Marianne was born in Canada in a small French town. She is the younger sister of three whom are all wizards/witches. Her family decided to move to London when she was about five years old. Their reasoning to such a move was that England has more job opportunities. Indeed, as soon as they moved to London, her father was hired by the wizarding bank. Her mother was also hired as a healer in St mungo. While her parents were working, Marianne and her sibling were taken cared of by their grandparents.

When she was six, her oldest sibling received her letter of acceptance of Hogwarts. Since then, she couldn't wait for her own letter to arrive. Every time her siblings would talk about school during summer, she would silently curse them in her head because of her jealousy. She used be really lonely during the school year since her siblings were all gone. She did not have friend, just her grandmother. Her grandfather died when she was nine due to dragon pox. Her grandmother did not really talk after that so Marianne would usually spend her days reading her sibling's old schoolbooks and practicing flying with an old comet. When her grandmother died of heartbreak a year and a half after her husband, Marianne's mother resigned to take care of her daughter.

Her happiest day was certainly when she received her letter of acceptance. Her mother knew that Marianne was looking for an owl every morning since her eleventh birthday. So when it did arrive she took Marianne to diagon alley the same day to buy her school supply. She also bought a brand new broom for her daughter even she could not bring it to school until second year.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Her first instance of magic was in flourish and botts at 8 years old. She wanted a book but nobody was there to help her. She wanted it so much and suddenly it flew like a bird to her. It was a big suprise to her because she didn't know she could do that. Her mom was really proud of her. She remembers it like it was yesterday

While you're nearly ready to be added to Index, you've already rp'd within the confines of the castle and for that we'd require a reason to explain how and why Marianne hasn't graduated with her original class and is still in Year One.

Secondly, your FIOM reads a bit too intentional, this first instance is supposed to be unintentional where the magic is not something the PC actively controls or decides and has the desired effect carried out.

Ada lives in a small house, perched atop a small cliff in Eltham England.
Both her parents went to Hogwarts and Ada has heard many a thrilling tail about their times spent in the castle. Ada's mother is an Auror and her father is as well. Ada's best friend Amari is quite the opposite of Ada. She loves books and prefers to spend a weekend in a cozy spot on the couch reading a good book, rather than out on some crazy adventure like Ada would much prefer. Ada and Amari kinda balance each other out, Ada brings Amari on some of her adventures and Amari stops Ada from doing anything stupid (Which she is prone to doing). Ada has gotten get herself into some not so nice situations before and expects to encounter more in her years at Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry. Being so prone to getting into trouble she must also be good at getting herself out of it. This is a skill Ada has a knack for. She just hopes that it will be enough. Ada was crestfallen to hear that Amari would not be attending Hogwarts as she would be but a muggle middle school close by. Ada was non the less, very exited for school to start and she can only dream about the adventures that await her.

First Instance Of Magic:
Reducio
It was a blustery day and the wind rattled the windows of the small cliff side house. Ada was were she often tended to be on days like these, out side taking in the scenery from the vantage point of the cliff. something on the ledge just below Ada caught her eye. Something gold and shiny. It was a galleon Ada thought in surprise. "I wonder how that got down there." Ada wondered aloud. Since she was only seven she was understandably forbidden to venture down the cliffs. This of cores meant that she new the sheer rook face like the back of her hand. Ada carefully clambered down the stone and reached the galleon on the ledge below. It was a small ledge and quite a bit smaller than she would have liked. This was also an odd ledge because she had never seen it before. "Enough thinking." Ada thought as she picked up the gold coin and put it into her pocket. Ada was just starting to climb back up the ledge when she was stopped by a loud cracking noise. Then She heard a Whooshing sound in her ears and she felt a jolt in her stomach much as if she were moving downwards very quickly. Then it stopped. Ada looked around to see that she was at the bottom of the cliff but very oddly completely unharmed. Then something clicked inside Ada's brain. She felt a surge of excitement. She should have plummeted to her death but she didn't. She got more and more exited about the more she thought about it. "Momma, Momma!" She yelled gleefully, scrambling back up the ledge. "I think I just did magic!"

- Your Backstory is too short, it needs to be 200+ words on it's own.
- Your FIOM is a little too intentional, she wouldn't be able to continue floating/flying for this long, please choose a more suitable unintentional first instance of magic.

Character name (First and last name): Tavi Honey.

