10th April - does that work?
It was time. A mysterious sign up sheet appeared onto the noticeboard a few days ago, in need of eight players for a 4 vs 4 match. The moderator was none other than Duvessa Ember, the first year Slytherin who had a passion for dueling.

She quickly split the groups up, trying to make it as even as possible. In the end, Cash, Mell, Lucian and Ash had been for the first team and Donald, Lea, Raizel and Rebecca went to the second. She was pleased to say that a few elder years had been interested - Cash who she had met in the corridors and had a pleasent chat and a few others who she had never heard of. But this was a perfect time to do so.

The dueling room was airy and large, perfect for the duel. She hoped that there was going to be less injury than most.....

As all players seemed to have arrived, she clapped her hands once and then looked at all of them.
"Team 1 - Cash, Mell, Lucian and Ash, Team 2 - Donald, Lea, Raizel and Rebecca!" She called to announce the teams before taking her wand out just in case, "Let the terror unleash."

I remembered signing up for this duel and the anticipation until this time was next to unbearable! I remembered being the first to sign up and so I don’t know exactly know who else is here. I recall mentioning it to Ash, faintly, but no idea if he has joined or not. I hope so! Imagine we are on the same team? Dream team!

I made my way to the duelling club with a pep in my step and my wand safely in the wand holster strapped around my waist. I asked Kas if she wanted to come watch the match, whether she comes or not it up to her. I really hope she does! I know that I have Colin… but Kas feels like oke of my only real friends in this place. Colin is that cool second year and we are both Werewolves and such… but he’s a second year. He already has his experiences in (and out of) the castle and we don’t even share classes together. Ash… is different; I like him. A lot. But not as a friend. And while that’s going to be hard for me to accept in great deal, I can admit that my feelings for him are very different from the one I feel for Kas, for Colin, for Bai.

I walked in and saw that not many people were here. I saw Duvessa though! “Hey Duv,” I greeted, walking over to her. It seemed she would be the ref! “Anyone else here yet?” I asked, looking around. When everyone had arrived I grinned upon seeing Ash. “You came!” I said… and then I hugged him. It was quick but a hug nonetheless, my mood only increasing as she read the teams out; it appears I was on the same team as the blue eyed boy AS WELL AS the opposing team to the Gryffindork! “I see your cold is gone,” I teased.

Duelling had suddenly become a passion for the young Donald Fish. The next opportunity possible, Donald found himself signing up another random, unofficial fight. The sheet had some detail, but really he didn't care. This would be fun and give him some excuse to practice. A Hufflepuff at heart, Donald was not great at wanting to hurt people, but competition was different. It was more about the challenge and in this format, no one could be angry for him using allowed spells. So he hoped,He real at least.

When he arrived at the club at the designated time, he noticed the moderator was there getting teams split up. He really couldn't say if he knew anyone here, but what a way to meet people. The teams seemed fair enough from a glance at least. No one seemed to have a huge year advantage or numbers or anything. Donald couldn't know their skills though so he only hoped it wouldn't be a thrashing against himself.

"Hey all, I'm Donald." He'd greet casually, smiling a bit weakly at those present. "Good luck. This should be lots of fun."

With that all said, Donald would make sure to approach the designated area for his team and try to line up early. A mix of nerves and anxious preparation pushing him to ready up. His wand was double checked, he thought over some good spells allowed in duelling, and waited for the rest of the team to show up.

It had been some time since Lea had properly dueled. Not that a 4 versus 4 or an unofficial duel was proper, but it was the closest thing the Third Year could get outside of joining the dueling team. She had hesitated in signing up. The first part of the year consisted of vanishing from most social activities and 8 other people was a sizeable group in Lea's mind but since disappearing hadn't solved any problems... a duel seemed like a fun opportunity to reintroduce herself and meet some others also interested in the sport. She had nodded as her name found its way onto the parchment, a physical agreement to her mental conversation.

And now the date finally arrived. Lea brushed the sleeves of her uniform and played with her bangs before entering the room, both worried over presentation and just something to take her mind off of meeting new people. Fingers itched to play with her hair more, but the brown strands were stuck in two tight braids that flowed over her shoulders. Changes now would just make it look messy. A deep breath and the girl slipped into the room, a quick skim of the room relieving some of her worries. She wasn't late and there weren't that many people yet.

Her first task was to find the organizer, blinking as she realized that the organizer was younger than her. Oh. It'd probably be fine she decided, offering a small smile to the Slytherin. "Thank you for setting this up." And with a nod, Lea took a quick step back before finding someplace else to stand as she waited for the others. Donald was the first to introduce himself, Lea unable to hide some of her confusion as she looked at him. While he seemed older, the face was unfamiliar- surely she should have seen him at least once wandering the corridors? Perhaps, she decided, he was just tall for his age. "It should be," she echoed with a small nod.

