The last five or so days had been... pretty busy, to say the least. In between settling back into Gryffindor Tower (the dormitories had changed, which had caught Ivy off guard), catching up on classes (the Beauxbatons curriculum had differed to Hogwarts', leaving her behind in some classes and ahead in others), and looking for the friends she'd made in her first year (most of whom had disappeared, as it seemed), she'd had almost no time to stop and breathe and think. Which, of course, was perfect. The last thing she wanted to do was to face the grief that had built up inside of her. It was like a whole ocean of sorrow and despair had gathered inside of her, and she had no idea how long or deep it was because all she could feel was numb whenever she thought about her sister. All she knew was that it was best for her and everyone else that she controlled the waves of emotion, forced them into a soft lull. Pretended the ocean wasn't there, because if she pretended hard enough, maybe it would go away for real.

The chaos of the corridors in between and after classes was exactly how she'd remembered it. Stepping out of the Charms classroom, she was struck with a sudden sense of deja vu. It wasn't surprising. She hadn't stepped foot inside of the Hogwarts castle for over a year, and now she had just been thrown back into it in the middle of the school year. These random flashes of deja vu had occured annoyingly often in the past few days. Ivy sighed and kept walking, trying to keep up with the group of girls she'd sat with that lesson. She hadn't been the most social of creatures back in her first year, and with most of her old friends having disappeared, she was forced to talk to people she'd never really spoken to before. Her social skills had improved vastly since she was last here, and she made "friends" easily enough - but to be honest, she wasn't really sure why she bothered. Her heart wasn't in this place or its people. Hopefully her parents would realise they'd made a mistake in sending her back and let her go back to France soon, although that possibility seemed further and further away with each day she stayed.

It's ironic, she thought as she pushed her way through the crowd, nodding and smiling at whatever the girls were saying without really listening. I didn't even want to leave and go to Beauxbatons in the first place. But now I don't want to be h-

"Oomph!"

Caught up in her thoughts, Ivy had walked right into someone, knocking them over and dropping her books in the process. The group of girls she'd been walking with had kept walking right on without her. She sighed internally. So much for friends.

"Merlin's beard, I'm so sorry," she apologised quickly, bending down to pick her books up. "These hallways are so chaotic in between classes, aren't they?" She looked up from her textbooks to smile at whoever she'd knocked over and offer a hand to help them up, but the smile froze on her face and pure shock replaced it instead, cheeks instantly paling. The hand she had offered half a second ago fell to her side as she straightened up, and time seemed to slow as she locked eyes with the other student. She looked like she'd seen a ghost.

Probably because she actually had.

Because this girl, whoever she'd bumped into, was the spitting image of Alison.

Juniper bite the tip of her quill as she checked the features on the sketch in her notebook. She wasn't much of an artist, but she found herself absent mindedly drawing the sharp features and gray eyes of a kind and beautiful boy she met not that long ago. She knew it was... weird. But she's never had a crush before and now she had no idea what this was. She checked ahead of her so she didnt run into anyone. So inspected her doodle and frowned. With her quill, she scribbled over the face. She was so weird! Why?!

She slammed her face into her notebook, quite stupidly, and didn't notice where she was heading. Quite suddenly, she felt a body collide into her's, and she felt her notebook slam into her face, then drop to the floor along with the rest of the books. "Gah!" she tumbled to the floor, and just as well because she noticed her notebook had fallen open to a page where she had written the name "Draven" about five times like the weirdo she was. She quickly snatched the notebook and fumbled to close it, feeling her face go red

"it's fine, I'm not hurt or anything. " She grabbed some of the books on the ground and handed them to the girl.. "everyone acts like animals in the corridors." She added. She brushed herself off and look at the pale face of the girl. Juniper checked behind her shoulder. Nope, no horror character. So why did she seem so shaken? "Uh.. you good?" She asked.

The world had completely stopped.