Character Backstory:
From her earliest months, Tavi Honey struggled to breathe beneath the white stone walls of Rosencourt Manor. Her fragile health was interpreted by the family as the sign of an ancient curse—a long-held belief that the Honey bloodline was doomed to illness unless its heirs married pure-blood wizards. Though no spell was ever confirmed, the idea became doctrine, shaping generations of choices and fears.
Meredith Honey, of Ravenclaw House, Tavi’s mother and a judge in the High Magical Court, recorded every symptom as if her daughter were just another case. Her approach was methodical, severe, almost clinical. Silas Honey, also Ravenclaw and a fellow judge, countered that coldness with tenderness: he rocked Tavi each night, told her stories of justice, and taught her that magic could come from the heart as much as from blood. Though they shared a house, their ways of wielding intellect were opposites—Meredith through relentless logic, Silas through reflective empathy.
Her uncle Thorne, a staunch believer in blood purity, saw Tavi as a threat to tradition. Cassian, her older cousin and fellow Slytherin, grew up convinced the legacy was his by right. Amid that tension, Silas offered gestures of affection—flowers, family secrets, and words that defied inherited doctrine.
At age two, Tavi took her first steps through Rosencourt’s halls under the watchful eyes of her grandparents. At four, a severe fever left her unconscious for days. Though healers found no magical cause, Thorne hid a remedy from Silas, fearing it wasn’t born of pure Honey blood. When Meredith discovered the sabotage, the manor split into factions. Only Tavi’s cries bridged the divide, reminding everyone that her life mattered more than any protocol.
By six, her health had stabilized enough for Meredith to introduce her to the family’s grand library. Among shelves of dark leather volumes, Tavi read her surname etched beside generations of ancestors. Though the Honeys avoided pets for fear of endangering their heirs, Tavi fell in love with magical creatures she found in the books. During formal gatherings with other pure-blood houses, she secretly sketched hippogriffs and nifflers, dreaming of one day touching their feathers and scales.
At ten, she began accompanying her parents to hearings at the High Magical Court. She observed trials, memorized clauses, and between tomes and moonlit walks, shaped an idea of magic as a force for protecting the vulnerable.
Just after her eleventh birthday, the long-awaited Hogwarts letter arrived—its parchment crackling like a promise. Silas beamed with pride, Meredith nodded in solemn recognition, and Cassian stared with quiet challenge. Thorne retreated to his study, muttering about unbreakable traditions. That night, Tavi felt the echo of every sacrifice. At dawn, she descended the stairs with her leather trunk and cloak in hand, ready to rewrite her own story.

First Instance Of Magic:
Her first magical outburst came at the age of seven, during a formal dinner at Rosencourt. Nervous about reciting a family blessing in front of a room full of judges, haughty cousins, and chandeliers that seemed to watch her, Tavi felt her chest tighten. It wasn’t exactly fear—it was a mix of embarrassment, a longing to disappear, and a flicker of mischief held back. When she saw a tray of fruit floating toward the table, she pointed at a favorite apple… and accidentally launched it straight into a guest’s forehead.
There was a moment of stunned silence. Then, the room erupted in laughter. Meredith was mortified, lips pressed tight and eyes fixed on the tablecloth. Silas, however, hid a smile behind his glass, as if he’d just witnessed something sacred.
Tavi froze, cheeks flushed, heart pounding like she’d sprinted through the halls. But amid the chaos, she felt something new: a warm current rushing through her body, as if something inside had finally responded. It wasn’t just magic. It was joy. It was power. It was the certainty that, for the first time, she had done something that wasn’t written in any protocol.
And that emotion—a blend of freedom, mischief, and relief—was what awakened her magic.

Hi, Tavi! I have a few notes for you before I can approve this application:
-Please make a trunk post, this will be a separate post from your main one in your encyclopedia. -The backstory you have here is not the same as the one in your encyclopedia, please make sure they are the same.
-Your character's mother cannot have the Ravenclaw surname as we do not allow players to claim connections to canon characters. Please choose a different last name.
-Tavi cannot communicate with plants, please remove this.
-The second part of your first instance of magic does not make sense, it is an intentional act of magic, I ask that you please remove it.
-The curse you say is in this family isn't really possible. I suggest adding that it's believed there is a curse instead.
STATUS: Pending, Sage, August 18th
Thank you for correcting those. Here are my new notes:
-Your backstories and first instances of magic are still not the same between this application and your encyclopedia. Please make sure they are the same.
-You still need to make a trunk post.
-I'm confused by Tavi's first instance of magic, what emotion is causing the magic? Right now I'm reading it as she just pointed at the apple and it moved so I would like some clarification.

Camille, the youngest out of three children, was born into a family whose name carries weight in high society, their regal lineage stretching back centuries with estates across France and some parts of southern Europe. His father, a man of rigid expectations and old-world pride, rules the household with an iron fist. Camille’s mother, by contrast, was softer, more indulgent, and fiercely protective of her children. Though not immune to their father's harsh nature, making her, among the older, respectful children, a pushover. Despite not being the heir in line, he is expected to uphold some kind of image. Camille learned early that affection was conditional, and rebellion, even subtle, came with consequences. Camille is just beginning to challenge this authority, tired of his prior efforts to please his father never earning him any favors. He's still criticized, scrutinized and controlled like a liability.

He spent his early years in the sun-soaked countryside of Provence, moving between family estates and the social circuits of Paris before settling in Windsor for the time being. For whatever "business", Camille has no interest in due to finding it incredibly boring and dull, something his family frowns upon.

