Even though it didn't show on her expression, Regina felt completely elated after standing up to her unloving father for the very first time. She'd left him angry and unable to retaliate at the platform before boarding the train. She had a feeling this was going to be an eventful year, indeed. In a good way.

Athena hooted enthusiastically in her cage, as though she understood Regina's emotions. The witch smiled reached out a free hand to lightly scratch the owl's head through the bars with a single finger. She could always count on her loyal familiar to make her mood brighter.

Regina's siblings had already headed off to a compartment filled with their Slytherin entourages, so she purposefully headed in the opposite direction. Not that she'd admit it out loud, but she was hoping to see some familiar faces and sit with them for the duration of the journey to Scotland. How the times had changed so quickly - just last year Regina still convinced herself she needn't companions and always sat alone. Now she had actual people who would be glad to see her. Friendship still remained a foreign concept to her, but Regina was nothing if not zealous. She would learn to socialise a bit more, if only to the people who'd earned her trust and got through her defensive barrier.

The Gryffindor's steps came to a halt when she spotted at last the people she was looking for - all of them younger than her by a year, but the only ones she'd allowed herself to become close with. They deserved a kinder, less cynical side of Regina, and rightfully so after looking past her prickly exterior and accepted her into their group. She slid the door open as the chatter died down at her entrance.

"Quite a tight fit, it is," She commented. "I hope you've got room for one more, still."

Summer was over.

It was time for a new semester to begin for all of them. And yet, Kim couldn't think about any of that.

For the first time in his life he didn't know how he was feeling right now. It was strange. A strange feeling inside. Kim's head felt muddled and he couldn't think straight and it was all due to that incident. The one that had taken place directly after the last summer games had ended. It had messed him up and led to him agreeing to something he probably shouldn't have agreed to. But then again, he probably would have agreed regardless to this particular request. It had come from that person. He couldn't say no to them. Well, he could but didn't have a reason to reject.

Not to mention the fact that she'd cried while begging him, as a result Kim hadn't felt as if he could say no to her.

Of course, now there were two things to puzzle about. Well, no. Only one thing to puzzle about. The other thing he just had to figure out what to do. Now that he'd gotten himself into this mess. But at the same time, Kim's mind kept going back to the first thing, the thing that was throwing him off balance. The thing that was disorienting him all the time. The thing he couldn't quite grasp in his mind. There was only one question in his mind right now. What did it mean? As usual the train was bustling with people. Kim would normally be wary during this time, a popular time.

That is, when it came to boarding the train.

If he wasn't early, he'd wait until the majority of people had gone on and then get on himself later.

But he wasn't thinking and waited in line to board the train with lots of other people. Oddly enough, his social anxiety didn't kick in at the moment. In fact, Kim had been so distracted that he'd almost forgotten to change his hair color but had remembered yesterday night to do it. Instead of the black hair he'd sported for the entire month, it was now a pure white color. Moving automatically through the crowds as his mind was elsewhere, Kim ended up nearly running into someone ahead of him. He looked up to see a familiar face. "Gia." The boy murmured to her.

A faint twitch of his lips could be seen as he tried to smile but kind of failed at it. Kim glanced into the compartment to see two people already there, Pax and Gem. Thankfully, neither were near the window. Kim entered the small space and took one of the window seats. Getting fresh air was essential in his mind as the train ride was a long one. He inclined his head to Pax and Gem and then looked out the window, remaining silent for the most part. Usually he would have greeted them with his trademark 'Yo' but this time he'd opted for just a nod in their general direction.

Kim's belongings had been stored elsewhere this time, as he hadn't felt like lugging them around with him.

Puffie hadn't allowed him to leave him though and was riding on top of his left shoulder, a pink ball of fur looking like it was stuck to him. He lifted his face inside his fur and smiled at the inhabitants, giving a squeak to them.

"An' have ye brought all your schoolbooks?"

"All of 'em, Mamaw," Sophia promised, eager to just get to the train. It was hard enough guiding her grandma into platform 9 3/4, and now she was going to be late if she didn't hurry up. Still, she did miss her grandma, so the least she could do was let the old woman dote on her a bit.

She definitely needed some normalcy after the eventful summer camp, that was for sure.

"An' your dress in case theres anot'er Ball, eh?"

"Yep, got everything here in my trunk!" she said, patting the lid of her trunk confidently.

"Well fergive an ol' woman her right te worry about 'er granddaughter, will ya?"

Sophia grinned and gave her grandma a big hug. She really would miss the woman, even if she was excited to go back to Hogwarts. All of her best friends were there. Her only friends. Plus, well, someone else.

