Recognition had sparked when Bridget looked at her assigned duel. Lindsey, Lucia, Elsa, and Sylvie were all familiar names, and not just as duellists or from around the school; she'd duelled the Gryffindor pair and refereed for the Hufflepuffs just last stage. That meant two things. One, she would get to see how they'd grown since then: what skills they'd refined, what strategies they'd concocted. Two, she knew they were both coming off of losses. Excluding the chance of making it to the summer games, this was their last shot to win, to prove themselves on the stage. Bridget was hopeful that would translate to a duel of grit and precision.
Today would be Lindsey's second ever duel, and in Bridget's opinion, she'd done quite well in her first. If Lucia wasn't stuck blindfolded for the first half of the duel like last time, she could see them being a solid unit. She had seen firsthand how well Elsa and Sylvie worked together in nice bits of teamwork like removing each others' blindfolds. Elsa had excellent aim, landing hit after hit, and Sylvie's spells seemed to have quite a bit of power behind them, from her rumbling storms to nailing Henry with Knockback Jinxes, though much like Lucia, various incapacitating spells had kept her out of a lot of the action. Hopefully today would make up for that.
The final stage of the year meant a variety of things. It meant the culmination of team chemistry. It meant the pressure was on, because even though each stage was weighted the same, knowing exactly what had to happen for your team to come out on top made that weight feel more real. It meant Bridget had been buzzing with an energy only characteristic of her on stage days since last night. Time ticked down, the duelling room filling with duellists and spectators, and finally it was time.
Bridget hopped up to the platform, and on days like today she wasn't even bothered by the crowds looking at her. She had very little performing to do right now, anyway; they were all here for the duellists. "Please welcome up Sylvie O'Niell and Elsa Veronica Bennett from Gryffindor, and Lucia Fox and Lindsey Springhall from Hufflepuff!" She waited for them to take their places, directing Gryffindor to the right end of the stage and Hufflepuff to the left end. A smile was offered to each; hopefully the Gryffindors held no hard feelings. "Be sure to remember the rules and time limit. Before we start, do you have any questions?" Once she was sure the duellists were ready, she stepped off to her place at the side. "Okay, begin!"

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
Knowing that she would be up against Gryffindor this stage, Lucia had been hoping she wouldn't have to face off against Rose Moon again, and her wishes had obviously been heard because she'd never met her two opponents before. She had, however, met their referee: she had also refereed Lucia and Lindsey's last match. Well, hopefully this match would go better than the last one had done. "You ready?" asked Lucia of her partner before they got into the stage. Whether they were ready or not, it was time to duel.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
ReducioSylvie was about up on the stage once again with her partner, Nicky. The two had grown into quite a pair during their first season working together and Sylvie was looking forward do another someday. No matter how this duel ended, a learning experience would be had. The two would grow more experienced and come back stronger than ever.
For now though, the Gryffindor clutched her mother's wand to her chest. Would it serve her well? Perhaps, perhaps not. Only time would tell and they hadn't had much time yet to bond.
"Good luck!" She called across the stage as she walked to take her place in front of the opposing Badgers.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
She walked onto the stage.
This would be her second duel, and Lindsey was looking forward to it. After suffering the loss last stage and seeing the whole team’s result afterwards, she couldn’t but be a bit disappointed. Alright, perhaps not a bit. To say that was obviously a lie, for Lindsey eagerly wished to win a game - even for once. Quidditch had ended for her with defeats, and she didn’t want duelling to be the same. Lindsey had made up her mind to shine, and she should do it.
She took her place.
Giving Lucia an encouraging smile - she was glad to be paired with her raven-haired friend again - Lindsey put her thumb up. “Of course.” She confirmed, smiling bright. “Good luck.” She added to her partner, and then turned to face her opponents.
She gripped her wand.
O’Niell and Bennett were fellow third year classmates, and Bridget Collins was a perfectly acquainted face, having witnessed her lately loss as the moderator. It was interesting indeed, to have this elder Slytherin as the referee again for the final stage. Though this time, Lindsey was determined to show that she was capable - she didn’t want to end up as the only one taken out again. Hufflepuff really, really needed a win.
She took aim. She was ready.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
Nicky strolled up to the stage after Sylvie. This was already very familiar to her - the atmosphere, the air of anticipation before the duel starts. As usual, she wasn't afraid, just concentrated on remembering their strategy and all the things they had done in training. She knew Sylvie and her were absolute girlbosses. Smiling at her partner, she whispered:
"Let's rock this duel".
The person supervising the duel had once won in a fight against her. She had seen her team lose, now Nicky was determined to show Bridget what a Gryffindor win looked like. Her wand felt familiar and comfortable in her hand, she was focused and ready to
RAWR.