For all his "faults", Camille has talents. He's incredibly musically gifted, particularly in song, and has performed at various events. Likewise, he's been trained in classical ballet since he was a young kid and has debuted on stage, making him a well-known figure already at his young age. It comes with it's fair share of perks and cons. Camille loves the attention from his growing fanbase, but being a public figures means people take advantage of you, and the screaming eventually gets annoying. Assuming everyone is only after him for what he portrays, Camille is suspicious of motives and keeps people at an arms-length.

FIOM
His first instance of magic happened after their move to Windsor, at age 9. During a formal dinner, Camille in his boredom, accidentally caused the candles to flare brighter and the wine glasses to levitate slightly before clinking together, interrupting an important conversation between his father and a politician.

Character Backstory: Hi! Name's Brutus!
First thing to note, I was born! 'S why Im here now! I was born to the Pureblood Palmer Clan in Kilkenny, Ireland! The best city in the best country! My parents'r named David and Meredith!

Most of my life, we've been going around the world. Oh yeah, my parents work in the Ministry of Magic, in the Muggle Studies division. They work with muggle archaeologists, and are Historians. Easy to study Muggle History when your muggle job is to study their history!

So, they would travel all over the world, studying ancient ruins 'n monuments. And they'd take adorable little me with them! I've seen the Parthenon, I've seen Egyptian ruins, Old Mayan and Aztec temples, and I saw the old Roman ruins. The Coliseum was HUGE! Mom 'n Dad really like that one. They specialize in the Muggle Roman Empire. That's where my name comes from! From that guy who was Caesar's right hand man!

Im interested in Muggle studies too. How they evolved and progressed without magic is REALLY interesting to me.

Me cousin, Dan, was a Quidditch star in Hogwarts, and captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team! Longest running captain, AND the best Seeker in Hogwarts history! (Eat your heart out, Harry Potter!) He's my favorite relative! He's clever, he don't talk down to me, and (almost) always answers my questions about Hogwarts!

He told me about Hogwarts every time he visited. I wish I coulda seen him play! But, watching the World Cup was pretty nice too. I knew what I wanted to do pretty quickly after seeing it. I wanted to play Quidditch too.
Sure I like muggle research, but I havent found what Im passionate about regarding that yet.

First Instance of Magic: The first time I used magic was in Dublin. I was 6, We were in a garden, and I was super interested in a statue of some muggle named Oscar Wilde. I touched it, and it turned and winked at me!
I was terrified! Not cuz of the statue moving, I've seen plenty of those. We have some in our house, even! Our Actual house, the one we can access from our muggle house in Kilkenny. Can't have moving statues in a muggle house. No, I was scared because I thought I broke the Statute of Secrecy!
Mom and Dad assured me that I didn't. That first time use of magic is not a crime. They also said that I get to go to Hogwarts now! I was so excited I couldn't sit still! So I didn't.
After that, we went to Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor in Diagon Alley to celebrate! I got my favorite, The Candy Connoisseur!

School Year or Adult Level: First Year

Does any Profile Card info need changing?: I think that maybe I’d need to be switched over to half-blood for when my special race application is accepted, but I think that would be it. If how I've written things allows him to stay what my profile is set to I'm fine with that, but given Veelas are magical in nature I'm going to assume he will be changed to half-blood due to that.

