On 9 January 2010, Laura Frances Seidel was born to the English half-blood witch Elizabeth Young and the German pureblood wizard Max Seidel in London, England. Four months before Laura’s birth, Beth broke to Max that she was engaged, to Duncan Smith in the countryside of Derbyshire, where he and their 4-year-old daughter Meg waited for her return home. Heartbroken, Max accepted Beth’s pleas to raise their daughter, and returned to his home in Munich, Germany, lovesick and depressed. Taken into the care of his parents, it was they who took guardianship of infant Laura two years later at Max’s death.
For the next six years, Laura would spend her time in between relatives, from her grandparent’s estate in Munich, to the homes of Max’s three siblings and two cousins. As a result of a misunderstanding many years ago, the Seidel family was widespread and well distanced across the world. Between school terms at a German Muggle boarding school, Laura travelled from the frigid cold of Canada’s north, to the thick heat of Indian forests, to the fertile warmth in the countryside of Italy.
Her worldly childhood came to an end in 2020, when Laura’s grandparents came upon the realisation that she would be enrolled in Hogwarts. Encouraged also by the difficulty of finding caretakers for their granddaughter, they sent Laura to Derbyshire.
In Derbyshire awaited the Young family, once a pureblood family of great renown, now poor and looked down upon, though still holding onto illusions of grandeur and pure blood. Not only was Laura an illegitimate child, but her mother was also seen as an outcast as a result of a Muggle mother. But Beth was unwilling to bring Laura into the household of Duncan and their four children, and so the child was moved into the Young residence, an old and crumbling building, Despite her dreary accommodation and family, Laura was able to find companionship in her older half-sister Meg (unknown to their mother). Meg took Laura under her wing, and Laura grew to idolise the girl, dreaming of the day when she could join her at Hogwarts.
When Laura’s acceptance letter arrived, the girl vowed to work hard, to leave behind her families and to find success and wealth.
First Instance of Magic: At the age of 7, when being taken to unwillingly school, her grandfather's car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. While causing some minutes of delay, her confused grandfather, upon failing to find a cause for the sudden stop, found that the car worked perfectly when he started it up again, and Laura unfortunately continued on her way to school.

Max & Lisa. The early morning was dark grey, the sun having not yet risen, as workers began to slowly trickle into the streets of Diagon Alley. The German diplomat watched them from his position by the street light, lazily smoking as he waited for the British to arrive. In Max’s experience, they were quite prone to lateness. He had half-heartedly hoped the German ministry wouldn’t blame him for their delay when he spotted the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Thick, curling hair and an oval-shaped face, graced with almond eyes, angular cheekbones. His cigarette fell from his lips as he took a step forward. The young girl turned, two suitcases in each arm and caught Max’s eyes. Young and confident, as tall as he was scrawny, Lisa could see the shining watch on Max’s arm and the crispness of his well-made suit. She smiled.
