"Twas truly the utmost importance dayeth of my'th lith. I justh gotteth my wandeth-" Galadriel began.
"While I hate to interrupt your monologue-" Edric Aarakor, Galadriel's father, interrupted. "- Which, by the way, where did you even get that accent from- we're here." He concluded, stopping in front of a store window clustered with books.
Galadriel huffed irritably. "Fine. I'll stop blessing you with my gorgeous accent." Then, the last part of what her father had said seemed to finally register in her brain. "Wait, we're here? At Flourish and Blotts?" She asked, her tone changing from irritated to downright worshipful.
"You're so shallow." Galadriel's father snorted, his face full of amusement. "But yeah, we're here. Let's head inside." He led the duo towards the store door, where there was a steady stream of customers entering and exiting.
Flourish and Blotts! I have no right to be excited, I've been here so many times before... but it's always changing, I love this bookstore, I look books, I love- Merlin, I sound like such a nerd. Eugh, get a life Galadriel. Galadriel punished herself mentally, promising she would limit the amount of books she bought. ...Did she care if she broke that promise and went over her limit? Absolutely not.
As if he had somehow been able to intercept Galadriel's totally private mental promise to break her first mental promise, Galadriel's father glanced at her mischievously. "Remember that we're here for school books, Aerobook." He reminded her affectionately, using her pet nickname.
Galadriel groaned, but nodded slightly. Well, if she wasn't going to punish herself, she supposed she needed somebody to do it for her.
"What's the first thing you've got on that list? I remember some of the books from my list when I went to Hogwarts, but I'm sure the curriculum's changed over the years." Her father reminisced sadly as he pushed the door to the shop open and shooed Galadriel in before him.
Galadriel rummaged through her pocket and dug out a paper list. "Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger." She announced.
"Wonderful. Go find that and the rest of your books and meet me at the counter so I can pay." Galadriel's father clasped his hands together with a grin.
Galadriel blinked, his words taking a moment to register with her. "Wait, wait wait, you're leaving? Again? There's nothing 'messy' about shopping for books- not like a wand, right?" She asked, suddenly desperate for company.
Galadriel's father gave a laugh and waved his hand. "Don't worry Aerobook. I just need to pick up a few books for myself." He explained.
A blink. Then another. "Oh. I'll see you at the counter, then." She waved towards him as he left her and weaved his way through the bookstore, dodging around groups of people and stacks of books alike.
Guess I'm on my own, then. Maybe I can find somebody to talk to... what am I thinking, my social awkwardness will just disappear? Ha! I'll just grab my books and meet Father at the counter... The girl resolved, heading towards a bookshelf where another student was already standing.

Elizabeth wandered around Diagon Alley. Mum was talking to some other friends' parents, which was quite dull. She now had permission to go collect her books for her second year at Hogwarts. She found Flourish and Blotts and went inside. It was the same as the year before. She wonder if she'll bump into Cassie or Cicely, her friends at Hogwarts.
Though she wasn't at Hogwarts, there was still time and room for Ravenclaw pride. Dressed in her usual Ravenclaw-pride outfit proudly, she stepped inside the shop.
Elizabeth was very excited, waiting to buy every single book she layed her hands on. Well, not every single one. Her family wasn't very rich, but still, she had money for books. A lot of them. Getting her school books, she proceeded to buy some more. She was taking a number of other subjects next year, so she got herself books on Muggle Studies, Study of Ancient Runes and Care of Magical Creatures for extra studies. She also got some other reading materials.
Elizabeth got a bit pile of books in her arms. She was going to the counter to buy everything when she bumped into someone, books tumbling out of her arms.
"Oh brother..." she cried, picking up all her fallen books wearily, then turned to a girl with light brown hair and pale skin, along with eerie yellow eyes. "Hello. Who are ya?"

Before she could reach the bookshelf, somebody bumped into Galadriel, causing Galadriel to stumble. Luckily, she caught herself before face-planting, which would definitely have been embarrassing. Blinking from the stumble, she noticed books had suddenly been scattered on the floor, as if somebody had dropped them.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" A voice cried out, shattering Galadriel's eardrums. The books immediately flew up into the air and hung there, suspended in motion.
Galadriel turned around to a observe a girl with blonde hair. Her bangs were so long, Galadriel could barely make out the girl's eye color, but eventually she determined one eye was green, and the other eye was blue. Freaky. Freaky cool.
The girl seemed to be scrutinizing Galadriel the same way Galadriel was observing the girl, but the girl must have come to some sort of conclusion, because she started speaking. "Hello. Who are ya?" The girl asked.
Galadriel blinked. "I feel like I should be the one asking you that." Especially considering you're the one who bumped into me. But Galadriel decided to keep that thought in her mind, not wanting to offend somebody who she just met.
Galadriel sighed. No use in being rude, she supposed. "Galadriel, of the Pureblood house Aarakor." She offered a tight smile, and extended a rigid hand if the girl wanted to exchange handshakes. She probably should have started out by asking what blood the girl had, considering her parents would go ballistic if Galadriel befriended a muggle-born, but did Galadriel care? Nope. At least, not yet. She'd decide if she liked this girl later, if the girl had a good personality.
"Who are you?" She asked instead.

