Summer Duelling Funtime ExtravaganzaSaturday, 13th of August 2022
Summer was always an exciting time for sports. The best of the best of Hogwarts competed with the best of the best of other schools, and this year was no different. Except- it kind of was. Gryffindor and Ravenclaw had bested just enough of the other houses to tie for the champions. Leaving Slytherin in third and Hufflepuff in fourth. This left a bit of a conundrum with the captains, how did they create a fun summer event? Chess Combat was out, that was a repeat of last year. They wanted something new, fun, and exciting. Something that would put the duellists to the tests. Eventually they came upon the idea of five 2v2v2 matches and one 3v3v3.
It was going to be absolute madness and chaos. It would push the duellists to height of their spellcasting abilities. They would have to be vigilant and expert strategists with two separate teams. Would there be possible allyships between two teams? Only time would tell as the duels commenced. Spread out around a section of the Quidditch Stadium they were positioned with one team at the point of an invisible equilateral triangle. The moderator was standing by, and probably a little stressed. This was a new situation for the duelling mods, and a thrum of excitement could be felt throughout the matches, but undoubtedly some nerves would creep in at this new situation.
Stands would be set up on the outside of these matches, one viewing section per duel. People could move around them as they pleased, but just along the outside edges for safety.

Summer Duelling Funtime Extravaganza

Valentin attended Match 4 and found himself in the awkward position of wanting to support both Durmstrang’s flashback rockstar, Felix Kolbeck, and one Piérre Marchonné, brother of Valya’s co-captain, Romeo. Val had also wanted to attend Greta’s duel, but he didn’t happen to own a time-turner. Cursing to himself, he didn’t want to cheer for both sides like a chump. That felt disingenuous, cheapening the intensity of his support. Nah, that wasn’t for him. He could hope that both Piérre and Felix would get first and second place, as he couldn’t care less about Ravenclaw… but Val couldn’t stomach concealing the truth of his favoritism.
“P-” Ah yes, English. Not his pitiful wanna-be excuse for novice Italian. “Let’s go, Marchonné!” yelled Valentin’s silky tenor. As much of a diehard Durmstrang supporter as he was, the importance of Piérre to Romeo transcended even Valentin’s red-hot school pride and Val’s affection for his fellow Horntail, Felix. Certainly Val was not about to tell anyone, but Piérre might as well be family to him now. Certainly Romeo didn’t need to hear anything about this, but if Val could sway the odds in Piérre’s favor with the simple contribution of moral support, then the risk of openly displaying this choice was decidedly worthwhile.
“Turn those chickens into alfredo! Pippipipip!” chirped Valentin in his Russian imitation of a hen. It was strange for Valentin to make any kind of reference to food. Clearly something unusual possessed him now. Valya wasn’t sure what the chicken said in English, so he decided to hedge his bets and take a line from German. “Gak gak gak GAAAAAWKKKKKK!! Birds, you feeling too much heat in that stirfry?? GAK GAK GAWK GAAAAAAAAWKKKKKK!!!”
Suddenly, Valentin’s keen eyes spotted a silvery cat entering the sidelines and his brain spun 180 degrees around. Turning his head away from the duel, the boy wondered-- isn’t that Piérre’s kitty? Making enthusiastic kissing sounds, Valentin wiggled the long fingers on both his hands as he extended his arms out towards the cat. Eyes full of utter adoration, Valentin beckoned for kitty cuddles.

