Noted! We will be reviewing the process going forward as it is true that some miscommunication happened and a lot of house points were delayed without being noticed.Sere Nade wrote: 7 Aug 2025, 06:15ReducioMarcus Iwasaki wrote: 7 Aug 2025, 00:21As specified in the sports on Hogwarts.io post, house points are awarded after all of that sports’ games are over for the season. So eg once all the summer dueling games have ended, the dueling captains reach out to admin with a list of all the winners so they can award the house points. Same with quidditch and broom racing, dueling is just an example here.Sere Nade wrote: 6 Aug 2025, 20:53 This might sounds like a really trivial matter, but something popped up in my mind after reading the newest sport announcement (about duel).
About timeliness... I think this is not only about the moderation, but also about house point distribution after winning a match/competition. I asked this to one of the captain and they said this thing was an admin/staff level duty.
I keep questioning when will I get the +1 house point after winning a sport. Immediately after winning? After every seasonal games is concluded (which I assume is the correct one)? Or yearly?
A certainty -for now and moving forward- about this thing will be appreciated.
(If you notice missing points, reach out to your sports captain to verify!)
So what I assumed was right. That's why I put this in Forum Suggestion instead of FAQ-Question: I suggested for a timeliness in house point distributions.
I did ask the captain about this, and they said it's admin/staff duty (not everyone in sports captaincy can give +1 house point to the winner, I think). I don't know about other sports, but house point distribution for duel tends to be delayed too long. I believe I haven't received anything since last year's Fall Games, and it's been two, almost three seasons passed. I understand that you're busy. If it's 1 season passed due to your respective irl business or due to different speed of moderation, it would be understandable for me, but 3 are definitely too long.
So, again, certainty -for now and moving forward- will be greatly appreciated.
I don't know where the problem lies that's causing this delay as I'm not involved in and don't understand your structure, I find it difficult to propose a solution. The only one I can propose right now is to have one person on every sports captaincy in charge of distributing points after all the games in every season is concluded. Maybe the one that also contributed themselves in staff level duty
Edit: I have received my house points just now! Thank you Marcus![]()
This is a suggestion best put into the coding suggestions forum as it would require a code edit: viewtopic.php?t=15378Elena Clark wrote: 7 Aug 2025, 17:22 :> have a qwestionHihi !! It's just something that came to me while planning my club : would it be maybe possible to add a poll option in posts ? I know we have one when we start a thread, yet for the normal posts we don't. Even if I'm speaking solely for myself, I think it would be highly useful for everyone, particularly for group decisions like IC clubs, or even onsite votes ? For planning and such it would be more practical than having to search and count the replies, or than linking an external poll website !
That's just a suggestion I happened to think about, tysm

I do not know if these suggestions have been put here before so I apologise if they have.
It would be so cool if there would be some sort of event organisers team? Where like things happen and people can participate in the event, maybe there can be like book writers in that team that note everything down and it'll go into the history of this site.
I also thought it might be cool if there's maybe like voluntarily work. I know nothing on this site that is a job gets paid, but I mean also something you can say your character does for work. Like, work at a pet shelter or things like that and do activities for that?
Further I was thinking that it would be awesome if there could be a staff appreciation event every quarter of the year? Since everyone of the staff is working so hard and it would be awesome if us none staff could do something to repay you.
Let me know what you think of the suggestions!:)

I can say that there are people that get a chance to plan events. The top six learner of two specific months get to plan the spring and fall balls. I believe the next opportunity is this month or next month.Madelynn Casavero wrote: 11 Aug 2025, 17:22 I do not know if these suggestions have been put here before so I apologise if they have.

Also, official staff members do get paid an extra stipend for the work they do.

@Madelynn Casavero, @Avery Gray, event planning is not gatekept by staff and top earners, everyone is allowed to. For my first four years, I organized a yearly game for house Slytherin, like pillow fights and scavenger hunts and I also repeatedly organized april fool pranks and mother's day appreciation events for our head of Slytherin. People organize inofficial sport games all the time as well. The world is yours
About work- you are not restricted from getting your character a job, it has been done before, as long as you adhere to child labor laws. Remember that you are playing a 11 year old right now.
Your character is also spending most of their time at Hogwarts, so that might be something for the vacation times.

Hey!
Firstly, I really love this website and have had so much fun on it so far. I can tell a lot of work has gone into making sure this is a great community and you all have been really welcoming!
This might be more of a code thing, so pardon me if it is in the wrong thread, but it would be really nice to be able to react to owls, kind of like an email where you can like or heart a message, for things that might not require a full response or just as a way to say "thank you, I received your message!"
It could be interpreted IC as giving the owl who delivered the message a treat or water, or even drawing a heart on a little slip of paper.
Just a little idea I had, its okay if it isn't possible or not a good idea

This would be something our site owner/coder is the only one who could hard code. But I can say that I get things like little pictures or emoticons ion my owls on occasion in response to things I have done for users.

Hii.
Maybe other users can go into the common room of the other houses. Only common room, like the place for the rps, not ooc room I know this is against the rules of IC but we cant really assume all students are rule-followers *smirks*and it provide storylines such as going to a party in one’s common room but your friend isnt in the same house and the users just need to kinda risk for going into detention.

There was a proposal a few years ago regarding making it possible to have players enter other common rooms. Unfortunately there was an overwhelming sentiment by users that they wanted to have a place that was theirs and not accessible to everyone.
The beans are coded in a way that makes it not possible for us to offer trades, but I can understand how and why some would enjoy that.

I think like the "world" part of hio isn't really big. There are four separate forums for London, yet only one for the others (elsewhere). But Britain is big, with England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Shouldn't there be like separate forums for each of the other places, since Hogwarts has students from all of Britain?

Mentors have a capacity of 3 mentees at a time, so some mentors may not be claiming more mentees due to how many they have at a certain time.Emily Harris wrote: 9 Oct 2025, 01:58 Hi! I do have a suggestion concerning the mentorship program. Many mentors don't even accept any mentees at all, though they are active and (this is just my suggestion) I thought it might be a good idea to let those who actually accept mentees often only be mentors, and remove those who don't
Not even sure how good an idea this is, this is just my opinion on the current scenario where only a few mentors are actually actively accepting mentees
