Interaction with @Regina Miller
Tuesday, lessons are finished.
Rayne strode through the halls, looking somewhat defeated. There was a sense of hesitation in their step, each tread questioning weather to turn around and head back to the common room. For the first time in a while, they were struggling with anxiety. Back in muggle schools, they had often struggled with school due to stress, but so far in Hogwarts any anxiety had been quite docile. They had an overwhelming amount of homework, which they could barely even begin to process. They didn't even know where to start. As they walked, their mind taunted them with cruel thoughts.
Look whats happened now, you can't even keep up with the work... You failed. What would your parents think? What will your teachers think? What will your friends think? they wont want to be friends with someone who can't even keep up with homework.
Rayne knew how easy it would be to turn around, just stop. do none of the homework, just sit back in the dorm room. Rayne angrily pushed these thoughts away, frustrated.
They stopped, took a deep breath and re-directed their thoughts.
I can deal with this, I just need to get to the study room and sort out my work, They assured themselves. Re-energised with determination, they continued on their path to the Study Room. They pushed the door open, squinting around cautiously. About half a dozen students were scattered around, some writing frantically, some idly reading. Rayne settled themselves at a vacant desk, pulling out a piece of parchment. The paper had an untidy list of assignments, written in a variety of shades of ink. In the bottom left corner, there was a large ink splotch, adding to the general disorder of the page.
For a moment they sat, staring at the overwhelmingly long list, before forcing themselves into action. Rayne reached into their bag, grasping for parchment and a quill. Rats, where is it? I could have sworn I put them in here! They thought, fighting to stay calm. With yet another deep breath, they walked across to the drawers, taking out a few sheets of parchment, a quill and a pot of ink. They knew ther was nothing wrong with their actions, but they felt oddly self-conscious. They returned to their seat, and their gaze returned to the page. This all seemed overwhelmingly impossible. Every ounce of them wanted to give up. They were fully preparing to pack up and leave as a distant memory snagged in their brain. Something a professor had said
'If ever you need aid with homework then older years will always be happy to help,'
Encouraged by this idea, Rayne begun frantically looking around for someone. They needed an older student, who didn't look too busy. They laid eyes on a Gryffindor and made a beeline for where she was sat.
'Um hi,' Rayne said, with a pretence of cheerfulness. 'I hope I'm not disturbing you at a bad time, but I wondered if you would mind giving me a hand with homework?' Rayne glanced at their shoes.
'Again I' really sorry to disturb you,'

OOC note: Please do not associate Regina's IC opinions of other Houses with me, her writer. I love all Houses equally and believe they have their own valuable traits.
It was one of those exceedingly exceptional days where Regina could be found studying in a place that were filled with other presence besides her own. One might say that it was uncharacteristic of the young aristocrat to not be buried nose deep in her books and parchments somewhere that was devoid of people, where she could enjoy the calming peace that only solitude could bring. However, Regina was in a good mood--which happened very rarely these days--as she had received remarkable grades for Defense Against the Dark Arts, her favourite subject. She had wasted no time informing her parents by owl of her latest achievement. No doubt would Father be very pleased with the news, especially when Regina's contemptible sister was nowhere near as smart and talented as her when Rebecca was her age. Mother would be even more so, as she was an outstanding Hit Witch and Regina aspired to follow in her footsteps in the future.Interacting with @Rayne Chance
So yes, the raven-haired Gryffindor was definitely in a pleasant frame of mind and found that frantic scratching of quills on parchments from the other students did not bother her as much as the sound usually did. At least the Study Room was mildly decent comparing to studying in her Common Room where the other rowdy and loud Lions were. She had an almost faint smile on her face as she dipped her burgundy phoenix quill into her ink bottle and wrote her Charms essay. It was almost as if nothing could disrupt her mood.
Almost.
Two words were enough to make the peaceful humming inside Regina's head snap like a twig, making her purple orchid eyes shadowed over ominously with carefully concealed irritation as her hand came to a stop mid-writing."Um, hi."
The second-year witch considered silently in her mind whether or not she should pull away from her homework to give this irksome stranger her undivided, priceless attention. Whether or not they had earned the right to. Regina was pretty sure that those who she had ever interacted with were quick to learn that unless she saw them as worth her time, the only thing they would ever be getting out of it were demeaning insults and a cold attitude. She would make this person learn as well."I hope I'm not disturbing you at a bad time, but I wondered if you would mind giving me a hand with homework?"
