Incendio - Lesson One
"Phew, made it...Such a hassle to walk all the way here just for some plants." The orchid-eyed girl huffed, muttering under her breath as she gazed upon the immense greenhouse that was her supposed Herbology classroom. This had better be worthed.
Regina inhaled deeply to regain her usual calm and cold demaneor, before pushing the glass door open and entered without making a single noise. Standing at an empty spot furthest from the other students, she observed the moving and thriving herbs, shrubs and flowers of different types in the surrounding, all the while listening to the Professor presenting the subject passionately. Quite frankly, if it wasn't for her goal to become the best in everything, Regina would have cared less about anything concerning plain gardening. However, in order to surpass the shadow that her siblings' potiental skills casted on her, she had no other choice than to bare with it and pay attention to every word.
Suddenly, as the Professor displayed what was considered one the most dangerous plants ever, the Devil's Snare, Regina was taken aback as she stood defensively three feet away from its threatening and contrictive tentacles, her mind filled with confusion. All of the students wore the same expression, some even instictively pointed out their wands. The Professor only calmed them down, explaining that they were about to be taught a very useful spell. Regina's head snapped up, all underrated thoughts towards the subject vanished as a new feeling of interest settled in.
"A spell in Herbology class? Interesting..."
Following the instructions closely, Regina aimed her aspen wood and dragon heartstring wand directly at the menacing plant with a complete change in her demaneor. Repeating the incantation over and over in her head, the raven-haired young witch narrowed her eyes and began reciting the spell outloud determinately.
"Incendio!"
However, nothing happened besides the smallest of sparks shooting out of the tip of the aspen wand, confusing its owner. Regina snapped out of it when one of the tentacles stretched out towards her, attempting to capture its prey. She straightened her pose and took a deep breath before trying once more, her voice in a higher tone.
"Incendio!"
This time, Regina actually felt a strange feeling at the tip of her fingers as the tiniest flicker of flame appeared on one of the tentacles that only lasted for a short second. She was almost there. Taking another deep breath and composing herself, she closed her eyes and didn't concentrated on anything else but the incantation, picturing the spell inside her head. She would succeed. She believed she would.
Regina shouted at the top of her lungs.
"INCENDIO!"
Finally, the Devil's Snare's tentacles were caughter on fire and it immediately recoiled at the painful heat of fire, putting a victorious smile on the young Miller's face. She did it! So this was how it felt to be able to cast a spell for the first time. Her parents would be proud!
