Mandarin Tutor Attempt? PV Deep Singha Closed

First year student Deep's classes haven't started yet. So he just walk around Hogwart's different corner. The other fellow students seem pretty awesome to him, though, he is unable to make friends still.

As he passed by the courtyard, he felt that he never went to the library. As an adventure lover, Deep started thoughts high about the library. He thought of finding a book that kept all the secrets of Hogwarts. And, the book trying to keep closed in the contrast of Deep trying hard to open it.

Setting aside the fantasies, Deep keep walking towards the library. As he entered into it, he saw a large room filled with books. He never saw this much book. Can he finish all the books before his graduation?.. silly thoughts never left Deep's mind.

He walk around the room, understanding nothing. So he decides to look for a guidance. He saw a senior from Hufflepuff , whom he saw before at The Leaky Cauldron. Deep finally found someone he knows, well, not knows, but saw before. So he can now try to talk with her and ask her for some guidance.

As he approached her, Deep saw that the senior was looking bored and muttering about something in a language that Deep never heard before. He got excited. He want to discover everything, those languages also which he never heard before.

"H- Hi! My name is Deep, I'm first year from Gryffindor! Nice to meet you! How are you? Can I get some guidance? Oh, well, hold that. First, can you tell me what were you saying, it feels like something new! Please!!", Deep says all at once holding his breath, which makes him more weird. He is still excited and wait for the reply.

Rita was just feeling extremely bored after she finished her homework that particular Friday afternoon, murmuring something to herself in Mandarin, casually reading a book she found in library to kill some time before dinner time arrived, and waiting for someone to come when the Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair heard someone saying hi to her. She lifted her hand from the book she was reading, looked around, and found a boy who looked younger than her with brown hair wearing Gryffindor robes asking her some questions. Rita had never met that Gryffindor boy before, so the Second Year Hufflepuff was guessing the boy must be a first year.

The Gryffindor boy introduced himself as Deep, a first name Rita had never heard before but clearly still a less common first name for boys. As Rita guessed, he was a first-year little lion. The boy then greeted the Second Year Hufflepuff and asked her what language she was speaking just now. Clearly, even though the Second Year Hufflepuff was just murmuring to herself, the other boy had heard what she was saying. "Maybe I can teach that young lion some Mandarin if he doesn`t mind, but I honestly don`t know what to teach although I can speak both Mandarin and English fluently, thanks to my Chinese parents. This is the first time that I am actually teaching someone Mandarin if that Gryffindor boy agrees to learn Mandarin from me. Maybe I can start with some key differences between Mandarin and English, such as pronouns, the sentence structure with proposition such as "with, on", and how we call our relatives? I suppose that might be a good starting point?" The Chinese-English Hufflepuff thought for a while, before finally replying to the other Gryffindor boy, "Well, nice to meet you, Deep! Your name is quite good! My name is Rita, and I am a second year Hufflepuff and a first-string beater in the Hufflepuff Quidditch team."

"By the way, in terms of what I just said, I`m just murmuring something in Mandarin. I am just saying I am really bored after I finished my homework, and I want to find someone to chat with. I can teach you some Mandarin if you don`t mind, although this is the first time I teach others this language and I have no idea how to teach others. How about I start by explaining some key differences between Mandarin and English? I hope that works for you." The Second Year Hufflepuff continued to speak, and when Rita finished speaking, she looked at the first year Gryffindor boy who introduced himself as Deep, hoping he did not mind her attempt to teach him Mandarin.

Well. It was the first time for Deep interact with someone in Hogwarts this closely. And all above that, she was his senior. So Deep hesitates a lot and all time trying to keep an eye of what he will say.

"Well, nice to meet you, Deep! Your name is quite good! My name is Rita, and I am a second year Hufflepuff and a first-string beater in the Hufflepuff Quidditch team.", replied the girl. Deep was still hoping if she tell the secrets of the new language she just spoke.

"By the way, in terms of what I just said, I`m just murmuring something in Mandarin. I am just saying I am really bored after I finished my homework, and I want to find someone to chat with. As the girl says those words, Deep's excitement ride to the moon. He never thought he can be accepted in any kind of things. But now it's all happening.

He forgets all his plans, his exploration. "Lemme have a sit!!!", he whisper it loudly forgetting he is talking to his senior. Fortunately, the library still not disturbed yet.

"So, Mandarin you say. What's it's origin? And, don't mind me, please! I get excited a lot often.", Deep take breath, "Yeas I'm eager to learn this language, also my first time to learn a language, so don't panic, I'll make more mistakes than you. Ha ha-", he was trying to be funny in an awkward way.

Mandarin, a mystery. Deep thought. When he first listen its pronunciation from her mouth, it seems very amazing and new to him. As like, exploring a secrets hidden between the secrets. Deep can't wait to enlighten by Rita, his fellow Hufflepuff senior.

Rita listened carefully with a friendly smile as the other Gryffindor boy with short curly brown hair get excited and continued to speak. The Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair was glad that the First Year Gryffindor named Deep was glad to learn some Mandarin from her. Even though Rita was sure she was definitely one of the worst Mandarin tutors in this world, but at least the other boy could have some small talk with someone in the library to kill some time in this particular Friday afternoon after a day of busy class and finishing her homework and before dinner time arrived. "Yeah, finally someone to have a talk with, small talks are probably seen as meaningless by many people, but they are a great way to kill some time for dinner and they can be actually quite fun. One of my favorite activities to kill some time." The Second Year Hufflepuff thought before reply to the other Gryffindor boy still with a warm smile, "Yeah, you can have a seat here, it`s just a spare seat."

