So Long, Farewell
September 1st, 2019 ~ Sunday morning, 10:53AM
solo threadThe Bellamy family were never late. It was an unspoken rule amongst their family members, and they were always somewhat early. But today appeared to be the exception because when Ivy and her family ran through the barrier, there were only seven minutes until the train took off. Cheeks pink, she turned to her parents, wondering if she should say anything.
"I'll make you proud," she promised her parents, although she wasn't really sure if she would live up to her word. She did not know if she could. What if she let them all down? What if she turned out to be just like her older sister, Lillian, the family disappointment? Ivy swallowed, trying to squash down her fear. Don't be ridiculous, she told herself sternly. It was only day one, after all, and there were so many possibilities out there at Hogwarts for her.
Clemence and Oliver Bellamy looked down at her, their expressions indifferent. Ivy searched their faces for some kind of emotion, some sadness or wistfulness or something that could give away some kind of sign that they would miss her. It was in vain, for nothing became of her silence apart from an impatient, "Well, oughtn't you get on the train?" from her father.
Ivy blinked, hurt, turning away resignedly. "Yes, Father." She looked at her younger sister, Alison, and smiled weakly at her. She would miss Alison, that was for sure - even more than she would miss her parents. Ivy pulled her into a hug, ignoring the muffled complaints of 'geroff' and 'let go of me'. "Don't go off making too much trouble, hm?" she whispered in the younger girl's ear.
This garnered a chuckle from Alison as she stepped back, eyes twinkling wickedly. "You wish." Ivy shook her head at her, outwardly amused, but she was worried. Without Ivy to help her get away with so much, she feared that she would get into big trouble. Perhaps the younger Bellamy saw this, for Alison hastily added on, "I'll be fine. Promise."
Ivy smiled at her, a little more relieved, before the sound of the train whistling drew her attention to the red train ahead of her. "I'll have to get going," she said reluctantly. The pureblood looked up at her parents one last time, silently giving them another chance to speak up and say that they would miss her like all the other parents surrounding them, who were holding onto their children... and someone was even crying. But not Ivy's parents. They were already turning away, her mother's voice sharp as she summoned her younger sister with, "Alison, we're leaving." Ivy's lips parted slightly, lifting her hand as a farewell to her sister, who was looking back repeatedly as she approached the brick wall.
And just like that, her family was gone.
Ivy sighed and turned to the train. She should have known that her parents wouldn't show any emotion to her leaving, but still, she had hoped...
Oh well. Ivy shook her head as she boarded the train, as if trying to shake the thoughts of her family off. She would be at Hogwarts soon, and she would make another family, one that she could actually rely on. It shouldn't be too hard, right?if you want to interact with ivy on this day, continue to And So We Begin
