Little Rebels
Private with Amelia Lovell
The Astronomy Tower was off limits outside of classes, every student knew that. The rules and curfew were drilled into the students' heads constantly by professor and prefect alike - one would have to be seriously deaf to not have heard of them by now. Nevertheless, Phedra was not the obeying type and thought little of orders from authority, especially if it interfered with her pursuit of knowledge.
It was very chilly the night the two girls planned to sneak out and Phedra knew to sport a black winter cloak, much warmer than the house robes students wore indoors. Climbing the arduous journey up the tower's many stairs, she was careful to keep her clothes and papers from rustling. Although it was one in the morning, the castle never truly slept. Ghosts, paintings, professors, creatures - any and everything was alive and capable of sounding an alarm at any moment. She had begged her childhood friend to come with, and if the pair were caught it could be a sudden end to any future shenanigans. Turning back now would be a waste, so she continued on. It was terrifying, but that was the point of adventure, wasn't it?
"We're almost there," she whispered, turning suddenly to Amelia. Her left hand held her wand, its tip illuminating a gentle white glow. The light reflected off of Phedra's excited features and brightened the surrounding area inside of the staircase. Adjusting her cross shoulder bag containing books, ink, and quill, she turned back around to lead the way up. Her legs ached and her face was rosy from the cold, but she knew seeing the stars would be worth it.
