I had begged mum to take me to the park for ages now. She kept putting it off. Dad said he was busy. Why didn’t anyone want to take me? I groaned and flopped on the floor of my room, hmph if they weren’t going to take me then I will have to take myself! It was only like not that much fat away from the house! And I won’t be gone long. What harm could be bestowed upon me? Haha, that’s a funny word. Bestowed. I heard mum use it the other day!
Before I talked myself out of sneaking away, I got into my knees and searched under my bed for paper so I could try and ket mummy and daddy know where I was. After writing, I clambered to my feet and bounded down the stairs. One word on my mind: freedo—
"Lucian Michael Bauer Mornstern. Where do you think you’re going, angel?" I froze as I got down the stairs, her voice, girl yet not unkind, travelling from behind me.
I turned around slowly and clasped my hands together, holding them behind my back. "Urm. Nowhere?" I replied, with an innocent smile in my face. She raised an eyebrow, her own smirk forming as she knew what I wanted to do. "Pleaseeeee take me," I begged, moving my hands in front of me. "Daddy’s always busy and you keep telling me not yet! Well it’s now yet," I was getting mardy as I spoke.
"It’s now yet?" she inquired with an amused look about her.
"Yes. You said not yet to me all week. Well yes yet," I watched my mother sigh before inclining her head.
"Fine, we may go. But Lucian, remember…"
"No speaking of magical things like Hogwarts or house elves or potions or spells or Centaurs or Werewolves—" mum interrupted me by scooping me up.
"Yes, my boy. You understand. You can stop now," she explained, laughing as I squirmed away from the hands that tried to tickle me. Eventually, she grabbed a few bits and bobs and we left the house, her usually gentle grip now an iron one as she nervously led me down the streets.
"Calm down, mummy. Why do you look… the way you do?" I asked, skipping instead of walking.
She peered down at me, a fond smile donning her cheeks. "Nothing baby. Mummy’s okay," I nodded, okay, and we carried on walking— well, she was walking but I was skipping; it looked fun. It is fun.
When we got closer to the park, ai could hear shouting and cheering and then booing, also. "Mummy what are they playing?" I asked as I saw a boy swing a bat and a ball flew in the air. "Doesn’t look like Quidditch," I added, warning a sharp look from my mum. Right. That’s a no-no.
"Must be a sport they play," she deduced, a slight emphasis on ‘they’. "Perhaps go and see if you can join or something, angel. I will stay here," Sadie explained as she sat at a bench and followed me protectively with her eyes. I didn’t see what the big deal about us coming here was. It’s just a park! Mummy says it’s because she is worried that something will happen and our identity is revealed, but what would be so bad? I’m a wizard! Not a dementor. I’m also a good wizard!
Well, I will be. I’m only seven right now, I don’t learn magic until I’m urm… eleven! That’s in uh, is it four years time? Woah, in four years I can go learn magic. I was pulled from my trance as a boy came and stopped at this thing on the floor. He seemed to be sweating a little. "Urm, urm excuse me," I called to him, too scared to tap him to get his attention. I smiled at him, "Uh- what, what are you doing?" I asked. "Is this a sport?” he turned around and grinned at me.
"Baseball!" he answered, "Do you want to play?" I thought, it did seem fun! I looked back at my mum who gave me a thumbs up from the bench so I hastily nodded at the other lad.
"Yeah!" I said excitedly, clapping my hands in excitement. I grabbed a bat and then got into place.