Finnegan is a quarter Veela. That's not information known to him or even his parents. Finnegan's mother Faye did not grow up with her biological parents, one of which, her mother, was a Veela. Her father was just some man, nothing too interesting to note about him. Her mother was a sort of outcast, not being one who truly embraced the world of magic, and even had disdain for what she was. So she left, and pursued as much as a normal life she could. She learned to control her temper, and learned to shut away what she hated about herself the most, and was able to find what she thought was true love, without the effects from her allure. She ended up having a child with this man, and loved him dearly. That was, until he found out about the affair. In which she was furious, her heart was broken, she had gone about everything the way a muggle would in her life. And she gets paid with rejection. So, in short she destroys the life she created, setting her own house ablaze while Faye was at school, ripping her from her family, and any explanation of what she is, if she ever found out anything too different. Other related Veela to the Gaffney's would be Faye's aunts. 3 out of the four of them took on wizard husbands in life. Any part-Veela offspring ended up not showing many signs of being one, such as shared hair color or skin with the father, no or unnoticeable bird-like features when angered, but they do typically have better control of their abilities, and are close to as skilled as their Veela counterparts in singing and dancing. Some did end up as late bloomers as well in terms of showing more than appearance. So in Faye's case she didn't really show off any noticeable bird-like features, but she wasn't much of a temperamental person like her ancestors. She does look the part, light blonde hair, pale skin, tanned just enough to prove she goes out into the sun, but not much by human standards. And she has a beautiful singing voice. She may not know it, but since she believes in herself to be human her allure, and other abilities aren't used all that often, if they are it is a subconscious action. She also is a late bloomer and since she never had the pressure to do these things willingly, Veela magic wasn't something her subconscious mind really focused on doing. Also, because of this if she does have the gene for magic, that her FIOM would’ve been way after she turned 10. Since her abilities are innate it’s likely they were not considered FIOM because of the lack of an emotion triggering the casting. For Finnegan, at the moment he looks very human. Copper hair, freckled skin. But for him his Veela nature is much more compressed. The white gold hair associated with them is present in his hair as the was is assumed to be sun and salt bleached streaks. In fact it shows up as a sort of vitiligo-esque coloring of melanin. Even his skin has it, as the freckles seem to only appear in designated areas upon his skin, other areas appearing like his mother's, barely tanned enough to pass as human. When it comes to other facts about Veela and Part-Veela, it's not known if Finnegan shares any other traits at this point in his life. He's never gotten mad enough, he'll get upset, but he grew up encouraged to talk about his feelings which helped with that. All of that will likely show up after being at Hogwarts for a while. Being a late bloomer himself as well.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Finnegan spent most of his life with his mom, Faye Gaffney, and dad, Gideon Gaffney, in a seaside town in Ireland. His mom was a stay at home mom who would homeschool him and such. His dad worked with boats. He cleaned them, fixed them and everything. Finnegan grew up as a girl for the first seven years of his life, as that is what he was born as. However, his mother, who has a trans sister, caught him looking over at more boyish clothing. She thought nothing of it for a while, more so keeping it in the back of her mind, assuming Finnegan was likely a tomboy. Something his father would incessantly tease him about. It wasn't long until he told his mother how much he didn't like the teasing, she raised him to speak to her about things that made him upset and to set boundaries with people. One night a few months after he turned six he asked his mom. "Why does papa want me to be all girly? I'm not a big fan of all that stuff." His mom didn't really want to assume so she skirted around the question, testing the waters here and there by asking, "Does it make you happier to appear boyish?" She would also get a few boyish clothing articles and toys during holidays the next few years. Finnegan's father would question his wife, and all she would say is that she was giving him opinions, and the space to be more boyish, it could be a phase since there weren't that many younger girls in town his age at the time. It's not until another round of teasing where Finnegan exclaims, "What if I want to be a boy?" From then on his father seems to change, he becomes distant, his teasing becomes nagging, but his mother gives him the choice. To present as he chooses. She helps him pick out his name, styles his hair differently, and even starts referring to him as her son. This didn't really go well with his father. He was upset, thinking that his wife is forcing this upon him. "What if it's just a phase Faye? What if she changes her mind." To which she responded, "If he changes his mind later on down the line, that's fine. But you see that spark in his eye when the lady who owns the bookstore calls him a young lad? How he holds himself around the other kids in this small town? Let him be a kid dear. If he decides to go back to being Elowen, then so be it, but right now, it's Finnegan." His father still didn't care all that much. He and his wife ended up drifting and his nagging towards Finnegan ended up in arguments more often than not. His mother decided to leave. When Finnegan was around 9 they moved to a small town near London, to stay with his aunt, his mother's older sister. She welcomed the little man and her younger sister with a warm heart and for the next year Finnegan's mom picked up a nice job at a nearby cafe. Finnegan ended up loving it, one because she started baking again, and two because his grandparents owned it. He'd drop by there everyday after school to do homework before her shift ended, then they would both walk home, or some days stay out a little later at a park.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Finnegan's first instance of wandless magic was when he was around four. Him and mother were on the shore, Finnegan was going about collecting seashells and sand dollars for her as today they were pretty much everywhere, he'd swear this was the most shells he's seen before in his life, which made him so excited to go over the shells he found with his mom later before bed. He ended up finding a piece of a pretty shell. His mother does crafts so if he could find all the pieces she'd probably be able to make something really nice. He does just that, putting all the little pieces in his bucket and running up to his mom after his dad called out for dinner. The shells were forgotten for the time being, left by the door until after dinner his mom found the shell in the bucket all in one piece she called out to her child to applaud him on finding such a nice shell. He thanks his mom for fixing it, assuming that's why it's all in one piece. When in reality his excitement about collecting shells and such for his mother gave him the slight ability to mend shells that he has most of the pieces of. He doesn't mind broken shells, in fact he prefers the pretty ones to be broken most of the time, because then his mother can make some mosaics with them. There were a few other occasions of wandless magic after this, like accidentally changing all of his father's fancy ties pink after a particular bout of nagging and teasing from him, which really upset Finnegan.

Hi, Finnegan! I have some notes for you before I approve this application:
-Your first instance of magic (FIOM) needs to be the same in this application and your encyclopedia.
-I'm confused about the actual magic part of the FIOM, what exactly did Finnegan do? Remember that first instances of magic are caused by a big emotion.
-Index requires clear information in our applications. I'm having a hard time finding this in your application for quarter-veela. Is Finnegan's mom really part-veela? Right now I'm reading it as she only has the physical qualities of a part-veela. To be a quarter-veela, Finnegan must have one parent who is a part-veela and the part-veela must have a parent who was a full veela. While Finnegan IC may not know this information, we need to know this.
STATUS: Pending, Sage, August 20th
-I am still confused on Finnegan's FIOM. First instances of magic are one act of magic, right now it reads like every time he brings shells back they are magically fixed. Additionally, these first instances of magic require a strong emotion.
-Veelas appear to have "birdlike" features when angry, but it doesn't go as far as them having feathers. Please edit this out.