She blushed at the thought, thoroughly embarrassed at what had happened just a few days ago. Her grandma helped her to load her trunk, ignoring her clear sign of embarrassment. The old woman was probably used to seeing Sophia flustered, given how much she'd gushed about certain people at Hogwarts every chance she got.

As they loaded her trunk up, the other students were piling into the train, and Sophia really needed to hurry if she was going to get a good compartment. Especially if she wanted one with her friends. Still, she could spare a moment for a proper goodbye, right?

"Look, Mamaw, I know I've been busy with my friends a lot, but I love you, okay?" she said, having learned long ago the importance of telling her loved ones how she felt. You never knew when you would lose the chance forever, after all.

She wrapped her arms around the woman's waist, squeezing tight.

"Ah, Sophia, ye remind me more o' yer mother every day. I swear. Have fun at yer little school," she said with a fond smile as she returned the hug. As they pulled apart, her grandma smiled and gave her a light pat on the back. Then she chided Sophia playfully. "But not too much fun! I expect ye to be good!"

Sophia smile and had to fight the happy tears that threatened to fall. She loved her grandma so much.

She reached into her purse and gently jostled Amelia. She knew it was the owl's bedtime, but she owed Mamaw a proper goodbye, too. After Amelia grumpily woke up and gave Gramma Collins an affectionate nuzzle, Sophia waved goodbye to her grandma and ran to catch the train, just in time.

With Amelia on her shoulder, Sophia raced through the corridor on the train, peeking in each compartment and looking for familiar faces. After a few compartments, she decided to give her Heelys a try, to speed things up a bit. She picked up enough speed that Amelia took off to fly by her side. Now this was how witches were meant to travel!

Suddenly she caught a familiar figure entering a nearby compartment. It was Kim, and in Sophia's excitement to see the boy, she hardly noticed that she'd turned her Heelys toward the compartment. Unfortunately, while she was decent with the Heelys, she wasn't an expert at stopping, and before she knew it, she found herself quickly approaching another person.

"...ope you've got room for one more, still."

Through sheer, dumb luck, Sophia managed to twist just right to avoid hitting the other student, but she still found the ceiling getting just a bit farther away. She was certainly falling.

Well, good start to your second year, Soph, she thought to herself. Maybe she'd be lucky and the head injury would be minor?

She closed her eyes and braced herself for an impact that never came. Instead, to her horror and elation, it was like the Blossom Ball all over again. She found herself being caught by a pair of strong, smooth arms.

Sophia reluctantly opened her eyes, deciding that she would just get off the train and go back to being a muggle forever if it was Kim. She couldn't handle that embarrassment again. Last time he'd caught her like this, she'd caught feelings. Who knew what would happen this time?

A pair of eyes came into view, but they weren't the familiar pair of blue eyes he'd expected. No. They were... violet? Purple? It was hard to put to words, but it looked unnatural. Beautifully unnatural. This wasn't Kim. Not at all. So who'd caught her?

Sophia looked away from the eyes with great effort and finally realized why it wasn't Kim.

It was Regina.

"Er, h-hi. Thank you?" she said, wincing as her voice pitched upward at the end. Amelia was flittering just behind Regina's head, watching Sophia like she was a complete idiot.

She didn't realize she was still in the girl's arms, dangerously at her mercy.

The door slid shut, and with it went the busy sounds of the station. Gone was the deafening hum of countless voices, of numerous thundering feet. The sharp smell of smoke and the bitter sting of the cold vanished, and in its place was the interior of the train-- the muffled chattering of students, hoots of owls, and-- oh, this was lovely-- the faint scent of sweets.

Gem laughed aloud. It was good to be back.
Mr. Mistoffelees meowed impatiently. His owner snapped out of her daze and gave him a loving kiss. "You're right! We should go find our friends. Meet up at school then, Cath?"
Her older sister turned to her, a scowl scrawled across her features. "School. You know I have my O.W.L s this year? Sounds like my own personal hell."

"Oh, come on, you'll do just fine." Gem soothed. "Just focus on your studies, avoid setting things on fire, and you'll pass for sure!" Cath sighed and gave her a flippant nod.
"Besides," Gem continued, "They're not until the end of the year. Surely, you can survive for that long."
Her sister brightened and puffed out her chest. "I guess you're right." She shouldered her bag and clapped Gem on the back. "Later, mate."
Then she was off down the train corridor, the spring back in her step.

