The Easton family was never one of the names whispered with awe in wizarding circles. They were not particularly famous or popular, nor did they wish to be. For centuries, the Eastons preferred to live quietly, with dignity, avoiding unnecessary fame and drama. They were pure-bloods, yes, but without the arrogance that so many others carried with their blood. Their pride was not in how loudly they could proclaim their bloodline, but in how carefully they upheld it.

And yet, despite their quiet lives, the Eastons did have something special about them. It wasn't something widely discussed, more like a hidden legacy. Generations back, on Asterin Easton’s side of the family, there had been rumors of Parselmouths — witches and wizards who could speak the language of serpents. It was never flaunted, since even in the most ancient wizarding households it was a gift regarded with unease and suspicion. Parseltongue was often associated with dark wizards and evil people. But the Eastons did not deny it either. It was simply acknowledged, kept within the family, remembered.

For three generations, the gift was gone. No Easton child spoke the language of serpents, and some had begun to believe that whatever sliver of ancestry had carried it was gone entirely. That was, until Nevan.

He discovered it by accident, like most children stumble upon their gifts. His parents had arranged a gathering with other wizarding families, the kind meant to foster polite connections among their children. The kind he disliked. The room was filled with conversation and the clinking of teacups, when one of the boys brought out his pet snake to show the others, to brag about it. Nevan, curious as ever, crouched down to study the creature more closely. Its scales caught his eye, because it truly was beautiful in his opinion, no matter what some people said about snakes. He leaned nearer, fascinated by the way the creature seemed to watch him in return.

Then, it hissed. Sharp and warning. Nevan startled, but before he even realized what he was doing, a hiss rose in his own throat in answer. The sound slipped from him way too easily, instinctive and natural. Words formed within the hiss. Words he had never learned, yet he somehow understood. Who are you? the snake had asked. And Nevan replied as easily as if he had been speaking English.

The room around him went silent. The children stared, some pale with fear, others with fascination. The adults exchanged glances that carried a mixture of recognition and discomfort. But Nevan barely noticed. He was too captivated. A snake was speaking to him! And he was able to speak back!

From that day forward, his curiosity became similar to obsession. He quietly tested his gift, searching for ways to hear that strange, secret tongue again. One of his tutors, a middle-aged witch, had mentioned to him that she had a pet snake at home. Nevan eagerly asked her to bring it along with her to the lessons, and his parents agreed, believing it to be a harmless fascination. After their lessons, the tutor would leave the snake with Nevan for around an hour while she spoke with his parents. Those hours became the most important part of his days.

Conversations with snakes were different from conversations with people. They were direct, instinctive and primal. Snakes didn't think in the ways humans did, they thought with their instincts. The things they held of importance were hunger, safety, warmth, and curiosity. They were curious about Nevan, as it was rare for humans to understand them. To Nevan, this strangeness was exciting. It was like stepping into a hidden world, one only he could access.

He knew enough, even at his young age, to understand that Parseltongue was a gift viewed by others most commonly with suspicion. Whispers about Dark wizards always seemed to follow it. And yet, in his opinion, it wasn't a curse. It felt natural, almost fated. In a way, it mirrored who he already was, sharp, observant, instinctive and quietly powerful, even if not physically. Just like he could read people, he could read serpents, and in turn they revealed to him an entirely new way of seeing the world.

The legacy of the Eastons had returned to the family, in Nevan. And he adored it.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Nevan Easton was born on July 19th, 2014 in Easton House in Whitby, England. He was born to two pure-blood wizards, Asterin and Clement Easton. He was their first and only child.

They were a pure-blood family, proud of their heritage, but never the loud and boastful kind that flaunted their ancestry at any chance they got. Both of Nevan's parents were successful wizards. His mother was a curse-breaker at Gringotts, his father a skilled healer who studied at St. Mungo’s. They weren't well-known of famous, but they were successful enough to have a fair amount of wealth. So Nevan grew up nicely, never missing any necessities or toys. His parents would often buy him the things he wanted, so long as he behaved.