It was Saturday, and since my father wasn’t working today, he he agreed take me to a local park where we’d play and have fun. My mother wasn’t working either, but she and Penelope were going grocery shopping so she wouldn’t be able to come. After my father and I finished eating our breakfast, we got into my dad’s pickup and went to the park. It didn’t take us long to get to out destination, but once we did, my dad and I spent a good half hour or throwing a foot ball around. Eventually, we got bored of that and decided to take a walk around the park. As we walked, we noticed a group of boys playing baseball. “Hey dad,” I started, “can I go play baseball with them?” “You can play if they let you.” My dad replied. “Okay!” I said before running off across the green field to the group of boys.
They were currently off fetching the baseball that another boy hit with a bat before beginning to run, and so I waited for them to finish with that first. Once they were done, I came closer before asking “Hey guys! Can I play?” A few of the boys turned around. “Yeah sure, our team only has eight players so you can join.” One of the boys said. “There’s only two of us out here on the field so you can be the right fielder.” Another one said. “We have a few spare gloves over there if you need one.” The first boy added, pointing to a wagon across the field. “Alright, thanks guys.” I said before going to get a glove.
Most of the boys here clearly had experience because they knew exactly what they were doing, and so the game went quite smoothly for the rest of the top inning with the other team managing to score three more points before they got the maximum amount of three outs and their turn was over. The score was now 23-27 with my team being the one loosing. My team and I took off our gloves and dropped them off at the wagon so that the opposing team could get their gloves and get out onto the field. We then lined up to bat, with me being more towards the back of the line.
I turned to watch the first boy as he went up to bat, but then, something caught my eye. Well, technically it was a someone, and that someone was the boy in front of me. I turned my head back to take a look at him. He was a bit taller than me and he looked a bit older as well, but the thing that caught my attention was the fact that he looked like me. Well, now that I took a closer look, he seemed more different from me than the first time I had seen his face, but he still looked pretty similar. In fact, he might even have been me from the future with how similar he looked. “Good afternoon.” I said, greeting the boy. “I’ve noticed that you look like me, so I was just wondering if you were by any chance an older version of me from the future.” I joked. “Well, I wasn’t actually wondering since that’s impossible, but hey, it’s not every day that you find someone that looks like you.”

Some lad came up to me - a lad with an uncanny resemblance to myself - and greeted me. "Hi!" I responded excitedly, waving at him. He spoke and I frowned, what? "You speak funny," I told him, "And no, i’m not from the future! That’s silly," I laughed, running a hand through my hair. "You do look really like me!" I announced, nodding my head. "Mum taught me a word aaages ago that’s ‘uncanny’. Do you know what it means too? Well she would say we have an ‘uncanny resemblance’!” I told him.
I turned my attention back to the game and started to cheer as one of the boys ran. "WOOO!" I turned back to the doppelgänger, "Have you ever played before?" I asked him, "I haven’t! It’s really fun! Where do you live? I live a bit down there in a biiiig mansion," I rambled, almost bouncing with excitement. None of my cousins have ever played this! And if they have they never told me about it.
The line moved and I realised that I was only a few people away from the top.
"That’s my mum over there," I pointed and she waved at us causing a grin from me to show. "Where’s yours?" I asked, scouting around, spinning on the spot almost to find someone. "Do you want to be friends? I would love to have a friend!" could this be one of my first friends?

The boy turned around and immediately responded to my greeting by saying “Hi!” and after I had finished talking, he said that I spoke funny. He then agreed with me by saying that he’s not from the future and that I really do look like him. He then asked if I knew what the word uncanny meant and that his mother would say that we have an uncanny resemblance. “Yeah, we do have an uncanny resemblance although I do not know what the word uncanny itself means. And by me speaking funny, do you refer to my word choice?” After answering my questions, the boy turned back to the game. “Have you ever played before?” The boy asked at some point before proceeding to tell me that he didn’t and that it was really fun. He then asked me where I live before pointing somewhere and saying “I live a bit down there in a big mansion.” “A mansion?” I asked in surprise. “That’s cool, I wish I lived in a mansion. I live in a neighborhood somewhere over there.” I pointed in the relative direction of my house. “You can come over some time if you want and if my parents let.” I then answered the boy's first question. “I have played, but never with a group this big. And I agree, this game is really fun.”
After I finished talking, the boy pointed to his mom who waved at us and introduced her to me. “That’s my mum over there, where’s yours?” “She’s out grocery shopping with my little sister, but I’m here with my dad. He’s over…” I begun pointing to where I thought my dad was, only to realize there. It didn’t take me very long to find him though, he was a few meters away from his original location, and he was talking with another guy. I pointed to him and finished my sentence by saying “there.” My dad noticed me pointing at him and raised his hand before continuing talking to the other guy. After I introduced my father to the boy, he asked “Do you want to be friends? I would love to have a friend!” “Yeah, I definetly want to become friends.” I responded. “I’m Rodney, and you are?”