Gem set off in the opposite direction, peering into every compartment, searching for a familiar face. Finally, she spotted a certain Gryffindor sitting alone. Grinning, she slid open the door.
"Pax!" she exclaimed. Gem carefully closed the door behind her, before sitting across from her friend. Misto wriggled out of her arms and sauntered over to perch on the windowsill.

Just then, the compartment door swished back open, and the ever sophisticated Regina Miller entered. "Quite a tight fit, it is," she drawled. "I hope you've got room for one more, still."
Gem hesitantly waved. She still wasn't sure what to think about this girl. There was certainly more to her than met the eye, and she'd proven herself to not be a complete prat, but Gem still felt a bit shy around her.

Still, she managed to smile warmly at Regina. "Of course we do; please make yourself at home." There! Hopefully that would stave off any potential awkward situations. Gem cleared her throat, and opened her bag, which was overflowing with snacks. They'd stocked up at an H-Mart near the station, and she had plans to share with everyone. But before she could call attention to her bounty, Sophia Nelson toppled through the doorway.

Gem rose to her feet as her friend fell gracefully through the air--
--Only for Regina to catch Sophia in her arms.

Oh. Now this was interesting.
Bemused, Gem sat back down as the two kind of just... stood there. Sophia squeaked her thanks, but neither girl moved from the precarious position. They simply stared, enthralled, into each other's eyes.

Gem popped a hi-chew into her mouth. She chewed slowly, watching the scene unfold. She had a slight inkling as to what was happening, but she wanted to be sure.

The train hadn't moved yet but should very soon.

Perhaps it was waiting for the last of the stragglers to get on board before the Express decided to take off.

Kim had only just gotten settled at his window seat when Sophia entered the compartment. However, she couldn't enter normally and had to make quite an entrance. On a normal day, Kim would have glanced over and given his trademark greeting to her. But as it was, he was quite distracted at the moment, staring out the window, and didn't even hear the compartment door slide open. Puffie greeted her with an energetic squeak, his bright eyes locked on the blue haired girl. As she fell into the area, Regina managed to catch her in her arms before she could hit the floor.

The puff squeaked again and bounced up and down on Kim's shoulder. This made him blink and glance over at the two. He raised a brow, letting his blue eyes flicker over the two. "You make quite a couple." Kim remarked, half-teasing them. Yes, he was trying his best to act as if everything was fine with him. The last thing he needed was to have someone ask if there was anything wrong with him. It wasn't as if he could explain what he was feeling right now. And then... something happened. A furry nose popped up a short distance away from his face. It wasn't Puffie.

Sneeze. Sneeze. Sneeze.

Kim suddenly broke out into a flurry of sneezes. Worse than he'd ever had before in the presence of others.

Probably because he'd taken care to never get too close to cats during his first year at Hogwarts. Well, unless he'd taken a potion beforehand. But this time he'd left his potions inside his satchel which was stored elsewhere. After all, he hadn't thought he'd need it since he'd be sitting with his friends who didn't have cats. Apparently that had changed recently and he hadn't been aware of this. Kim continued to sneeze and started to regret staying in this compartment. How come Precious hadn't told him beforehand that she'd be bringing a cat with her into the area?!

The priority was to get out of there before he ended up in a bad situation but as it was the compartment was incredibly small and there were a ton of people inside. There was also only one exit and it was currently blocked by both Regina and Sophia. He was boxed in by Pax and Precious too. And that damned cat was still there right beside him against the window too. 'Oh hell...' Kim thought as he continuously sneezed until his vision suddenly darkened and he passed out. If the others hadn't known how severe his allergies were before, they certainly would know now.

At least when he passed out, Kim wasn't sneezing anymore.

Puffie hopped up and down frantically as his owner passed out, falling onto the floor of the compartment and squeaked. He looked over at the culprit, the cat, and squeak-growled at it.

One corner of Regina's lips twitched just barely after Sable's warm but shy greeting, and that was as much of a smile that anybody would ever see from someone like her. Just then, Kim passed right by her and greeted her in a low voice, to which she nodded in return. She was about to follow him in when a loud commotion happened right behind her, sounding like someone's clumsiness was about to be their downfall. By instinct, Regina turned around to see just what kind of dimwit was causing so much noise and only had a millisecond to process a body tripping and falling right towards her before her body acted on its own. If it had been the old her, Regina would have stepped aside with a bored glance and a scoff, letting whoever klutz to face plant on the floor. However, for some Merlin unknown reason, her arms were already out and catching the person - getting a full face of bright blue hair and followed by eyes gazing into her own.