The girl blinked, " I feel like I should be the one asking you that. Galadriel, of the Pureblood house Aarakor." She extanded a hand. Elizabeth shook it happily.
"Who are you?" Galadriel asked.
"I'm Elizabeth, Elizabeth Sunrise." Elizabeth told her, smiling, "Hogwarts too? Are you a first or second year?" she asked curiously.
She noticed some of the books torn in the crash. Sighing deeply, she thought she'd just have to ask Mum to fix them later.
After that she turned to Galadriel. What do pureblood generally like to talk about? Oh yes. "I'm half-blood," she told her, hoping against hope she wasn't going the wrong way of things, "Probably Slytherin, right? I'm Ravenclaw. Nice ta meet ya."
She smiled kindly to Galadriel. She'd never seen her at Hogwarts before, so this was probably a first year.
"Need some help finding some books?" she offered.
She thought much of this eerie-coloured-eyed girl. She was just a bit strange. She can't be born with those eyes, no, she must did something to change their colours. A strange thing to want to do.
As she observed little by little, she found her intriguing. So of course this girl wants to be in Slytherin, because no other people from other houses would state their kind of blood and their family name so proudly at first introduction. Elizabeth hope Galadriel liked half-bloods, because some purebloods don't. Some that go to the extent have parents that cut out their children completely from other parentage, claiming they have "filthy blood", or even traitors. Elizabeth waited nervously, the smile still not fading on her face.

The girl took the hand Galadriel offered, and shook it happily. That was a good thing, right? Her parents had told her to stay polite, and shaking hands during introductions was the right social move. But what if I extended my hand too soon? What if I was supposed to wait until after introductions? Merlin, I bet I've screwed things up terribly. That's probably why she shook it so happily- she shook it out of pity. Oh, Merlin, how do I fix this? She was so busy thinking about what she did wrong, she almost missed the opposite girl's introduction.
"I'm Elizabeth, Elizabeth Sunrise." The girl wore a polite smile as she introduced herself. "Hogwarts too? Are you a first or second year?" Elizabeth inquired curiously, but before Galadriel could answer, Elizabeth turned to her books and waved her wand. "Reparo!" The books that had been damaged in the fall started to mend themselves. "I'm a half-blood." The girl told Galadriel as she worked to fix the books.
She must be a second year, considering she's doing a spell. Galadriel eyed the magic jealously, but she was sure it came across her face as haughty. She still wasn't used to changing her facial expression into one of curiosity. Also, she mentioned she was a half-blood. Are Mother and Father going to be all right with that? I mean, at least she's not a mud- I mean, a muggle-born, right? I'm sure it'll be fine, as long as she's a half-blood.
Elizabeth finished mending her books and smiled at Galadriel, Galadriel immediately freaking out internally, worrying that the smile had some sort of sinister motive. "Probably Slytherin, right? I'm Ravenclaw. Nice ta meet ya. Need some help finding some books?" Elizabeth offered.
Wait, she's offering to help me find my books? Even though I'm younger than her? Plus, she's a Ravenclaw? That explains why she had so many books, I mean I'm sure she didn't need all of those for the second year...
Galadriel opened her mouth, the answers to all the questions this random girl had just shot at her on the tip of her tongue. "I'm a first year. And yeah, I'm hoping to be a Slytherin." Not that she had too much of a choice. She might be able to scrape by if she got into Ravenclaw, but she would absolutely be disowned if she went to Gryffindor. She didn't want to be a Gryffindor anyways. They were just... too chivalrous. Like, where's the reward for all that hard work, you know?
"And what's the catch?" Galadriel asked suspiciously. This heterochromia girl couldn't just be offering out of the goodness in her heart, could she? "For help with the books." Galadriel clarified. "What's the catch if you help me find my books?"

"Catch?" Elizabeth repeated, "Catch? Why should there be a catch?" she looked at Galadriel incredulously before scolding herself. Perhaps she lived in a family that gives her a catch in everything? That was something, and Elizabeth was so rude to be like this. She told Galadriel, "Oh -- there's no catch. I'll just help you. Uh... for... free?" she wondered if "free" was quite the right word.
Elizabeth stopped to ponder for a moment. Perhaps this girl -- Galadriel, perhaps she lived in a different family from Elizabeth's. Perhaps it's some kind of, well, Elizabeth didn't like the sound of it, cruel family? Wait, cruel is not the right word. It's too strong. Perhaps "strict" is the right word. She imagined how the world would be like if she lived in a very "strict" family. Talking about family --
"Elizabeth?" It was Mark, Elizabeth's older squib brother, with her younger sister, Rebecca, who was starting Hogwarts this year.
"Hiya Mark," Elizabeth said quite happily, "What are ya doing here?"
"Looking," Mark panted, "On Mum's orders. For you. Why are you gone so long? You had me worried sick. I want you to take Rebby with you, get her her books." He spotted Galadriel, "Who is she?"
"Galadriel Aarakor," Elizabeth told him promptly.
"Aarakor?" Mark repeated, straighting himself up, "Well I really must go. Take care of Rebby." He went out of the shop.
"Sorry," Elizabeth told Galadriel, "Where were we? Oh, yes, let's go get your books and Reb's."

