Welcome Kasem Wattana, Professor of Transfiguration

We welcome our newest member of staff: @Kasem Wattana, played by @Eric Kim. He will be taking on the role of Professor of Transfiguration, in replacement of @Makaio Kāne, played by @Dennis Tumberton. Please thank Makaio for all of his hard work and dedication to the subject, he has refined a challenging subject and engaged the student body the duration of his tenure, he wil be missed.

On a warm May day, students would find the Quidditch Stadium had been transformed into the venue for a Hogwarts Field Day. Three stations had been set up, assisted and run by a plethora of captains from each of their respective houses and sports; there was also a general area as well, overseen by the Charms professor, for students to ask questions and spend time outside with other people potentially interested in sports.

A reminder regarding AI use. Please do not use AI in place of real, human effort when writing your posts. We are looking to roleplay with an actual person, regardless of your natural skill level (which will improve with practice). While AI detectors are not 100%, 98% of the time they will capture accurately that a post is either AI derived or heavily AI assisted. When we see interactions move from "no u" to verbose 500 word posts where nothing happens because AI likes to talk in circles, the truth is rather apparent.

We understand that translators and grammar checkers use generative AI, it is for that reason we remind users to consider providing a spoilered (reducio) copy of their original content prior to being translated. We can run this through AI checkers designed for that language to exonerate you and to validate your use of AI as a tool to assist you rather than something that replaces your actual effort.

As for those that use grammar checkers, please note that these use generative AI because they do more than simply tell you when you misspelled something or missed a comma; they also suggest the rephrasing of sentences, the reformatting of paragraphs or different choice words. In using grammar checkers, such as Grammarly, your voice can be lost beneath the voice of the AI. Make sure your voice persists. We use CopyLeaks and invite you to feed your posts through this detector to verify the fact that your voice has not been lost. If it has, then perhaps you should consider editing your post so that it regains your narrative tone.

We're pleased to announce a curious and little known piece of lore within the Wizarding World. Several Hogwarts students are persevering in their magical education in spite of physical disabilities, showing the imperfect world that just about anything can be overcome with determination and a little grace.

To that end, we present one possible solution or help to the issue of deafness among wizardkind: the Hearing Dragon! This may not suit everyone's character or arc, but we present it as a potential avenue for character development.

We welcome our newest Professor of Care of Magical Creatures, Dorothy Dunlot played by @Evelynn Decipio.

Eve is an experienced member of the community: a former prefect, present mentor, sporting captain, and member of the newspaper team. We are excited to have her back on staff and look forward to what she will bring to the subject.

This does mean that we need to say goodbye to our present Care of Magical Creatures Professor Akeem Tousaint, who has served as our COMC professor since April 2025 and was co-lead of our mentor group. They have been instrumental in restructuring COMC HW as we know it, and we thank them for their years with us.

New Mentor Co-Lead

@Sage Willows | @Eden Lorenz-Alves has been named Mentor Co-Lead per vote by the Mentor Team, in replacement of @Akeem Toussaint.

The mentorship program is designed to assist new or returning players in becoming acclimated to the community. This team is the second team many places will meet after validations, but the first team that often develops enduring relationships with our new players. We are grateful for this team and all of their members.