Edit: I have put this through multiple AI detectors due to having been thought of as using AI in the past. Just thought I should express that the majority of the ones I used said there was 0% AI content, whereas there were some that indicated high percentages of said content were present.

Just to clarify, I have not used AI, even if the detector says I have. I spent a lot of time writing and coming up with ideas for Jane’s backstory, the same going for her FIOM and other aspects of her character.

———————————————————
———————————————————

(I have omitted many details—especially when it comes to how they earn their wealth—for the sake of length. If there isn’t enough detail then I am happy to add specifics in.)

Jane Song's origins are rooted in a household where ancestral legacy is equally as important as blood.

The Songs, a lineage of Korean Purebloods dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, have over the centuries established their name as synonymous with financial prosperity and concealed influence. Their wealth, abundant enough to provide for generations of descendants without the necessity for employment, is not dependent on a singular trade; it is constructed upon a complex arrangement of investments, land acquisitions, meticulously protected mercantile networks and much more. Financial luxury for them is neither a quest nor an ambition, but merely an understated constant that supports every choice: a foundation against which anticipations and customs are enacted.

At the summit of this structure is Jane’s grandfather—the prevailing head of the family—whose control over the family’s financial machinery remains firm, despite his advancing years. He supervises the family’s age-old methods of accruing wealth. Even as he upholds these established practices, he has started to transfer portions of control to Jaehyun, Jane’s father, who now oversees their progressively crucial role in private equity within medical institutions.
These financial commitments are as related to status as they are to revenue, linking the Songs’ name to intellectual and technical distinction.

Jaehyun’s parallel existence as a heart surgeon (despite that being completely unnecessary in terms of earnings) in the Muggle world, in addition to an Auror in the wizarding one, mirrors the Song principle that wealth should never result in inactivity. To be a Song is to contribute, to improve and to represent control over one's life, even when there is no monetary requirement to do so.

These expectations weigh heavily upon Jane. Her childhood was carefully structured: a detailed routine of tutoring, social conduct and learning that permitted minimal space for leisure.
Language instruction practically commenced before she could remember. Proficiency in English was, of course, mandatory; along with Korean (specifically the Seoul dialect) and Swiss-German, the native languages of her parents. Latin and Ancient Runes were introduced subsequently, taught (alongside all the rest of their studies) simultaneously as academic exercises and credentials that symbolically constructed what her lineage represented.

Music was regarded with similar seriousness: the violin was not merely a pastime but a requirement, an extension of Pureblood refinement. Jane practised daily under the supervision of instructors who accepted no errors. Roughly a year after she began her violin studies, piano sessions were incorporated into her schedule. These skillsets reinforced a notion that artistry should not be spontaneous, but carefully moderated (though Monika’s influence subtly modified Jane’s initial perception of this, as her mother believed a bit of spontaneity was utterly required).

Her tutors comprised a constantly shifting group of prominent scholars and specialists, many of whom had been cultivated within Pureblood customs. In mathematics, she was trained not only in numeral operations but in financial computations: interest rates, accumulated returns and the calculations involved within commerce.
In history, her studies were centred less on extensive recordings; more on dynasties, treaties and family trees. Wizarding history was taught alongside Muggle, because the Songs sustained the belief that true influence rests in understanding both worlds.
Even her lessons in calligraphy, physique (for example way of dress) and rhetoric carried tremendous weight, because to stumble in these ‘fundamental’ abilities was to disgrace her name.

The Pureblood customs of her father’s lineage necessitated an upbringing instilled with self-control. Within Song households, children were expected to be seen but rarely heard, and they should never speak immoderately. Demonstrations of emotion were frowned upon and composure was often more valued than warmth. This principle shaped Jane’s disposition, despite Monika being almost (not completely) completely foreign to the idea of outward control being more important than mature emotional expression, especially concerning the communication of love between parent and child—because her childhood was nothing like that, although self-control was emphasised—and even though Jaehyun went to great lengths to ensure his daughter did not experience the same level of neglect that he did as a child. Jane still adopted this manner of behaviour because, although young, she could see how her father was affected by the expectations (although she hadn’t entirely made that connection, only saw the result) her grandparents had all but scarred him with since his youth—in spite of his partial healing. So, while she acquired profound warmth and empathy from her mother, she learned to conceal these qualities with a veneer of composure. Otherwise, she would not only fail to succeed in ‘perfection’, but could be more easily manipulated by anybody who sought to hurt her. Among peers, she appears calmly reserved, but underneath this exterior exists an intense loyalty and a tendency to give her trust rarely but completely.

Pureblood expectation also meant dedication to lineage above self. Jane was aware that her actions reflected not merely upon her immediate parents and grandparents, but on generations of Songs, many of whose portraits lined the halls of their Oxfordshire manor.
Both the physical and mental memory of these predecessors were reminders that she was not an individual drifting without restriction, but simply a connection in a continuous sequence.