"Catch? Catch? Why should there be a catch?" Elizabeth looked at Galadriel rather rudely.
Galadriel was miffed. Did I do something wrong? Why's she acting like there's never a catch, there's always a catch, right? Merlin, did I screw up this social interaction again?
The girl must have caught Galadriel fidgeting in nervousness, because she hastily explained. "Oh- there's no catch. I'll just help you. Uh... for... free?" Now it seemed Elizabeth was slightly put-off.
Oops. Did I make this conversation awkward for her? I hope I didn't just ruin her social life as well as my own... ha... ha...
Suddenly, a boy that looked like an older version of Elizabeth appeared behind her. Turns out he was her sister, and his name was Mark. Galadriel didn't really know how to act in this situation, so she just waited awkwardly until the boy walked away. That's when she noticed another girl, probably Elizabeth's sister. Was that girl just going to stay there, then, or...?
"Sorry," Elizabeth apologized, turning her attention back towards Galadriel. "Where were we? Oh, yes, let's go get your books and Reb's."
...Reb's? I guess that's her sister's name... and I guess her sister's tagging along as well. I guess it can't hurt to have one more, right? Plus, her sister looks to be my age. Maybe she's going to Hogwarts too?
Galadriel nodded. "I guess we can get our books." Then, at an attempt at being social, she decided to try a conversation starter. "So your sister's name is Reb? She looks like she's my age, is she also a first year?" Merlin, the sooner this social interaction is over, the better. Galadriel thought.

Galadriel agreed to get their books. Elizabeth quickly went to the counter and paid for her own books, before proceeding to help Rebecca and Galadriel.
"So your sister's name is Reb? She looks like she's my age, is she also a first year?" Galadriel asked.
"Oh yes," Elizabeth told her, "she's really excited, aren't you Reb?" She grinned at Rebecca.
Rebecca, a 10 years old girl, had long blonde hair rather than the short hair Elizabeth preferred. She also had green and blue eyes like Elizabeth.
"Exactly," Rebecca replied smoothly, "I'm going to be in Ravenclaw, like my sister. It's the best house. Better Than any other houses, especially Sly--" she ended her speech with a dangerous look from Elizabeth.
In her pocket, Elizabeth slowly dialed something from Galadriel's eyes "18482". Rebecca, hands suddenly going in her pocket, stopped talking at once. Then, after several seconds she said, "Sorry. I was rude."
"That is quite alright," said Elizabeth, rushing to get the horrible fact out of the way quickly, "So... let's take a look at your book lists... I see they are the same as they were last year! Hopefully none of the professors had changed, I like them a lot."
She prayed Galadriel had not taken her sister's words at heart. Would she? Maybe, maybe not. She sighed a bit.

After Galadriel gave the affirmative that she would get books with Elizabeth, Elizabeth went to the counter to pay for her own books. Galadriel decided to ask the Elizbeth's sister's name.
"Oh yes," Elizabeth told Galadriel her sister was also a first year. "she's really excited, aren't you Reb?" This question was directed to her sister.
"Exactly," Reb gave a smooth answer, like it had been well-rehearsed. "I'm going to be in Ravenclaw, like my sister. It's the best house. Better than any other houses, especially Sly-" Reb quickly broke off at a warning look from Elizbeth.
Galadriel's eyes narrowed with displeasure as she appraised Elizabeth's sister. Best house? Slytherin is obviously better... and did this girl just try to say Slytherin was a bad house, but her sister stopped her? Galadriel caught Elizabeth's pocket shaking. Probably shaking her hands in anger because her sister was being rude. Galadriel wanted to smirk, roll her eyes, and threaten Reb all at the same time, but since she didn't really know what to do in a situation like this, she opted to just stay silent, maintain her poker face, and let it play out.
A few seconds later, Reb started talking again. "Sorry, I was rude."
Galadriel glared at Reb before looking back at Elizabeth. I can't tell if she actually means that, but I'm assuming she doesn't mean that. Lucky for her that her sister who knows manners is here. Galadriel thought darkly.
"That is quite alright," Elizabeth tried to hurriedly change the subject. "So... let's take a look at your book lists..."
Wow, she really is going to ignore the fact that her sister scorned my family's traditional house. Great. Galadriel scowled.
"I need to go get the rest of my books. Thanks for the offer, but I got it." Galadriel shot at Elizabeth. She whirled around and left the pair behind her as she went in search for the rest of her books.
