What Lurks Beneath? PV Rita Su Complete

"Oh!" Daphne yelped softly, not expecting for there to be another person here as well. If it weren't for her warning which made her sit up, she would've fell into the ice cold water for sure. She let out a sigh of relief and naturally messed with her hair, curling a strand of it around her finger due to nerves. This girl seemed like she meant well though, perhaps she'd end up making a friend? "Thank you. I supposed I got a little scared away thinking that I'd be able to see some sort of rare creature in these waters." She giggled from the thought. "My name is Daphne Sapphirus! I am a first year-second Hufflepuff in my family!" She said proudly, her House was something that she really was grateful about. No hate to Gryffindors but she was no where near as confident or prideful as them. "You see, my father works with dragons all the time and I wish to be able to meet such cool creatures like him. Sure, I have a Hippogriff at home but anyone can get one-if I could just find something worthwhile perhaps then I'll know if I'm worthy to be a magizoologist one day!" Daphne claimed.

Oh? She was actually interested in what she had to say? Daphne was afraid that she had scared Rita off for a moment there. "Yep! My hippogriff's name is Truffles, my father saved him from some trophy hunters a while back. He was the only one left surviving in his litter." Daphne explained. "I can't wait until third year for Care of Magical Creatures but considering I get to hear my father's experiences with creatures at home all the time, I'm not too impatient." She reached over to her satchel to take out a book, handing it to her. "I borrowed this from the library, it's called Dragon Species of Great Britain and Ireland. My father has worked with almost every dragon in the book! Like the Chinese Fireball and Hungarian Horntail. I know he's having fun but I do miss him. However, if I were in his position, I'd probably stay and be a dragon keeper. But I know he loves us, when my mother was pregnant with me he stayed home for the entire year despite traveling being his passion." Daphne smiled from the thought. She hoped that one day she could find someone as kind and passionate. "Oh! But I also love nature, traveling...hmm...well, I guess all I study about is animals really."

Rita talked a lot, she was just like her! Daphne had heard some rumors on how the older years made fun or bullied first years. However, she had nothing but good experiences with the older years. Sure, she may have not met third or fourth or the rest of the years yet but she didn't feel intimidated. It was only a one year difference anyway, she didn't see why they would try to make fun of the first years. "Don't worry, Rita! I talk a lot too, nobody ever mentions it though. I just feel like I though, I can see people's faces when I just keep talking and talking, you know?" Her cheeks flushed a bit as she was called special, it being obvious that it meant a lot to her. "Well, there's all sorts of animals. Magical, non magical, ones from the muggle world. Are you a muggleborn? Actually, you don't have to answer that if you don't feel comfortable." Daphne chuckled. She herself wasn't open about being a half breed so she tried not to mention anything about blood statuses. She was having so much fun now that she had forgotten though. "They are quite easy to tell! Like there's the normal snake and then there's a basilisk, the biggest serpent ever!" She stood up and rose up her arms to exaggerate. "King of Serpents! All snakes bow to the beasts! Well, I don't really consider them beasts because they can't control their nature but..yeah!"

"Oh, I truly did not mean any offense! I just meant that I believe the muggle world is pretty cool. There are ones found there like dolphins and tigers and stuff. It's kind of funny when you think about it, all of the head mascots are 'muggle animals'. Lion, eagle, snake and badgers. Some other schools have mascots exclusive to the wizarding world like-like thunderbirds!" Daphne had read about it in a book once. Before she could continue, she felt her stomach begin to rumble. Well, it looked like it was about to be time for dinner, and the edges of the robe that were damp from the water previously were dry by now. "Well, we can always talk about things at the Great Hall, right? That is if you don't mind me sitting with you!" She grinned. "I don't really have anyone else to sit with..if that's alright with you." Daphne got her things, ready to leave if she was as well. "I'd love to be your friend! Some don't think first years and older years can't be friends, but I know that's not true." She looked up at the setting sun, admiring the sky that was multiple shades of orange and yellow.