The Songs’ core wealth supplied the resources that permitted such an upbringing, but it was the tradition supporting that wealth that defined its meaning. The family’s fortune rests on a philosophy of longevity: never permitting resources to remain unused, but directing them into streams of return that last across generations. Shipping routes, import-export privileges, undisclosed firms, investments in both Muggle and magical industries form a latticework designed to endure political unrest or economic changes.

This structure meant Jane grew up hearing conversations about liquidity, dividends and risk allocation at the same table as discussions about runic meaning or diplomatic social conduct. For her, business and education were never separate locations but overlapping responsibilities of heritage.

Her father’s choice to work, though unessential, served as a representation of purposeful labour. The Songs could live comfortably without effort, but Jaehyun impacted upon his daughter that to abstain from effort was to, in many senses, diminish oneself. His surgery and Auror work represented two sides of the same idea: the discipline of craft and the strategy of defense. Monika’s dual roles (Muggle counsellor and Wizarding Healer) also reinforced this ethic, showing Jane that wealth was not an excuse for idleness but a platform for owning responsibility.

These models instilled in her an uneasiness with leisure: even during moments of supposed rest, she felt the pull of unfinished study or unpractised music.

Jane’s intelligence is the natural consequence of her context overall. It is not brilliance in the wild state, but intellect honed like a blade. Her reasoning is sharp, her memory controlled by years of structured repetition and her creativity framed by rules that demand clarity of thought. Yet alongside this cultivated mind exists a disposition that contradicts itself: outwardly composed, inwardly restless; obedient to tradition, yet secretly desiring a space where she might define herself beyond it. Her conduct reflects this duality. She is courteous, her manners ingrained and her physique specific, but she observes others with a certain curiosity; as if seeking to understand lives not bound by the same chains of heritage.

Her childhood environment fostered both strengths and pressures. She possesses confidence in her capacity to learn adaptively and to excel (which is a very valid confidence, because she does posses that ability), but additionally a perfectionism that sometimes presses her into stagnancy instead of risking failure.
Born from the intensity of her private tutoring, errors weigh on her more heavily than they should and she can be sharply self-critical when she falls short of her own expectations. Monika’s influence has somewhat softened this harshness, but the unspoken pressure of Song standards has nonetheless instilled in her a fear of inadequacy she rarely admits to

Although her mind has been refined and quality manners instilled, marks that are deeper than any surface-level trait exist with the possibility of never leaving. From her father, she acquired a manner of emotional restraint; she feels deeply but she seldom exposes herself, mainly defaulting to composure when she feels anything threaten swell up and burst. This unreadable exterior can often make her appear aloof, even when she is far from that. The personality of her mother, however, ensures that she is not cold—even when she truly appears to be. Those who earn her trust find her warmth striking, almost startling; as though a tightly drawn curtain has been pulled back to reveal light behind it.

Her awareness of Pureblood tradition has also engendered a cautiousness that distances her from others. She is careful, dignified—sometimes overly so—and struggles to trust easily. This detachment, combined with her instinct to retreat into composure during conflict, can generate the impression of apathy even toward those she cares for.

Jane’s sharpened intelligence sometimes appears as impatience. She does not scorn others, but she finds it hard to dismiss disorganization or frivolity; her silences can cut as clearly as words and her standards are not easily lowered. These traits make her reliable and disciplined—yet they also remind those around her that she is a Song, formed not only by privilege and love but by the constraints of convention.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
When Jane was five, she unwittingly performed her first burst of magic whilst practicing the violin one afternoon; she had been trying—and failling—to master a more complex part of a Vivaldi concerto. Her fingers, which were usually very precise, kept slipping frantically. Her bowing grew tense and jerky, and her frustration swelled; building behind her eyes like pressure behind glass.

After the fifth consecutive error, something snapped—thankfully not in the violin—in the atmosphere surrounding her. The sheet music, fluttering like frightened birds, exploded into the air and lifted violently from the stand without a word. Her bow followed suit, flying across the room and settling itself with an odd grace into a nearby curtain. The stand clattered dramatically as it met the parquet flooring. The violin remained untouched in her lap, as if even magic knew better than to harm it.

Jane sat motionless, her heart hammering against her ribs and her breath caught. Mere moments later, her father entered to find the room in a flurry and his daughter seemingly frozen with shock, her eyes wide. He made no enquiries as to what exactly occurred. He only straightened the music stand and collected the sheets strewn across the floor, stealthily retrieving the bow and stroking her hair as he passed.

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for: Parseltongue
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Janet acquired this ability through her family connection to her squib grandmother, who was born to the pureblood parselmouth Karan family in India. Evidently, this ability skipped a generation.

She also had years of practice speaking from an early age with her pet snake Darius Banana Roll, who was bought not long before she was born and looked after by her grandma after she retired. Grandma wittled away her time failing to truly learn to speak parseltongue even through extensive reading and listening to Darius’s incredible monologues. Grandma could only interpret snake noises and mimic what she'd heard growing up around her family, who only spoke in parseltongue to each other like the Gaunts did.