It took quite a bit of time for her brain to catch up with reality, as indignant as she'd admit it, but it was enough time for the occupants of the compartment to regard them with teasing looks. The Gryffindor's surprise melted away in place of a carefully blank face as she held the girl - whom she only now recognised as Nelson from summer camp - up and away after the latter squeezed out a high-pitch bumble.

"No problem," Regina replied a bit colder than she'd intended, but only because she was mildly annoyed at her childhood friend's comment. "And cut it out, Kiki."

The oldest witch of the group was only one foot in when Kim erupted into a series of loud sneezes as though somebody had cursed him with a bad case of Sneezing Hex. Regina watched with bewildered eyes as the boy fainted right afterwards and her protective tendencies kicked in at once. Her black and silver aspen wand slid from under her sleeve into the palm of her right hand, its end pointed at the offending feline as a firm "Wingardium Leviosa" escaped her lips. [d20 : 20] + 8 = 28 --> critical hit

The spell was casted so expertly that the cat was dangled up in the ceiling in a blink of an eye. Regina's brows knitted as she levitated it as far away as possible from Kim, dropping it into the lap of the person sitting closest to the door.

"Apologies for the intervention, but whosever cat this is, you ought to be more watchful of possible allergies."

Regina tucked away her wand before crouching down to lift Kim up, allowing his unconscious body to lean on her as she shuffled towards the window seat (with a bit of difficulty as she also had to pull Athena's cage at the same time) and deposited him there. She sat down next to Kim, intending to keep an eye on her friend.

Sophia felt strange. Lightheaded. Woozy.

As a general rule, she hated eye contact. It made her feel so awkward and embarrassed because of her sheet lack of talent when it came to basically anything social, so she typically avoided it. She would normally look at other peoples' noses, or their mouths, or their foreheads. Anywhere she could manage that wasn't an eye.

Now, though, it was tough. These weren't just any eyes. They were the eyes of Regina Miller. The girl she'd seen shrug off Flipendos and Mucus Ad Nauseums and Incendios like they were a cool breeze on a summer day. The girl who seemed more predator than human in the heat of a duel. The girl who'd turned David Howard - a Hufflepuff from Sophia's own year - into mincemeat without a second thought. She was a goddess in the duelling scene, and Sophia admired her skill more than anyone else up there.

Sure, Sophia herself was a duellist, and she'd survived decently long in her first duel! But, still. She'd felt like a terrified animal in a cage as the older students poked her with a metaphorical stick. Regina wasn't like that at all! She was the type to rip the stick from her aggressor's hands and stab them in the eye, and Sophia was so, so jealous. She could never dream of being so talented.

Thus, Sophia was immensely disappointed as the older girl's arms let go of her and she found herself standing safely apart from those dazzlingly purple eyes.

"You make quite a couple."

The words made her feel so guilty, especially since they were coming from Kim, but not nearly as guilty as she should have felt, and that made her feel even guiltier! What was it with her and guilt? She always went on these spirals of never-ending guilt, and she hated it.

She could still feel the ghost of Reg's arms around her, and a faint memory of Kim at the Ball the previous year rushed into her head. Why was she feeling this way when Reg caught her? That was supposed to be Kim's thing. No one else's. So why? It had to be because of her sinful acts in the summer. Why couldn't she be normal?

Thankfully her thoughts were dragged to the present as Kim began to sneeze. Unfortunately, he sneezed particularly hard in this fit and lost consciousness.

Well, shoot.

Regina took charge first, dealing with the offending cat with a simple levitation charm and floating it away from Kim. That was a wonderful start, and Sophia would have taken the opportunity to admire the heroism if Kim wasn't currently unconscious.

She stammered and looked around only briefly before remembering Kim's incident at the freeze tag game during their first year.

Right. His allergies got pretty bad, didn't they?

Unaware what else to do, Sophia panicked and dropped a crouch beside Kim, grabbing his torso and roughly shaking him.

"Please wake up. Please, Kim. Please!" she shouted as she kept shaking his torso. She didn't know what to do about someone who sneezed themselves to death. It was one thing to need an inhaler or epi-pen, but what could be done in this situation?

Muggle cartoons and PSAs hadn't prepared her for this. All she knew how to do were the Heimlich and the 'kiss of life,' but he wasn't choking or drowning! He was just... kind of lying there. What could she do about this?

"R-Regina," she choked out, tears streaming down her face. "P-please do something!"