Orchid eyes finally shifted away from the intricate and elegant cursives of her handwriting to the bumbling fool standing before her across the table. Regina scrutinized them from head to toe, noticing the yellow tie--a Badger, no doubt--the way they seemed out of place with everything and how small they looked--a first-year, it seemed. The beginning of a faint sneer forming on her lips as she took note of the way the halfwit wasn't even looking at her directly, glancing at the feet with clear apprehension in their stance. As a Pureblood heiress, and a Gryffindor to boot, Regina valued those who address her with respect in their gaze and who held themselves with confidence. She had no intention of associating herself with daft simpletons."Again I'm really sorry to disturb you."
"Homework? Is basic knowledge that incomprehensible to you, or do you simply have a dunce intelligence? I would expect nothing less from a Hufflepuff."
Badgers, meek and incompetent fools who had nothing to preach about but loyalty and hardworking. Hardwork meant nothing without ambition and dedication, and Hufflepuffs were anything but cowards compared to those who honoured Godric Gryffindor's chivalry and courage. Those like Regina, despite her bloodline had always composed of Slytherins. But that was besides the point at the moment.

Becoming frustrated with @Regina Miller.
Rayne closely examined their shoes as an uncountable number of thoughts surged through their mind. The last thing they wanted was to disturb someone in the midst of an important assignment. They hated the idea that they might be being a nuisance.
Deep breaths, what's the worst that could happen? She declines. That would be a bit awkward, but nothing too bad. Rayne's eyes moved upwards slightly, focusing intently on the desk. They forced themselves to appear calm, masking the panic ricocheting around their mind.
They wished that they had just got on with their own work. This student was probally busy, getting on with some work much more important than Rayne's. There was an unpleasant manner to this Gryffindor, all of Rayne's instincts were working overtime, begging them to apologise and leave. Instead they stood, foolishly, awaiting a response.
Rayne was hardly aware of the first few words of the answer, but they tuned in to the girls next, bitter words. The young Hufflepuff was shocked at the girls snide comments.
'incomprehensible to you, or do you simply have a dunce intelligence? I would expect nothing less from a Hufflepuff.'
Rayne wasn't sure what the girl had said before that, but assumed it was of a similar, cutting nature.
'I was just asking for some help, chill out.' Rayne replied, confused by the girls outburst. They were about to sit down, and try to swallow back any emotions of shame, or tearfulness as the full meaning of the girls words hit them. Something stronger that embarrassment or even slight fear took control of Rayne's mind. Burning anger took charge, and Rayne wrestled with themselves to stay collected, and not make a complete fool of themselves.
Their gaze rose to meet the girl's, Rayne's eyes meeting her deep, purple eyes. The shade, to Rayne, looked like a poisonous berry. Rayne stood for a moment in the venomous silence, examining the witch's pale features. She looked almost like a china doll. Ones that are sold in antique shops, that are probally haunted by some vengeful spirit who possesses kids. There was something uncanny about her perfect, symmetrical complexion, and her sour sneer.
It's such a shame you can't hold any sympathy for a first year just trying to do homework. And was it quite so necessary to bring up my house?' Rayne snapped.
I thought you lions were supposed to be brave, because picking on a younger year doesnt seem brave or chivalrous to me.' Rayne felt the eyes of the other people in the room burning into their skull, and their cheeks glowing red.
'Coward.' They finished, staring, deadpan at the girl, challenging her to respond.

If Regina had been a lesser person, she would have reacted to such an insult with an aggressive snarl and a jinx shooting out of her wand to put the impudent Hufflepuff back in their place. However, she was strictly taught by her preceptor to never respond to a challenge with immature and childish impulsiveness--such behaviour was unbecoming of a Pureblood heiress. Even at the face of an unmannerly enemy, Regina was to remain calm and not incite any explosive argument, especially not in the public eye where one wrong move can stain her family's name. A person who let emotions drive their mind did not possess rationality to make reasonable decisions, her Father had once said.Interacting with @Rayne Chance
That was the only reason why she had not so much as bristle at the Badger's accusing words despite the dangerous glint in her eyes and how the dark tendrils of her magic had begun to swirl maliciously in the air as a warning.
(A vicious voice inside Regina's mind whispered that she'd heard worse insults from her cruel sister's lips, and that she'd grown immune to them because of how broken she was.)
