Imps + Periculum - Lesson One
"Can someone tell me the differences between an Imp and a Pixie?"
Regina raised her hand proudly as the Professor finished the question, yet her face remained as haughty as it always did. Hearing the Professor calling out her last name, she answered exactly what she'd known even before stepping in her first DADA class.
"Thank you, Professor. The Imp is a magical creature found only in Britain and Ireland. The height of an Imp is considered comparable to that of a pixie, between six to eight inches, but that is where the physical similarities end. The Imp can not fly like the Pixie, nor is it as brightly coloured."
The DADA Professor nodded with a pleased smile, Regina feeling her ego slightly growing bigger. It wasn't a surprised that she was the best at the subject; her parents were talented and skillful Aurors of the Ministry, after all. The moment she bought her The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them books, Regina's nose could be seen glued to the pages as though she was memorizing them all by heart. Aside from Potions, the young witch favoured DADA more than any other subjects and had showed a lot her competitive side on any topic concerning magical creatures or duelling spells by thriving to receive the best grades in her work.
Her older sister obviously had voiced her disagreement, stating that Regina wouldn't learn everything from reading books alone, however the latter knew her true intentions were to hide the fact that Regina was better than her in anything related to DADA. What an embarassment that was for Rebecca Miller.
Regina's violet orchid eyes snapped up towards the Professor when she heard of another question, and just like the first time, her arms were determinately raised up in less than a second.
"I know this one, Professor." She spoke up formally. "While rather unthreatening, an Imp can nonetheless be dispatched rather easily by anyone, by throwing back Wizard Crackers that it throws, or using a Knockback Jinx to daze it, and then caging it, or throwing it into a Gnome hole."
Another correct answer. This was too easy.

Imps + Periculum - Lesson One
Soon, it was time for the Professor to teach them their very first DADA spell, the Red Sparks Spell. Regina turned to the specific page in her book as requested, reading intently as the explanation of the incantation unraveled itself before her purple orchid eyes, a feeling of excitement flowing through every vibe of her body.
The Periculum Spell didn't serve the purpose of duelling, however it was proven to be very crucial in case of potiental deadly danger, and Regina knew that surely she had to start somewhere, since she was aware that she was still at a young age. But that didn't waver her dream to become one of the most powerful Auror and prove her worth to the world, though.
"Periculum...Vermillious..." The raven-haired young noble witch mumbled the incantations loud enough for herself to hear, intrigued by the variation of such a simple spell.
Finally, the Professor requested every one to follow the instructions and try reciting the spell with their wands. Regina took out her aspen dragon heartstring one, feeling more confident than ever.
Granted, a few first try turned out badly. She sighed fustratedly, refusing such a result. She had to succeed this lesson! There was no way she could fail! Composing herself, Regina pointed her wand towards the ceiling once more, closing her eyes slowly. She pictured the image of the spell, feeling the rush of magical energy through her fingers. One last try!
"Periculum!" Regina shouted.
There they were, the beautiful scarlet illuminations that bursted from the tip of her aspen wand! They shot towards the ceiling, sparkling like firecrackers whilst hovering over her head for a long moment before dissapearing completely.
That was the first time Regina had found something so appealing.

Periculum is a charm that allowed the caster to send out red sparks from their wand. The sparks are firework-like in appearance, and had a vast range, shooting up to a great height, then hovering in the spot where the caster aimed. Much like a Muggle flare gun, the spell is used to signal that one was in danger, and thus in need of help.
This spell may be related to Vermillious, a spell which seems to also produce red sparks. Periculum may also be a variation of Green Sparks and Red Sparks.
