Throughout the last few weeks, Beatrice couldn't get her mind of Rani. They had met several times after sitting together at the Great Lake. Whether it was in Class or in the Corridors.

Sometimes they sat next to each other in Class, one time they were Potion partners, another time they spent hours studying together in the library. They spent a lot of time together, whether it was unintentionally or not. The problem with this whole thing was, that Beatrice now couldn't think whenever Rani was around.

It seemed like all her thoughts were just blown out of her head whenever she saw the girl. In Potions, Beatrice accidentally ruined the whole thing because she wasn't paying attention and put to much of an Ingredient. Another time, she ran right into a wall because her thoughts and eyes were directed at her friend.

Things like this had happened all throughout the past weeks and Beatrice hated it. She didn't like confusion when it came to feelings and she had never felt anything like what she felt when she was with Rani. She didn't even know it was possible to feel so pulled towards another person. All she wanted to do was spend time with Rani and maybe hold her hand from time to time. Whenever their hands accidentally touched or Rani hugged her as a welcome, Beatrice's cheeks flushed red.

Last night she couldn't sleep, her feelings were way to much and she just couldn't seem to get tired. Not only did Rani confuse Beatrice but when she couldn't sleep yesterday, she decided to draw, with no real intention to draw anything in particular. Then she drew Rani.

Now she was sitting in the Great Hall at the Slytherin table, clutching her Journal. Her knuckles were becoming white as she stared at Rani, who was sitting at the Ravenclaw table, doing her homework.

The fall ball was coming up and Beatrice had been hesitating to ask Rani to go with her. As friends of course. Most of the time she tried to ignore how her heart skipped a beat when she talked to the other girl. They had become quite good friends and it's not weird to asks a friend to go to the ball, right?

She took another deep breath, standing up and climbing over the bench to walk along the table. Beatrice slowly made her way over to the other girl, telling herself to just act normal.

She sat down on the opposite side of Rani, who was so occupied with her homework that she didn't even notice Beatrice.

»Hello!« Beatrice said, which made Rani look up from her homework. Beatrice smiled at her Friend.

»I wanted to ask, are you going to the fall ball?« her words left her lips quickly as she stared at Rani. »Because I-« she stopped herself.

Then Beatrice looked into her Journal, trying to find the page she drew of Rani. »I wanted to show you something.« She told her, carefully laying the open Book in front of her friend.

She bit her lip, trying to make out Rani's expression. She took all her bravery and decided to ask now. It wouldn't be too weird, right?

»Uh, do you want to go the ball with me?« She blurted out. »I mean as friends.« She quickly said afterwards, mentally slapping her hand against her forehead. Merlin Beatrice, you are such a weirdo. Beatrice awaited Rani's answer, biting her lip and staring at the drawing that was now laying open on the table.

Rani's quill scratched on the parchment while her eyes were glued to the textbook. She was sitting at the Ravenclaw table, working on her essay for History of Magic. She was kinda in a hurry since she was a little behind with her homework. Dipping her quill in ink again, Rani quickly scanned her writing. She had to squint a little in order to read it, but despite that, her handwriting had improved a lot since the beginning of the year. She placed her quill on the parchment again, getting ready to write the next paragraph, when she suddenly saw something - or someone - approach her from the corner of her eye.

"Hello!" a familiar voice said. Rani looked up from her work, and her eyes lit up when she saw the smiling face of Beatrice, who sat in front of her. She put down her quill and pushed her textbook and parchment out of the way.

"Hi!" She happily greeted back.

"I wanted to ask, are you going to the fall ball?" Beatrice stared at Rani, she looked nervous. "Because I-" she stopped for a moment, and looked into her journal, seeming to search for something. "I wanted to show you something." She laid the book on the table in front of Rani. Immediately, Rani's heart skipped a beat and she could feel her cheeks flush red. On the open page, she recognized herself. It was a drawing of herself. A beautiful drawing. Did Beatrice make this?

Rani looked back at Beatrice, smiling, but her friend nervously bit her lip. "Uh, do you want to go to the ball with me?" She blurted out. "I mean as friends."
Rani's eyes widened and she blinked a few times.

"Wait, really?" Her voice was shaking slightly, but she tried to stay calm as she didn't want to seem weirdly enthusiastic. "I mean, you want to go to the ball? With me?" She couldn't believe what she'd just heard. "Of course I'd love to go with you, Beatrice!" she continued, "Um, as friends of course. This will be so much fun!" Rani had forgotten all about her homework, as the only thing she could think about was the ball. She hadn't even really thought about it before this day, but now she was all excited.