"It`s OK, I also get excited from time to time! Just please remember to keep your voice low. There are people studying and reading quietly in the library." The Second Year Hufflepuff continued to speak, "In terms of Mandarin, it is mainly in China in east Asia, where my parents are from, although areas in Southeast Asia like Singapore also uses this language. Yeah, my parents immigrated here in UK before I was born, and they taught me Mandarin besides English."

"So, what part of Mandarin do you wanna study? I think it takes years to master a language. Let me just start on a very simple point. In Mandarin, you don`t have to worry about pronouns when speaking. All the he/him, she/her, he/they, she/they, they/them is just TA, and when you don`t know what pronoun they use, just use TA. Easy, right?" When Rita finished speaking, she turned the other Gryffindor boy named Deep with a kind smile, hoping the other boy understood what she was saying, and waited for the other boy to respond.

Deep nodded as she request to keep the voice low.

So the language originated in China. Deep thought. China is a part of Asia, the biggest continent, he learned that from the muggle world.

Obviously every country have their own language, also China. And it's called Mandarin. Seems pretty easy to learn, but confusing at the same time. As Deep only knows English, so it will take him some time to learn Mandarin properly, but he will try.

Meanwhile Deep totally forget about his aim for heading this way. The language is enough to make him excited and amazed.

"TA?", Deep trying said the word, as she teaching him that moment. A single word we can refer to everyone?! That's amazing and feels impossible. But it is possible! Deep never imagined that.

It's easy. Actually, it's very easy! Deep's got more interest in this. He want to learn more from her. He smiled and said, "Teach me more!!!"

What else can be better from this. Hogwarts is pretty awesome place and it's peoples are fabulous. Now Deep can experience it by himself. No more need of stories. Now he lives within the stories.

As Deep thought this in a single moment, Rita prepare her lessons to teach him. Deep adjust his seat, lean forward, waiting to be enlighten.

Rita was glad that she started with a very simple topic. The Gryffindor boy clearly understood this topic by hand and asked the Second Year Hufflepuff with a smile to teach him more. This was the first time the Chinese-British Second Year Hufflepuff had actually taught a total beginner Mandarin, and she thought it was just too boring to start with the greeting words and the numbers, so she decided to move on the second difference between Mandarin and English, the sentence structure of sentences involving proposition phrases. She understood the Mandarin sentences she was going to teach was going to different to completely digest with a total beginner without knowledge of those actual characters, but she just wanted to put forward this concept.

"Glad to know that you understand the first very simple concept and are willing to learn more about Mandarin from me, so I am going to introduce the second difference between Mandarin and English, the sentence structures." The Black-haired Second Year Hufflepuff, now taking on the job of a temporary Mandarin tutor, finally began to speak with a lot very loud but slow and clear voice to make sure the other Gryffindor boy understand, "You know, when there is a proposition phrase when we speak in English, we tend to put it in the last place, such as 'Rita is a Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair.' But in Mandarin,we put the proposition phrase in front and link it with 的, pronounced as de, so the whole sentence in Mandarin is Rita 是一个有黑色短发的二年级赫奇帕奇, with the 有黑色短发 meaning with short black hair and 二年级赫奇帕奇 meaning second year Hufflepuff, and do you catch the de linking the two phrases? I know it is nearly impossible for you to memorize the whole sentence in Mandarin, but I just want you to understand the concept, could you try to understand this difference in sentence structure here? I understand this is more difficult than the former difference, and you can feel free to ask any questions if you have any." When Rita finished speaking, the Second Year Hufflepuff looked at the other boy with a friendly smile, hoping that he understands this more difficult concept. She understood this is more difficult than the former point and is absolutely willing to repeat this topic if the other boy struggle to understand this point.

As Rita had expected, Deep found it hard to understand that concept and asked the Second Year Hufflepuff to repeat that thing once again. "Maybe I should not teach him that concept that early, before he has learned how to say the objects in Mandarin. Oh, gosh, I really am a terrible Mandarin teacher and I feel bad about that. Maybe I should change my way of teaching." Feeling a bit bad about herself and trying her best to come up with a better idea, the Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair thought. After thinking for quite a while, the Second Year Hufflepuff finally came up with an idea that she believed that could helped the other Gryffindor to better master the language.

"Oh, I have an idea. Maybe I should take my temporary Mandarin student outside to the courtyard or somewhere like that for a relaxing stroll and I can tell him the name of these objects in Mandarin as we walk by different objects outside, such as the trees and the great lake. I think that may work better than I simply telling him some concepts about the difference between Mandarin and English. Oh, I am so proud of myself for coming up with this better idea!" After Rita coming up with a better idea, the Second Year Hufflepuff with short black hair finally replied to the other Gryffindor boy with short curly brown hair named Deep, "Sorry, I should not teach you this concept that early. You are fine, it`s my problem, I`m very sorry. I know I am definitely far from being a good Mandarin teacher. How about we go outside to the great lake or somewhere near that and we can learn the Mandarin of those plants and other objects as we take a stroll? I think that would work better, would you agree to do that?" After Rita finished replying to the other Gryffindor boy, the Second Year Hufflepuff turned to the boy with a friendly smile, hoping the other boy would not mind taking a stroll in the outdoor areas of Hogwarts and learn while admiring the beautiful scenery and chilling out.