Because both of them were very big on discipline. They wanted their heir to live up to the standards of the wizarding world, especially given that he was a pure-blood. They were ambitious, both having been Slytherins in their youth, but they weren't overbearing. They just wanted him to be successful. They wanted him to be as close to perfect as he could, so he would have more job opportunities, more allies and would be able to succeed.

Nevan's childhood always had structure. From the youngest age he remembered order: daily routines, meal times that were never missed, lessons that always happen at the same time every day. It got annoying some times, too bland, too boring, and even sometimes too hard to maintain, but Nevan appreciated that order. And he still had his routines, morning and evening. He'd just have to adjust them a bit at Hogwarts.

However that didn't mean he absolutely liked all of the things in his childhood. For example, the lessons. He had nothing against the lessons themselves, he liked being prepared, but he disliked how ridiculous some of them could be, how unnecessary. They had started as soon as he could read, and while they started simple, they got harder way faster than they should have. When Nevan was younger, he'd be exhausted after his first few lessons yet sometimes still have more. It took him a while to adjust to the amount of things he had to study. And that was one of the things Nevan liked a bit less about his parents. He wished they had given him more free time.

If he had more free time, maybe he wouldn't be so isolated. Nevan grew up spending most of his time in Easton House, where there weren't any people he could interact with in a friendly manner. He spent some time with his parents, yes, but both of them were busy people, which meant they often had to leave him to the care of his tutors or the house elf, Hibsy.

He wasn't friends with anyone in his neighborhood, there weren't many children who lived nearby, even less magical. But he did still know a few kids. His parents would sometimes arrange meetings with nearby wizarding families, small tea gatherings where children were expected to sit politely and exchange a few stiff words. Nevan found these moments awkward at first, as he was not used to the easy laughter of children who had siblings, nor the casual teasing that seemed to occur between them. But he was a sharp observer. He watched the way they spoke, the way they smiled, the way their expressions shifted when they were bored, or amused. And he learned to adapt.

He found that he had a knack for reading people, understanding what they were feeling. And he also discovered he had a knack for making them believe he was feeling something similar, or something that suited their emotions. If they were upset, even over something small, he'd be sympathetic. If they were angry, he'd be calm and empathetic, or he would let them take out their anger until they calmed, depending on what he thought would work better on the specific person. He wasn't emotionless, he felt things just as much as others, and sometimes the feelings he showed were real, but he never showed them if he thought they wouldn't be well-recieved, if they would cause him problems.

But even so, he was lonely. A few meetings didn't change how little interaction he had with children. But he learned to accept that, and he found he enjoyed being alone. It gave him more time to work on his ambitions, with no distractions. His parents set their expectations high, but they praised him when he succeeded. That's probably something that influenced his determination. He liked being praised. He didn't need many people's attention, he just needed his parents' praise and them to be proud of him, which he knew they were. So he made sure he'd never disappoint them, and set his mind on achieving his desires.

From his mother, Nevan inherited his curiosity. From his father, Nevan got his patience and pragmatism. His mother taught him that knowledge was power, and his father taught him that he needed precision and restraint to achieve the best results, that he shouldn't just be careless when he learned magic.

His parents instilled in him that success was not something he could stumbled upon by luck. It was something he had to work toward, carefully, deliberately, and with determination.

His Hogwarts letter was expected, and he was prepared for it. His parents were proud of him when he received it, and they made sure to remind him to focus on his studies and to not care what house he was in, so long as he worked towards his goals.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
The first time he accidentally used magic was when he was around 5 years old. One of his tutors, a stern, no-nonsense wizard, was quizzing him on the very basics of magical theory that pure-blood children learn. He asked question after question, giving him no time to recover from his answers and pressuring him to not make mistakes. Usually, Nevan thrived under pressure, but this time he stumbled over one of his answers. Then got the next one wrong.

His tutor seemed disappointed, mumbling something about 'wasted potential', and Nevan got mad, his hands clenching at his sides both because he was embarrassed and because he didn't want to disappoint his parents. And even more, he hated someone thinking that he wasn't good enough. It frustrated him. He was glaring at his tutor with as much anger as his small body could fit. He couldn't handle the idea of being a disappointment, of wasting his potential and not being able to pursue his goals.

