Maximo has a pair of dark brown eyes and deep tan skin. His black fluffy hair is often a flat top style. He is currently about 159 cm tall and has an athletic build that shows how healthy his lifestyle is. He likes sporty clothes that are practical and comfortable to wear around.

Personality:

Maximo is a fun-loving, easy-going, and energetic 11 years-old Colombian boy. He is very sociable and charismatic in his own way. Often displays a cheerful and friendly attitude towards strangers. Maximo has a great passion for music since he was little, so when he is in a good mood, he will sometimes sing Spanish songs, do a little dance or play his tiple. However, when Maximo is under pressure, he will try to hide his fear or insecurities under his cheerful demeanor, not wanting to worry the people he cares around him, especially his family. He also has a habit of making jokes whenever he is in awkward situations as a sort of tension breaker, or use it as a way to cheer up those who are in a sad mood. At home, Maximo likes to play silly pranks on his younger siblings and sometimes on his father, just to tease them out of fun. While mischievous, his antics are harmless and are simply playful in nature.

History:

Maximo Duque-Hernández, short for Max or Maxi, was born and raised in Cartagena, a lively town in Colombia. He is the eldest child of the Hernández family, born to a squib father, Alejandro Duque and half-blood mother, Salomé Hernández. His father, Alejandro, weren't on good terms with his pure-blood family due to being born a squib, which made him the "Black Sheep" of his family. But despite being born with no magic, his father is a very optimistic man and still proud of who he is. After Alejandro married the kind-hearted Salomé, he decided to cut ties with his family and lived with his wife's family. And the couple agreed that their children would take both of their surnames. Alejandro currently works as a chef at a local restaurant in their hometown, making delicious Colombian dishes and desserts. Most people could guess who is the one in charge of cooking meals at home. While, Salomé is a respected community healer, who dedicated to her career, always helps the magical townsfolk with their health problems and injuries. Maximo himself is the big brother to his three younger annoying siblings, Luciana (8), Bruno (6) and Antonella (4). All children in the Hernández family are homeschooled by their grandpa, a retired pure-blood Magizoologist. And their grandma is just a Muggle old lady who loves sewing and embroidery. She would often make traditional Colombian desserts for her grandchildren.

Living in a big, chaotic and lively family, Maximo’s childhood was never boring. There were bad times when they would argue about all kinds of trivial things or creating messes, but there were also good times when they help and support each other. For them, family would always be their top priority. His parents were never the strict type and preferred to let their kids have the freedom to express themselves and do what they are good at, but that didn’t mean they would spoil the kids. They would scold them when they did something wrong.

Colombia is very well-known to be a country with plenty of festivals and musical traditions. And maybe due to the influence of the culture, Maximo showed great interest and passion in music since he was little and happened to be talented in playing Colombian instruments. His parents were very happy about his talent in music that they gifted him a Colombian tiple on his sixth birthday, so he could play it anytime, and anywhere he wanted. During his free time, Maximo would go outside and do music performance on the street. It was not only as a form of self-expression, but also to lighten up the townsfolk’ mood.

First instance of magic:

When Maximo’s youngest sister, Antonella, was born. For some unknown reason, she kept crying non-stop. His parents and grandparents tried everything to comfort the newborn baby girl, but nothing worked so far, and at that point they didn’t know what to do. The curious 7 years old Maximo couldn’t sleep because of the cries of his youngest sibling. Slightly worried, he entered the nursery room to check on Antonella. He then thought of an idea, and believed that singing a happy song might help the baby to cheer up and so, the little Maximo began to sing beside Antonella’s crib. While singing, the tiple that was lying on the floor not far from the room suddenly came to life. The instrument seemed to respond to Maximo’s up-beat emotion and began to float towards them, then started to play the music itself. His parents heard the music was coming from the nursery room. They quickly rushed in and were surprised by what they saw. Their son singing, a floating tiple playing music, and their baby laughing joyfully at the performance.

Four years later, the 11 years old Maximo received his acceptance letter from Castelobruxo. His family were overjoyed that they held a huge celebration party for Maximo and invited almost all the wizarding friends to come congratulate him.