Intriguing. That was all she thought of as soon as she saw this sign up sheet for this interesting 4v4 duel. Anything that's related to duel, Raizel would gladly check it out and with her still in the waitlist, it'd be best to get a lot of experience as much as possible for her own growth as a duelist when the time comes. Without any second thoughts, she signed up and waited for the day.

Once the day came, she made her way to the dueling club and she won't lie, she is nervous about this, on who she will be facing, who she will be teamed up with. Would there be older students? Perhaps. While facing off against people with better experience unnerves her, she can't help but feel excited about it. Opening those doors, she found a couple of familiar faces which she was glad for as she made her way to stand where the others were. The teams were announced and heck, she always seems to find herself facing off against the Ravenclaw, Ashley Montez. Was there any game where they didn't fight against each other? Lucian seems to be here as well which is nice. Looks like the boy had taken a liking to dueling.

"Yo, Mornstern, how's it going?" She greeted with a smile on her face, giving Ashley a friendly nod of acknowledgement and then to Donald who just introduced himself. There were a couple of new faces, no, she must've at least seen them once inside the castle but she just couldn't remember. Still, she turned to look at them with a friendly smile. Lea though, she's familiar with her. She had volunteered to show her the ropes of Dueling before. Raizel stood where her team was, pulling out her wand from her pocket and ready to get this duel started.

The thing about Duelling is for the young Ironwoods, they could not escape it no matter how hard they tried. Cash had made a promise to themselves that they will stay away from anything related to Duelling after the loss they felt and yet the room and its surroundings beckon them to take part in it. It was like Duelling running in their blood and vein or something.

Sure the Slytherin is a Duelling Co-Captain for their house but it was just a title. Cash helped both Collins and Ming to dish out strategies on the sideline but Cash themselves was not a Duellist. Cash's heart is and always will be set on Quidditch. But then again when a mysterious signup sheet was attached on the notice board and the said parchment looking for a player to play for a 4v4 Duellng match, the Cloud Cobras Beater could not help themselves to sign up.

Funny how the universe plays tricks on them. And when the day finally came, Cash marched down to the room that is familiar to them. Although Cash was not an official Duellist, being one of the Co-Captain for Viridian Vipers, they had been acquainted nicely with the room. Wearing a dark green polo shirt, gold brown short pants, and matching shoe color to boot Cash walks confidently to the room.

A vintage arrow necklace hanging around their neck. Without realizing it, their trusted black and yellow Emerald Gazer snake, Aero, trailed behind them. Sometimes the snake could be more stubborn than any young student the former Prefect of Slytherin ever met. Once they stepped inside the room, Cash's green eyes scanned the people who already arrived before them.

Some greet the other with friendly gestures but not Cash. The fourth year was not in the room to socialize. The young socialite had one thing on their mind. Play the game until they got eliminated or when the game finally ended, they will run out of the room like a bat out of a cave. Cash waited for quite a moment until all the people who signup for this thing gather in the room.

The moderator for the match, Duvessa, had called the eight of them and divided Cash alongside seven others into two teams equally. Once Cash know who their teammate is, they walked toward the group of young faces. Some of the faces they are familiar with, some do not. "Alright, team!"They greet the team.

Cash then took out the Captain's armband like the kind football (soccer) players like to wear from the inside one of the pockets of their golden brown short pants. They wore it on their upper left arm. Once the armband was secure, Cash addressed the group. "Since none of you are a Duellist, I took the liberty to be your Captain for the day,"They added on.

Cash's eyes bounced from one person to the next. "Huddle up! This is what we are going to do for the first round,"The young Ironwoods concluded as Cash gathered the other four to hear what Cash will instruct them to do. Let the annihilation begin!

The child with the heart of a duelist made his debut at the duel club, where all matches, official and unofficial, are hosted, not long after Ashley became involved in another duel conflict. Ashley hoped to become the captain of both his houses while duelling in order to further explore his enthusiasm for the sport. Nevertheless, he still had things in his mind and hoped they might materialise at some point.

He quickly became aware of his amusing bunny's presence upon his arrival. Yes, he refers to Lucian as his goofy bunny. Was that ever an actual name? When did that even start to exist? Nah, the boy ought to quit giving people names. In all honesty, it was embarrassing and awful. He changed his potion companion's name to Kay because he was Kierce, and the youngster who pressed him against the wall is now known as "funny bunny." It was embarrassing in some way. Although it had been nice that Lucian had already arrived to the game. He heard the other boy say “You came!”as he approached him. Ashley was immediately intimidated and lost for words. When he first saw the other boy, he strangely experienced a stomach butterfly. He didn't respond, instead blushing in front of him. He offered Ash a short hug, and the latter quickly returned the hug before letting go.

