─Personality─

Pre-Hogwarts Reducio Before Mellani joined Hogwarts, she was the sweetest and most caring person anyone could ever know. She looked out for her friends and family and of course, for herself. She moved against any bullies and stood up for herself, never being what most people would call a "complain-box". She was friendly, kind and also a bit aloof. She wasn't scared of anything or anyone and was the best kid anyone could know. Academically too, she was one of the best in her class and could solve any problem requiring absolutely no time. Although she did not accept this, she was indeed very intelligent.	First Year Reducio At first, Mellani is really shy in the new place but, as everything begins, she grows a bit weary of the wizard world, wondering if it's the right place for her. She continues standing up for herself and slowly becomes closed off and lonely. She's still kind and gets Os in every assignment she submits but finding her in the company of someone, looking as happy as one can be with a friend, that's rare. Maybe even impossible. She has dark circles beneath her eyes which depict how long she hasn't slept and how much time she spends wishing that she was home.

Before Hogwarts

Mellani was born in Heywood, England on 12th October, 2010 as the second child to a muggle family of three. She has an elder brother and loving parents. Everyone adored her even though strange things often happened around her.
As Mellani grew up, she came across many people of different kinds although only few of them could be considered her friends. Her friends were supporting, kind, introverted and smart. She spent more time around them than she ever spent around her family. They were the kind of group who never hugged each other but were still as close as could be. They always stuck together and supported each other at every turn in life.
Mellani had two best friends, Olive and Clara. She walked home from school with Lia everyday. Olive was one of her careless friends. Oftentimes, while walking home, Mellani would have to pull Olive back to make sure she didn't get hit or run over on the road. Mellani was very fond of her, so, as she left for Hogwarts, she hoped that Olive would take care of herself. Mellani could only stay with her for so long and, leaving her made Mellani hurt much more than she thought it would.
Mellani's relationship with her brother was like anyone's relation would be with their sibling. They support each other, talk kabout everything to each other and discuss solutions to any and every problem. Of course they fought a little, no, a lot. but they always made up to each other in the end. He was the only one who Mellani told about her first instance of magic.
Once at the age of 10, Mellani was roaming the corridors in her school when she came across two seniors bullying a junior. She yelled at them to stop but the ran to the terrace of the house. When she got there, as soon as they noticed her, they started fighting her. She tried her best to stop them but failed as they accidently pushed her off the terrace. Scared for her life, she yelled but the moment when she reached the ground, she got up and realized that she was actually unhurt. At this point, she felt a great sense of confusion along with joy to knowing that she had actually survived. She looked around self-consciously to make sure no one had seen this. She knew the bullies had but surprisingly, she never came across them again.
After this incident Mellani and her brother were left puzzled for a long time until the day the professor arrived. When the professor revealed the fact that Mellani was a witch, every one of them had different reactions. Her brother smiled at her, glad that she had finally found her place in the world and also a teeny bit jealous, although he did not show it. Her parents maintained their calm outside although they were panicking inside. They accused the professor of being a muggle who wanted to play a prank on them. When the professor proved that he was not indeed playing a prank, they gazed at him, shocked. Mellani stared open-mouthed wondering if this was all a dream. After the professor went, Mellani finally told her parents about her first instance of magic. Her parents stared at her but then decided that sending her to Hogwarts was probably the best solution. And so her journey began.

First Year

The journey in the magical world had officially begun for Mellani. At first, as she got sorted into Slytherin, the house that seemed to have a bad reputation, she wondered how someone could possibly think she was cunning. Maybe the Sorting Hat had malfunctioned.
Slowly but surely, Mellani came to know that Slytherin wasn't supposed to be all cunning. It was a house that consisted of loyal people. Mellani realized that the Sorting Hat hadn't been wrong. She just hadn't known the exact details back then.
Life at Hogwarts was hard for Mellani. She missed going home everyday to meet her parents and friends. Mellani didn't even go home during Christmas and Easter. Maybe it was a way of cutting off from her family. Maybe it was a way of hurting or punishing herself somehow. At any rate, Mellani was being hard on herself. Anyone who knew her would be able to see that.
Mellani's pain started showing only after she got her detention for the first time. She'd been able to hide it till then but, when she finally did get angry, her feeling did show. Mellani got over the detention slowly. Many people got detention. It was okay to be one of them. Mellani tried to forget everything and move on. It was only a detention, nothing more. Besides, it hadn't exactly been all her fault.
Mellani decided to finally go home during the summer vacation. Little did she know what was awaiting her there. It would be something she'd take a lot of time to get over. The detention was nothing in comparison to this. This would be a grief that would send her into what could only be defined as depression. Mellani would probably take a very long time to get over it, if she would get over it. Which there was an almost negligible chance of.