"Do you truly think," The raven-haired Gryffindor drawled, a cutting edge slipping into her voice as a warning. "That I would waste my time seeking out weak-minded first-years to 'bully' them as an entertainment, you dim-witted fool?"
How dared they affront her with such boldness when they were clearly no match for her? Regina eyed the Hufflepuff's appalling green hair with distaste, to the tense way they held themself as though they wanted to run away from the attention the other morbidly curious students were giving the two witches, but stubbornly remained because they thought they were smart enough to get a reaction out of the Lion. If she looked close enough, Regina could almost see their jade green eyes were slightly misty. How unseemly. If they hadn't wanted to suffer an embarrassment, then perhaps they should have walked away at the first snark that tumbled out of Regina's mouth.
The older Gryffindor scoffed. It wasn't wise to draw this out lest it become a full-blown fight with several eyes one them. Regina would never hear the end of it from her parents if she was caught wasting her breath on a childish, bold as brass Hufflepuff, of all people. And she wasn't sure if she had enough patience to endure this simpleton's presence any longer.
"If I do find the idea of tormenting you amusing, it will be because of you are a delicate, slow-witted little Badger who wishes they could measure up to a Gryffindor's bravery, and not because I am a dastardly person as you presume me to be. Do not test my patience."
The young aristocrat stood up then, leaning forward dangerously as her piercing orchid eyes stared straightly into the Hufflepuff's jade ones.
"Leave," Regina hissed lowly.

Growing Tension With @Regina Miller
Alarms were wailing in Rayne's mind, making it difficult to think straight. Adrenaline shot through them at the harsh girl's words, masking ever growing fear, morphing their terror into something stronger. They were close to bursting, too close to loosing their head, and they knew that the second that happened, they would loose. Rayne was stuck, with no clue how to react. It wasn't that they were particularly hurt by her words, Rayne didn't care. They had decided a long time ago that the opinions of petty, spoilt people didn't matter. In fact, Rayne almost felt bad for her. It was fury that was tearing Rayne's mind to shreds more than anything.
Rayne looked at the situation differently. They saw themselves and this girl standing on a stage, performing to an audience. It was now an art piece as well as a fight, and it wasn't real any more, just a script.
'That I would waste my time seeking out weak-minded first-years to 'bully' them as an entertainment, you dim-witted fool?' The words were laced in acid, spat out. The girl was not unlike a hissing, writhing snake, ready to pounce. Perhaps she would be better suited for Slytherin. Rayne thought about this, staring, unmoving at the girl. Yes, Rayne did entirely believe this was something the girl would do, but there was something else fuelling this attack. Any doubt Rayne held evaporated, they no longer wanted to run, and hide. They didn't need anyone or anything, except to stand their ground.
Rayne felt icy glare of the lion, examining their features with an expression of distaste. They almost wanted to pose, but decided swiftly that would be immature. Instead, they also used the opportunity to examine their opponent's features. Her face was like porcelain, delicate... breakable. Her eyes were undeniably gorgeous, dark, orchid purple, with an edge of swirling blue. The irises were not at all different to the flower they stole the colour from. In her case, eyes were not windows to the soul. Her hair was perfectly black, like it was covered in wet ink. She was mysteriously beautiful. Her beauty, although, was a pretence, a fake. A cover for the dark twisted thing she had in place of a heart.
The badger was unmoved as she rose, perhaps attempting to intimidate Rayne.
'Leave' She spat, loud enough that everyone could here. Stay calm, Rayne reminded themselves. She's just trying to get to you,
'I think I'll stay, but thanks for the suggestion,' Rayne replied, their face a perfect mask for all of the thoughts surging to the front of their mind. They stood for a minute, looking at the girl. 'You're right actually, I don't think you're bullying me for amusement. I have no doubt that you would, I have no doubt you would stoop that low.' Rayne paused, carefully examining the Gryffindor's perfect features. 'No, I think that you are a spoilt, petty, insecure girl. I think that the reason you are so critical of me, is because you're so critical of yourself. This whole confident, unbothered, bratty persona is just an act, except for the bratty part. You use it to cover up your destroyed ego. The only way you make yourself feel better is by tearing down others. You convince yourself I'm worse than you, to place yourself in a better light. That seems like a sad existence to me. I think I feel bad for you.' Rayne was becoming more confident.
