophyr said it was nice to meet him, the pink haired teen brightened and he grinned at the boy by his side. "Same to you!" He said to him. "Of course! You can always come to me for sweet suggestions! I actually like baking homemade ones." Tone told him and flashed another smile. "You know, we should become friends! Want to be mine?" He asked, waiting for Zophyr to respond to his words. It was around this time that someone else showed up at the fair. Tone let his eyes flicker over to the newcomer, who wasn't too far away from them. This was shaping up to be great! Maybe he could make two new friends within the first day here! If Zophyr agreed to his request, he could go after the girl next! Even if he didn't, Tone wouldn't give up on him. But he also couldn't give up on the chance to snag another! What these two didn't realize was the pink haired teen's determination and willpower to keep going after those he set his mind to. Regardless of what they did, he'd still pursue them to the ends of time. Just because he didn't give everyone every second of his time, didn't mean he liked others more than them. When he went after someone in particular, he zeroed in on them until he got what he wanted (to be their friend) and then let them have some space for a time. But if they ever needed him, he'd be there for them as much as possible. |