Charles was running late to the duels, his mind felt abuzz and hands moist from the sweat. Fidgeting with his hair, his nerves bubbled over witnessing Ronnie duel. The teen realized he should be rooting for, watching fellow durmstrangs but his heart couldn't be shifted. Ronnie cheered him on at the quidditch match so it would only be right... right?
The blonde did feel bad that he wouldn't be able to cheer on the Valkyrie herself, especially when she made such a artistic banner for the quidditch game. Hanging at the entrance of the tent, the blonde would wait till Yefim was about to leave. Coming toward him, holding out an parchment and box as he spoke"their for Greta, I can't watch her whole match but she still deserves all the support we can give." The parchment contained the words "Go Greta! Glory for Durmstrang" above an drawing of the girl resembling a Valkyrie surrounded by sketches of fairies and kneazles surrounding the empty space of the parchment. The box contained a array of sweets and flowers for the girl for after her match, he had extra for the surprise he perpared for Ronnie.
Once the blonde helded the items to Yefim for Greta support, he headed off for the duels. Hands holding a array of items, thoughts ran through his mind, is he doing the right thing? Supporting- Cheering for Ronnie? He should be off supporting Greta or the wannabe goth child, shouldn't he? The blonde felt his heart in his throat, his fingers trembling to the items in his hands. Slipping, due to the moisture on his hands. His eyes tearing past others, focused for one... one in particular.
What's wrong with me... I'm- nothing I'm fine, completely fine and I hadn't forgotten about Fearie just he did cheer for me and it would only be...
His thoughts lost at the sight of him. Ronnie. His eyes found the lad, muscular and taller than the others with chocolate soft looking hair and reflective eyes... the grey one could become lost in if you stare to long.
Running a hand through his hair, nearing their match, the teen held the poster and box in hand as he found a spot easily visible by the duelists. By Ronnie. Eyes studying them, the duelists, smiling a little when he saw who Ronnie's parther for the match was. Milosh! An fellow durmstrang! So, the blonde would be cheering for an durmstrang still!
Eyes at the opponents. Two hogwarts teams, two younger students with two older ones. The blonde wished to see hogwarts lose that day in all their matches, unfolding the banner, placing the box on the ground. The banner contained the words "Go Ronnie! Blast the Hogs! Glory for Durmstrang! For Castello!" Underneath an drawing of Ronnie in his school colors surrounded by the crests of his school and punching bunnies.
The box contained a sign on the front reading "For Ronnie when he wins."
Holding the banner over his head, the blonde watched Ronnie's spell on the redhead miss. The blonde whistled, attempting to cheer on Ronnie as he shouted"Brush it off, Ronnie! You'll hit her soon enough! Destroy those hogs! Aim for glory!" Shouting at the top of his lungs, eyes trained for Ronnie. Watching the duel, that he sort of understood.... never took the time before to study the rules of dueling and such.
What was the red again to Hogwarts? Gryffins? Tigers? Gryffindor... that sounded right, he thought. They were the lion one right? The blonde wasn't that well versed with the hogwarts houses as he shouted"burn those lions! I heard fried lions taste good in the morning!" The blonde was biased, definitely, keeping to theme inspired by Valentin's shouts on the other side of the field as he shouted"The redhead looks like she would go good with the fire! Burn those lions! Feeling the heat, yet cats! Ronnie and Milosh will show you whoes the beasts here! You, house cats!" Shouting at the top of his lungs, holding up the sign. A smile, half-way at Ronnie... who he couldn't take his eyes off of.

Summer Duelling Funtime Extravaganza

Attending Match 1
Summer was a busy time, and there were a ton of events and students around. In a way, it was annoyingly crowded everywhere he went. He was tall enough and strong enough to shove people out of the way most of the time, but it was not always the answer to the problem. Sometimes he shoved people and they shoved back, then there was a fight, and he had to... you know. Prove his superiority.
When Charles had given Yefim a lovely banner, knowing that Yefim was intending to spectate Greta's match, and was possibly the only one of the Horntails to do so, he knew he had a mission to cheer on his little fishlet. However, the annoying kids that he asked about where to go and when did not help, and needed some new black eyes instead. Long after the game had started, into the second round, commotion could be heard in the seats as Yefim butted elbows and flicked ears to get himself into the front row.
Rightly grumpy, and with a little bit of blood dripping from his nose, Yefim would look around the massive dueling match for the easily recognizable Valkyrie with her warrior make-up on. She looked distressed, which would not do. Holding the sign up high, Yefim would belt out a refrain from a famous Russian song of victory, 'Victory Day,'
["Victory Day smells of gunpowder
This is the holiday with grey temples
And joy mixed up with tears.
Victory Day, Victory Day, Victory Day!"]
This is the holiday with grey temples
And joy mixed up with tears.
Victory Day, Victory Day, Victory Day!"]
With as loud as his voice was, there was no doubt she would notice him sooner rather than later. Everyone around him who he annoyed could suck an egg.