The heavy quill in his tutor's hand suddenly shattered, the book on the desk by him flying open to the exact page that held the answer he had gotten wrong. Nevan hadn't meant to do it, but he didn't apologise. He was proud of himself, because not only had he done magic, but his magic had proved a point.

When his parents heard about it, they were proud of him as well. And they got him a new tutor once he asked.

✦ Background Story ✦:
Reducio
Born to Brazilian immigrant parents—Carlos, an accountant at a small accounting firm, and Regina, an independent digital artist—Aaron came into the world in London, England, on March 13, 2014.

His parents met during a six-month exchange program. Their host families were neighbors, so it wasn’t hard for them to cross paths—it was as if they were chess pieces moved by fate. Carlos, a lover of practicality and safety, fell for Regina’s adventurous and unpredictable spirit, as if each completed the missing part of the other’s personality. When Regina discovered she was pregnant in the fifth month of the exchange, their host families supported their decision to stay and build a life in the UK, especially after learning that both young Brazilians had strained relationships with their families back home. Carlos’s host father offered him a job at his own accounting firm, where the young man thrived. Regina, who was cherished and doted on, remained with her host family—they had recently lost their daughter in an accident, which was why they had joined the student hosting program. They saw in Regina the daughter they had lost, and from that moment on, everything fell into place.

But now, let’s talk about the boy. At the age of two, Aaron and his parents finally moved into a home of their own, still in London, in a neighborhood close to their host families. And so, the boy spent the following years living as a Muggle, never once suspecting he might be a wizard.

Aaron had always been a boy unlike the other children at the Muggle school he attended. Something there didn’t feel right—it was like a puzzle piece that came in the box but didn’t fit anywhere. Aaron especially liked that analogy, because once, while talking to his mother about it on his tenth birthday, his mom Regina used the very puzzle she had given him as a gift to explain the metaphor.

Since then, he became interested in puzzle games. That only fueled the bullying at school, because while the other kids played typical, socially acceptable games, young Aaron wanted to solve a jigsaw puzzle, tackle a word search, or play crossword puzzles. That kind of thing was frowned upon, so when he received a fiction book that same year, he devoted himself to reading—a more socially acceptable pastime—and it was in the world of literature that he chose to immerse himself.

Because he was different from everyone else, Aaron was constantly mocked, which led him to isolate himself. No child’s mind is equipped to handle the complexities of how human relationships work. As a result, he developed low self-esteem and a persistent, deep sense of insecurity.

That’s why he’s more reserved and finds it hard to trust or open up to people. On the other hand, he’s intelligent—he knows a little about many things, thanks to his reading habit. Especially in the realm of fiction and adventure, with heroic protagonists whom Aaron secretly dreams of becoming one day. Through the bravery of these characters, described across countless pages he constantly read, he’s subconsciously inspired to be courageous and seek boldness, though always within limits. For example: he’d feel thrilled to explore mysterious, dark hallways at night, as long as he wasn’t alone and the timing was allowed.
✦ First Instance of Magic: ✦:

Reducio
After a tough day at school, Aaron took the bus home to rest and dive into his books and board games. Just like on any other ordinary day, the boys mocked him—of course—and the young boy had grown used to it. But now, they had started to insult him about his sexuality, something he himself had no clue about (understandably, since he was only ten years old; but that didn’t stop the kids from spreading rumors about things they, just like Aaron, didn’t even understand).

Leaning against the window where he sat, Aaron was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice Josh—the main boy who tormented him—was also on the bus, just behind him. Josh was saying things Aaron tried desperately to ignore—which was hard, since he’d forgotten his headphones. So naturally, he felt sad, but also deeply angry and frustrated. He decided to get off a few stops early, unable to bear hearing those offensive words about things he didn’t even comprehend. When he made that decision, he stood by the door, waiting for it to open, though the next stop was still far away. But he was so upset and so desperate to get out of there that the door simply opened. Not just Aaron, but everyone sitting nearby was startled by the door swinging open while the bus was still speeding down the road. In the shock of the moment, Aaron lost his balance and fell out.