'You are nothing more than a rich girl, with no real friends. You have never had to work for anything in your life, and you're only escape is bullying people you think can't fight back.' Rayne stopped, leaning back slightly. They had made their point, and just wanted the lion's response.

Regina became frighteningly still.Interacting with @Rayne Chance
"How dare you?""You are nothing more than a rich girl, with no real friends. You have never had to work for anything in your life, and you're only escape is bullying people you think can't fight back."
At once, the room temperature seemed to drop. The spectators jolted and shivered in their seats as they hastily stood up and gave Regina a wide berth when they witnessed the black tendrils of her magic becoming visible in the air--a warning, as if they were seconds away from lashing out and wrapping around the recklessly bold Hufflepuff standing at the other side of the table. Regina's beautiful features became twisted as a her lips pulled into a furious scowl, her raven hair flowing out like a halo and giving the impression of a lion's mane. The sound of the Gryffindor's nail scratching against the wooden table was deafening as the entire Study Room had grown eerily silent to the blatant display of growing tension. One might even say in that moment, Regina resembled nothing more than those infamous wicked witches from Muggle fairytales--a with a sinister beauty but a spine-chilling rage when provoked.
How dared this insolent green-haired buffoon make such humiliating claims upon Regina's person? This fool, who probably had never suffered a greater pain than simple things like losing a favourite toy, who most likely had a peaceful, normal childhood filled with caring parents and would never have to bear the burden of extremely demanding expectations that came with being a Pureblood heir. This absolute twat, who naively sought for kindness in strangers and believed that the world was good, who would never be able to understand what it felt like to have to work endlessly since a young age to scrap for their parents' attention because they were overshadowed by their own siblings, to the point of ruining their own childhood innocence and leave only room for robotic perfection because their home life was nothing more than a constant battlefield for the survival of the fittest.
The purple in Regina's irises seemed poisonous as she directed them a heated glare, as though she could Avada Kedavra the pillock Badger with her eyes alone.
"You dare to claim to know me? You, a filthy little nitwit who has been sheltered all their childhood? You, who claim that I never had to work for anything in my life when you clearly have it so much easier? You will never truly understand anything about me so do not claim to know what it is like to be ME!"
Regina's hissing voice had steadily grow louder and louder until it boomed into a shout towards the end of her scathing words. It reverberated across the Study Room and caused the students around them into panic as they scrambled away from the now furious Gryffindor. The aristocrat witch's eyes were burning with ferocious intensity in a terrifying show of unbridled rage--she resembled nothing but a dangerous predator ready to pounce, in that moment. However, as soon as she realised her emotions were consuming her rationality, Regina's lips thinned as she forced the bubbling anger down down down. Her chest constricted uncomfortably even though the expression on her face had turned scarily blank.
(If her sister had been here, Rebecca would cruelly mock her about how very Gryffindor it was.)
It was eerie how just a few seconds ago, the raven-haired Lion had been enraged, but now her features were back to their usual indifferent state--almost like she was a porcelain doll. Regina nonchalantly began to pack her school supplies into her bag as she carefully revert her tone back to neutral, turning her back on the green-eyed Hufflepuff while continue talking to them--as though they were beneath her. In her arrogant mind, they were.
"I commend your bravery for making an enemy out of me. Reckless, but nonetheless bravery. People tend to avoid me the instant they know that I pose a threat, but you are different. No, you have foolishly provoked me for your pathetic sense of accomplishment. You have done nothing but gained yourself the most fiendish of foes. Do you know why?"
The Gryffindor's voice was almost a menacing slither of a serpent as she walked around the table and approached the Hufflepuff until they were almost chest to chest. Orchid eyes bore into jade ones with the promise of vicious retribution. She would not leave this room until this dimwit knew just what was the inevitable consequences of their boldness.
"Because when you poke the dragon, you will get burned," Regina said softly, as though she wasn't threatening the first-year in front of her. "And oh, I will make sure you burn so. very. brightly."
One did not suffer being the target for cruelty without learning a few underhanded tricks of their own. Regina had no sympathy for people, and she did not have a moral compass. She would make this person's life miserable for as long as they both attended Hogwarts.
"Make no mistake, I can be unkind, but I respect my enemies enough to address them by name. I assume you would prefer me to use your last name than calling you any other...unpleasant moniker, yes?"
Regina was certain that the Badger had an inkling of what she was talking about. After all, it was as clear as day from the way they dressed to their behaviour that they were not a Pureblood.