This also is similar to how Ron imitated Harry's parseltongue to open the chamber in deathly hallows. If squibs could canonically speak to and understand cats, well, it woudn't seem too far off to assume that perhaps squibs could comprehend other animals, or perhaps even have comprehend language ability. Thankfully, grandma is a long dead npc that never went to hogwarts who is only relevant for Janet's background story, and she is glad she's not alive to apply for the comprehend languages ability.

By the time her grandma died, she’d managed to stuff three locked cabinets full of parseltongue scripts, tomes, and her own notes and research with Darius. Janets parents had no clue what they could be other than the concerning ramblings of a dementia patient.

Despite never mentioning it in life, grandma had an inkling that Janet was magical from the ease at which she communicated with the snake, and so Janet inherited these tomes and notes as stated in the will soon after her grandmother died, most of which didn’t make much sense to her as her grandmother’s handwriting was near unintelligible. However, she found she could read all the tomes and scripts with prefect clarity despite the fact that she’d never heard such advanced snake vocabulary, like the words sesquipedalian or xenotransplantation, from grandma's mimicry or Darius before.

It was from reading one of the more introductory texts that she learned that this could only be because she had a rare talent from birth. Janet always had an easy as pie time understanding and talking to the snake, although she had previously assumed that this was due to the very early age at which her grandmother started making mimicked snake noises at her. It definately explained why it felt as if she was teaching grandma at times, for example

Darius(in what he percieves to be a human tongue): mAstErrr, cAnne I hAvE a cOwwe?
grandma(in what she percieves to be snake tongue): yOuR mOtHeR wAsN't A cOw, sssIlLy.
Janet(in English): UGH! No grandma *rolls eyes* he asked if he could have a cow!
grandma(in what she percieves to be snake tongue): YoU cAn’T hAvE a CoW, sssIlLy

Janet sympathised with Darius greatly in moments like these. She always thought grandmother's 'parseltongue', if you could call it that, sounded strange and much less comprehendable than Darius's, but she could never put her finger on why before. Darius, who believed himself capable of the incredible magical ability of understanding humans, thought this inborn talent malarky was incredibly silly, and that the only reason she could talk to him was because he was talking to her. Janet had no reason to doubt his reasoning after reading up a bit more on the wizarding world, and she agreed with him that wizards did tend to put themselves in the middle of things and refuse to budge. She explained to Darius that maybe wizards were like this because they were scared into hiding since the witch burnings and trusted no other species but themselves out of misplaced fear and insecurity about persecution. Darius agreed that they should be scared.

What really bugged Janet though was all the hogwash about bloodlines that made up 80 percent of every tome and script in the collection. By the time she was done skimming through all of it she’d pretty much got the point that this rare super special natural born ability could only be passed down through bloodlines. Janet was pretty sure she was a muggle-born, as both her parents were not magical, and that grandma wasn't a witch, as she had never done anything remotely magical, nor was she probably a real parselmouth. Perhaps the magical gene had skipped a generation, Janet wondered.

Janet later asked her parents about her grandma, whose name was Sumaira B Karen. Sumaira had fled from her family in India with her children in 1946 and immigrated to England. Years later, she discovered that Sumaira was a squib born to the pureblood parselmouth Karan family. Sumaira was raised around parseltongue, but she could never fully grasp it the way her family could and felt alienated as a result. Upon learning that she had eloped with a muggle and diluted their pure as snow bloodline twice, she was disowned, even though she was already estranged from them. She was forced to flee after an attempt on her life by her own father. When she immigrated, the Karan name was misspelt as Karen in the documents, which worked in Sumaira’s favour and hid her from unfriendly eyes.

It also turns out that Darius Banana Roll, The mighty pueblan milk snake, has the magical signature of an Emerald Gazer! When this is discovered, Darius is unsurprised as he has always been aware of his greatness. Of course he would have the ancestory and full magical capability of a great emerald gazer! whyever anyone would doubt this is beyond Darius's comprehension. Grandmother even picked him up from the pet shop for this exact reason, although she was unaware of the specifics. When she showed up at home with a snake and gave everyone a heart attack, she explained that she felt as if there was a mysterious higher power guiding her hand, and when she lay her eye him, she felt a great spark as if she was connecting with her soulmate. The full extent of how close Darius and grandma were is not known. Historians will say they were friends.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Prehogwarts Janet went to primary school and lived in a large townhouse with her muggle family, including her parents, aunt and uncle, little sister and littler cousin, and her immigrant grandma - a disowned squib who fled with her muggle baby from the pureblooded parselmouth Karan family.

At primary school, Janet was said to have an active imagination, as many 11 year olds do. She was often seen hissing at inanimate objects or doodling in class, for which she was held back at break time by her teacher, Mrs Rosemound, during which she doodled more. She was referred to art therapy for further doodling by her parents after a meeting with Mrs Rosemound who was terrified upon discovering that she was not hissing to inanimate objects, but a tiny snake in her boot. Her art therapist, Miss Hydrangea, was fortunately a very nice witch whose art therapy career specialised in cases of magical children who were referred to therapy for doing strange things in muggle institutions.