An ordinary person—a Muggle, to be precise—would have been seriously injured, maybe even killed. But Aaron landed on the ground like a feather, luckily on a quiet residential street. Yet there were no witnesses to back up the story when he tried to tell it. Young Aaron found it all so strange, and it made no sense—so he convinced himself that none of it had happened, that he had simply gotten off the bus as usual, when it was stopped. Eventually, he forgot all about that day. But a year later, he would discover that it had truly happened—and that no bones were broken, because Aaron was a wizard.

Being born into a pure-blood family meant that Laysa was never too unfamiliar with magic. She grew up in a peaceful environment and was taught all the basic knowledge her family considered necessary.

There was a time when her father (the youngest son of the Vaughans) argued with them because he wanted to live independently with his wife, another pure-blood witch. The Vaughans opposed this, fearing something dangerous might happen, such as being discovered by Muggles while accidentally performing magic. Eventually, her father did move out and adapted to a life among Muggles—of course, in a remote area, sparsely populated, with houses far apart to avoid detection when performing unusual things in the eyes of Muggles.

After Laysa displayed her magical ability on her sixth birthday, she was sent to her maternal home to be educated as a proper witch, in accordance with her bloodline. At age eleven, like other children, she received her Hogwarts acceptance letter.

First Instance of Magic:

Reducio
From a young age, Laysa loved beauty and always took care of her appearance, especially her hair. One afternoon, at age five, while playing with a piece of wood and two flint stones, she accidentally singed a lock of her hair. Luckily, the fire was extinguished, but the hair had been shortened where the flames touched it.

At the time, the Vaughans had to stay overnight elsewhere due to a delicate matter, so she had to endure this from that afternoon until the next morning. She cried all night, wishing her hair would return to its original state without needing her parents’ spell, fearing she would be scolded. Strangely, the next morning, the burnt lock had restored itself completely, healthy and intact. This was the first time she displayed her magical ability.

The Vaughans soon discovered this through a magical portrait they kept at home (to ensure her safety) while they were away, so it wasn’t long before they knew. She was still scolded and given proper guidance afterward.

Character Special Race/Talent: Human
Remember: you need to register your character to Index within 30 days of validation to be eligible for a magical race (such as part Giant) or have a magical talent (such as Parselmouth), and you need to write a 500-word (maximum of 2K words) application describing how this fits your character (as in, describe how they exhibit this magical talent or race) and where it came from (example: your grandmother was a vampire, you had a distant seer ancestor, etc.). Once you are registered as human, you can no longer apply for a special race.
Character Backstory: With her gentle tones and ethereal stillness, Eleanor Whitehorne is a calm and remarkable character. She has clear moss green eyes, a tall, willowy frame, dark ash brown hair, and a quiet yet observant disposition. She seems to have lived under cloudy skies and light rain because of the hint of coolness in her pale skin. Eleanor is dressed in dark wool and earth-toned knits with accents of starlight blue or silver. She leaves a faint scent by carrying a tiny pouch of dried lavender or sage. She draws attention like a classic novel.

Eleanor Whitehorne is a half-blood witch, with her father being a Muggle-born astronomer and her mother being a magical herbologist, placing her in the half-blood category within the wizarding world's blood status classifications.

First Instance of Magic: When Eleanor was six years old, she strayed too far from the garden path while pursuing a moth, which was the first time she had accidentally used magic. Panic struck when she realized she was lost. She was gently led back towards the garden gate by the willows that were starting to stir around her. Her mother didn't mention it right away, but she did notice the slight glimmer of magic stuck to her boots. "The moor listens, you know," her mother said with a smile, tuned into the silent language of the earth. It now pays attention to you. This tale emphasizes the value of understanding and respecting the earth's silent language as well as the strength of magic.

Applying for a special race is part of your registration. Do not split your registration into multiple posts; your special race application should not be posted separately.