The Ravenclaw kid didn't know anything about the other Donald from Hufflepuff House when he followed and introduced himself. Ashley gave him a warm welcome. Despite the fact that he didn't know much about him, he knew that such meetups might lead to genuine friendships. The lad then saw the presence of both a Gryffindor and an additional Hufflepuff girl. It was enjoyable to watch them in total sincerity, not really knowing what they had but let us to observe their abilities.

Fortunately, the child was surprised to see one of his favourite people at Hogwarts. It was Cash, a former Slytherin prefect and the host of the duel, Duvessa. Cash is one of the most proactive and involved students at Hogwarts, and they appeared to perform exceptionally well. In all honesty, this had been intriguing. Ashley couldn't be more pleased that Cash decided to lead his teammates as captain. Let the games and fun begin, yes? The young Ravenclaw boy immediately pulled out his wand, and he, Lucian, and Cash stood to one side, with Raizel, Lea, and Donald on the other. They were therefore a member of the rival team. But even so, Ashley felt the temptation to do this; what may be called his "duelling demon" started to emerge, and he was ready to lose control. Lucian might not find this awkward, he hoped. Being in a duel situation somehow turned him into a duel manic.

Mellani had recently developed an interest in dueling and hence, when she had seen a poster up for unofficial dueling, she had immediately signed up for it. It hadn't been a very hard decision, although, later on, Mellani found herself thinking too much of it. What if her team lost because of her? What if the spells she cast didn't succeed? Mellani tried not to think about it too much as she entered the room.

Mellani looked around and found Duvessa there. "Hey, thanks for taking the efforts to organize this. I really appreciate it.", Mellani said gratefully. Then she watched as everyone entered the room and Duvessa divided them into two teams. The teams seemed equally divided. Duvessa was really good at this.

Mellani was not familiar with the people in her team. Not really. She looked at Cassandra Ironwoods as she announced herself as the captain of their team. She was the eldest there and hence, was probably also the best choice, also being the Co-Captain of the Slytherin Dueling team.

Mellani huddled up next to her team and listened to the strategy closely. She nodded along when Cassandra told her what her role would be in the duel. She had to say, Cassandra was really good at strategizing. Mellani glanced at the other team. She didn't really know anyone from there either.

Rebecca pushed his way through the heavy oak doors and gave a cursory glance around the room, fashionably almost-late-but-not-quite-so-it's-fine. To be completely honest (which he rarely was, and would hardly start doing it now) he was unfamiliar with this particular part of the castle, and after poking his head into a dozen wrong rooms he'd finally been forced to cave and asked a friendly portrait for directions-- thus making it to the duel at nearly the last possible second.

Most faces here were unknown to Rebecca, the two teams were pairing off and a few bystanders milled around the edges of the room were a smattering of different houses, with only a few of the classmates he could recognize. He did unfortunately spot a familiar pale-faced boy and hid a grimace, covering his reaction with a tight smile. As soon as he heard that Mornstern would be on the opposite team, his smile became considerably more genuine. Now it was doubly important that his team came out victorious, there was no way in Hell that Rebecca would be able to stomach the ego boost Lucian would get over winning.

With that extra incentive in mind, Rebecca grimly turned to face his fellows in arms as they huddled together with whispered plans and strategies.

And the duel began. What did Duvessa expect? Team 1 went first, Ashley cleverely casting Donald on fire. Flames began tickling him and meanwhile Captain Cash casting Fumos, directed at Lea but to be casted over the whole team. Soon, a huge defensive cloud began seeping through, growing bigger by each second. Duvessa shielded her eyes and tried to figure out what they were doing. Their tactic seemed to be going well, for even the moderator couldn't see anything, let alone cast.

Then, Lucian tried to cast Flipendo on the other team, in particularly Raizel. However, she managed to dodge, ending the little stream of good luck for the first team. And finally, Mellani cast Incendio, the ever popular dueling fire spell on Rebecca. Unfortunately she didn't have the same luck as Ashley, and he managed to dodge out of a nick of time. Now for Team 2 actions.

Next, the third year Lea cast the Blindfold spell on Cash, seemingly a clever idea. However, Cash was prepared and they managed to dodge easily. Then, Captain Donald targeted Lucian, but with the huge cloud of smoke, Lucian avoided it with ease. Then, Rebecca decided to follow the same steps and cast Flipendo on the boy. This time, Lucian didn't dodge, the spell hit him squarely as he stumbled back.
"You okay, Mornstern?" Duvessa called as she walked quickly over to him, "No hospital wing yet?" She said not unkindly, with a concerned look. After he seemed to be fine, she walked back to her spot slowly and the duel resumed.

As if this was not enough, or it was just to spite him, Raizel tried hitting him with Flipendo, she missed, presumebly because of the cloud that loomed in front of her. Things were getting fierce.