The call came and the duellists were off, no time wasted in casting their first spells. Sylvie and Lindsey exchanged Wind Jinxes, though the Hufflepuff's was headed for Elsa. Neither cast was anything to sneeze at, although Lindsey's was not the best spellwork Bridget had seen from her--perhaps she had some nerves left to shake out? Oh, but Sylvie's spell was, well, unique was probably a good word for it. The wind seemed to shriek as it passed, and when it made contact, Bridget was left squinting. Was that... a bit of red? It wasn't very easy to tell from where she stood, but it looked like Sylvie's spell had broke skin, like a nasty paper cut or tumble. Maybe her wind had picked up something little on the stage? Or she had just cast something unusually harsh? Either way, it wasn't something Bridget had seen before, and she imagined it made being caught in a vortex even worse for Lindsey. The bleeding didn't look heavy, at least, nothing to warrant immediate medical attention, but Bridget would be keeping an eye on it.
Between the Wind Jinxes there was a hit and a miss, and the remaining duellists had their own spells to add to the mix. Elsa cast a neat Blindfolding Spell, and Lucia was so close to sneaking past it, but alas, the fabric would secure around her eyes and she would be stuck sightless in yet another duel. With luck, this time it wouldn't be for so long. But before she could see no longer, Lucia got off a spell of her own: the blazing flames of an Incendio Duo. She might be able to glimpse it catching on Sylvie for just a second before the world went dark, and it might provide her enough satisfaction to quell any annoyance at the blindfold. The same satisfaction would not be the case for Sylvie, now being on fire as she was. Unless she liked being on fire? It sounded absurd to Bridget, but there was so much of it at Hogwarts that she honestly wouldn't be surprised. Overall, it was a stellar first round, three out of four spells striking true.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
Nicky winced when she saw her partner getting hit. But she knew these things were part of the sport. And she couldn't let herself be distracted by anything, her focus had to be on their opponents.
"It's just one spell, Sylvie, you can do this!"
She knew that Sylvie would get over the nasty spell that hit her and join her in their fight for victory. They just had to keep doing everything as planned and stay strong.
Rawr.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
Lucia's spell worked like a dream, but the Hufflepuff team barely had time to celebrate a successful cast. A familar fabric slammed into Lucia's face, wrapping around her eyes and giving her flashbacks of her last duel, which she'd spent mostly in darkness. Not again... "You okay, Lindsey?" They deserved a win. They could do this. If Lucia could stop getting blindfolded.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
ReducioThe Gryffindor's eyes shut tightly. Flames colliding with fabric and flesh was never good.
The heat of the flames made Sylvie's heart race a bit, but who could blame her? What if her arm hair singed off? OR WORSE... HER EYEBROWS. She raised a hand to her forehead, just in case. Safe... For now.
As her eyes reopened the glimpses the crimson that happened to be caused by her spell caught her eye... Oh my. Maybe there was... Um... Glass on the stage? Unlikely, but she'd no time to dwell.

Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff: Match 5
Spells were exchanged, and Lindsey was a bit disappointed that her own spell missed. Caught in a blow of winds that she wasn’t nimble enough to evade, she eyed the redhead across the street bitterly. And there was something still worse - she was bleeding.
Lindsey could feel the crimson liquid dropping, like being cut by a piece of glass, and though it didn’t hurt much, it was still annoying. But - the thing was, did Ventus jinxes really cause cuttings? The answer was no, obviously, unless she wasn’t paying any attentions in class. Though she was quite certain that she did, and this was a weird condition.
Deciding to shake the unpleasant thought off and focus on the duel, Lindsey managed to squeeze out a smile to Lucia - even if the latter’s eyes were wrapped with yet another blindfold just like last stage. “I think so.” She called out within the gust of wind, hoping to restore some confidence to both of them.
