Lost in the Library

Estelle had taken to exploring the castle - riding the staircases as they moved, opening every unlocked door and generally learning the locations of all the classrooms. As she opened this door, the smell of inky paper hit her, making her smile. She had found the library.
Estelle walked through rows upon rows of books, reading each name. She found books about everything, from galleons to grapevines.
Finally, Estelle's eyes fell upon one of the places she had been so eager to visit. The magical creature section.
Estelle ran her hand across the dusty books, learning the names. She was determined to read them all. She pulled out a book at random. Putting it on a nearby desk, she read the title. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. She laughed softly. Of course her hands had land on this book.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was one of Estelle's favourite books. She had a battered copy of it in her trunk which she had gotten for her ninth birthday, after she'd travelled to Scotland to see wild Hippogriffs. She had always wanted to be a magiczoologist and this book had been the beginning of her journey.
Estelle's watch beeped. It had been bought for her by her father, and was enchanted to work in magical environments, which usually messed with technology. She checked the time and realised it was nearly curfew. She didn't want to make a bad impression on her new teachers by being out after hours.
She turned and left, walking past books upon books. Finally Estelle spied what she thought to be the exit. She walked towards it, only to notice the copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them laying on a nearby desk. She was right back where she started.

The library was a- fourth home to Lea. The second was the Hufflepuff common room and the third the dueling room, but she still found herself often perusing the bookshelves or finding a cozy space to take notes. There had a lapse where the third year hardly stepped foot into the room, but now the girl stood in the middle of the room, staring at nothing in particular. A long deep breath and footsteps meandered over to the walls of textbooks, brown eyes sliding along the spines to read each individual title. Her hands remained tucked behind her back until she pulled out her intended book and made her way over to one of the tables. A quiet area, hopefully- a corner a little further away from the others but with a view of the rest of the library.
Lea took no notes, although a pencil twisted between fingers as she read. Hours passed where the girl remained still at her spot except for the gentle flicking of her writing instrument. Only her eyes would occasionally roam, observing as students wandered past or if they got too close to her seat. The thing- or person- that seemed to break her focus was one who left, then returned. Not an unusual activity perhaps if not for the lack of new books and how close it was to curfew. Students were supposed to be leaving- Lea was supposed to be leaving. She clearly hadn't, but the Hufflepuff should have.
The girl wouldn't leave her seat quite yet, but brown eyes attempted to catch the attention of blue. "Curfew's soon. A couple of books that you can find later aren't worth getting in trouble for." She stated, letting a moment of silence linger before stretching her arms and finally getting up. Her own book soon found itself tucked under her arm, and the girl stepped both towards the other student and the shelves that the book belonged to as she spoke up again. "Wh- what brought you back to this corner of the library?" Lost was the easy assumption, but perhaps there was more of a story Lea could glean.

Lost in the Library

As Estelle sat, wondering if someone had made a map for this maze of a library, an older girl sat nearby. She had tan skin and brown hair tied in a pretty braid.
"Curfew's soon. A couple of books that you can find later aren't worth getting in trouble for."
The girl stood and walked up to her. She was definitely older than her, but only slightly taller, probably in her second or third year at Hogwarts. She seemed genuinely nice and willing to help. Estelle liked her.
"Wh- what brought you back to this corner of the library"
Estelle grinned
"Books are always worth getting in trouble for. But that's not why I'm here. You see, I'm a little lost. I came in here to find books on magical creatures, but now I can't get out. Not that the library is the worst place to be lost - I love books - but it is nearly curfew and I don't want to get a detention in the first week. That would leave a really bad impression. I don't suppose you could show me how to get back?"
When Estelle was nervous, she had a tendency to ramble. She hoped the girl wouldn't hold it against her. Estelle suddenly realised she hadn't told the girl her name.
"I'm Estelle," She smiled nervously at the girl, hoping she would lead her out of this mess.

Lost in the Library

Linda came to the library once she ate dinner. She had some homework to be done and wanted to do it here out of all places. She was coming here every day so she learned a lot about it. Library already felt like another home. Well, it wasn't surprising as she did the same at home if she wasn't in the garden.
She was reading books, searching for library books for extra information and writing down everything she needed. She spent with it some time and this time she felt she was late. It was confirmed when she heard a girl telling someone that it's soon to be curfew.
Linda collected everything in her bag and stood up. She decided to take a book about dragons as usual. So she went to that section and noticed Estelle with another girl. She was close enough to hear their talking.
"Hey Estelle. We'd better go now to our dorm if we don't want problems. Hi, I am Linda. Thank you for telling about curfew, I was so focused with homework that forgot about time."
Linda was curious with herself how could she let it happen. Usually she didn't take much or at least was looking at time.

An eyebrow raised at the grin, a small indication of her curiosity. A grin meant an interesting story, right? Or perhaps the other was just happy to see another student. As the conversation continued, Lea still worked to put her books away assuming that her multi-tasking wouldn't dissuade the other from carrying on with their explanation. Her occasional glances back at the younger girl and her nodding along hopefully illustrated her intrigue even as lips pursed when the other disagreed with her statement on trouble. It was a good thing that she rambled on as it gave no time for Lea to think of a comeback, and how unfortunate it'd be to meet someone only to get into an argument over something so small.
First week meant she was dealing with a first year. "Some are more considerate than others on getting lost during your first few weeks." A nod followed, not yet lending an offer to help but seeming inclined to do so. If anything, one could simply follow Lea out of the library and hopefully find their way from there. "Estelle." She repeated, before adding on. "I'm Lea. Is.. it just a matter of getting out of the library or back to your common room?" Both were doable, but the common room required more stairs and potentially being out after curfew herself unless the stairs were nice.
What she hadn't expected was another person to enter the conversation, taking a bit of a step back as the other approached. Our dorm meant they were both in the same house and likely the same year, a hand reaching up to toy with her braid as she listened. "Do- you know your way back then?" The question was directed towards the newly introduced Linda, wondering if Lea could pass Estelle over to her or if she'd need to guide them both.