Their first instance of wandless and underage magic was when they were eight. Marvin is the middle child of four siblings. They were born on April 23, 2014, in Plymouth, England, where they spent their childhood years.

Their eldest siblings are boy-girl twins, Elaine and Vince, both born June 3, 2005, and have long graduated from Hogwarts. Their second-youngest, a girl named Adelynn, was born on December 9, 2019. And their youngest, a boy named Beau, was born on March 29, 2024, who has many years ahead of him until Hogwarts.

Marvin's parents are extremely busy, which is why every child they have is born so far apart. They don't have time to settle down for a couple of years and have kids; they have to plan around when they can be free. Marvin's mom, Edyth Howle (i. e. Ferlet), works as an Auror, and Marvin's other mom, Myrle Howle, works as a Curse-Breaker. They usually have kids through some magical supplements.

With the absence of their parents in the house, the kids are used to being solitary, and rely on themselves. There has been a nanny ever since the twins moved out, but she comes and goes when needed and is barely seen around the house otherwise when playing with Beau. Marvin has never minded how their family is, and their parents make the most of it when they are home for a week, or weekend.

With a built-in library in their house, reading had become a common hobby between all siblings, and they bonded most when talking about stories they’ve read or want to create. Their first instance of magic was during a reading night, the week their parents were home from work. Marvin was around seven, and got so absorbed in their book that their magic manifested like a Howler and blurted out everything they had been reading. That’s one of their most fond moments with their parents as they laughed so hard at it, but for Marvin’s siblings, they teased them till the ends of the earth about it.

I grew up in a middle-class Wizarding family. Even though I may be pure-blood, we never saw anyone as “less than,” regardless of their wizarding ties, level, or accomplishments. We lived in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, Scotland.

My father, Glaxius Georgey, was lost to a group of dark wizards when I was nine. They attacked his shop during an extortion attempt, and when he stood his ground, one of them used the Avada Kedavra curse on him. Their goal was to force our family business into paying them off and giving them influence in the local wizarding community. The killing curse was a way to make an example of him I guess, at least that's what Uncle Gladius told me.

He had been the proud owner of “The Wandsman’s Place,” a wizarding sports shop centered around dueling, Quidditch, fine clothing, and all manner of wizarding sports gear. What made the store unique was that it also carried some football gear. Though my father was pure-blood, his curiosity and fascination with muggle life drew him to their sports. He would sneak into muggle footy games as a boy with his brother Gladius, and they became genuinely passionate about football. He believed sports, wizard or muggle, brought people together and always mattered, no matter what.

I still help out at the shop today, and Mom, Galadria Moonstride-Georgey, does an amazing job running it. I am proud to be a part of it. After Dad’s death, Aurors were assigned to track down the gang responsible, and a lot of bad stuff in Edinburgh stopped happening, supposedly as a result of their work. It helps that my Uncle Gladius, now an Auror, was directly involved in the investigation. He and Dad were as close as close gets.

I sneezed whilst on the toilet one day when i was 7 and made all of the sport balls explode in dad's shop somehow... Still haven't managed to explain what happened there. But I can say it was rather shocking and made a big old mess. Interestingly leading me to Mom showing me my first cleaning spell

Greetings Mr. Georgey, A few things before I can approve your registration.
  • Please do not claim that the events in your life affected a whole city. Edinburgh is quite a vast city, you'd be essentially godmodding a lot of user's backstories if we approve what you've stated.
"After dad was killed, a few Aurors showed up and cleaned up the entire city of this crime network, "
It'd be more suitable if you simply suggested or hinted that criminal activity was somewhat reduced in the city due to efforts of law enforcement.
  • We need a reason for how His Father knew so much about muggle sports despite being a pureblood. These two cultures are worlds apart and we'd need a justifiable reason.
  • Please explain the motivations of the dark wizards for supposedly killing the father, while robbing a store is satisfactory, the implications of a killing curse are far worse than something you'd use for a simple robbery or extortion.

