─────Eloïse Victoire Duciel─────
duellist
─────── ABILITIES ──ReducioEloise is magnificent. Ever since she was little, that's what we've been telling her. When she was a baby it was, "Oh! What a lovely little angel!", When she was a little girl, we would say to her, "What a lovely little girl. You are even more beautiful than your mom." and your mother is very, very beautiful. When you were 7 years old, the parents of your friends said: "This little one is an angel. As much in her character as in her beauty. Are you sure you don't have a Vela in your family?" Anyway, you see the context. It pleases him to Eloise to be appreciated and looked at. At Beauxbatons, it attracts the eyes of the boys. In class, some have difficulty concentrating. It amuses Eloise a lot, who likes to be the center of attention. She loves it so much that she often puts herself in the front row in class. To attract the attention of the students behind her and to listen, of course.
LOVELY CREATURE 413 wordsThe day before the start of the school year, her mother had come to see her in her room. She then said to her:
-Eloïse, tomorrow you're leaving for Beauxbatons. But before that, I have to tell you something important. You are not totally human. Don't panic, it's okay! You are a lovely creature. That is to say that you attract attention by your beauty. Less than the Véla but I imagine you noticed.
Eloise, she was not very surprised. She had suspected it for quite a long time. So she calmly replied to her mother:
-Mother, I must say that I suspected it a little. I'm not stupid after all! But, what does it do for me to be a lovely creature?
This is a question she has been asking herself for a long time. What's it like to be a lovely creature? His mother answered his question:
-Well, first of all, you attract attention. I understand you liked it. Then, in a duel, it prevents your opponent from concentrating. But not a lot.
She then got up from your bed and left the room with these last words:
-Good night darling. See you tomorrow.
-Good night Mother.
Well. Now Eloise knew. She had the confirmation that she was not that beautiful. She was also lovely. A magnificent lovely creature. But that does not mean she is a monster. Just a human and lovely creature.ReducioEloïse and her cousin Astoria spend almost all their holidays together, growing closer or more distant during the weeks they spend together. During the summer holidays of 2021 and the winter holidays of the same year, Astoria set out to teach Eloïse the Parseltongue. At first, Eloïse was reluctant but after a few hours of reflection, she thought that it could be a secret language between her and Astoria.
Comprehend Languages 463 words
After several "sessions" of Astoria speaking Parseltongue and translating for her cousin and Eloïse researching in the huge library, they realised that learning Parseltongue was easier said than done. All the complexity of the snake language lay before her but Eloïse would not give up. In a few weeks she could understand a few simple phrases but her attempts at speaking the language came to nothing.
During the summer camp, the girls met almost every day, with Astoria talking to the snakes in the park and Eloïse doing her best to translate her cousin's conversations. Both were proud of Eloïse's progress in understanding Parseltongue but had resigned themselves to the fact that the Beauxbatons student spoke it. "I think you have to be born with this talent." "It's easy though!" By the end of the summer holidays, Eloïse had an almost perfect command of the language. Of course, she couldn't speak it and that was fine with her because even though she didn't dare tell Astoria, she was a little afraid of being able to talk to snakes.
During the few months she spent in Beauxbatons before seeing her cousin again for Christmas, Eloïse read a lot about Parseltongue and the Parselmouth in general. Where did this talent come from, who were the known Parselmouths, did they have stronger powers than 'normal' wizards. Eloïse was asking herself these kinds of questions. She didn't always find the answers, but she learned a lot. Although snakes were not her favourite animal, she loved them. Some were really beautiful. Others were huge or tiny. They were really fascinating animals.
In addition to his natural curiosity allowing him to have the courage to learn a language such as Parseltongue, understanding the language of snakes allowed him to know an unusual language. In addition to speaking French, English and German, Eloïse understood a language unknown to Muggles, a "secret" language that few wizards understand and even fewer speak. It was fascinating.
On their return from Beauxbatons during the summer holidays, Eloïse and Astoria were delighted to find that Eloïse had lost none of her understanding of Parseltongue and was even much more fluent in her translations. Even though her parents were not very happy when Eloïse told them the news, they finally thought that all those hours locked in Astoria's room during the summer had finally served a purpose.ReducioEloïse wouldn't call herself a Perfectionist but many would say that's what she is. It is often said that students who are popular for their likeability and charisma are not always very good in the classroom. But as well as being popular and sporty, Eloïse was one of the best in her class - maybe even the best. In theory and in practice, Eloïse modestly outshone all her classmates, helping those who had difficulties, congratulating everyone. So Eloïse was the cliché of the perfect girl, super nice, beautiful, popular, with good grades and who helped everyone.
Perfectionist 414 words
This is how people see Eloïse. But beneath her smiling face, even though she likes to help everyone, she is happy when people succeed thanks to her help, she doesn't always want to be happy all the time. In class, when she doesn't perform at her best, Eloïse practices and tries again until she gets it right. Not necessarily the best. Just perfect. In essay writing, she was able to spend a whole day on an assignment that would have taken her an hour. She can spend a lot of time on the wording of a sentence, the layout and all the details that nobody but her would notice.
Her life was literally a dance show. What the audience sees is her happiness, her joie de vivre, her perfect school results and everything that made her the Eloïse Duciel that everyone knows. But behind the scenes, there is her uncertainty, her failures, all those hours spent revising and training, her desire to please everyone, the unnecessary pressure Eloise puts on herself. She was afraid of cracking. She was afraid of giving up all her efforts to fit into the mould while positively standing out from the others. She wanted to be remembered as the brilliant witch who pushed her whole class up.
Even if she didn't spend all her hours revising, rephrasing her sentences several times, Eloise would still do very well at school. Deep down, even if she wouldn't admit it, she wanted to be the best. She wanted to be known as a particularly brilliant witch. Not as a talented witch. Thinking back on all these details, Eloise could finally tell herself that yes, she is a perfectionist. That's why she was helping everyone. She couldn't stand the mess and the imperfection. In the end, it was better that Eloise helped everyone than that she was one of those perfect, haughty girls who put others down.