The mildly amorous silence was suddenly broken by a series of... sneezes?
Gem whirled around to see the source of the outburst-- Kim Sato, who had apparently snuck in as the Kdrama-esque scene played out. She moved forward, a concerned question forming on her lips. She was no stranger to sneezing fits herself, and she could almost feel her own sinuses burning in sympathy.

But before she could go over to make sure he was all right, Kim's eyes glazed over, and he slumped forward in his seat.
Gem froze. "K-Kim?" she whispered. This was the first time she had seen someone faint before. Was he okay? What was she supposed to do? What in the world could have caused this?

As Gem hesitated, Regina took action. She flung out her wand, and pointed it in Kim's direction.
Gem shot upwards. "Wait! What are you--"
"Wingardium leviosa!"

Misto yowled as he was forcibly floated from the windowsill. He went up, up, up, almost brushing the ceiling, before he landed on his feet nearby the compartment door. The black cat hissed and dove under the seats.

Gem just stood there, feeling more bewildered than ever. "What--"
"Apologies for the intervention," Regina said, slipping her wand back into her sleeve, "But whosever cat this is, you ought to be more watchful of possible allergies." She strode over, hooked Kim's arm over her shoulder, and propped the boy's body against the wall.
"Oh." Gem said stupidly. How could she have been so careless? She absolutely should have checked beforehand to see if anyone had any allergies. Now Kim had possibly gotten hurt, and it was all her fault.

"R-right, I'm so sorry!" she stuttered, plucking Misto from the floor. "He's mine; I'll go drop him off with my sister. I'm really, truly sorry."
Her throat felt painfully tight, and she could feel tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
Stupid, stupid, stupid! As she moved towards the doorway, Gem's gaze lingered on Kim. Regina had sat down next to him. See, now that was a good friend. Something she obviously was not.

Gem sucked in a deep breath and hurried out of the compartment, cat in hand, leaving a final, broken "Sorry!" in her wake.

Terrible Presence is in effect.

"For Merlin's sake, do not shake him this way!" Regina snapped at the blue-haired dimwit, her hand shooting out to grab at Nelson's arm rather roughly. There was an eerie chill in the air as her unblinking purple eyes glared straight at the younger Ravenclaw with her lips pulled back in an almost-sneer. "You are making it worse for him. I'll take care of him so cease your snivelling."

Her words sounded incredibly mean and dismissive, but the raven-haired witch was tense from the direness of the situation and she would not tolerate any daftness at the moment. She shot a side-eye glance at Sable who'd guiltily ran out of the compartment with the offending feline, then shifted her gaze back to her unconscious friend. Now, Regina was aware she was no Healer - her magic had always been more vicious than supporting. But she knew just enough common sense to check for Kim's pulse on his neck and watched the rise and fall of his chest to make sure he was still breathing properly and not in a state of emergency. Her brows furrowed when she realised she'd have to resort to a spell that'd hopefully trigger his conscience back because she didn't know any other healing spells on hand. Regina hadn't even been aware Kim was allergic to cats. It was unforgivable - never again would she allow simple ignorance to endanger her childhood friend, her best friend.

"Rictusempra," She casted, the Tickling Charm hitting Kim's immobile body dead-on and taking effect. WIS DC [d20 : 13] + 8 = 21, ACC DC [d20 : 20] + 9 = 29 (success)

Puffie watched the humans angrily from his position.

But he was too small to do much of anything and if he flew over at them he'd probably get stepped on.

Therefore, all he could really do was squeak and make his feelings known to them. As Kim fell onto the floor, Puffie jumped onto the windowsill to save himself from getting squished by accident. However, he continued to watch the proceedings with concern. After Regina gathered Kim up in her arms and placed him back on the seat, sitting down next to him, the boy's head of white hair lolled towards the girl's shoulder. And Kim ended up with his head on her shoulder, sleeping peacefully without having to worry about his allergies kicking in too much while unconscious.

That is, until he was rudely awoken by a spell tickling him to death. Uncontrollable giggles erupted from his lips as he was jerked back into consciousness. Even when his eyes opened, he couldn't help but continue to giggle and laugh. "Ahhhhh!!!!" Kim cried out, wanting to stop but the spell wouldn't let him do so. Not yet at least. Who the hell had done this to him?! Wait, what had happened? Puffie glanced over at Kim as his owner erupted in a fit of giggles and blinked. But it seemed as if he was doing fine now! He started to bounce up and down on the windowsill.

If Kim was fine now, he wanted some attention!

Eventually, the spell wore off, and Kim collapsed against the windowsill, breathing hard from the exertion.
