Private with Dymphna Teague

Phedra prided herself on her ability to pour over books and memorize and comprehend their information in numerous subjects. Dueling, however, she soon discovered was not one of those things that could be perfected through sessions of late-night, frantic page flipping.

Found standing in the room's farthest corner, far from the other students as to avoid any humiliation, Phedra was practicing with a  training dummy she dragged over for herself and gave it a defeated look.

''Tah... ron... tall.. egra...'' Phedra muttered. She had the incantation down, and its hand movement as well, apparent by the careful tracing in the air she was doing next to her thigh. 'I've done it before, why won't it work now?'

Raising up her left hand, she shouted "Tarantallegra!" and a flash of green light erupted from her wand, hitting the training dummy square in its chest. It rolled back forcefully on its only wheel but lacked the wild dancing Phedra expected, only moving up to rock back and forth slower and slower until the momentum wore off.

Furrowing her brows and giving a little huff, she turned her back to the dummy for a breather. Shutting her eyes, she moved her hands to the bridge of her nose and pinched at it irritatedly.

"Phedra Stavrou," she said mockingly to herself, "can't even cast a stupid dancing charm. Yeah, I'll reach the top of Ravenclaw for certain." Her outburst was received with whispered glances and giggles from the other students around her. Feeling her face heat up from the attention, she turned back around to the dummy and raised her wand again.

She wouldn't give up so easily.