She barely registered the people around her, jostling each other and chatting away loudly, didn't even notice when some random kid almost walked right into her. Her eyes were focused on the girl in front of her. Even all kinds of thoughts raced through her mind, the outside world felt like it was frozen in time. All she could see was Alison's smile, Alison's hands, Alison's eyes, impossibly here in front of her on the wrong person. Oh, Merlin, she was actually going to throw up. She couldn't bear the way she was looking at her. There was none of the love or warmth Ivy had missed desperately; there was no recognition, none at all. This girl was an almost an exact replica of her sister, but the small details that seemed to have been altered ever so slightly on her gave Ivy the most jarring sense of wrongness. The freckles were slightly different, like the stars on another night sky, the way her eyes creased when she smiled, the way she held her head and set her shoulders.

The way she spoke.

The girl's question brought her crashing back down to Earth and the world back to normal. Ivy had to swallow the vomit rising in the back of her throat a few times before answering, grief and panic tearing across her chest painfully. She would move forward in a swift motion and grab one of the younger girl's wrists firmly, in a way that would have been a little painful for the poor girl, and when she spoke, her tone was urgent and almost accusatory. "Who are you?" she interrogated ruthlessly, leaning in so close their noses were almost touching. "What are you doing here?" If the girl tried to wrench away, she would tighten her grip until her question was answered.

She wasn't thinking clearly, that was for sure. She was thinking about Alison. Alison, who had died over two weeks ago. Alison, who was most certainly, definitely, undeniably gone. The grief Ivy had been supressing threatened to burst out and ruin the facade she'd tried to maintain for herself. She fought it as hard as she could. She would not - could not fall apart. Not here. Not now.

Juniper's smile faltered as the girl's gaze froze on her. "What? What is it?" She asked, a million questions in her head. Why was this girl looking at her like that? Had Juniper done something to this girl before? She tried to think back but she could not recall ever doing something to this girl. One thing was for sure, she had never met nor seen this girl in her entire life. But now the girl was looking at her like she was a ghost that would never leave her be. Juniper didn't like it.

"What is it?" She asked again, and the girl seemed to blink out of her trance. Juniper understood what it was like to get angry out of nowhere, to have fear control you like a puppet. Sometimes she felt that way when her father had to leave for weeks because he was in the airforce. She never knew what was going on and she would get into trouble because she was scared. She felt like she could vomit sometimes. But her father always came back.

Now this girl was looking at her like she had killed her cat or something. No, she was looking at Juniper like she was a nightmare come to life. Before Juniper realized what was going on, a hand was wrapped around her wrist tightly. "What the- ow!" She hated being helpless like this. She always hit other people when she got so angry at them for doing wrong things, but when it happened to her... no. It reminded her all over again of muggle school when the "cool kids" surrounded her and kicked and yanked at her because she had stood up for everyone against them. They had knocked her teeth out. Her teeth grew back the next day because of magic, but she couldn't think of any spell to help her now.

"M-me?! Who the heck are you?!" She cried, trying to wrench her hand away angrily. She reached over blindly for her notebook, feeling the girl's breath against her face. She touched her notebook with the tip of her finger and pulled it towards her so she could grab it. She swung the book forward and tried to hit the girl's head to get her away. "Stay back you psycho girl!" She foolishly yelled, backing up against a suit of armor. She looked behind her and was thankfully the suit of armor didn't fall.

Now for my escape plan... it won't fail... She ran forward and tried to run past the girl and down the hall, underestimating this girl in everyway.

The redhead's protests would fall on deaf ears. Ivy could hardly breathe, looking at her. Her chest had hollowed out and her throat burned with a million questions she would never get to ask. All she could do was look at this girl, whoever she was, in complete and utter disbelief. Looked into the eyes that she thought she'd never see again. Tried to make sense of all the madness.

Ivy would do nothing to stop the younger girl as she wrenched out of her grasp and ran away. She was in too much shock to do anything else, and would simply stand in the middle of the corridor, replaying the image of the girl over and over in her head. She wouldn't be forgetting this any time soon, that was for sure. For a moment, she wondered if she'd made it all up in her head, wondered if everything that had happened was finally caught up to her and causing her to go mad. No, Ivy decided, she couldn't have made any of that up. No one's subconscious mind was that messed up, surely.

Her breath hitched in the back of her throat, heart pounding in her chest. There was no way she was going to class, not after this. Ivy would pick up her books, and with an eerie, dumbfound calmness, she would make her way through the castle as if nothing had happened at all, and out to hide somewhere in the grounds. Somewhere she could think.
Ivy leaves the thread.