- Your character page here does not include your backstory or first instance of magic. In fact, it looks like it includes the information from Slytherin's roleplayer introduction thread, which isn't quite what an encyclopedia is. Your character page should include, at the bare minimum, the following:
  • Your character's full name
  • Their house
  • Their age
  • Their school year
  • Their species
  • Their backstory
  • Their first instance of magic
  • In a separate trunk post, their stats, and, if applicable, their abilities.
You can find more information here. Please edit your character page to include what you've included in this post here.

Character Special Race/Talent: Metamorphmagus (510/500)
Reducio
For a time, Verity remembered when her parents would hide her from the public view, have her stay in her room when they had guests, and scold her when she exhibited even one unexplainable change in her appearance. While her random hair colour changes could be waved off as playing with things she shouldn’t have, eye colour was harder to explain. Kids couldn’t have contact lenses, let alone coloured contact lenses. Slight anatomy changes were also incredibly frustrating to explain. No, Verity couldn’t explain why her ears were rounder or her nose bridge higher. No, she couldn’t explain why her lips were big and round one day, then small and thin the next. It wasn’t like she wanted it in the middle of a high tea, either.

Unbeknownst to Verity, and all their living relatives, the root of her condition was a great-great-great-great-great (many, many greats that their names had definitely been lost to time; if not time, then the inevitable dust and decay of the family records) ancestor and their partner. The Muggle ancestor had married a wix, who produced a Half-blood child. That Half-blood child married another wix, who produced a child with a similar ability to shift their appearance at will. From there, the gene would reappear every almost every other generation. But in the last few generations, the gene had disappeared into obscurity as well as any link to the Wizarding World, until it manifested in Verity once again. The reason? No one really knew. A Squib, perhaps, or the marriage of Muggles into the family line. Whatever it was, magic had become a fairytale to tell the children and nothing more.

With how rare the Metamorphmagus gene was, Verity’s parents never truly understood her condition or knew what to call it. It didn’t help that her brothers never presented the same issues, looking all normal and easy to manage when it came to public appearances. It worsened her relationships with her father and oldest brother. Malcolm had already been frustrated twith having a daughter as his first heir, and Magnus called her weird every time her abilities became a dinner table topic. Her grandparents had no words for this otherwordly phenomenon, and her aunts and uncles only found it amusing.

On the bright side, when no one was looking, Verity found it fascinating to play around with. Even with her parents’ words to control it and hide it, she would spend the late hours of the night in front of the mirror. For the most part, it was just the occasional colour change; green eyes were too bright and red hair had her wishing she had it instead of the basic blonde she inherited. Funky colours like purple were… interesting, to say the least, and brown eyes made her face look flat. The facial structure changes that would happen on accident in public were harder to figure out and, eventually, she gave up on it altogether. Still, show-not-tells at school would’ve gone hard if the act of changing your appearance at will wasn’t literal witchcraft.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Verity Themis Engels was born on May 23rd, 2014 in Chelsea, England to Malcolm Daedalus Engels and Eulalie Juliana Grosvenor. She has two younger brothers: Magnus Hector and Cassius Asterion.

The family lives in a large estate, courtesy of Eulalie’s dowry and Malcolm’s drawings from his business’ profits, and have staff that help to manage the house and the kids. They have lived in relative comfort, never really indulging too much but not depriving the children of experiences, either. In her early formative years, Verity had a strong presence in socialite circles as the representative heir of her family. But she was later forced out once her brother Magnus was old enough to understand the family business. As such, Verity and Magnus have a strained relationship. Her relationship with her youngest brother Cassius, however, is very tight-knit.

Growing up, Verity had a whole lineup of hobbies. From ballet, to harp, flute, and piano, to horseback-riding, ballroom dancing, to sewing and embroidery, it seemed there was no end to whatever she could choose to fill her days with. Her nanny, Miss Alethea, was in charge of teaching the girl proper etiquette and manners when her mother wasn’t present. Verity attended a private pre-prep and private prep schools with the intention of getting into a good high school before a Hogwarts professor showed up at the family's doorstep.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Her first instance of magic occurred at the age of 4. Verity’s mother brought her to her first ballet lesson, all prettied up in a pink leotard, tights, ballet flats, and a pink bow in her hair. During the lesson, Verity was bored and started jumping in place, making sure to really bring her knees to her chest. However, after one particular jump, her feet landed wrong and she felt this searing pain in her leg as she hit the floor. For a second, she lay on the floor in utter pain, ready to cry. But by the time her mother and the teacher reached her, the pain in her leg went away. Even after testing her ankle by doing some circles, she didn’t feel anything.