She spent lots of time with her grandma, who told magical stories and taught her a lot about the world around her. Her grandma also taught her other things every now and then such as book binding, crotchet, and how to badly interpret snake noises from their pet pueblan milk snake, Darius Banana Roll. Janet spent alot of time correcting grandma's terrible interpretations and shaking her head about it to Darius.

Darius would like to add that he named himself, as any self respecting snake ought to do, and that he is mightiest of all snakes because he possesses the much coveted magical ability to talk to humans, known as Hisssapien, which he named himself as he is the only known snake authority on the matter at this time.

Janet got her letter when an owl landed on her grandma's freshly covered grave. Her parents thougt it was make believe and that she was being very disrespectful on her grandmas funeral. Miss Hydrangea believed her during her weekly art therapy and discussed it with her parents. Thus began Janet Flannel Roll Banana Karen's magical Hogwarts journey.

When Janet was 4 she went to the hairdressers for a trim. She was so upset by the haircut that she cried the entire ride home. By the time the car pulled into the drive, Janet resembled a chewbacca with glasses. This was her first accidental magic incident. To this day, stray hairs can be still be found all over the car. Janet's mother started her up on a diet of blessed water. Janet never went to the hairdressers again.

Although I love your story there seems to be a Blood Status Unalignment. Being related to a squib would mean you are not a muggle-born and much rather that you are either a half-blood or wizard-born as you still have wizardry ancestry. And if she was raised in a pre-domiantly muggle-born family they would not have much knowledge of magic. Please owl me back if you would like to edit your blood-status to either Half-blood or Wizard-born so we may continue with the process. Or otherwise please edit this story to fit the muggle-born narrative accurately.

Thank you for your reply back! So following up, although a very creative idea in site canon we do not have any ministry plants that teach muggles or half-bloods, but you could easily substitute the plant for a witch instead if you'd like, one who likes to look out for muggle-born and half-blood children?

Also in addition to this your Parselmouth application doesn't properly fall into the ability as Parseltongue is defined as a very rare trait or power passed down through a pure-blooded family and cannot be learned. You already created a good strong history of the ability which is good, but like you said if the Grandmother is a squib that means she would showcase no magic ability including parseltongue. But you could easily take away the fact of the grandmother having the ability and have Janet have it instead as like a skipped generation type of trait, but you would have to take away the idea of her learning the ability from her grandmother.

Lastly, also there is an alternative solution which is to switch the Parseltongue talent for Comprehend Languages which is a skill where a person can learn an additional language, this includes Parselmouth however the user is not able to speak this language, only understand the words that are said. They do not gain the ability to control snakes, open the chamber, etc. Again if you have further questions of if this feels overwhelming feel free to owl me!

Ewan was born on the 14th of March in 2013 to Rory MacLeod and Isobel Graham, who had felt blessed by this bundle of joy. The three of them lived in a stone cottage on the outskirts of Portree, in the island of Skye, perched above the harbor with a beautiful view of the sea. Growing up, his mother would tell him stories of kelpies, changelings and selkies: the two bonded over storytelling and Isobel would encourage her son’s wild imagination, while simultaneously getting Ewan accustomed to some aspects of the wizarding world she was apart of, being a witch. Ewan’s relationship with his father was also one of deep affection, albeit a bit different: Rory is a very practical man, and so he’d try to keep Ewan as grounded as possible (he knew that his wife was a witch, however he worried that his son was too caught up in fairytales).
When he was old enough, Ewan attended Muggle primary school. He was the ‘odd kid’ in his class: he daydreamed a lot, drawing doodles of the creatures his mother told him about in the margins of his textbooks. He didn’t excel in the more structured subjects, such as maths, however his teachers found his creativity endearing and tended to encourage his curiosity. Some of his peers would tease him for being spacey and often distracted, but he wasn’t shunned or excluded. Quite the contrary: he was found lovable by his community. When he wasn’t in school, Ewan would spend quite a bit of his time exploring the coastline or nearby hills, looking for ruins or old stone circles, and bringing home ‘treasures’ he’d found (pieces of driftwood, oddly shaped stones, mossy sticks, etc.), a habit he’d hold on to even at Hogwarts.

First Instance of Magic:

Ewan’s first brush with magic happened when he was eight years old. He and his father had quarreled: Rory, ever the practical man, had dismissed his son’s latest pocketful of trinkets as ‘junk’, urging him to ‘be more serious’ instead. Ewan, not one to argue, had listened quietly, despite being hurt by his father’s words - did he seriously call his son’s hobby a pile of junk? The young boy had slipped out of the house with a heavy heart, and had walked down to the coast. The sky was clouded, as if it reflected Ewan’s mood. There, on the beach, he looked at the stones, feathers, and scraps he’d gathered one last time, before hurling them into the sea with all the force his small arms could muster. He turned to leave, resigned, when he noticed something glinting in the sand just a few feet away. Well, wouldn’t you know it - his trinkets lay neatly before him, as if the sea itself had returned them. Ecstatic, the young MacLeod quickly scooped them up, tucked them close and raced back home to hide them in a special box.