Character Backstory: Eleanor was born a half-blood witch. Her father is a wizard, and her mother is a Muggle-born. Both her parents support her in her education. All her family have been in Hufflepuff for at least 15 generations. Her family always comes around for dinners, and she has a sister that is 4 years older and a cousin that will eventually attend Hogwarts. She loves her family to death and cannot wait to see what Hogwarts will be like. Hogwarts was exactly what she expected. She had good connections with both her housemates and classmates, even if they were from other houses. She was doing well in her classes for a first-year student, but all she cared about was making a good impression and making sure she got a job after Hogwarts that would help her be a better leader.

First Instance of Magic: When Eleanor was five, she and her mother were baking, and she added salt instead of sugar to a double batch of cookies with a mere flick of her wrist. The next day she tried to make pound cake. The same thing happened. Then brownies. Same thing. Her mother waved it off with a shrug. Accidents happen, I guess!

Jon was born to a small household of his mother, Emalie Cantu, father Mark Cantu and became the younger brother of Anton Cantu in Rye, England. The small town known for its rich heritage and olden buildings laid out next to the sea. It was a gorgeous place to grow up outside of many muggle's eyes except if they visited for vacation. Luckily for the family, they preferred the bigger, bustling cities. Jon and his brother were no strangers to muggles though, some of the neighbors and best friends being muggles until they were whisked away to a boarding school, as they told them. Switching lens' the two brothers, four years apart in age delved more into the magical world as they got accepted to Hogwarts and proceeded to do their schooling there. Jon's childhood was quite studious versus the typical laughter-filled one a kid ought to expect, but this led to him being sharper than a good chunk of his classmates and stricter around the edges when it came to rules and his future. His relationship with his parents was a tricky one as academics and responsibility was shoved down his throat more than love and family. So, he remained heads down through his schooling and when his parents up and passed only a few years later after his graduation, an invisible string that had been weighing down on him snapped. His health, motivation, and even his relationship with his brother improved. Now, Jon has taken a more laid-back approach to life, exploring the wonders the world has to offer, as they come in all different shapes, sizes, and volumes as well. Those wonders being the students he now teaches.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Jon's first instance of magic occurred when he was 8. Some say 8 is early, some say it is late, but whenever it is, it is usually caused due to a surge of emotion, which is exactly what happened. His parent's had a hand in his influx of emotion, startling him around corners, purposefully bothering him when he was playing, but this time he had been pushed too far. Jon was well aware that his parents were up to something and for that reason alone, he repressed whatever they were trying to make him do. The 8-year-old's normally wide eyes narrowed in confusion as they handed him a gift. His senses were on high alert as he unwrapped the box containing a shimmering blue ink. All suspicion was lost as his gaze was entranced on the swirling bottle. Picking up the bottle, he marched over to the kitchen table and sat down. The supplies lay out before him, scratch parchment paper and his favorite quill. As he dipped it in, a smile spread on his cheeks. Clink! A single hip-bump from his mom into the table sent the glass phial tumbling, the glittery-blue ink splashing onto the parchment haphazardly before soaking in moments later. Jon's quill sat hovering above the now ruined paper, tears welling in his gaze. Taking a deep breath to gulp back the tears and anger bubbling he couldn't help but blame his mom. She probably wanted this to happen. He stood up from his spot, knuckles clenched and the chair that was beneath him moments ago went skidding across the tile until it too had the same fate as the phial, now laying on its side. Jon glanced at the chair, then at his parent's elated faces and dodged their outstretched arms. His footsteps rang heavy on the wooden stairs as he stomped his way up to the room and slammed the door.
